View Full Version : Sanity Points?

I am about to join a new campaign and as a favor to the DM I'm trying to help her find a way to make this feature work in her campaign.
The basic concept is that every character will have some "sanity points" based on class, level and one ability score. (some races may grant bonus points as well)
Throughout the adventures, we will encounter various horrific scenes that may cause us to lose our sanity points. As a character's sanity goes down, they may start to see or hear things that aren't there, their attack and reaction time may go down, and they may take more damage. At 0 points and below, the players will lose control of their characters, causing Insanity (continuous Confusion).

We were thinking that bards, clerics and paladins would be the main classes able to restore a person's sanity. We just don't know how at the moment. Maybe have their divine healing spells also restore a bit of sanity?

This is just a rough idea at the moment but thoughts on how to fine tune it would be greatly appreciated.

May or may not be what you're looking for, but this (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/campaigns/sanity.htm) is worth a look.
