I haven't run a mage in forever.

Ghandlov

An aging wizard at odds with the elders of his college, forced to earn a living on the road

Strength: 5

Int 6 - able and learned spell chucker

Dex 5 - still gets around, and out of the way, well enough

Con 4 - tough old bird

Str 3 - isn't the man he once was

Wis 2 - a little absent minded

Chr 1 spent too many years as a hermit

The cleft in the rock was where the barmaid said it would be: a morning's walk past the abandoned farmstead, through the sparse woods into the foothills.

The way was well marked - the goblins scratched tribal glyphs on almost every tree and on the large stone Ghandlov sat on eating a stale bun. He finished the bun, looked at the cleft, looked at the way he came, and he checked the position of the Sun. He brushed the crumbs from his beard and took a long drink from his waterskin.

At the mouth of the cleft he cast a light spell on the end of his staff.

The staff glowed with a soft clear torch light.

The cleft opened to a large chamber.

With that roll he should have thrown a Fireball.

A 1 is an automatic success, the Goblin gets a roll to save vs full damage?

Uh, if so, here is my human fighter.

Since he's a normal fighter his name is just Eric.

A strapping fighter appears from the cleft in the stone.

Ghandlov: "So you are here for part of the Count's bounty on these vermin."

There is a wide passage opposite the cleft across the high ceiling chamber.

There is a a second passage on the right side of the chamber.

You get your choice of melee and missile weapons.

Remember melee combat is an Opposed Roll and missile combat is a Skill Roll.

Absolutely. Each weapon is an opposed roll.
