I originally (as many here on the forums read) wanted to go with a cluster of a build, but reading around on PFSRD, Alchemist simply struck me as a brilliant class. Here is the rough sketch of the build:

Race: Human (Heart of the Fields: Alchemy w/ Alchemist Favored Class Bonus) (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/core-races/human)
Class: Grenadier (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/alchemist/archetypes/paizo---alchemist-archetypes/grenadier) Alchemist (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/alchemist)

Feats:
1 - Improved Initiative, Extra Bombs
3 - Extra Discovery: Tumor Familiar: Compsognathus
5 - Extra Discovery: Acid Bomb
7 - Extra Discovery: Breath Weapon Bomb
9 - ": Infuse Mutagen
11 - ": Sticky Bomb
15 - ": Force Bomb
17 - ": Explosive Bomb
19 - ": Greater Cognatogen

Trait: Reactionary

Discoveries:

2 - Smoke Bomb
4 - Stink Bomb
6 - Cognatogen
10 - Immolation Bomb
12 - Greater Mutagen
14 - Elixer of Life
16 - Grand Mutagen
18 - Inferno Bomb
20 - Madness Bomb, Grand Cognatogen, True Mutagen

Formulae:

Don't Really Know Here...

Fluff: His Mutagen keeps him from a curse in his family cast by a hag. His "mutagen" is actually something to keep him from shifting into his "dark side."

Here's my questions:

1. How are my Feat, Discovery, and Trait choices?
2. What Formulae should I grab?
3. Any way to continue the fluff with some crunch?

thanks y'all!

First of all, you know that you get feats every odd level in Pathfinder, right? :smalltongue:

The only time you need to take mutagen as a discovery is if you are a mindchemist, you replaces the class feature with the cognatogen. Everyone else gets it as a normal class feature at 1.

You're missing a lot of feats. Since most of your feats are "Extra Discovery" I'll wait until you've accounted for that before critiquing the Discoveries as well.

I was only missing 3 feats, so I shuffled everything around, giving me 20 Discoveries + My grand discovery

Over 20 levels a character gets 10 feats, excluding any gained from race or class. http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/character-advancement
So you need to fill in a few gaps.
Grenadier gains Precise Bombs at level 2, it replaces Poison Use. Frees up another Discovery.
At 6th level, the Grenadier gets Directed Place, which while it doesn't outright obviate the use of Strafe Bomb, it does limit its need, especially when combined with Precise Bomb. Might free up another Discovery.
As stack pointed out, you automatically gain mutagen at level 1, so you don't need to spend a discovery on it, unless you were referring to cognatogen.
I can give more advice once I know more about precisely what roles you want to fill as well as the details of the "curse" you are afflicted by.

Ok.

Changed Precise Bomb to Infuse Mutagen
Changed Strafe Bomb to Explosive Bomb
Switched Mutagen into Cognatogen, as well as dropped a few lesser options for the rest of the Cognatogen line

The fluff is based on him being much of a "switch hitter," focusing mostly on bombs, but is cursed to become a monster in times of duress (Takes X amount of damage in a single round), so to try and stop himself from becoming the Beastial side, he injects himself with a serum to try and stop the mutation (refluff of the mutagen). When he suceeds, he doesn't shift. When he fails, the mutagen effects kick in and he becomes a foaming-at-the-mouth monster, entering a pseudo-rage effect (not using Ragechemist) and becomes a melee monster.
