Animal Companion Query [PF]

Hey guys,

When statting up an animal companion, do you get to roll your own ability scores and add the racial modifiers to the result? I use Hero Lab to create my characters and all their stats have base 10 with the racial modifiers added on.
Are these adjustments to compensate for the animals adjustments, or is it simply a racial modifier that I can apply a rolled stat to?

PS: For those without Hero Lab, my wolverine's stats are at a base score of 10 and have the following stats:
STR 10
DEX 17
CON 15
INT 2
WIS 12
CHA 10

Animal companions have fixed starting ability scores. Those are the correct starting scores for a wolverine companion. Over time, its Str and Dex will grow, and at level 4 it will grow and its ability scores change.
