Okay, so this is a conscept i've been working on for a while, A druid who specializes in the power of wind, thunder, lightning, etc. The problem is i'm not quite sure where to start with it and would like some help. I don't have access to ANY dragon mags or races/magic of eberron books. Most other books should be fine. Assume I'm starting at level 1. Thanks in advance

Stormlord isn't terrible for 3.5.

If you're playing Pathfinder, on the other hand... (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/archetypes/paizo---druid-archetypes/storm-druid)

The Elemental Companion variant from Complete Mage is an option.

Another thing you could do is change the Goliath sub levels to an Air/Storm-based variant.

There are a couple of prcs you could use (such as skypledged, stormcaster and elemental savant, an adapted earth dreamer or stonespeaker guardian could also work) but most of them only advance your spellcasting and not your animal companion nor your wild shape.

I think the Spontaneous Divine (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/spontaneousDivineCasters.htm) variant works very nicely to differentiate "specialist" casters. But I won't pretend it's not a step down, power-wise.

So I do like the idea of this, However, do you think it would be to Unbalancing for me to ask my DM to allow me to gain a Storm elemental (pg 48 MM III) rather then an air elemental?

Thanks for the help everyone and keep the advice coming.

If some finely crafted homebrew is an option, there's the Stormwatcher (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=11230295#post11230295) from here on the Playground. Not the same power level as the druid, and perhaps more subtle, but it certainly fits the stormrider flavor. Why summon an elemental when you can become one?

You definitely want the Raiment of the Stormwalker set from MIC pg. 205.

4,000 Stormfire ring 5/day Faerie fire deals 1d6 damage round/5 rounds
11,000 Bracers of lightning attacks deal 1d6 electricity damage
38,000gp Robe of Thunder take half or no damage from sonic attacks and deal
damage to attackers
50,000gp Cloudwalker Anklets continuous airwalk

Bonus collection benefits
2 pieces 3/day obscuring mist
3 pieces 1/day call lightning
4 pieces half or no damage from lightning

Edit* You can use all the effects of every piece while wild shaped :smallwink:

I am... quite fond of this. Druids with two domains and spontaneous casting from those domains? I can live with that. "I turn into a roc, create a hurricane, and fly around unaffected by any wind" is... a lot of fun. It REALLY has that "avatar of nature's fury" down pat.

I LOVE IT!!! I'll need to check with my DM but he is pretty reasonable. Also love the Idea of the pathfinder. Thank you guys for all the help. If anyone else has any more suggestions I would love to hear them.

Sadly you don't have Dragon Magazine. Dragon Magazine #328 has a Storm Druid.
