I'll post some bits from a few good albums:
The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKIHlYwEOq8), Mingus Ah Um (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkJfL6KQ058), Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23sah6aWk3A) by (guess who) Charles Mingus. Also have Sherik screaming his head off into a saxophone. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PU6B_JpWzU)

Wow! Just.. wow! I, now, stand ashamed for not knowing Charles Mingus and the temptations up to this point! Thank you very much for sharing these groovalicious sounds! Also.. Yoko Kanno is a classic and cowboy bebop was her masterpiece! I just had to say that.

My mind = blown

Ok.. how to top these?

I'll try:

Wow man, these are great. I've been looking for jazz musics for a particular character of mine. Thanks a lot. Anyway, I'll be listening them one by one, but do you have particular suggestions for jazzy action/battle theme?

That is a very especific request. And a hard one imho. Althoug jazz music can be very "hard" and "action oriented" like Benny Goodman's "Sing Sing Sing" (the kind of music that makes you wanna get up and dance like crazy) I usually, if ever, think "hey, this looks like a battle song or theme".

Anyway.. I'll give a couple suggestions that are more aligned with rock than jazz:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJB3k9WTvHk <-- This is THE battle theme! ^^

This guy is truly a virtuoso! His style reminds me of Yamandu Costa, another master, but on the the seven string guitar. Though I do like instrumental music this style of play, unfortunately, isn't appealing to me. A solo is good once in while, but the blend that happens when the instruments play with each other is the main event for me. Just my opinion.

Thanks for introducing me to Costa, Woodstock! Amazing player. My favorite jazz guitarist also played seven strings, though with an extra high rather than an extra low string like Costa has:

edit:

Cool sound, very mellow, good with a sip of wine or something. I searched on her a little and it seems the entire Coltrane family is made of bad ass multi instrumental musicians.
Check out Alice Coltrane, on the piano this time, playing with Ravi Coltrane:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnSwUmlcUq4

Is that a clarinet he is playing? Wow! It sounds deep like a sax but not so deep as the bass clarinet. Very good.

Hey Kindablue, I really liked the second song you posted, very latin-ish with a stormy end. you seem to like guitar music a lot so I'll give two suggestions:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bSxPyroCYs <-- Listen this. Please. At least to see him drop his pick and improvise at the end.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8pcFoEfYhQ <-- This is a beautiful solo made by an african guitarist known only as blind man and his guitar. Africa has a rich history of unknow virtuoso musicians like this guy and father of afrobeat Fela Kuti.

Also.. one more:

^^John Mclaughlin is on what I tell people is my favorite Miles Davis album so they'll think I'm cool and know about obscure things, A Tribute to Jack Johnson ( http://youtube.com/watch?v=DEBKksupBVA).

It's really Kind of Blue.
Woodstock: Wow, that solo piece was damn impressive, thanks. It sounded like he was playing bass, comp, and two different melodies all at the same time at a couple points; I would've totally assumed that was a group of people if I'd heard it as blind as he'd played it.

This is getting pretty far away from jazz, but I'll post the greatest wordless blues song ever, Dark Was the Night (http://youtube.com/watch?v=BNj2BXW852g) by Blind Willie Johnson. It rode Voyager out of the solar system a few years back.

ETA: I'm a classical guitarist myself--or at least trying to be--so I have an affinity for the instrument.

It's not a problem to strand a bit from the theme... and the title of the thread is a little dubious anyway. What is Jazzy? Uh... I don't really know. I, personally, like wind instruments a lot, they add a feel to the music that I think is often missing in other songs.
Jethro Tull os a good classic rock band that makes full use of the transverse flute: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GBY3HatLd8
They are not essential, of course, several bands like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin make little use of them and are still awesome. These instruments are rooted in classical and folk music, but were one of the earliest, with the piano, to be "subverted" into modern music through Ragtime and Jazz in the early 20th century. Some classical examples by Scott Joplin, Fletcher Henderson and Benny Goodman:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPmruHc4S9Q
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMAtL7n_-rc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsjXEDSsEJs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2S1I_ien6A
Today the style has changed in some ways, but for the best, with it's roots still in Africa as a huge influence. This influence can be seen in such bands as Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra and Kokolo Afrobeat Orchestra. Other bands like them are Chicago based Nomo:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOrNrLCIPug
And several turkish jazz bands like this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrN3ruhF8_Q&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PL109C79688884B021
All of them are children to the late Fela Kuti, political activist and afrobeat father:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_ODwq7jm3E
These are just some nice suggestions mingled with little information. Also a blues song in return of Blind Willie Johnson:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0_eRVroLqs
And some Joćo Donato:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYrv-V3djkE
And.. congratulations For winning Capn.. I guess. They are great.. the two of them I mean, where is the other one? the other video I checked the were only two again:

Great post, Woodstock. My computer's a little completely broken right now and YouTube's weird about music on phones sometimes, so I'll check those suggestions out later. I haven't commented on all of it, but I've listened to just about everything in this thread.

Also, do you know Eric Dolphy? (http://youtube.com/watch?v=gUUEdGcD1fM) L'Histoire du Tango (http://youtube.com/watch?v=AZQJ5GAK5RY) (that's part one of four) by Astor Piazzolla is another really great use of the flute.

I have been cursed. By CapnRedBeard. Everyday I turn my computer to listen and sometimes watch the video he posted. It started slowly, but grew on me over time. I love how the song they play starts a little slow and then comes to a sudden build up that culminates in epicness in 6:40 through 9:40. Great!
Well.. I'll post some more good songs starting with two Highlife musicians. Highlife is a style of music that came into existence in Ghana sometime around 1900. It uses mainly brass instruments, guitars and nowadays keyboards.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xyTYDNdTz8 <-- Classic highlife. Reminds me of the soundtrack of the game Tropico. I like the singing in this one, I wish I knew what's being said.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSc7C4sf2P0 <-- A more modern one.

It's interesting to know and understand the roots of your favorite style of music. Highlife was an inspiration to several Jazz players including herbie Hancock:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4WE2VbPAag <-- Yeah!

Of course I know Dolphy, but on the flute I prefer Herbie Mann:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iR64lF2agbM&feature=related <-- Oh yeah!
