I still say Admiral Ackbar should be a rogue.

How else could he spot traps so well?

COnsidering the other obscure names you listed, you really should know who Boba Fett is :smalltongue:

The problem is that none of the rogues in Oots have demonstrated any great capacity at identifying traps. Although we could always cast the kobold who ended up as Mr. Scruffy's stool/shield/trap activator.

Expand to the EU, Call Haley Mara Jade (if Elan is still Luke, which is perfect in my eyes) and lets figure out who could work as Tyrannus and Maul.

Cos Tarquin strikes me more as the refined Count Dooku type than Darth Vader. Vader is more blunt and direct than that and so works as a blunt and straightforward sort of villain. not sure who to use though.

Er, whyyyy? If anything, Xykon should be Palpatine.

The IFCC should be Jabba the Hutt, given that V is now highly indebted to them.

I get the joke, but my inner nerd must point out that he said "It's a trap!" AFTER it was sprung and they were being fired upon.

You'd have to have a negative intelligence and wisdom score not to spot it at that point.

In trope-talk, it's called Rule of Funny. In general conversation, it's called 'because that would be hilarious.' In subtext, it's called 'they're secretly a Redcloak/Xykon shipper... Redkon... Xykloak. Yeah, Xykloak.

To be fair, nobody else was pointing out that it was a trap. It takes a wise man to state the blatantly obvious.

Darth Maul's easy--he's the half-orge with a spiked chain.

And that's a really sad example of how much the potential of the Darth Maul character was wasted in The Phantom Menace--the half orge has about 5 times as much dialogue as Maul.

I can see that. But I think Mauls character was shown by his acting in the action scene and really well done.

And Julio is the perfect Obi-Wan, assuming again Elan is Luke.

Lucas had to make room for Jar Jar's dialogue somehow.

If Luke is Elan, then Ben Kenobi is obviously Julio Scoundrel.
Your Xykon and Redcloak makes no sense at all either.
Shojo or Hinjo make more sense as Admiral Ackbar too.

I'd switch Elan and Haley around. Elan always wanted to be Roys brother after all :)
Nale as Jabba? Please, the Empress of Blood is like made for it :) Nale could be Boba Fett. In which case Elan being Han makes some sense again.

Ugh, this sort of argument always crops up in these threads, mostly because of unclear OPs. What is compared? Physical or personal characteristics? Priorities? Actions? Narrative role?

Gift Jeraff
2012-07-21, 11:12 PM
Well, I based my list mostly on narrative role + personality. Occasionally appearance factored in.

Luke/Roy is the protagonist. He gets a green glowy sword.

Han/Elan and Leia/Haley are the 2nd/3rd most important characters, are the only other humans in the main cast, and have a romantic subplot with each other. Also, Elan looks like Locke Cole who looks like Han. I considered switching them, and swapping the Linear Guild for the Thieves' Guild. After all, Haley was sort of trapped in carbonite.

R2/Belkar is the lovably obnoxious little guy.

V-3PO is prissy. (This is my weakest one, IMO.)

Obi-Wan/Durkon is a wise bearded guy, closest to the main protagonist. Dies/will die.

Chewbacca/Scruffy is the team pet.

Yoda/the Oracle is a short, quirky "wise guy" approached by Luke/the OOTS at least twice.

Palpy/Xykon is the pure evil big bad and Vader/Redcloak is the "tragic" right-hand man who loses a body part, which symbolically mirrors a close relative. (It's like poetry; they rhyme.)

Tarkin/Tsukiko is a pretty major ally of the above 2 but dies much earlier in the story.

Stormtroopers/hobgoblins are the primary mooks.

Jabba/Nale is the head secondary antagonist, who is after Han/Elan.

Boba Fett's backpack got jets. Sabine has wings, will fly.

Jabba's rancor/Thog is Jabba/Nale's muscle. I didn't even have Luke/Roy in mind when I first thought of this...

Jabba's jester sorta looks like a kobold.

Sy Snootles/Jenny is a musician in a villainous hive of scum.

The sarlacc/MitD is an ugly thing that eats a lot and is confined to a certain spot.

Lando-Chul and Lien Nunb head towards the Death Star/Kraagor's Gate while the primary heroes go to Endor's moon/Girard's Gate.

Akbar/Hinjo is a coordinator, I guess.

When the Rebel Alliance finally shows some racial diversity, the token minorities/elves die.

Wedge/Niu are surviving tertiary characters.

The Force/Banjo is a state of mind, not microorganisms/just a puppet.

The Death Snarl is the big bad WMD the heroes are out to stop the main villains from using.

Luke Skywalker: Elan
-Young, naive hero on a journey of self-discovery and a speciality sword(or rapier) based class.

Darth Vader: Tarquin
-Young, naive hero's evil father.

Emperor Palpatine: The IFCC
-String-pulling evil masterminds.

Han Solo (Luke's new love interest): Hale
-Charming roguish love interest. Luke had brief moments of romance with Leia before realising she was his sister, Haley had brief moments of romance with Nale before realising he wasn't Elan.

Chewbacca: Belkar
-Haley's sidekick. Kind of an alternative character interpretation for Chewbacca.

Princess Leia: Nale
-Elan's brother, has a history of appearing as a hologram/sending. (Yeah, the second point is weak.)

C3PO: Vaarsuvius
-Verbose, somewhat arrogant machine; verbose, extremely arrogant wizard.

R2D2: Durkon
-Hypercompetent when it counts, short, hangs out with V.

Admiral Ackbar: Roy
-Supporting leader (sort of), they've both unwittingly stumbled into traps... they're both not white?

Ben Kenobi: Julio Scoundrel
-Cool old guys who teach the hero the ways of the Force/Dashing Swordsman.

Yoda: Shojo
-Cool, extremely old trickster mentors who die.

Ewoks: Mr. Scruffies (plural Mr. Scruffy)
-Diminutive killers.

Lando Calrissian: Sabine
-Dark-skinned rogue who has a rivalry with Han Solo/Haley Starshine

Empire Bureauracrat: Kilkil
-Should appear somewhere in the movie.

Storm Troopers: Thog, Zz'dtri, Yikyokyuk.
-See: Kilkil

Rebel Commander: Hinjo
-See: Kilkil

Rebel Soldiers: O-Chul, Miko, Lien, Thanh, Niu
-See: Kilkil

Owen Lars: Xykon
Beru: Redcloak (Contractually obliged to cuddle at least once on-panel)
-Because it would be funny, ok. Not every pick needs to make sense!

Curtain-Puller: MitD
-Because he's so good at it.

Audience: Demon-Roaches
-See: Kilkil

They even both suffer mouth attacks that give Luke/Roy a temporary advantage.

I like Gift Jeraff's list better.

That being said... do you know those parodies of well known stories that Rich likes to do? Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet... you've seen them.
I hate them. I've seen those stories "re-told" hundreds and hundreds of times, under a different light each time, often as a parody... Disney does that every other week, for example.

However, this one would be one that I'd gladly see. Too bad the copyright rules won't allow it.

I'm not at all sure that's true, actually.

Parody is protected speech.

That said, if you're hoping to have Rich write and/or draw it, you'd better be a millionaire and ready to pay through the nose for him to interrupt working on the webcomic that's actually his original work to write/draw something else.
