Can it be done? My memorized knowledge of dnd is generally on arcane casters and artificers, I rarely play a divine character. A friend of mine who hasn't played dnd since 2nd Edition wants to start playing again and wanted to kind of remake his old 2nd ed character, which was a demon blooded cleric with a silverback gorilla as an animal companion (DM gave him the gorilla as part of a back story, I'm not sure if it scaled with him in power, or was basically just a fully trained pet) I figured a Tiefling or lesser tiefling would cover the race, and if there is a way for him to get a pet gorilla, then all the better.
