For the launch of the film Wreck-It Ralph, in association with a local theater that is interested in promoting it's geek-ness, my friends and I are going to do some costumes, and possibly hold a costume contest (for the actual public, not us) the night of the showing.

So I'm looking for suggestions on costumes from the 8-bit and 16-bit video game era, and some related hallmarks of gaming outside that era.

We currently have Ice Climbers, Peach and Mario, a mobster Bowser, mobster koopas and goombas, Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi, but we need more ideas.

Suggestions? Thoughts? Obscure video game reference-fu?

Hit me!

Don't forget Princess Daisy and Tatanga, her alien captor, both of whom appeared in Super Mario Land (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Mario_Land)for the Gameboy circa 1989.

Oh, for the people waiting in line, we plan on playing lots of chiptune music, remixed video game music, etc. OC Remix is in the list, naturally. Can anyone suggest any other stuff?

Can't forget the varying Megaman bot's. That should fill in more than a few spots.

ANYBODY from any of the Mother games. The Mother series needs more love. Too bad I don't live near your theater most likely. If I did I'd probably go as Giegue/Giygas, Ninten or Ness. Likewise, you can never go wrong with anybody from Sonic or Mario. Bonus points if there is a Mephiles or SATAM Robotnik(My two favorite sonic villains.).

To make it even better, they could be Yakuza themed to go along with the gangester Koopas.

Mobster Koopa's and Yakuza Mega Man Mavericks.
I predict a fight.

People forget Daisy? She's pretty much a major character now.

On a Mario note, would an 8 bit Waluigi and Wario be interesting? (Okay, one can argue Wario already had a pixelated version in Mario Land 2, but I'd like to see a Mario 3 style version)

I doubt we will see 8-bit costumes, as they aren't very good for sitting in a theater chair.
