I see you like epic fantasy. May I recommend The One Ring (http://www.cubicle7.co.uk/our-games/the-one-ring/)? It is far superior to MERP, as far as Tolkien RPGs go.

I might look into The One Ring, but MERP is a fine system. I like it for the bleeding edge combat that it delievers. Which is a good segway into the first point you raised. It's quite funny, that whilst I like my fantasy games to have a slight epic feel to them, I much prefer them to be gritty.

But yeah, I'll definitely look into The One Ring, I'm a definite collector and roleplaying groupie!

Gritty, you say? Have you tried Dungeon Crawl Classics (http://www.goodman-games.com/dccrpg.html)? Its really amazing. And the art is just superb.

I'm kind of skint atm. Major house extensions finished and new baby all within 6 months of each other. So I don't have the money to spend on new gaming systems when I have so many already. I'll still see if I can grab a squiz at it though and put it in the want pile.

Thanks

Of course, with GURPS, Maelstrom, True20, MERP, RoleMaster, RuneQuest, WHFRP and the original AD&D games, I've got plenty of gritty fantasy games available already.

Ok I went a bit mad when 3.5 first came out so I have,

Monster manual 1
Spell compendium
Magic item compendium
Magic of incarnum
Drow of the under dark
Complete champion
Complete adventurer
Complete warrior
Complete divine
Complete Mage
Unearthed arcana
Races of stone
Races of the wild
Raves of destiny
Rules compendium
Kingdoms of kalamar players guide
Kingdoms of kalamar campaign setting source book
Adventure 1 by aeg books
Fane of the drow
Maze of zayene - tower of chaos
The invasion of arun'kid
The vault of larin karr
The hall of the rainbow Mage
The root of all evil

Love my splat books very much, but now I have bought myself an Ipad so all my books are now on that, which has made my life so much easier and my back does not hurt anymore carrying around 6-7 books each week.
So these books are now being sold (can be found online here (http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/dungeons-and-dragons/105500251)) off to make way for a new collection of miniatures :smalltongue: as I plan to use the money from the books to bulk up for my latest campagine I will be running.

Describing it by system would be tiresome. It's three bookshelves a total of eight feet high, and about the same in breadth. It ranges wildly in content, and is very complete, including things like all 3.0 and 3.5 books.

Sadly, I think I've read most of it, though I am helped by there being multiple copies of some books(for instance, two sets of Dresden Files).

I've only recently begun to try and collect some things outside of D&D, which was my first and foremost game.

My rather small list:
D&D 3.5 (The three basics, several plat books)
Gamma World d20 (just two of the books)
Super Console PDF (some indie one from DriveThru RPG)
Little Fears (Nightmare Edition)

I feel like I'm forgetting some other things, but I don't know what.

I updated my list to include some things that I had forgotten, and to include the World of Darkness books that I was too lazy to count.

My collection is actually pretty good. It can do well pretty much any genre, especially fantasy.

Shadowrun Core Rulebook 4th edition
Trinity - America Offline, Luna Rising (no core rulebook)
old World of Darkness - multiple
new World of Darkness - multiple

I also have a few others, like Hellfrost (Savage Worlds) and Way of the Naga (Legend of the Five Rings) as books seperate from the system; I liked the setting the presented, and so picked them up anyways.

As you can probably notice, I tend to either buy just core rulebooks to check out the system, or buy a lot of stuff for the system. I have over 30 nWoD books, so you'll excuse me if I don't list them all. :smalltongue: (I'm a bit of a White Wolf fan.) There's also a reason I'm getting out of D&D - I could have three whole systems for the price I pay for a single set of D&D core rulebooks.

My collection is modest at best. I don't buy games just to read about them. I usually only buy a book if I plan on playing the system several times. (I really like the discovery phase of new games where I don't really know how the rules work and can't even pretend to optimize. Once I have books I can't play this way.) I don't buy more than the core books unless I'm GMing.

I have D&D 3.5 core + 5 complete books. D&D 4th core + 3 powers books. Vampire, Mage, GURPS 4th, and MERP.

I have 60+ feet of shelving space dedicated to RPG books and boxed sets. And I have no definitive list of them all. I've been collecting since 1978. It's the largest collection I have ever personally seen but I know there are larger out there. I have a lot of games.
