Greco This clean shaven man with Auburn hair always seems to be smiling. He is currently sporting a grey traveler cloak over his chainshirt; this cloak possess a small emblem of two horizontally adjacent circles, one silver and one gold, connected by a thick black lineleads slowly, just a few paces ahead of the wagons; despite not sleeping much for the last week, barely eating and his constant scouting and patrolling, he doesn’t seem the least bit winded.

“Just ahead! Ah, I can already taste the fun!” Stonecrest's stone and brick buildings are finally drawing near, just as the sun starts to dip over the horizon. You can no longer see the closest part of the forest to its North, the tree line only a hundred or so feet to the city’s North allows a scent of earth and trees to flow down past the party. This only occasionally overpowers the heavy smell of roasting meat, blowing in from the west of the town. From around there you can also hear cheering and loud, raucous laughter.
---
While you make your final approach, something seems…off. That whole region of the town seems far too brightly lit. The smell of well-cooked meat has become the stench of burning wood and flesh. Although the cheering has not stopped, there are occasional screams of anguish or fear thrown into the mix.

"Wait...wait, that ain't just a welcome party; thats a real party!. You! Um...transport...man...Stay here! Everyone else, lets go check this out!" Greco doesn't wait for responses, running ahead to the town.

When roughly fifty feet away from the closest stone houses, a rather large patrol of humanoid warriors passes down the street interconnecting with the one you will be on soon; each has a weapon drawn, although some are sporting only light armor or robes.

One toward the back stops and does a double take. “Wer caex di miirik! Temep, oplin svern! Jivi zexenuma. Krer vur kaldra nahilnop maulk. Lyriki spical; eligne sorwhitaj!” Almost all of the warriors scatter, leaving five behind.

Three of those left behind are heavily armored, with only two of these beings near the back of the original patrol (to the left of the group now) sporting what look like ritualistic robes.
----
“You heard ‘em, tykes! I’ll do the best part, you six take care of these pathetic little guys. ~Ya?~” Greco’s shout becomes an inspired hum near the end of his orders. With that, he takes a running leap; he neatly lands on a house’s roof ten or twenty feet behind the five warriors and continues along his merry way.

Otoka hisses and grasps his chest. “N-no. Ki…Kira!” Is all he manages to wheeze out before he slumps over and falls from his horse; his purse jingles pleasantly as he hits the ground. The animal whinnies and takes off the moment its rider falls.

X and Y devote a moment to weaving their hands through the air and chanting. Immediately, Armored warrior 3 and armored warrior 2 grow in size, their bodies expanding until they would match a troll in height.

Armored Warriors 1 and 3 turn to each other, nod and then take a running start at your group. The moment they reach Faust, each belts out a mighty scream and attacks with their long sword. From this distance, it is easy to see that the warriors are Hobgoblins, with extremely short red-orange hair.

Seeing the enemy forces divided, with one cluster focused around Faust and the other besides Hobgoblin warrior 2 who is now much larger than most men, Giblin speaks the trigger word for the eternal hail of Stones wand focusing its magic at the three far away enemies.
*The Hail of stones hits RW X, RW Y and AW 2 for 11 damage each. While the Armored warrior merely seems annoyed, the Robed Warriors seems to be in severe pain.

Kavita’s starts her song just as Darian takes his shot at Robed Warrior X…who falls, first to his knees and then to the ground. His labored breathing is rather loud and pained; enough so to suggest he won’t be up for a right for quite some time.

Seeing his ally fall, Armored Warrior 2 sheaths his weapon and lifts Robed Warrior X into his arms Bridal style. “Si zklaen troth isthasy. Si gethrisj. Wux geou slathalin algbo.” he says to his comrades.

Distracted by her injuries, Faust’s punches are too slow to land upon Armored warrior 1. The hobgoblin grins cruelly as he prepares to take his revenge.

Hoping for the best, he immediately takes off running to the left; he passes out sight running behind the buildings almost immediately.

Armored warrior 1 raises his sword, clearly intending to make an attack that would end Faust’s life.
* AW 1 attack: [roll5]
AW1 damage: [roll6]

The hail of stones from Giblin’s attack seriously injure both the fallen Robed Warrior X and the still standing Armored Warrior 2.

Kavita’ attack nails Armored Warrior 2 in the arm, just a moment before Darian reaches the warrior and attacks the same place. The timing for the attacks is impeccable and, with that, Armored Warrior 2 falls to his knees and then collapses over his Robed companion, blood pooling around the pair.

Seeing this, both of the remaining Armored Warriors howl furiously. You can, very clearly, hear their armor straining to contain their rage enhanced muscles.

Round 1
As your team attacks Warrior 1, howling of wolves and dogs sound off in the distance. The sound intensifies until the ground itself seems to be shaking, before suddenly ending. There is no tapering off or lingering notes of a single wolf; all at once the howling ends, just as rapidly as it began. The odor of burning flesh and wood grows just after the haunting sound ends, with smoke drifting in from the West.

Round 2
Warrior 1 waivers, severely injured and worn down as your team pummels him. At almost the same moment, the muscles of Warrior 1 and 3 shrink down to normal; to the relief of their armor, to be sure. Warrior 1 finally collapses as Faust backhands him.

Round 3
“Oy! Done playin’ around yet?” Greco's voice seems to come from behind you but his silhouette stands atop a burning house to the North, just a little west of the direction disappeared in. “Who am I kidding? So Gib is leading the party to the party? Wonderful:
Greco barely waits for your team to get closer before taking off, bouncing West and North across roof tops. Gtom the ground, you all struggle to keep up to his speed when you can see him. What had been a mere unpleasant stench of thoroughly burned flesh when you were farther South and East steadily becomes overpowering. Either the source of is drawing near, or there is much more burning than there had been earlier.

Giblin, who took the lead, does his best to keep an eye on Greco as the gaps between houses become smaller and the fire you are approaching draws nearer or greater. After thirty seconds of following the manic man, Giblin unfortunately loses sight of him for a moment too long and Greco vanishes completely.

You have pursued Greco deep into town, taking what seemed to be random turns to work you further North and West. On the edge of town houses were typically wooden huts; here the houses are seem to all be composed of brick and stone. Even the ground beneath your feet has improved, changing from simple dirt to smooth cobblestone. While the edge of town possessed simple market stalls, you now catch glimpses of full and proper buildings devoted to selling specific wares.

The town –all of it mind you- has been strangely vacant since you left the band of enemy warriors behind. Not a single candlelight glows within a window and you cannot spy a single person.

Your goal couldn’t be far now, whether you are led there properly or wander there on your own. Unfortunately, all of the turns Greco had you make –sometimes even taking you East or back south briefly- have left you a bit confused as to which direction that goal is in.

You hear a faint and rhythmic sound; although you cannot make out exactly what it is, you can distinguish that it pulses at strange intervals.

If you focus on this sound for more than a few seconds, a wave of nausea washes over you and you feel a strong pull deep in the core of your body that directs you through buildings to what could only be the sound’s source; to the right and slightly behind you.

Although you are slightly distracted by more pressing matters, none of you miss a short man clothed in ragged and worn robes which hide his features peeking out from behind a building ahead of you and to the left and whimpering “Oh no… Please, don’t let them hurt me again…”

It takes you far too long to navigate through the town, the haunting sounds increase in intensity as you approach to the point of it almost sounding frantic. As you dart down passages between buildings and careen down proper streets briefly, more and more odd citizens appear; each is matted with filth, though any particular one may be weeping, cowering in fear of you, or humming along with the sound.

Strangely, there seems to be one at every point where you must make a turn or the path becomes slightly less obvious for a moment. When you must dart through a metal gate a woman who could only be a beggar screeches “Their Ultimate Revenge! None-“ The rest is cut off as she grasps at her throat, choking silently. As your group passes, Greco’s voice comes from her “Go on! You’re almost there!”

Relief washed through each of you in turn as you turn a corner and finally, instead of a dead end or another street, you see a massive bonfire blazing at the center of what had to be a festival feast. Along the fire Kobolds move in rhythm with the strange sounds; their movements seem more like puppets being jerked along by invisible strings, some being dragged a step and others staying in the air just a moment too long as they leap.

Even with their strange movements they maintain a perfect orbit around the fire, only a few steps away from being part of the blaze.

Just as this comes within your sight, a squadron of twenty Hobgoblin warriors – some robed, some in armor and each wielding a different weapon or no weapon at all – walk purposefully into the fire, taking care to not to bump into a kobold. Two vanish abruptly as their bodies reach the flame. The other eighteen collapse screaming as they are immolated; a some turn back but they seem unable to step free and eventually they collapse, sinking down and leaving range of sight.

*Please make either a will or fortitude save (your choice), followed by a will save.

“Quite a natty-do for ‘em, eh?” Greco jumps down from the roof above you, landing amidst you. A moment later his sword spears into the ground at his side. “Burn up or…well, I can sure tell you the other option is worst by far. None of ‘em are gonna be walkin’ out though.”

His grin looks almost large enough to split his face as he pushes through your group, dragging his sword along as he steps out of the alleyway you all occupy. “I’m gonna go poke it.”

Whooping with joy Greco leaps the twenty-ish feet between you and the balefire, bowling over a dancing kobold and three hobgoblin warriors, and vanishes into the fire the moment he touches it.

The flame literally roars, reaches a surprising new height after Greco travels through it. The sounds and dancing stop, with every Kobold and warrior you can see turning to face you.

The still burning body of a Hobgoblin warrior twists and howls, but he does not vanish as others did. Instead he stands, turns and steps free of the fire, his pained voice dying out as he breaches the flames.

Large batwings knit together from ash and smoke behind him. His eyes glow with a cruel red fury brighter and more dangerous than the fire he had been trapped within moments earlier. Where he once possessed short black hair, his head is now covered with dozens of wicked horns; several more tiny horns burst through his Plate mail and if the obvious bulges in his armor are any indicator, more lurk just barely under the confines of his metallic defense. The Long sword he held ready earlier melts out of his now clawed hands, but he doesn’t really seem to mind.

“You should not have interrupted out ceremony, nonbelievers.” He rasps, smoke billowing out of his mouth for the first few words. “Our master did not appreciate it. G’Hryasph-Nal will not appreciate it. Wux lyriki, winid nomeno!”

The Monstrous warrior takes a step forward, placing himself between your team an the scrambling Kobolds who are now throwing powders onto the fire and singing non-words frantically. “Come die for your transgressions!”

Darian acknowledges the illusory wall and turns toward the nearest building. He begins scaling the wall to reach the roof [roll0] making it 20 feet up the building.

IF he reaches the roof, he will climb up onto it [roll1] and lie prone, aiming his crossbow.

IF he doesn't reach the roof he will take aim at the foe over the wall. ([roll2] to hit, [roll3] damage, [roll4] possible crit for [roll5] damage)
