Hi there.

I plan on making a special NPC in my planescape campaign, a big walking castle.
Story is, he was created by a god (and he himself is a demigod infact) and was then left in the outlands for some reason.
He wants to "heal" his sister, which was an animated tower, now in ruins and no longer able to speak or move anymore. Should the PCs decide to help him, they will win a powerful ally for a later war.

The castle is Rook, based on the game Demigod:

The question is: which god could have created him? I'm running planescape so there's a god for almost everything, but i'd like something easily recognizable by the PCs. I was thinking the greek god Hephaestus, whom the PCs have met already, but i'm not sure

Well, I don't know which god you would want him to be created by, but I CAN give you the stats I made for him in a contest.

Rook, the Greymount Fortress. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=7703011&postcount=9)

Wow, thanks :)

I'll probably use your stats as a basis for this NPC :) Your help is much appreciated!

Of the standard PHB (3.5, you don't mention a version) deities, I'd say Moradin would be a good bet. His portfolio includes stonework (fitting the "it's a castle" requirement) and he has the Creation domain, he's good-aligned, and hey - his favoured weapon is a warhammer which your castle appears to be carrying.

EDIT: Plus he seems vaguely dwarf-shaped.

Which pantheons are you using? He looks like he could certainly have been made by some dwarven god. (Rerox comes to mind.. even if he's a Dragonlance deity).

Athena or Hephasteus comes to mind if you're going for greek gods. Even if I personally lean towards Athena, he looks fairly warlike. (Athena comissioned him from Hephasteus?)

A demigod? I'm thinking the love child of Hephaestus and a volcano, personally trained by his father from blob of living lava rock to hammer wielding castle before being sent off to the wilderness.

One better. Offspring of Hephaestus and Pele. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pele_(deity))

Also, much as I liked demigod, it would have been grealty improved if all the demigods were walking castles. :smalltongue:
(but seriously, the backgrounds in that game were AMAZING.)

Indeed, Demigod was a sweet game with awesome fluff, and being that it came after DOTA and before HoN, I have no idea why it did so poorly in sales.

Rook was also one of my personal favorites. Hope your session goes well :3

I could certainly side with Pele, but then would he be a full god with respect from both cultures, or a demigod with respect from both?

So that's where Rook comes from!

Man I love that big guy.
