I seem to remember a feat that affected buying and selling prices for merchants...anyone remember such a thing?

Complete Adventurer also has a Diplomacy skill use for getting a 10% discount. Get the vendor to Helpful (adding his Diplomacy modifier to the DC), and you get 10% off the asking price. So anything which boost Diplomacy will be useful and can significantly increase your profit margins. However, your DM can be an *** and have all the asking prices 10% higher to compensate, but in that case, playing a merchant won't do you much good anyway.

There's also a PF feat, Master of the Ledger, which lets you invest in marketplaces for monthly profit. Average is 12.5gp returns per month per market (ignoring disasters), so it can be good in the long term with lots of markets, and free travel to visit all of them. IIRC, 12.5% per month is really good in real-world terms, although that might not be so good in dnd terms.
