Okay, first attempt at constructing a world.

Agalashia is the name of the world itself and the only known continent.

It doesn't have a traditional government, instead something closer to the medieval system. A high king keeps general rule and is only called upon in case of extreme emergency. Paying finer attention to law and order are a council of 12 nobles with their own sections of land. Most often, the nobles are entirely self efficient and have to rule on their own. If they truly need assistance the other need to provide food, soldiers, and whatever else may be needed. If the high king feels a noble is not fit to rule, he will be given a chance to retire quietly and be given their own estate. If not, his land is free game for other nobles to take by force. Nobles are free to do as the king does and give land away to their own servants.

Nobles: Any person may become a noble, but only by royal order. Any race is allowed.

The current nobles:

Their is a group of three elven nobles ruling a heavily forested area covering the northeast side of the continent. They generally keep on good terms and freely trade with each other.

Aust Amakiir, male, full elf. Known for being strict with anybody he meets. He even supposedly insulted the king's manners. But he leads armies with uniform discipline.

Antima Galondel, female, half elf. Her territory is the center of trade. She treats everything like a business deal.

Heian Sushon male, full elf. He has a reputation as a diplomat. Nice to everyone without a thought in his head. His territory is also the richest in plants and animals not found anywhere else.

To the southwest are two dwarven warlords, who have somewhat of a friendly rivalry going on. Bordering both of them is border by a partly underground gnome land.

Roondar Turen, male, gnome. Gnome land is a high vacation spot for higher class citizens due to the fact it's the only territory where prostitution is legal and public indecency gets you a pat on the back and a warning.

Brack Wungart, male, dwarf. He may not be completely sane, but keeps the country running. He's forgiven people for murder but once beat a man to death for belching in his presence. His side of the mountain holds a lot of steel and iron.

Ilde Monderk, female, dwarf. A ruler who barely seems to care. She takes full advantage of her position, barely doing anything worthwhile or productive. To everyone's dismay, her kingdom sits on top of the largest mine of precious metals on the continent

Two half orcs rule a great plain style area covering the south east and west.

Lord Dench, half orc male. Much of his land is ruled for him by his own nobles. He instead chooses to go for after his own pleasures, hunting and woman. He exports many furs.

Lord Emen, half orc female. She seems almost desperate to get on everybody's good side. Not for personal gain, just to disprove the image that traditionally comes with the term half orc. Tosses gifts and money around like handfuls of sand.

A halfling rules one of the larger kingdoms into the east.

Verna Grassrunner, halfling, female. A merry soul if their ever was one. Her entourage is made of jesters and bards that entertain wherever they go. Despite the common image, she's another one known for skill in warfare.

The remaining three kingdoms to the east are ruled by two humans

Rorik Tunson, human, male.

Dirk Lordstone, human, male

Saline Burik, human, female

The Capital is located on an island in the center of a lake which in itself is in the center of the country. In it's history it has only been under siege three times. Every time, the enemy army has been completely desecrated before even making it to the base of the hill on which the city lies.Rumors of an ancient creature that serves the kingdom are rampant. Those that did make it to shore were killed off by basic defenses. The hill turns weapons such as boiling oil and rolling logs into lethal beyond belief killers.

Considered part of the capital are a group of small fishing communities on the outer and inner part of the lake that make the city almost entirely self sufficient. They are simply known as 'the outer capital.'

Criminals and bandits roam the lands in their own independent clans, cults, and tribes. On rare occasions a criminal organization based in a major city will surface but most are eventually stomped down by the city guard, or some ragtag group of adventurers.

The land does have a gunpowder like substance called tak that is used to create weapons. Cannons are rare and expensive, but flintlock pistols and muskets are used by higher class adventurers and elite soldiers as crossbow substitutes.

They are expensive weapons, but do good damage. A flintock pistol does a d10 worth of damage for a small creature and a d12 for a medium. It also has a pistol whip that does a d4 worth of damage for a small creature and a d6 for mediums. Take all that and add two for a musket. They each take a full round to reload, but rapid reload applies to these weapons. Reloading a pistol is a free action and a musket is a move action. The most expensive of these weapons can hold up to six bullets but are hugely expensive and rare.

If you don't already have a completely defined map you should definitely work on one, regardless of whether or not you post it, as it always helps to be able to see the world as it actually is and not just how it looks in your mind.
Also, I would suggest working on the history of the continent, and coming up with a reason as to why so many diverse races would be living together in relative peace and harmony. As the natural order of things is that people will fight those who are different than themselves, so coming up with a reason for this multi-cultural unity would be helpful for a better understanding of the greater world.
And, what place, if any, does magic have in your world?
