Cheap and easy ways to get initiative?

If am stuck with only the dungeon master guide, what are folks suggestions for cheap options on increasing a initiative if you have a low dex.

Core only, Improved Initiative is pretty much your only choice.

If you can get access to the Magic Item Compendium, you can slap both the Warning and Eager properties on a weapon to net you +7 to initiative.

Improved Initiative (feat) gives +4
Yondalla's Sense (feat) for halflings only (RoS) gives wisdom modifier to initiative checks
Marshal 1 can give charisma modifier to all dexterity ability and skill checks (Initiative is a dexterity check)


Marking of the Hunter feat requires Goliath race and the Auspicious Marking feat, but allows rolling 2 dice and taking the best result for initiative 3/day
