I'm thinking of running a small adventure for my party; it would be my first time being DM, and I'm trying to work as much out ahead of time as possible.

The kobolds they'd probably go against (despite the fact they're only there for the goblins) would have pit traps covered in paper. My question is, how do you settle walking on paper without breaking it? I'm thinking a move silently of some number might work, but I really have no idea.

Any advice?

A DC 90 balance check lets you walk on liquid, or "any other surface that couldn’t support the character’s weight, such as a fragile branch."

I would say walking across a paper surface without breaking it falls under this. After all, you are making the paper support your weight; it isn't going to be easy. (though the DC IS a bit high if you aren't playing a high-op, mid-to-high level game)
