Ilarial Chardien sits across from the Rogue Trader Sebastian Haarlock, and those he's brought with him, in the upper chambers of the high class club Aura. His metalic hand delicatly holds a Lacusta Lho-stick between its digits as he watches you questionably before taking another slow drag. "So, Lord-Captain, you can see our situation. The...honourably Rolan Gentek has thus far been ...unable to return our surveying equipment and craft, so my colleagues and I are not quite able to provide you with any form of an advance. However, if you are able to successfully track down the Asteroid Belt your predecessor spoke of and eliminate any outstanding issues with its security, then I am sure we can be very prosperous partners. This is my family's first venture into the Koronus Expanse, and as its chief overseer, I am very interested in securing one or more prefered contractors."

The noblemen shifts in his seat and uses his free, human hand to sort out his clothing again, ensuring the fineries flow around him. He then takes a sip from his glass as he awaits a response. He motions to the exquisitively bejeweled bottle with his smoking hand "Please, do have some. It isn't Archaos, but we've secured some contacts on Askelphion Secundus and they do enjoy their spirits, and their jewelery."

Sebastian Haarlock - Last of His Line

Sebastian stares across the table at Master Chardien, fingers crossed in front of his mouth. His eyes give away practically nothing. Sebastian is strangely-dressed for a Rogue Trader, clad in a black longcoat and formalwear, his sole concession to the traditional flamboyance of a Rogue Trader the pelt of some xeno-beast draped over his shoulders. The contrast between him and Master Chardien is striking.

This is my family's first venture into the Koronus Expanse, and as its chief overseer, I am very interested in securing one or more prefered contractors."

Sebastian sighed inwardly. How low the House of Haarlock had been brought, that they were doing petty errands for mining families, however influential they may be. But the Emperor never killed a man for hard work. Of course, being the 'prefered contractor' of a noble house in the Calixis Sector could well bring us to profit.

"Thank you for you offer, Master Chardien. I am sure we can become good business partners in the future," 'Mutually Equitable' may have to be left out for the time being until the Haarlock name commands more respect. "I suppose I may have to accept your offer,"

Sebastian held up a hand. "No thank you. I don't drink,"

++Undying Grace, how soon will we be ready to set sail? There's profit in the air over here.++

"Ah ha! Excellent, my good man. I knew you would see it as I. Certainly there's nothing standing in the way of greatness now, Lord-Captain. I will have my man-servant Gustan see the star-charts to your vessel. We have a fairly certain destination, based on the information provided by Sir Gentek when he was more...cooperative. He ashes the exceedingly expensive lho-stick and sits back in his chair, his excitement having had him lean forward in anticipation of your response.

"Now, as to the surveyors. It may indeed take a few more days before my family's charter vessel arrives and I'm certainly in no position to make any additional purchases. If you wished to leave in all haste, I am sure you could find the necessary equipment for ... a reasonable price, I am assured. I would indeed recommend departing as quickly as you could, but, you are indeed the Lord-Captain, the decision is yours.

Tarro "Relax" Murex - Cynic Extrodinare

Tarro stands on the bridge of the Undying Grace and surveys the crew. Dressed In his formalware with his flak armour balanced precariously on his chair, he presents an unusual figure to anyone who sees him. His servo-skull orbits the room, scanning for anything out of the ordinary.

As per his standard orders, Tarro has the ship ready to leave at the slightest hint of trouble. The ship has been re-fueled, the crew have been recalled and only the ship's stock status is left to be confirmed. The crew members are all at their post's untill the captain returns to the ship.

He hears the captain's message and responds to him privately.

Subvocalization into Captain's Microbead:

++First Officer Tarro reporting. We are prepared to set sail as soon as we have fully re-stoked our inventory, and the crew return onboard. Will you require an escort back to the ship Captain?++

Tarro then turns to the vox-master, and asks him to broadcast his voice amongst the ship's crew, excluding Captain Haarlock and his company.

"This Is Murex speaking. The Captain's needs you to be back aboard ship, so all leave is recalled. Any crew who linger on, risk being stranded. Any crew who are not found to not be manning their post's will be dealt with, momentarily."

Varamyr Harazhan, Master of Trade

Varamyr stands behind his captain and watches the conversation intently as it proceeds. His disheveled appearance is a stark contrast to the stately dress of the two men before him. The room's small size and lack of windows have left him visibly uncomfortable.

Varamyr steps toward the Table and addresses their client, "We would have the star-charts now, if possible. While a man does not doubt the ability of your man-servant or M'Lord of Chardien's intentions, House Haarlock would prefer as few people handling it's documents as needed." A smile stretches across his nervous face and he makes a shallow bow. "You, as a fellow businessman, understand our want for discretion. In this line of work few precautions prove unnecessary." He takes a step backward and resumes his place behind Captain Haarlock. His human eye shoots nervous glances at the door before refocusing on Ilarial.

Subvocalization to Captain's Microbead:

++Most Traders would not abandon such an straight-forward venture without due cause. Gentek had a good reason for breaking off his contract. A man does not like it.++

Sebastian smiles slightly. "Indeed." He says, "I do not suppose that you would know why Sir Gentrek chose to demand a higher price? Of course, as Master Varamyr reminds us, confidentiality in such things is of the upmost importance. We intend to leave as soon as possible, so any knowledge you could provide us with would be highly helpful."

"In any case, if you could inform me as to what ores Gentrek claims to have found, that would be very helpful. Knowing what we are looking for is an important step in the process of acquiring it." So we can sell what you don't want, he added silently. Sebastian's eyes flicker toward Varamyr, hoping that his Master of Trade had not noticed something worrying. It wouldn't be the first time paranoia had been warranted, nor would it likely be the last.

Micro-Bead to Varamyr

++Indeed. I suspect Master Chardien is not informing us of everything he knows. How much do you know of house Chardien's operations? Or, perhaps, more importantly of Gentrek? This situation speaks to some presence in the asteroid belt that is threatening enough to merit a Rogue Trader's retreat. But, nevertheless, profit is there to be acquired.++

Micro-Bead to the Bridge

++ I somehow doubt I will need an escort, but thank you for you consideration, Master Murex. We may be restocking our inventory with mining gear.++

Tarro "Relax" Murex - Cynic Extrodinare

Tarro gets the Vox-Master to privately connect him to the Captain's vox.

Micro-Bead to the Captain:
++Affirmative Captain. Permission to have men armed on standby In case your situation changes?++

Tarro then broadcasts himself throughout the ship.

"This Is Murex speaking. I require four armed men to report to the bridge for escort duty. And somebody get me that sodding Ork."

Tarro straps his sword onto his back, and his pistol onto his hip.

"George, see If you can find the Ork. Men, hold your post's untill my return."

Tarro straps his flak vest on, and sets off to find Astropath Kell.

Mila of House De'Argon

The Navigatorial crew spent the entire night studying the warp charts of this part of the subsector. Mila, the Warp Guide representing house De'Argon, spent her time resting and sleeping, preparing for the travails of a warp jump. Ever since Captain Haarlock acquired the Undying Grace Mila has served the ship faithfully, with but a margin of eccentricity. What, to be fair, is more than can be said for most of the ship's crew members. Having woken up two or three hours ago the navigator was fully prepared for her Captain's order to take her rightful position at the Navigatorial Throne and pear their way through the immaterium.

When one of the House's acolyte came with the order for all intended members to take their post and stations, Mila felt a little offended. Couldn't the Void-Master call her in person, as is rightfully deserved of someone in her place? Taking the red silk scarf on her table she pretended not to notice the pampering acolyte as she passed through him. He quickly followed her trail nevertheless.

"Perhaps the Void-Master forgot who is the ship's bride. By all means, lets remind them."
Mila spoke more to herself, but the acolyte was happy to chattered on and pampered her, agreeing too vehemently of every one of her words. Over her microbead she finds the bridge channel;
"The Navigatorial House is ready, Void-Master Tarros." Her tone let understand that it wasn't in any part thanks to his personal forewarning.
"We shall guide The Grace* through the warp, at our Captain's behest and House De'Argon." With that last puncturing remark she cuts off from the bridge main chatter, which was already growing into a full clamor of half-screamed orders and mechanical noise.

{{ The Grace* is a nickname given to the ship by the older crew mates, like Mila. }}

Grozzak Toofhoarda. Hoarder of Everything

Murex's vox didn't just reach the human members of the crew."ALRIGHT ALRIGHT I HEARD YA THE FIRST TIME!" Grozzak didn't actually use a vox channel this time, he just shouted incredibly loudly causing an unholy echo to run throughout the ship. "Oh, da vox. Roight." The ork's voice filtered through on Murex's vox. "Wot? I's busy down here. 'Ang on..." There was a screeching sound and the distinctive creak of a handle being turned very quickly. "Dis *CRANK* is da *CRANK* most effishunt *CRANK* transpor- *CRANK* -atyshun *CRANK CRANK CRANK SCREEEEECH* dat I evva made!"

screechscreechSCREECHCLANG.

The crude metal cart attached to equally crude rails on the ceiling came to a rest directly above Murex's head. "Uhhh... I'd move if I wuz you, boss. I 'avent actshully screwed dis end in yet."

Ten seconds later the entire contraption fell to the ground.

Kell was in her chambers, or rather, what she had claimed as her chambers. The room was a tall hexagonal, six sides, floor and ceiling, set at the base of the ship's warp antenna. In a better ship the whole room would have been warded, with Psy-conductive channels and lenses to focus the power of a Astropathic Choir power up though the antenna, but whatever the events of the ship's past, they had conspired to systematically wreck it. The conductive materials were gone, the lenses were empty circles, and the whole thing was basically rendered a normal, if oddly shaped, room. A large room.

Naturally, she had converted it into a kind of chapel. Though few of the Officers elected to receive their spiritual ministrations here, devote though she was, many preferred to avoid the psyker, and simply listen to her sermons broadcast across the ship via the vox. A small plith, the largest statue of the emperor shed been able to lay hands on (about man-sized) and a few rows of pews. A small curtained off section held her bed, her favourite chair (from which she typically did her duties as a Astropath) and a large dresser/vanity/arming rack thing Harlock had given her when she arrived on the ship with nothing by the clothes on her back.

At present she was standing at the plith, leafing through some esoteric tome or other and humming to herself, unconsciously doing it psychically as well, so anyone who strayed close to the room would have to deal with Ode De God Emperor buzzing through their skulls until she was interrupted. She wore her typical attire, a robe-dress thing with a mantle around her shoulders, her Wave Spars hung limp at her back, quivering softly with her humming, the heavy metal bracers and cabling from the augmetic spars were the only things on her arms.

When the greenskin appears above Tarro's head, Tarro just shakes his head and moves. When the rickety contraption inevitably loses It's fight with gravity, Tarro has stayed well back, his vest absorbing any of the shrapnel that the wreckage creates. He pulls Grozzak out of the wreckage, wincing as he drags the incredibly heavy ork out of his former vehicle.

"Right, listen up you git. I want you to accompany me while I go look for some Information. Things might get shooty. Things might get stompy. So grab your stuff and let's get going."

Tarro continues on, untill he reaches Kell's chambers. He hesitates before reaching the door, and he trys to adjust his uniform and smooth back his hair before continuing to knock on the door.

"Lady Kell, may I be so bold as to ask permission to enter? I require your assistance with a surface mission."

Grozzak was dragged out of the wreckage, muttering and cursing as he followed Tarro to the door of the wierd one, making sure his burna was fueled and sttrapped to his back as he went. Sometimes, when Tarro talked Grozzak just wished he would shut the zog up - the 'umie couldn't speak proppa ork. Well, he could. I mean, practically any human with even semi-functioning speech centers could, but it was about the attitude.

Leaving aside matters of culural relevance, Grozzak nevertheless was looking forward to a face stomping match. The kind where only he got to play. With that he mind, he follows Tarro to door without complaint.

The Ship

The ship bustles as crewmen and officers make the final preperations for the ship. Tarro's vox message reaches the intended targets and is immediatly responded to. "Ser Murex, this is Captain Ilan. I have three others with me and am en route to meet you at the staging area with all speed."

Aura

The clank of glasses making toasts and whispers of conversations swirls through the club. Ilarial nods with his eyes closed in appreciation of the question, but then shakes his head slightly. "I do apologize, Lord-Captain but Gentek was not very forthcoing with his information. He explained his position in the matter and left it at that. When his repairs were finished he withdrew even from Port Wander. I am...still anticipating his return so that our equipment may be secured again, but as of yet, nothing. I am sure he intends to return, ofcourse, perhaps he is merely securing some provisions
not obtainable here. Perhaps you will even be partners in assisting us?"

He reaches to a small button on his collar and presses it, speaking quietly into it "Gustan. Do bring the charts and the readouts for the materials we are looking for. Quick, quick, please. Our friends do wish to be off quickly. Many thanks."

With his attention back towards Sebastian he smiles and rises. "Do enjoy the hospitality of Aura. I will return shortly once I've met with Gustan and we will bring the necessary datapads to you here?"

Vocalisation to the Bridge

"Captain Ilan, I commend you on your haste. I leave the bridge In the very capable hands of First Lieutenant Kelda. You need the experiance Kelda, so stop panicking. From there the chain of command passes to Second Lietunant Drudas, and then Warrent Officer Guilder. I know your wanting to prove you can lead Guilder, and Emperor protect us you might."

Tarro chuckles, thinking to himself "After the stunt he pulled the last time, I don't know whether to promote him to glory, or to glory"

Following standard orders the following people are outside the ship's chain of command and may act as they see fit. Mila De'Argon, Astropath Transendant Kell, and Varamyr Harazhan. Vox-Master, I want a constant encrypted channel available to me at all times, standard password. Contact me when we have an hour untill lift-off. That Is all gentlemen, the Emperor Protects."

Tarro hits the door a few more times, before gulping as he heads into Kell's chambers. He smoothes down his uniform before approaching her, to try and present the image of a calm, collected sauve leader, rather than a paranoid and slightly damp ensign. George patters back into Tarro's sight and his little beeps and boops make him relax greatly.

To Tarro's great displeasure, Captain the thunderhawk has choosen to sit on the Orks shoulder. Despite many, many, many techpriests looking at the damn thing, It seems to have taken the greenskin as a secondary master. Or possibly a mate. It seems the Ork has painted It red, probably in order to make It go faster. Which could work, If he hadn't used think insulating paint.

"My lady, I require your aid for a surface mission. Would you be willing to accompany one In order to support our Captain?

The humming cut off as Tarro's fist hit the door, Kell startled out of her reverie by the noise. But she didnt respond at first, waiting for the guest to enter, mostly because it was almost impossible to get people into her little chapel, she was content to wait untill he either worked up the nerve or gave up and went away.... she wasnt exactly in a generous mood after Haarlock had turned down the pilgrims for some rock sniffing combine with illusions of importance.

When he finally worked up the courage however she was a welcoming hostess, smiling as he entered "Welcome Tarro, as you know my door is always open. What manner of 'mission' hm? The sort were we have to run away from irate arbites? Or the sort where I get to smite heretics?" she asked in a somewhat wry tone.

Sebastian nodded. "Perhaps indeed. What exactly would that entail?"

"Excellent," Sebastian smiles and nods again, doing his best to appear as agreeable as possible. Business deals. Sometimes you had to look like you trusted your business partner as far as you could throw them.

As soon as Master Chardien leaves, Sebastian stands, straightening out any wrinkles in his clothing that develop and laying a hand on the engraved pommel of his chainsword, in a gesture more of showy control than actual combat readiness. His eyes narrow as he watches Chardien's retreating back.

"What do you think the odds are the table's bugged, Master Varamyr?" He asks. If Chardien bugged the room, he had effectively called his bluff, if not, well, it never hurt to be prepared. Sebastian shifted his gaze across the other occupants of the room, all of them apparently noble or at least wealthy and enjoying nights out.

If Chardien bought all the people in the room in some hamfisted attempt to get any leverage over us, this whole situation could turn ploin-shaped extremely quickly. Of course, it is entirely possible that Chardien is exactly what he appears to be, just a fat scion of a rich mining family. But it never hurts to be cautious. Or perhaps I'm spending too much time with Master Varamyr. Sebastian thinks. He visibly activates his micro-bead, reasoning that if the room was bugged, they would not have heard enough of the conversation between himself and First Officer Murex to determine what he was talking about.

"And it looks like our Lord-Captain has his suspicions as well. Shall we go look for that which is hidden my lady?"

Then turned her attention back to Tarro, "The Arbites it is then. Its a ill omen indeed when you start asking me to rip information from peoples minds. Give me a moment to get my things..." She stated as she wandered off behind her little partition to collect her humble assortment of weapons, it did not take her long, and when she reemerged she wore her arming belt with pistol and sword, a large silver Aquila dangling from her neck. Tarro receives the Captain's message, and immediately starts to jog to the staging point, dragging Kell and the Ork behind him.

"We need to move fast. The captain's preparing for trouble."

Not bothering to check if the others are following, he begins to sprint towards the staging point, whistling George and Captain back to his side. By the time he reaches Ilan he has barely broken a sweat, long years of running away having conditioned him for bursts of activity.

"Captain-Ilan, I require you to proceed towards the club known as Aura, with maximum haste. Keep your weapons loaded and live. If Lord-Captain Haarlock is in trouble, escort him here with maximum haste.

While Tarro waits for his companions to rejoin him, he checks his bolt-pistol is live and at hand for when he needs It. Smoothly pulling out the cartridge, he double checks the feeding mechanism, recites a short chant to the machine-spirit inside and then reloads.

Aura

Ilarial had shrugged "I do suppose we can simply wait for Gustan, if you are not against the wait. Please, yes! A drink to our coming prosperity!" The man had sat himself back down with a pleasant smile. He took the liberty of pouring two glasses, one for himself and one for Sebastien. "To prosperity!"

Ilarial makes small talk, but happily expresses the greatness of House Chardien's mining exploits and goes on to discuss the three ores that Gentek had explained were in the belt. These were what Ilarial was looking for. He explains that they'd like the asteroid thoroughly mapped out and all of the ore traced; this way semi-permenant colonies could be set up to continue with the extraction.

Coincidently, near the ending of Ilarial's explainations a waitress arrives. A puzzled look on her face as she indicates she has a large plate for Sebastien, by a motion of her hand and not by speaking his name.

Undying Grace
"Sir, the men and I are on the way. We will be there at haste." Ilan coms to Tarro. The group hustle through the packed streets to the directions provided.

Outside Aura
The club is in one of the wealthy areas of Port Wander. Oranate chandaliers hang above its long entrance way, illuminating the path. Two guards are stationed at each minor alcove to present a feeling of security for its occupants. Their rifles, whether for show or fully operational, are expertly cared for, as is their armour. Their garb is almost gaudy in the way capes flow. Anyone paying more then enough would see the oversized pauldrons and boots are in no way easy to move in.

"Of course I am not against the wait. I did, however, mean in a more private locale. Perhaps a booth?" Sebastian says, taking the drink from Chardien, but not drinking it.

Chardien's expedition and explanation seemed perfectly legitimate, and certainly profitable, but, on the other hand, something had to have driven Gentrek off, and it could hardly have been bad divinations. Of course, if Sebastian had been planning a trap, he would have ensured it was at least as well-cameoflaged.

"Indeed." Sebastian said, raising the glass to drink, but carefully avoiding having the liquid actually touch his lips. To be on the safe side, he also avoided inhaling any of it. "Mapped out and traced, you say?" Sebastian said as he steered Chardien toward a nearby empty booth. "I'm fairly certain we can do that easily.

The waitresses' approach slightly startles Sebastian. He was, after all, not expecting more food, and had certainly not seen Chardien order any.

"You wouldn't happen to be able to say who ordered this for me, would you?" Sebastian says to her "You?" He asks, shifting his gaze to Chardien.

Goodwin

Ilarial looks equally perplexed and looks between Sebastian and the serving girl, and then around the room. "Me? No, I have not ordered anything. I've already eaten."

The waitress nods her head in response to Sebastian's question and motions a hand towards a table a few meters away. At a table near a massive window to the stars, a man is seated by himself. He has two plates with him, one the object of his current attention and the other the subject of the bones and refuse of his meal. His black hair is oiled and wrapped in two ponytails behind each ear, that hang across to his chest. His thick overcoat is decorated with expensive baubles. His thick mustache is adept, and avoids contact with the morsels he devours. His entire build is thick and rich, much like his attire.

"The gentleman over there sent you this, my lord." When she looks back to the plate she is clearly perplexed and she lowers it to you with a look of trepidation.

The plate itself is ornate and expensive, much like most of the things in Aura. However, it is piled with bones and gristle and knobs of joints. Some of the pieces do contain bits of meat and the flesh of whatever creature they came from, but this is clearly a heap of refuse more suited to the garbage disposal than anyone's eyesight.
