I would like to improve my Wildshape...

I was thinking about this two feats:
- Assume Supernatural Ability
- Metamorphic Transfer

And I was wondering, why should anyone take the first over the second?

Metamorphic Transfer costs a level as you need to take one level as Psionic Warrior with the bonus feat Praticed Manifester, but after level 6 you can get any single supernatural ability you need.

The other one does not cost a level, but you are forced deciding a supernatural ability and only it. Beside you have other maluses.

I am missing something?

Firstly, a level and a feat is a big investment. Secondly and corollary to that, it can only be used at level six or later. Thirdly, nijineko (http://www.enworld.org/forum/d-d-legacy-discussion/314838-druid-wild-shape-assume-supernatural-ability-feat.html#post5744648) states:

note that the feat does not seem to clearly state that it must apply to the same supernatural ability each time. due to the fact that you are somehow magically or psionically assuming another form, and you can choose different forms each time, you should be able to pick which supernatural ability you are using each time you take a form with (SU) abilities.

I can back this up as I read the feat now. It only implicates otherwise in the Special section of the feat which states:

You can take this feat multiple times. [...] Each time you take this feat, it applies to a different special ability.

Fourth, some of the "maluses" can be mitigated by the improved version of the Assume Supernatural Ability feat. Fifth, the legitimacy of Savage Species (http://www.enworld.org/forum/d-d-legacy-discussion/170128-3-5-version-savage-species.html) is questionable.
