Anyone know of songs like the ones shown in the Wheel of Time universe? I'm playing a character soon, and every other sesssion is normally roleplaying where everyone shares,a story, poem, etc. I love the ones from Wheel of Time and would love to be able to fine more. Links would be great, and any help is already appreciated. Just general old, medieval style songs would be wonderful. Or poems involving war, loss, loss of trust, etc. I'm playing a character who's trying to find a reason to go back to being a fighter. And he devours stuff like I've mentioned.

Owain Phyfe does a lot of medieval and renaissance era songs, and is easy to find online (including lyrics). His style sounds a bit more modern, but the tunes are often very catchy. It might be a way to start your search.

Google "SCA songs". There's a huge number of period style verse and songs out there.

Nightwish (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5juc6fmgylw) has some music with this kind of feel.

Manowar is also good for a Norse feel, maybe if you just pull the lyrics.

The middle bit from "MacArthur Park" -- see if anyone recognizes it.

There will be another song for me
For I will sing it
There will be another dream for me
Someone will bring it

I will drink the wine while it is warm
And never let you catch me looking at the sun
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life, you'll still be the one

I will take my life into my hands and I will use it
I will win the worship in their eyes and I will lose it
I will have the things that I desire
And my passion flow like rivers through the sky

And after all the loves of my life
Oh, after all the loves of my life
I'll be thinking of you and wondering why

Text-wise there is Blue Oyster Cult with their Veteran Of The Psychic Wars (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIE0wTFg364) (just check the lyrics) and maybe Broadsword (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wu-RFt-3zg8) by Jethro Tull.

Music wise I know only of Walther von (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_zjgZJOFl4&feature=related) der Vogelweide (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzXv7I-Zav8&feature=related).
