Does anyone know of a good online character sheet? Something simple and clean looking that you can enter your own stats on. I've looked quite a bit and haven't really been able to find what I'm looking for outside crazy complicated spread sheets or overly simplified sheets.

I'll second Myth-Weavers for online character sheets.

Thirded. It has calculating functionality, and you can download the data (and upload it again) in case you're worried about losing it.

I just took a look at Myth Weavers for the first time. After five minutes, I can also agree that the program is pretty much amazing. Now I'm wondering why I bothered with paper.

4th vote for myth-weavers. It's where I store all my sheets. Like this one. (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=406861)

As a DM, I use Myth-Weavers character sheets pretty much whenever I use character sheets (which is to say, everyone and everything designed to be too complex to make up stats for on the spot in under 30 seconds).

Pretty much this. If a character is too complex for a statblock, it's Mythweavers time.

This one is pretty nice ^

But I checked out myth-weavers and its exactly what I was looking for. I don't know why I wasn't able to find that site on my own unless I did but never bothered to register for it.

Thanks Playgrounders!

Your welcome

EDIT: I also recommend Mythweaver, its much better for complicated character sheets and more convenient for sorcerers and other spontaneous casters

http://pifro.com/pro/ works fairly well too. It's what I use and I just keep it open on my ipod touch at sessions. No more wasting paper or pencils!

Let me go against the crowd here. By preference I just use Notepad and anything that can put text online, like a forum post.

- Mythweaver is slow as heck on my computer. There's often significant lag selecting or editing boxes. Plain text is always instantaneous.

- Mythweaver has very little extensibility. If I need more inventory space, or want to keep track of Moral or Insight modifiers to different things to keep from double-stacking, I simply don't have room. Plain text can expand or contract any section as needed.

- Mythweaver doesn't leave blanks to describe situational modifiers. This means figuring out my saving throws often involves checking all over my character sheet. In plain text I can list all my relevant modifiers together. I can put situation modifiers to AC next to my AC, and modifiers to saves next to my saves.

- Mythweaver boxes are often too small. There's no room to leave notes about what a feat or spell or item does. With plain text there's all sorts of horizontal room to leave detailed notes so I don't have to keep a dozen books on-hand.

If anyone knows a sheet-hosting service that doesn't suffer from these problems, please let me know.

Yeah, myth weavers if you want to store it online. I prefer to use PCGen (http://pcgen.sourceforge.net/01_overview.php) on my computer though.

I've filled out a whole sheet tonight on myth-weavers and its been great but I will agree I wish you could edit some of the boxes. Many of of the things are fairly useless (like spell list) for what I'm doing but I could def use a some differently formatted and larger topic boxes for notes and what not.

Get off my lawn you crazy kids!

Joking aside, rather than Notepad I'd use a Google Doc or similar (since the OP's goal is to put character sheets in the cloud so as not to forget them.) So I can show up to a session with nothing but my phone (even my dice can be there) and be ready to go.

To your specific points though:

1) I'm not sure the specs of your computer if it has trouble with M-W, but as the OP pointed out a good smartphone can handle the site just fine.

2) You can always combine M-W with an external doc. For instance, to extend my inventory I'd throw in something like "see additional items in {doc-name}" and continue listing there. I could even then shift the important items to the sheet and the less useful stuff down to the doc.

3) Same is true for modifiers - put the final number on your sheet and throw all the calculations/mods into another doc or even a spreadsheet.

4) Same is true for explanatory text - for example, I actually have a doc where I summarized the effects of every soulmeld in MoI. On my online sheet I just reference a given meld and track my round-to-round essentia while the effects of it are listed in that doc.

Can anyone tell me if when you print from MW if it correctly formats to the right size for a full sheet of paper. I didn't notice an option to print and I don't have my printer hooked up to check but I'm assuming you just use select all and print?

Does any one have much experience with TOS+ (http://theonlysheet.com/homepage/)? I know that it has drop down menus for practically everything, and that you can add any item/race/feat you want as some kind of extension to the base 3.5/PF rule sets.

Have you tried doing a Ctrl+P? It worked perfectly for me.

Yeah that's the answer I got from the MW forums and it worked fine. I just assumed that if I printed that way the formatting would look the same as on the web page with the wide borders. Guess that's what I get for assuming lol

If anyone knows a sheet-hosting service that doesn't suffer from these problems, please let me know.

It's not exactly "hosting" (unless you save it on Dropbox :smalltongue:), but rather than plain-text, I use wiki-text as provided by Zim (http://zim-wiki.org/). Building hyperlinks easily into anything that may require looking up additional notes (e.g. spell descriptions) is terribly convenient.

They print out Properly, it isn't completely auto calculated (i have found some of those to be buggy)

It's just an all around nice fillable 3.5 sheet.

I'll toss in my hat for DnD online games, aside from being a PbP site they have a nice selection of character sheets, i believe i have.....68? stored there right now and I've never had a problem.

I prefer Word — the Open Office version, well I could use the MS one.
It has tables, pagination, search, better formatting.
I can also embed spreadsheets, diagrams and images.

I can copy and paste stuff out into a flat file , even tables into BB format, though that is a little clunky.

But then I'm normally designing a series of encounters/characters/monsters rather than just one character.

If I'm just playing a PC I still use the same format, because I'd rather not have to bother with multiple tools to do the same job.

Has anyone seen a good Barbarian character sheet? I remember WoTC made class specific sheets at one time but I've had bad luck finding a good sheet to keep track of all my situational attack/damage bonuses.

I'm playing a pathfinder barbarian soooo I have a ton of situational modifiers.... I would like to be able to use drop down menus but I can't work excel very well.
