Nazgulnine's Into the Eddy | A Dungeon Run
http://s19.postimage.org/ghbu1jayr/Desert_Temple.jpg

Rising out of the sand is a spire the likes of which you may have seen before in travel guides or the latest explorer's tome. An Elven ruin, a structure from an age long gone, when ships cut through the sky, and when West Aberria was once a land teeming with wildlife. This place was once called the elven metropolis Dinas Emrys. The cliffside you rest on is to the western edge of the tower, overlooking the entrance, two great stone doors sealed to entry - and a set of staired tiers several feet up leading up to a great platform and what looks to be a terraced room. But you'd have to climb-or fly-up there now.

Standing on the edge of the cliff, Aleiko wanted nothing more than to jump off and glide above the desert, but his companions would have to descend the cliff slowly, and then what would he do? Aleiko turned his attention to the cliff-face, determining the difficulty of the decent, and its height above the valley floor.

Snakey

Taking out a single Tankard of Ale from his haversack, Snakey cheered himself, and took one large gulp of the juice, before it was gone almost as fast as he started drinking it. He pulled at one of his waterskins, and refilled the tankard with ale. Before closing the lid, Snakey stared at the drink, and shrugged. "Another couldn't hurt." And with that, he took another swig, finishing off the glass like a true professional.

He understood they had started climbing without him, but he felt more empowered with Ale in his belly. So, he decided to refill, but not redrink, his Tankard for the second time, placing it in his haversack. He stumbled to the wall, essentially buzzed, but not terribly, and focused on the ascension to the destination.

Looking up at the climb ahead and relishing in a good workout, Zar took a running jump and a mighty leap to start his climb... Launching himself barely over 6 feet off of the ground to start his climb.

The half naked man was well suited for a task like this, dressed in naught but his traveling leathers, worn leather pants and boots Zar knew he could rely on his Draconic claws if need be.

"First to the top wins, first to the bottom dies!" he roars with a deep throaty laugh.

Despite your boastings Zar, the grim-faced half-giant is the one who reaches the top before you while Aleiko, a black-and-maroon-feathered tengu, manages to scramble his way up after the rest of the group.

After some time climbing, you all manage to climb the first twenty-eight foot tier as the sun moves five feet in the sky. Standing at the foot of a staircase that spirals around the length of the tower, you notice that the top is another thirty feet above you. With the sun overhead and an arid wind at your backs, you are now faced with a choice.

Aleiko, Zar, and BetaThe sound of clanking chain is audible from the top of the tower.

Climbing the stairs seems a simple enough task, and despite the Ophidian monk's rambling and stumbling, you seem to be in the clear as you reach the top of the tower. Before then, it hits you: the clanking sound has ceased, and your feet are slapping loudly against the stone steps.

As you reach the top step, there are six men garbed in black robes, four of whom appear to be wearing iron platemail beneath their robes.
"Who are you and what are you doing here!?" A male catfolk shouts, a silver greataxe in his hands. He is backed up by the three armored men, each wielding a mirrored shield and glittering longsword. The two unarmored robe-wearers are an elf and human woman, both of whom carry well-hewed oaken staves.

The ophidian's singing reminded Aleiko of the pirate crew he once sailed with, and he almost missed the absence of other sound. Revelation came too late to put an end to it, so when they reached the top, Aleiko had a plan
Would you believe I'm a traveling merchant and these are my escorts and pack-mules? Speaking nonchalantly, Aleiko intended to neutralize the cultist's initiative, before the inevitable cat-kicking broke out.

Could I interest you in some potions? or some alchemicst's acid? Aleiko couldn't keep himself from chirping slightly in humor

The flurry of blows is swift atop the temple.

Aleiko's bombs splash against the ground, and even as the robed guards take a step back, they are caught in the blast of the Tengu's explosives, which provide enough cover for Beta's swing to clip the nearest fighter in the side, denting the man's armor and knocking him around like a child.

Snakey's rapid strikes are incredibly dodged at each last moment by the human man, who seems put to silence by the snakelike man's speed. He skips around Snakey's side and swings, but the Ophidian is too deft and dodges the swing.

The fight takes a swift tilt in your favor as your group combats the cultists.

The knight to his side swings at Beta, the edge of his blade missing and striking stone. He brings the blade up again, striking Beta in the elbow, shaving off part of the half-giant's weenis and olecranon. The paladin brings his sword down once more, making a gash in Beta's thigh.

The human cleric continues to pray, arms extended to the sky, luminescent energy swirling around her. The elf cleric smirks from her position behind the pillar and raises her arms to the sky, a surge of violet light rising beneath herself, the catfolk and the unconscious knight.

Round 7 - "At Least It Hits"
Map:http://s19.postimage.org/yf0u49w3n/temple_top4.png

Zar's strike seems to have hurt the cleric, despite her sandlike form. As Zar swings down, cutting the sand in two, Aleiko's bolt ricochets from the stone, flying through the woman-shaped cloud of dust and barely missing striking Beta clean in the skull as he stoops to deliver his finishing blow to the paladin, who falls to the ground, heartless.

The knight opposite Beta rushes between him and Aleiko, bringing his sword down over the half-giant, swinging into his inertial armor and leaving Beta with a bruise he'd be feeling until tomorrow.
He's doing [roll0] damage

The infernal paladin Snakey strikes makes a riposte, seeing Snakey's headbutt with the blunt of his sword. The two make such a resounding crunching sound as they exchange blows that no one is sure whom injured whom, but both men feel nothing from their clash of skin, bone, and steel.

The chain-wrapped woman remains in place, dancing and spinning. She whips three of her chains around and catches them in the dead Catfolk's and Beta's skin, tearing their flesh.
Beta's gonna get [roll1][roll2][roll3] damage.

The dust-formed cleric takes a step away from Zar and waves her arms in an eerily impossible manner, being formed of sand, and summons a column of fire from beneath Zar's feet.
I need a reflex save, Zman. DC 20.

The human cleric continues to pray at the altar.

Aleiko
The Tengu alchemist takes a swift step back from the approaching knight and raises his crossbow, firing into the kyton and cleric.

Beta roars as the attack fails to really scratch him, turning on his new foe and striking out with both claws in a flurry of strikes. He then tilts his head back and laughs. "You aren't going to beat me like that you foolish weakling. Go call up a few more friends. Maybe you'll stand a chance at scratching me then!!!

Round 8: "Kytons Have a +40 in Perform:Bondage"
Map: http://s19.postimage.org/gqva586v7/temple_top4.png

The half-elf cleric takes a swing and a bolt that seemingly strike her true form, collapsing on the floor at Zar's feet, unconscious.

The human cleric seemingly responds to Snakey's threat, giggling as she conjures up three giant scorpions that crawl away from her across the battlefield, one attempting to sting Snakey in the back of the calf, but missing as the ophidian shifts weight mid-strike and clobbers the paladin.

The paladin fighting Snakey misses his flurry of swings, still clouded by frustration.

Aleiko's bomb rolls behind the paladin, releasing a burst of flaming wind that pushes him into Beta's claws, releasing a heavy flow of blood as the man now sports a new opening in his stomach.

The kyton seems to be half-weeping and half-laughing, spinning in a dance of bladed chains that strike Beta twice.
"Do you not revel in the ecstasy of such pain?" she asks in a smoldering, ethereal tone.
[roll0][roll1] damage from 2 chains after a lucky roll.

Beta

Beta turned on the woman, and roared, leaping at her to shove both of his claws in towards her gut, ripping them out towards the sides to leave gashes where he managed to hit. "You call that pain? You've got a lot of work to do before you can even think to threaten me like that wench!!"

Dodging with grace from every blow, Snakey takes a second to think once the summoned scorpion comes into play. Thinking for a second, he winds up, and unleashes a certain attack that, upon contact, sickens the paladin for a while.

After the attempt to damage his foe, Snakey withdraws five feet, and stands in his universal stance.
