Better read this warning (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/07/30/psa-possible-security-risk-in-some-ubisoft-pc-games/). Here's how to disable (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/forums/showthread.php?5725-Ubisoft-DRM-is-a-security-risk#4) backdoor, list of vulnerable games (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4311264), and vulnerability test (http://pastehtml.com/view/c6gxl1a79.html) if you might be affected.

Hmm, I wonder what scurvy dogs of the seas think about it :smallsigh:

I know I bought a game of theirs and will be replacing my legal, DRM-stricken version with a barnacle covered one...

And people wonder why I'm a console gamer these days.

Does Ubi even make anything moddable enough to justify needing a PC for? I can't think of any huge changes to make to Assassin's Creed for instance - nothing even close to what I'd want for Skyrim or Mass Effect.

After e3 and their previous trend of backtracking on certain DRM features, it looked like Ubisoft was making an effort to not be a permanent member of the 'worst of the business' club for their policies...

And then this happens.
Well now if BG&E2 happens, it'll be shipped with a DRM suite with a history of malware!

The vulnerability test just has a menu saying I don't have the plug-in to view it. I take it that's good?

All you need to do is to install missing plugins to be sure :smallwink::smalltongue:

Way I found the plugin was to just go to my list of plugins in google chrome. Saw it there, and got rid of it.

Well there was the Rainbow six Nato weapon mod which was AWESOME!
though that was some time ago ^^

Also the Zombie mod which was quite good especially since the amount of zombie games was quite low at that time ie no l4d ^^

Thanks for the warning! Luckily, Heroes of M&M 5 is not on the list, so I'm safe. Still, I won't buy one of their games again anytime soon.
