Inspired by this comic (http://www.smbc-comics.com/index.php?db=comics&id=1673#comic) as well as movies such as Cowboys and Aliens, I think it would be interesting to build a list of genres for random RPG mashups. I'm not sure how well it would work in practice, but it would probably stimulate some strange game ideas. I wonder if we could get a list to 100. You would randomly roll d100 twice, and combine the two results into one weird game.

1. Cowboys
2. Stone Age
3. Pirates/Waterworld
4. Victorian
5. Steampunk
6. Cyberpunk
7. Desert

82. Inter-dimensions/Inter-planar
83. Video game characters
84. Disaster story (ie Armageddon, 2012, The Day After Tomorrow)
85. Amnesia story
86. Tournament
87.

Quarter of the Half way there Just 20 14 more to go. I'll update as people add new ideas. I generated one mashup using just the first 20 seeds on a d20, and got Victorian-era zombie apocalypse!

I think we're starting to see some overlap in genres (ie, "musical" can encompass classical music and metal), but we aren't at 100 yet, so they all stay. Such themes would need a sub-table just to cover the different possibilities.

Funny you should mention that.

Took in the latest Spiderman movie last night, and the one thing I came away from it that I didn't share with my dear wife (who is also a gamer)...

...are my plans for revenge by a deeply hidden cabal of lycanthropes somewhere in the Eldeen Reaches to somehow construct an eldrich machine and transport it to Flamekeep, causing it (once activated) to infect most of the population with lycanthropy.

We're up to 80 here! Are we running out of ideas? Some are sort of overlapping, but I'll leave them for now.
