I put down this character a long while ago, but I'm curious about thoughts on this. I was playing a Gnome Druid with a dire wolverine as my animal companion. For the most part, I was a beast at mounted combat, riding in and letting the wolverine handle my negotiations while casting buffs and attack spells from his back.
Is there a decent prestige class that would allow me to increase my level for improving my mount's stats while also giving me spellcasting? I was thinking Arcane Hierophant, but I didn't really want to have to dip for levels of Wizard or Bard to meet the pre-reqs.
For reference, I ended up taking levels in Halfling Outrider (just called it Outrider because race specific prestige classes are kind of stupid), which was useful for giving me some tricks to do while riding. I wouldn't have minded dropping the BAB for that class from Good to Fair and gain spellcasting levels, but I couldn't find precedent to justify it.
