[3.5] Cost of Trained Animals?

I've been trying to find a satisfying answer to this one via Google, but no luck, so I thought I'd post it here: Has anyone seen in the rules (or determined independently) the cost of a trained animal (as per Handle Animal)?

The oft-cited example is that of the riding dog, but I'm wondering what it would cost to tack on the Fighting set of tricks to, say, a mule. Or a badger. Or a flumph.

It varies depending on the animal. There's a formula for Warbeasts, and there are stated costs for many examples in the Arms and Equipment guide, but there's no reason to expect a general rule.
