Been trying to search for a while now and it just hangs then it goes into 500 internal server error.
The only search that works for me is searching by a specific posters name for all their posts.
Can this get fixed?

We do have a search function. However, I believe that sometimes the server just gets too busy, hence your "500 internal server error" messages. Rawhide or one of the Mods can correct me if I'm wrong on that.
You can use Google or your favorite search engine to search GitP. Just set the site to giantitp.com when you search. I (and a great many others here) have done so often, and it works just as well, if not better at times, than the Search function on the boards.
Hope that helps.
Love your avatar, by the way.

The search function here is notoriously unreliable. Just use Google, giantitp is always among the top results for anything D&D-related.

Google search for things such as "Site:www.giantitp.com <search terms here> <optional subforum keyword "Homebrew, Roleplaying, Recruitment, etc" here>" has proven remarkably reliable for me.

Alternatively, if you know who made the thread but not the thread name, just go through the members' list, go to their profile, and click "Find all threads started by".

That still uses the search function.

That still uses the search function.
Yeah, but it actually works most of the time.

Is there any recipe for searching within a specific thread? The search function of this site only gives me a blank page.

Top right, just above the first post. That thing that says Search this Thread.

Top right, just above the first post. That thing that says Search this Thread. The problem is all that gets me is an empty page. The google search works though.
