Newb here, going to be playing a rogue. Already made it through the first session and had a blast! Started from level 1 so not much money. (3.5 based homebrew)

So I wanted to get some ideas on fun things i could use general store items for. Like out of the ordinary stuff to spice up the game. Or really cool ways to use mundane items to pull off some epic stunts. The key to the items is they have to be easily accessible to low level players ie. 1-10. And they have to be reasonably priced items. I'm looking for pranks, and ways to take out mobs.
Also different trap ideas that as a rogue i could make. The DM makes us describe the trap in detail.

So if you guys have any cool suggestions on fun things mundane items can be used for let me know! Or if you have links to other similar topics please share!

For traps, you can find some ideas here:
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/traps.htm
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060127a

There are also additional traps in the DMG2 (1/2 CR booby traps, page 40) and Dungeonscape (page 117).

Further more the entries of the Trapsmith (dungeonscape, page 53) and the Combat Trapsmith (complete scoundrel, page 34) prestige classes also list traps you can take inspiration from.

Flour (rest to your imagination...water + flour = detecting invis things and so on)
Caltrops
And butter/oil on stone making grease.

This (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148101) is a fancy handbook for all your mundane needs. The first version of the haversack in particular has alot of inexpensive utility items for the savvy adventurer favoring versatility over power. You can pick through the handbook for the things you really need, or splurge and try to buy the whole thing. One of my favorite suggestions from the book is shapesand from sandstorm that allows you to create any small mundane item you can imagine.
