Psions and magic items, please help a new DM

Ok so I have been DMing for a group a while now and we reached 9th lvl. The problem is that there is a psion character in the group and all of us are new to psionics. As a result most of his loot is still in gold coins (about 20.00gp). What do you think would be a good magic item for a psion? He plays an egoist if that helps.
His only magic item is a translocation anklet. :smallfrown:

Well, stat mod items are always useful. Headband of intellect for example improves a caster or manifesters's DCs (and extra spell slots or power points).

There's plenty of options that don't have to be psionics-specific:

AC/save boosting items
Stat-boosting items (as suggested above)
Extradimensional storage
General consumables like potions
Wondrous/Universal items

In addition, there are a few caster items that work for manifesters as well. For instance, pearls of power double as cognizance crystals, and ioun stones work for manifesters too. (They work even better in some cases - lavender stones that burn out can restore a single power point to a psion before crumbling to dust.)

All good ideas but is there a single powerful magic item for a psion, near the price of 20.000gp? Everyone in the group has one item that is more special and I think that's the reason he is saving his gold, waiting to find a single item to buy but I don't know what would be good for a psion.

The special power-boosting item for psions is the Headband of Intellect. Same with all int-based casters. Seriously, it's probably the best magic item he can get.

Just remember. YOU CANNOT SPEND MORE PP ON A POWER THAN YOUR MANIFESTER LEVEL.

Assuming Magic-psionics transparency, Circlet of Rapid Casting is really nice on psionics-users. Along with a Torc of power preservation, that runs about 20k.

EDIT:
Just noticed that the anklet was the only magic item, rather than the only interesting magic item. If that's the case, a Circlet of Rapid Casting +Int is probably going to be useful later, but a +Int item and a Torc of Power Preservation +Con are probably the highest priorities now.

A Ring of Arcane Might (Ring of Psionic Might?), from the MIC, translated to affect Psionics would be a very good item, and precisely at the price range.

Possibly too good. A high manifester level is even more important and powerful than a high caster level.

MIC replaced it. It sounds like a lot of people ignore it as a nerf, but being affordable for someone with 20k is a bit of an upside.

That's not the only reason people skip it though - not every group has MIC either after all, whereas the SRD is free and open.
