Well, it's been 30 years, so you can't really blame them (http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2012/06/08/20120608comedic-car-talk-tom-ray-magliozzi-ending-show.html). I figure some people ITP must listen to NPR ...

Aww... I'll miss them. So the article was a bit vague. Are they going to do reruns, unaired calls, or just mix and match the best ones together?

Berman said he figured there is about eight years' worth of strong material without the show having to repeat itself again.

That sounds like previously-unaired calls to me.

I hope they use this time to focus on their PBS cartoon.

I would seriously doubt that. Tom's getting on in years and the show was never successful.

Also, according to this (http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2012/06/08/154576808/car-talk-guys-are-retiring-but-their-best-stuff-will-be-rebroadcast) it's just going to be re-broadcast of stuff that's been reassembled.

I would miss them more if I woke up in time for their show on weekends but I'm still sad to see them go. :smallfrown:

they have a cartoon?

They did several years ago. To the best of my knowledge it hasn't aired since 2008

Ah Fayah Citty will never be the same without Cah Tahk.

I love listening to them. I love their accents, love their laughs. The car advice is solid too.

But the reruns should last for another generation of car owners.

Awwww:smallfrown:

It sounds like given the volume of calls they had there's about 8 years worth of material without actually having to air reruns, and I'm sure given how long they've gone that I'd be interested in hearing the reruns for years after that. But it still sucks because they're so awesome.

They better leave the Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe law office sign up in Harvard square though.
