As you watch the horde of Skorupi continues to fall back, gathering around the Drapion. It just stands there, watching, as you roll into the distance. You continue to watch and see the other Skorupi beginning to pile up the corpses, gathering them from all around.

All around the carts people begin to nurse their wounds. Merchants try to wrap bleeding wounds, one shoots an Antidote into Willy. The one cart left behind slowly fades into the distance.

There is a collective air of relief as they fade into the distance. People begin patching up friends and allies, looking to the road ahead.

So, 16,000 Experience for this fight. Since this would be a lot for one Pokemon, here's how it will work. As a Trainer you may spend 10k of it to gain a Trainer Level. The remaining EXP would be distributed among any Pokemon that fought. So if Arte were to choose the level she'd subtract 10k from the total then apply the 1.2 to the EXP drop. Make sense?

Ethan sighs. Not from relief, but more from exhaustion. And some frustration. Now that the danger had passed (or at least it seemed), he could focus on the other issues that had come to his mind. Mainly, how these Skorupi came to be part machine. Had someone stolen his idea or just came up with it simultaneously. Someone had to have stolen his idea, there was no other way. Gather the Skorupi corpses on the cart. Let Sparky and Fairy zap them till their dead. I want to study them. He wanted to study the Drapion too, above any number of Skorupi. But it wasn't in the cards. It wasn't a smart move. Choke another thing to do in this Arceus Judged route later.

Ethan takes a thourough look at the Skorupi still on the lead cart, trying to find what he could without any tools on a fresh corpse.

Also, taking the Trainer Level option, so that gives Ollie and Mjolnir 3,000 and Ethan Dual Wield!

Meanwhile, Sparky has managed to make her way back onto Gerald's head, which she bound up and now gently pats his head and coos as the fresh water courses through him. He cracks open an eye, and wipes some blood from one of them before looking around. He pets Sparky with his non bloody hand, which causes more of the light cooing noise.
"You guys brought me with you again? Huh..."
He honestly seems astounded at the very concept of not leaving an unconscious person to die in a ditch.

Artemis scrambles onto the cart as it slowly rolls away, breathing heavily and looking about ready to faint. *gasp* "Anyone... got... water?" *gasp* "Wait..." She pulls out a Fresh Water and downs it in seconds and crinkles the container trying to get the last out of it, still gasping. "Heh, think Gerald will be mad about me making a mess of his armor?" She looks at the armor with several dents and holes punched in it by claws and the large needle protruding from it, probably just below something important. She then almost passes out. Body needed to repair; strengthen torn flesh and sore muscles, fix a cracked bone or two probably, and recharge energy. Not yet. Sleep soon.

Diluvium floats back to the carts, remaining as stoic as always. "Cast." A bit more sun peaks out from the clouds, and Diluvium transforms into a small sun and seems to almost smile for the sake of it, for once. Aquilla ruffles his feathers and flies back out to keep an eye out for any more danger, chirping happily at the sudden change in weather. Sun! Feels great! Amazing! Could just fly off into it! Have to keep up with the Castform. She likes him too much... Aquilla thinks other bird thoughts as he watches from the back cart. Diluvium just sits like a lamp, warming the cart. "Good, Diluvium... Keep doing that. Feels good." Hey... how's everyone holding up? Jess, how's Taylor?

Ethan places a gentle hand on Gerald's shoulder. I'm sorry Gerald. I... commanded Wagner while you were unconscious. I tried to keep him out of danger. I'm sorry. I didn't want us to lose two Growlithe on this trip. I hope you can forgive me. He walks away before Gerald can respond. It was his fault Audwulf was gone and he risked Wagner. And for what? A few mangled corpses to study? Was it worth it? The risk? For once, Ethan didn't know.

"Didn't want to...Wagner? Wagner?!"
Gerald looks around in a panic for his growlithe. Please, not another one! The gentlemanly growlithe bounds forward, licking his owner's face. The cut from the rupi before crossing his face, the eye obviously having trouble, but otherwise doing well. Gerald hugs Wagner in relief, running his hand through the fur. Wagner definitely is a survivor, then...
"Good Wagner. Good boy."
After a short while, he notices the injuries on Sparky. Small scratches, but still, THAT WOULD NOT STAND. And he is shown the still living steelupi that hurt her.
"...You don't get to die yet."
He separates it from the others, and Sparky electrocutes the rest of the rupi until they burn out.

Mark stops halfway through tossing a Skorupi overboard, tossing the others on the front cart towards you.

Sparky's webbing didn't do much to make these things very usable and despite being unconscious, most of your advances are stopped by shifting plates. After way to many residual shocks from the webbing, you manage to find some strange device under some plates (barely held apart with part of a broken Pokeball) although you have no guesses as to its function.

A few people curse at the harsh sunlight, shouting to make it go away. It only lasts for about thirty seconds, but the brief respite is all you needed.

"She doesn't seem too bad," Jessica says, cradling her head in her lap. "She took a nasty whack on the head when she got shot. If I'd been faster I could've made the shot miss. Or I could have healed her. I was too busy with the stuff in front. Taylor got hurt because I wasn't good enough," Jessica says downtroddenly.

Artemis tries to steady herself as she moves from one cart to the other. Still a bit woozy. She climbs unsteadily up onto Jessica's cart and sits next to the Psychic. Don't Muk it up this time, don't Muk it up this time... "It happens. She's okay is what's important. You did fine. You still kept her safe, even when the Skorupi attacked you guys and she went down. That's good enough in my opinion." Would a hug be proper now? She goes to give Jess a reassuring hug, but winces at the needle that was still imbedded in her armor. "Ack..." She grunts and pulls the pin out. I swear, when I find the person that made those things... She tears off a bit of her pant leg (jeans for Irn over there :P) under the armor and covers the wound to stop the bleeding. "Things looked like they were going well on your cart, circumstances accounted for. Don't beat yourself up over it. Learn from the mistakes, see where you could do better in a similar situation in the future."

Aquilla gives a disheartened chirp as the sun quickly fades, and Diluvium scowls at the reforming clouds. One of these days the weather will go on as long as I say so!

You manage to agilely get a hold of the object and pull it out slightly, stopping as some cords pull tight. Looking in, you see both wires and quite possibly veins and arteries feeding into the orb. It pulsates in your hand, glowing a sickly green. One wire sparks, almost making you pull back but you manage to keep yourself from pulling too hard. The Skorupi's eyes turn on at that moment and a claw shoots towards your arm, only to stop as the wire sparks again.

Since Romeo wasn't in a fit state to hop about carts while they were moving, he heals up anyone in his cart who needed it. Then he pulls out his Pokegear and phones his sister. 'Hey, how's things? We should be in Lavanderin a few days tops. The trip? Nah, nothing exciting. Seen a rare pokemon you may want to take a look at, but that's about it. Listen, can you do something for me? Can you find out anything you can about type-shifted breeding? If you created enough type shifted pokemon for a viable gene pool, could you create a sub-species? Why? Let's just say a passing interest.' He scratches Konoha behind the ear while he waits. She was proving a powerful new member to the team, already close in level to Elly.

Ah judge it, can't ever be simple like that... Gerald gets up, still a bit shaky from the blood loss for a couple steps, and heads back towards their cart. They're the main line of defense, after all. Sparky has curled up on his shoulder by now, having not had a chance to sleep yet today, and Wagner follows. He has his dex in hand, just in case another attack follows.

Just checking, you never know.

'Hehe, sorry. We encountered a horde of Steel-shifted Skorupi, easily over 100 so they must have bred. Caught some, so if we can get them under control we could think about breeding them. Look, to make up for my rudeness, I'll buy you dinner so we can catch up, and I'll get you a super rare egg. I promise.' Romeo would need to ask Ethan to breed Mjolnir again. While they needed the money from selling the egg they had, another Beldum egg could help Alana and her breeding business.

"Steel-Skorupi isn't on the list," Alana mutters. "We'll see how it goes for breeding, but I'm not sure if it is. Now if you had an Ice-Type Houndour or something, then we'd be talking. You feel the pulsating and eventually get a rhythmic function of it. Thumpthump. Thumpthump. Thumpthump. Almost like a.. heartbeat? But why would it have the steel if it was a heart? Unless they made a machine capable of functioning as one, there is obviously more to it than that.

The carts continue to roll for a bit, gaining ground. Some of you converse, some of you do other things. There are no traces of the Drapion left. Occasional shapes cross the radar, some small, some larger, but none the size of the Skorupi.

3 hours of stuff.

With some help Romeo is able to go among the carts and heal some people at an earlier break, getting everyone and their Pokemon healed up.

As it begins to get dark Mark orders some lights to be lit. A few torches continue to light the way. So far nothing has been a useful camp site. All were too open, too covered, or any variation thereof.

Through much wagon jumping you manage to get Romeo's gear and are able to remove the orb from the Skorupi with minimal blood spatter, meaning you only get a thin coat over you. As you remove it the corpse goes completely limp, slumping in your hand.

As you look for a campsite, you see a few dark shapes in the shadows, blending in almost perfectly with the shadow and stone. They seem to be armed. The groups move with what can only be classified as military precision.

The carts suddenly stop. You can hear Mark up ahead on the front cart yelling at somebody.

Ethan
The dark shape lands in front of the cart causing Mark to pull back. A man hops off the back of it. You are just able to make out the shape as a Honchkrow in the darkness.

"HEY! What the muk are you trying to do? Get yourself hurt?" Mark shouts, hefting up his crossbow.

"No, never that!" the man gasps out. His left arm is hanging by his side uselessly. "Do you guys have a healer? Bug things back that way attacked me," he says, gesturing towards the direction you came from. "Charon managed to fly me out, but I need some help," the man says, gasping for breath and clutching his arm. He steps forward into the light.

You can see dried blood coated over his side and he does seem to be in quite a bit of pain. But that isn't what gets your attention. His face.... He's the man from Saffron. The one you're after. He looks at you but doesn't seem to recognize who you are.

"Yeah, we have a medic," Mark says, hesitantly, although he did seem to relax slightly when the man said the bugs attacked him too. "Bug things hit us pretty good too. Barely got out of there. We'd be happy to help. Ethan, can you call Romeo? Tell him we have somebody for him to fix up?"

Well, since Romeo doesn't know what is going on up front yet.

'Oh Mew, those are people' Romeo quietly informs the others in his cart. He makes sure Elly is out of her ball, and hiding under his chair, and he slips the gun Arte gave him behind his back. Artemis was taking a break from reading the minds of everyone for once, and so doesn't catch what Ethan was thinking. She does catch Ethan yelling for medical help, and looks out to take a look at what's going on. "What on earth is going on up there?" She looks to Romeo as he mentions the armed people. Armed people? Judge it! We are not prepared for this kind of thing after the ordeal we went through! She starts breathing somewhat heavily and fidgeting. Occupy your hands. She goes for her armor and puts on the upper half again. Already the memory of the fight didn't quite seem real, even with the wounds and the damage armor in her hands. She tries to scan some of the surface thoughts of the people if they are in range. Before doing so, however, she also directs a thought quickly to Ethan. What are you yelling about when there are people out there!?

They don't know we know about them. Bring the guy in to us. We can deal with the possible hostiles after we have the target.

Taylor, Jess, Getald, we found our target early, it seems. Ethan or Romeo should be bringing him in. Taylor, bind the guy's feet and hands with some rock. I'll knock him out if he's crazy enough to fight or yell.

And now she scans the minds of any of the armed people she can reach.

As you try to read the minds of the approaching groups you pick up a few things:

Why is it always cold?
The dark sucks.
Hate that Honchkrow bastard. Annoying as muk.
Hope my gun actually works this time...
And the last is thinking about the reward after the job.

Other than that, there is one common thought, as if they all heard it at the same time.
Execute Order 7-12. Fire when in position.

After that, anticipation and a lot less thinking.

Ethan:
As you communicate with Artemis Akinektos looks at you with a grin.

Secrets are no fun my friend. And a military, he thinks, looking around. That is unfortunate. Now tell me, who is this "target?" he says with a knowing grin.

"Sir, if you'll get that Medic up here or just toss me some supplies, I'll be on my way. I'm happy to pay," he says, limping forward to hand Mark a wad of cash. Mark reaches under the seat to hand him a Fresh Water.

They have us outnumbered 12 to 7. We might win, they might win. So we broker a deal: we all take him down, but they get the majority of the spoils, and easy access to cheaper custom gear in the future. All we want is to be recruited, so if we bring him in, they can take monetary reward, we get in, and mon can be bred and distributed depending on who wants what. Ask others if that seems fair.

Before your attack you once again barely notice anything about Akinektos.

Akinektos flinches as Thor strikes him with the Thundershock, staggering forward, the limp gone. The party getting the drop on him they are able to act first.

Arte’s flurry of wind gets a large number of expletive thoughts from the soldiers, likely due to popping smoke being invalid. Unfortunately the strong winds also put out the torches, plunging the wagons into darkness.

Mind Reading:
Lights are out! Signal! Scrap smoke. Infrared on and open fire. Acquire targets, kill the rest!

Gerald’s shot misses, Akinektos having enough warning to duck down, the shots hitting the cart instead of him.

The twins fire at Akinektos. One misses, his shot flying over the man’s head. The other connects with his chest, lights blasting as the incendiaries connect. Mark fires a crossbow bolt at the Honchkrow only to have it deflect the bolt with a quick wing.

The attack squad closes, opening fire on the team. You can’t see their targets, just bursts of sound and light, although Wagner, Konoha, Fairy, and Acquilla all cry out in pain.

Finally Akinektos acts. Ethan can see a glob of softly glowing purple energy coalesce around his fist, only to be shot like a rocket at Thor. It connects with the young Elekid, launching him back. It falls unconscious almost immediately.

You're out of your league nerd. Thank your Air Adept; made my job that much easier.

Gerald manages to plonk the Stunky right in the head, causing it to yelp in pain.

The squad immediately in the area turns to focus on Gerald. One had been about to swap to Rhyhorn rounds but the Capture Specialist manages to divert their attention. The one that Wagner had struck curses, back peddling while trying to shoot at the dog, likely somewhat blind from the assault. His blind fire manages to connect, causing the dog to fall unconscious with a loud yelp. The other fires at Gerald but in his rage-induced frenzy he manages to agilely dodge the bullets.

The far rear squad falls back, focusing fire on Elly. One seems to miss, mostly due to the shots colliding with the wagon, but from the growl of pain you’d assume the others hit.

On the left one man falls back but the other steps forward, unlesashing a flurry of bullets at Calva that connect, warranting a shriek.

The front squad doesn’t fire as much as you’d think; only the middle two open fire at the Zebstrika. One burst connects, causing the Zebstrika, (already weakened by Screech) to cry out in pain.

The burst of flames hit the Stunky hard, wrapping around it and trapping it.

All around the Stunky are ordered forward, slashing with claws at their foes. Kubota takes two hits, still hurting despite her large bulk. Two close on Elly, another on Dilumvium, and a final on Calva. The blows aren’t particularly powerful but they slowly wear down on their targets.

The last by the rear carts makes a mad dash towards the wagon, hopping on board, a trail of toxic gasses trailing it. A mighty blast of gas escapes its rear, coating the nearby area in smog, causing the entire back wagon and many surrounding Pokemon and people to begin to gag. Another, this in the front near Willy, does the same, releasing a blast. The remaining front ones close in on the front wagon, spending all their time dashing forward.

Don't lecture, just do your job and I'll keep as many off you as I can. Complete the mission, and kill everyone who poses a threat.
This...isn't the Gerald you're used to. He wants to hurt them. Wants to feel the impact of the knife in flesh, the bone shuddering thud of a wrench caving a skull in. Wants him to be the last thing they see, as they drown on their own blood through useless windpipes. And behind it all is a burning thought. They shot his dog.
He'll just have to make sure they can't ever do it again.
"Sparky...make them regret it."

At Dilumvium’s call a shower of rain begins, covering the field.

As Mjolnir and Sim fly at Akinektos a purple barrier appears from thin air, absorbing the entire blast.

”Idiots…”

Sparky leaps to bite the soldier, fangs aimed right at his crotch only to have the man swing with his gun, knocking Sparky out of the air before taking aim at her.

Willy slams into Stunky, almost dropping it. The beast hangs on by a thread, almost collapsing.

Taylor’s Sandshrew pops up, hitting one of the rear gunmen. The Litwick launches a burst of flames but misses. The Rhyhorn charge their targets; one tries to squash a Stunky and misses, the other closes on one of the gunmen.

In Gerald’s rage the blow strikes true, slamming the man in the head and cracking his helmet. With a shout he and his friend drop back, guns blaring at Gerald. Both hit, although in Gerald’s rage-state he dodges, causing the bullets to do less than normal. The rear crew focuses fire on the Sandshrew, dropping it easily. The rain was calming, falling on the leaves. It reminded Artemis of the few good times on her own, sitting with Aquilla when the weather was too bad to travel, listening to the dull roar of the water, the smell of the water soaked land... Of course the gunfire really ruined some of that serenity. She disconnects from Gerald, him doing well enough on his own it seemed, and chuckles in the man who was hit's head. Anyways- And then Calva cried out. Muk, why did they even see her as a threat? *sigh* Artemis recalls Calva and makes another sharp gesture at McMurder, another blade of air flying at him.

Here comes the BOOM! (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Akuo1v6xJCoXdG9tUWxuWEZPdlRac0dKcjV3Ymx4d 1E&pli=1#gid=0)

Jessica is forced to drink a Lemonade, too heavily damaged to help. Taylor closes towards Akinektos but he manages to agilely dodge the attack.

Elly sighs in relief at the Super Potion and makes it back on the cart.

Akinektos ignores the bullets, his armor absorbing the blasts. He sees Arte’s blade of air coming and disappears in a puff of smoke only to appear a few feet back and to the left, a grin on his face as he drops another Pokeball on the ground, this one having a Scyther appear, an easily recognizable Pokemon for the group of you.

The Duskull flies across the field, landing right in the middle of the attackers. A cloud of dark energy forms around him, unleashing in a powerful burst much like before. It rolls forward, once again colliding with merchants but also with Sim, Mjolnir, and Artemis. It barely hurts Artemis, the armor taking the brunt of the burst, but Sim and Mjolnir are hit far harder.

Mark’s Zebstrika dashes forward, electricity coursing around it. It collides with the Honchkrow hard, sparks jolting into it. The bird barely stays standing but the attack draws an angry growl from Akinektos.

The Stunky once again move, heading in for a quick take down. Three dive at the Zebstrika, two connecting. The Zebstrika looks like it is about to go down; the Poison should finish it off. Another wraps around and strikes Buck, claws raking his side, cutting through his hide.

The two near Aquilla continue to strike, aiming for the quick drop. One hits Sparky, the other moving away and unleashing a powerful burst of noxious fumes that hit Kubota, Sparky, Gerald, and even leak over to Wagner. Buck goes for the kick on Akinektos only to have him disappear again, popping up away from the party.

Sparky’s web hits the two men, tangling them in the net. They curse but somehow remain standing.

Ollie’s attack drops the Stunky (fortunately). One explodes though, the blast catching most nearby allies.

Why are we attacking? Oh, you should know why. I know you’re after me. I know who you’re trying to join. We’re going to”

As he thinks this into your mind, Willy flies through the Honchkorw, gaining enough momentum to literally fly through the air, crushing the Honchkrow’s chest and launching out the other side, chunks of gore coating her shell.

The Rhyorn close with their targets, horns goring the enemies. Taylor’s Litwick fires a spinning vortex of flames at the Duskull but once again the ghost proves to be a very able dodger. Taylor returns her Sandshrew, not wanting to risk further injury.

Gerald’s attack easily drops the Stunky, splattering its brains over the ground.

The enemy squad begins opening fire again, aiming for a quick take down. Two fire at Sparky, not quite dropping the spider. The gunmen look worried as the psycho Gerald grows ever nearer.

The other side focuses fire on the Rhyhorn near them, dropping it with Explosive Rounds.

The rear group splits up, two firing at Ollie and the other two opening fire at Jessica. Ollie shrugs off one shot but the other hits him hard. Jessica takes both shots, starting to bleed profusely, obviously injured badly.

The front squad is falling apart. Two fire at Willy, only one connecting. The other two, Explosive Rounds loaded, open fire at the Lairon, dropping it, causing Mark to curse loudly and take aim with his crossbow.

Jessica sighs in relief at the Fresh Water and heals Elly of her Poison with her powers, muttering a thank you.

Once again Ethan’s studies fail him, being unable to identify anything about the Duskull. Up front Mark opens fire with his crossbow. A mighty burst of flames resounds, knocking one of the mercs back.

Waves of pure fury roll into your minds as Artemis cuts down his Scyther (not killing it). He’s mad; extremely so. With a shout he getsures at his Duskull, causing it to float over and unleash a column of flames at Taylor, Artemis, and Ethan. The rain douses the flames slightly, stopping them from being quite as hot, but they inflict heavy damage. Taylor almost goes down from the burst as well.

Little bitch ass Psychic can’t take a hit! he shouts as Artemis falls unconscious, her armor heating to unbearable levels.

The troops continue to command their teams, Stunky swarming the party. With Konoha down both of the rear ones are free to move. One loops right attacking Ollie with sharp claws. The other loops near Elly, attacking it with its partner. The previously Confused ones snaps out of it, clawing at Elly. Its blow seems amplified and the two beasts hit the Umbreon hard.

The two poor souls near Gerald call out to the Stunky, having it rush at the spider before it can hit them with another web. It connects, dropping the Joltik into unconsciousness.

All three Stunky close on Willy, desperately trying to take the Sandshrew down. They just barely succeed; Willy barely falling unconscious. The last Stunky up front claws at Buck once again.

Ah, the rain. Far superior to the sun, in the opinion of the Castform. The weather caused far more havoc in general, he thinks as Artemis's bolt of air cuts the Scyther down. An excellent shot, Madame. And then the flames burst from the Duskull, knocking his trainer out. Oh Kyogre! Even his rain wasn't enough to soften the attack! Very well, he was trained well by his trainer still. What has she taught you... Always keep range in your favor. That's why he had been prefered over Aquilla as of recent. Time to have some fun... The Castform flies forward in a swirl, ending 10m above 30S. Cast! (Drown!) He fires a torrent of water at the Pokémon that downed his trainer with flames.

As the group of you continue to fight, you all fall one by one. The men attacking Gerald strike him down with a rifle butt as he recalls Sparky. Ethan puts up a valiant fight but eventually goes down to Akinektos and his men. Paul is shot as he attempts to fight off the troops, his considerable bulk causing the wagon to creak. Dilumvium is returned, albeit reluctantly, by a soldier who grabs his Pokemon from Artemis's belt. Romeo, seeing his friends and allies go down, is surrender. When the soldier start gunning down the civilians though, they hit him across the back of the head, causing him to slump in his chair. When he screams to not hurt the kids, they actually listen, taking them hostage as well. You can't tell what happened to Mark and the twins but Jessica and Taylor weren't killed either. As you all pass into the avoid you awake many hours later.

Artemis:
You awake from your sleep, not plagued by the nightmares for the first time in a few nights.

You find yourself in a small room. While it doesn't scream "PRISON," quite the opposite in fact, that is obviously what it is, although it is far too nice to be a real one. It is quite well lit with a cot, toilet, and even a small desk with some paper and pencils as well as a pen. A steel door marks the entrance. A small plate of food, apparently Pidgey Roast, sits on the table as well as a glass of water.

As you regain consciousness you notice the familiar weight of your Pokemon belt gone. You reach out instinctively with Telepathy but find your senses blurred, disoriented. An attempt to control the air gets you little more than a little breeze. Your armor is gone as well.

You step forward, noticing for the first time the weight of a heavy chain on your ankle. You also notice your burns feel far better than before; you feel almost fine in fact.

Paul:

As you reach for Willy's Pokeball to break free you find your belt is gone. Gun, supplies, all of it. Your bullet wounds are magically healed, bandaged, and otherwise fixed.

As you walk forward you notice a heavy chain around your ankle, restricting your movements slightly.

You can't tell if it is a halucination from blood loss or what, but you could swear you hear the familiar squeak of a Rattata.

Gerald:

As you growl in rage, reaching for Sparky's Pokeball, you find it gone. Sparky, Wagner, Kubota, all of them. Your gun; gone. Your mech arm has some strange restraint of the shouler and at an attempt to move it you find the movements severely restricted; your arms moves as if it was going through corn syrup.

As you get up to rush to the door and yell in rage you fall hard on your face, tripping over the heavy chain around your ankle. As you brace for the scabs from the shots and cuts opening you are surprised to find them all expertly bandaged and healed. You'd been captured a few times before, but good medical care? That was a first.

Romeo:

A small plate of food, apparently Pidgey Roast, sits on the table as well as a glass of water.

It all comes back to you. The attack, the merchants being shot, all of it. You have a throbbing headache as well.

As you reach for the reassurance of Elly's Pokeball you find it gone as well as the rest of your team. You still have your wheelchair though, albeit slightly more beat up than it was before. All you medic supplies are gone as well as that good old cane.

Ethan:

You notice your right arm feels much lighter; your mech arm appears to be gone. As you reach for the Pokeball containing Mjolnir you find it, as well as the rest of your team, gone.

There is a small laptop lying on your bed. As you step to investigate you notice the clanking of the iron chain around your ankle.

All:
Teams, items, and anything else I mentioned are gone. I suggest you find out what the muk is happening.

You manage to pop the arm off, a burst of steam following it. A quick lookover shows it isn't the most professional job to clog it up; it seems to mostly just have been jammed full of some kind of spray foam that appears to be inhibiting the electrical currents. It feels spongy to the touch but when you attempt to apply pressure it seems to be quite tear resistant.

Try as you might it seems something is blocking that connection to your psychic powers. An attempt to cut it with a blast of air fails as well.

As you look over the room you see a miniscule camera in the top corner that appears to be tracking your movements. There is also are poorly disguised parts of the wall that seem to have been patched.

As you crawl out of the wheelchair to throw it you tip it over. The chair, seemingly not heavy, falls hard on your legs, causing you to fall unconscious in pain. As you fall into darkness you see the door open and a pair of boots.

You find yourself drifting away from your body, looking down. You see Akinektos looking down on your body, a frown on his face as he points to two nearby goons to carry you away. Before you see more though you are pulled up, a sharp tug around your navel. You fly up at an incredible rate, becoming noxious but without anything to puke out. You find yourself far above the world, looking down. It is truly a wondrous sight; the globe glittering up at you. Then you hear the music; a light, airy tune. As you turn towards the source you see a pink light apparently coming down from the moon.

Mostly what I expected. Though your obviously not Rocket. Question is who are you? No doubt your other planted info will reveal that. Ethan tabs out of his file. He knew its interworkings already, but he'd look over what they knew later. He opens the other file.

This one is far more interesting. On the very front is a picture that is painfully familiar; the Skorupi mechs. Hundreds of pages go through their inner workings, how they were made, where they were made. What makes them work. How there are different tiers in their society; apparently the Drapion you had fought likely belonged to the Warrior Caste, a higher group of the hive. They can communicate telepathically. Engineered as killing machines they still had some flaws. Interestingly, they were made by Team Rocket, obviously not who these people are. Just as you're getting into how they work you hear a knock at the door.

'Go on Cressila. Tell me how I can save them. I can't promise I can forgive Mew, but I'll place my faith in you. Me and Mew will sort it out later. Tell me your rules. Please.'

"You will become my champion, my tool. You will go forth as an instrument of light. War is coming; I have forseen it. The other gods ignore the signs, ignore the war. You will join Team Rocket; only there will you have a chance to stop the inevitable conflict. You must escape this prison. You will be my knight in shining armor among the mortals. From now to the day you die you will be my servant, my tool."

Seeing your likely surprise at the mention of Team Rocket, she explains.

"While their methods are rarely savory, they will not force you to do unnecessary evil. I can not tell you more than that; you must simply trust me when I say whatever evil you do will be repaid four times over in good."

"Setting fire to people in metal is rude too, but you have no qualms about that." She sits on the desk. Not grabbing the chair. Shows weakness, regretting actions. She just glares at him. "What do you want?"

A sharp tongue to match those air blades, he says with a poor attempt at levity. We have a business proposition for you. We know of your involvement with Team Rocket. Now tell us, why are you joining? Money? Some personal vendetta? Or is it something else?

"Judge Void it, grimermukers are annoying. Can't hit worth a damn, either."
And with that, he begins taking stock of what's left, and tries to pick the lock on his leg manacle with the butter knife and pen because what're they going to do, kill him and his team? Probably going to do that in the end anyway.

Artemis sighs and spins a pencil in her fingers. Had to at least move or she'd probably go insane. "I honestly don't see why I should even say. They found me, invited me to speak to them about a job offer. It fits what I'm good at." She looks around the room absentmindedly before returning to glaring at Ani. "Now if you wanted business, there are numerous better ways to go about it than assaulting us in the wilds and abducting us. Have you ever tried notes? Or phone calls. Much less of a mess to go about things that way." She leans back a bit. Hm, that Pidgey does look good- no, focus. "In all, what little I've seen of you doesn't impress me. You're a more adept fighter, sure, but that was in conditions that HEAVILY favored you and your allies. And you had to severely outnumber us. Far too many resources. He spends a few moments slamming his mixture of brawn and flab into the door, then settles back into the chair and absentmindedly chews on the Pidgey.

Sorry Hank, but it's been, what, three days? Guy's gotta eat. The real tragedy is that they roasted one of your brethren. Everyone knows Pidgey is best when deep-fried.

Romeo still looks miserable. But a bit of hope was shining through. 'I'm not a soldier, but I'll try. And I assume when you talk of necessary evil, you mean things like killing guys like Anni? I've never been one to fight, but people like him need to be stopped. I'll try. Even if I die, at least I can say I tried my hardest. I'll fight for my happy ending.'

With a clink you just manage to pop the lock open, relying more on skills and instinct than any form of studying it. There is no immediate response; nobody rushes into your room to beat you down or anything. You can barely contain a sigh of relief as the blood rushes into your foot; did it really have to be so tight?

Ethan just grins. They at least knew how to properly bribe him. Without looking away from the screen as he studies the files, searching for information on the strange heart-like orb he collected. A prisoner with privacy? This is a first. I'm sure you will enter with or without my consent, but you may enter if you wish. I won't put up resistance, I know when I've been bested.

Akinektos strides into the room, still wearing his armor, albeit without clothes over it. On the chest you see a small insignia blazed one it; a golden "G" right above his heart.

That's good; we'd hate to have to hurt you again, he says, taking a seat at your desk.

So tell me; why are you joining Team Rocket? Is it the money? Some personal vendetta? A chance to let those experiments thrive? he says with a gesture towards the laptop.

Give you? Why nothing of course, Akinektos says, grinning widely. Even without your psychic powers you can tell he is lying.

So you take us having greater resources and better supplies as weakness? That's interesting... he says, playing with the shirt he has on. You can tell he has something bulky underneath; presumably the armor from earlier. That may mean you are cut out for working with us; winning against the odds is not something we are fond of.

I understand how you feel. You likely think I'm a sociopath out to simply kill and murder. I'd be lying if I said I didn't take pleasure in the battles but I don't do this for the fights. No, I do it for so much more. Now, I'll ask once again. Why are you trying to join Team Rocket?

Paul staggers to his feet, holding his head.

Sorry, 1.2 does in fact apply. Forgot to do that for you guys.
As you look for the source your keen hearing leads you to a small hole in the wall by your toilet. I can't be more than an inch or two across; its small. Two beady red eyes glare out of it at you.

"That is good. The world has more than its fair share of soldiers; those who are willing to fight and have honor, virtues, honesty? And those that held onto a faith through it? Far more rare and far more valuable." Cressalia says, obviously well pleased with your choice.

"The time has come for you to return," Cressalia says, looking at you. Your Mewish Necklace appears in the air. Cressalia reaches out her hand and grabs it. Her hand glows bright for a second before she hands the charm back to you. As you take it you see a half crescent of a moon; the token is warm to the touch.

"Whenever you have need to speak to me simply clutch this and speak my name; I will hear you. I have one last parting gift," she says, cutting of a lock of her hair. As it separates from her body it becomes a softly glowing feather, pink in hue.

"When your need is most desperate use this gift. Be wary; only once may it be used, and I am only permitted to give this to a mortal once in a very long time. Beware as you return; just as I have chosen you as my champion, my brother has his own throughout the world; among them the one that captured you and your friends."

Cressalia gestures as if to send you back but then stops as if remembering one last detail.

"Before you leave, take this," she says, handing you a chain that would seem to fit right around Elly's throat.

"Even as you chose the Form of Light for your companion, this will allow her to return to the Light whenever she dons it. Now return my Romeo. You have sworn yourself to me; exactly what that entails is a conversation for when we have more time; My first command is to break free. Beware Akinektos; he will be able to recognize you as one of mine."

With another lurch you find yourself launched back down to the ground below.

You awake, gasping for breath on a hospital bed. Your wrist is chained to it.

"He's concious. Somebody get Anni. He wants to talk to all of them in private."

In your pocket you can feel the chain and feather from Cressalia, her necklace now lies around your neck. Even more curiously, your legs feel fine. You can tell from your medical experience that the drugs they have hooked up to you wouldn't have that profound of an effect; could she have healed you as well?

Break free.

Galactic; a place where people like us can work for things larger than you or I can even imagine. But anyways, our proposition, Anni says, a grin on his face. You are a prospect for Team Rocket. Due to your background with technologically and those experiments there is a good chance you'll be thrown into that group. Now, the man that leaked us the Skorupi tech has gone missing and we could use a new friend in the system. You'll be well compensated as befits the inherent dangers of the work.

Sociopath? SOCIOPATH!?! Do you know how much planning, how much prep went into this plan? Three. Years. THREE! I've wasted a tenth of my life on this plan. The Skorupi, this fortress; does a sociopath do that? And the murders! THE MURDERS! Seven groups of Rocket grunts, including you, have come chasing me to Lavender since then. Only two made it past the muking Skorupi. The fact is you. Lost. Admit it!he says, obviously angry. Apparently being called a sociopath didn't sit well with him.

When Saffron is burning to the ground, your little Rocket friends screaming in pain as the storm falls on them, then we'll see who's laughing. Perhaps, but I couldn't care less about how factual my point was. Except the sociopathy. Or is it psychopathy? I always mixed those two up. Regardless, you were lying through your teeth about the battle. Not the point. I don't really care. We failed, which annoys me, but so be it. That's the card we're delt. Still, until I figure out a way out of here, I want nothing to do with them. Artemis begins screaming obscenities in Unovan again, hitting just about anything she can reach. If she bruised a hand, all the better. She remembered how good it felt to just black out the room she stayed in before, and wished she could do the same now. She gives it a shot, even though it would likely fail.

Assuming she is uninterrupted during this, she tires after 20-30 minutes, and falls onto the bed, sweating, shaking, crying, and not feeling an ounce better. She falls asleep. Maybe whatever was blocking her powers would work its way through her system.

When you awake the daze is gone slightly; you can feel him reading your mind but your powers are still unresponsive. You are hungry as well; hungrier than you should be after so short of a rest. You can't tell how long you were out.

There is a new plate of food on the table; a roast Pidgey again, but this time with mashed potatoes to make it look like it has a Rufflet's mane.

The lone guard in the room shrugs at your plea, walking over and undoing the handcuffs, the thing falling away.

He gives a small chuckle at your story but continues to stare at you. You can see a very large gun on his hip.

As you look for a weapon you see something; a small syringe on a roller table by your feet. If you're right it's the medicine they give people who become violent when they begin thrashing about; the stuff that knocks them out. If you could somehow get a hold of it you might be able to inject him; with that large of a dose he'd be unconscious before he hit the floor.

You can't help but chuckle at the incompetent doctors. Leaving meds out in the open? Even you're not quite that stupid.

Paul, unsure of whether the minds had linked, both speaks and thinks toward the Rattata.

Come on, you wee bugger. You look like you were on the losing end of a beating from a wood chipper, but I can tell you're a tough Seedot to crack. Maybe we can help each other. You see what you can do to help me get out, and I take you to places where you don't have to scrounge and scrap for every lousy crumb.

At the last thought/word he rips off a meatier hunk of the bird and places it about six inches form his feet.

Ethan continues to stare at the screen for a moment, but his thoughts are clearly on McMurder's words. Ethan turns around, steepling his fingers contemplating. He stares at the ground, then at McMurder's shoes then his own fingers before finally resing on McMurder's eyes. He inahles slowly, and grins. I'll do it. On a few conditions.

Ethan becomes lively, making many gestures with his hands. His mind races as it thinks of all possibilities. What could go wrong, what happens if Rocket found out, the others found out. And what he'd need to keep himself in one piece. First and foremost, you and Galactic must trust me. I know my companions better than you, you can't argue that. You're a logical man.... you know I never got your name. Not important. He makes a dismissing gesture and continues. Next, I need to know who you are. What your all about, whats your mission, your ideal. I don't work for a mysterious higher purpose. I need facts. I doubt this will change my answer, if it did you wouldn't have asked me to join in the first place.

Ethan snatches the pencil and paper and begins writing this stuff down. I always forget not everyone can process info as fast as I can. Anyways, next I need something to get me in good with Rocket. They sent me after you, but I assume thats off the table. Unless you can create a daring escape on your own, but I think even you can't break out of a Rocket captivity without assitance and me risking blowing cover that early would be stupid. So need something else, something useful to them. He waves towards the screen. That data, bringing it back would be useful, but limited. No doubt you have more copies and I doubt they'd believe I was able to find all copies of it from this one location. Speaking of which where are we? We can get to that later. That might be an issue, if they ask where we escaped from. Anyways, the point is I need something to garner their trust so they don't suspect me.

Ethan continues to furiously scribble, his mind reciting his own words so as to not forget them himself. I also need a quick escape. Something that can get me out of a sticky situation, say, my cover being blown. Something quick, and easily portable. Thats a lower priority but needs to be mentioned now.

Finally, my allies. Believe it or not, I'd like to keep them my allies. How is convincing them going? I suspect fairly poorly. If I know them well as I think I do, I could convince them to play along and pretend to join and then 'escape.' No offense but I highly doubt you or anyone else on your pay roll can convince them, and if you do it would be tenuous. You'd never have their loyalty. I think at this juncture, it is better to cut your losses and run with me.

Ethan puts the pen and paper down in his lap and breathes. He was talking a bit faster than normal and was winding himself. One last thing. How are you planning on rewarding me? Has to be covert enough that it doesn't attract attention, but then the reward has to be small enough in scope that it isn't obvious. More curious than anything. There is a fair amount of your tech I've seen thus far I'd love to analyze, even utilize if I could.

"I'm straight bro," he says, giving you a weird look.

Aw dammit.
"Bidoofmuker, that you? Look, give me ten minutes, I haven't even folded the origami statue of you and your victim with a small poem, just for you!"

Damn it to Arceus, the man at the door mutters, shoving his way in. It's Anni and he doesn't seem too happy.

Anni grins widely at your agreement.

Whoa, whoa, not so fast, he says, hands up at your wave of speech.

We'll trust you; no worries about that. If we find you're feeding us bad intel or things along those lines we won't be happy, but you'll basically have free reign to do as you see fit.

As for who we are, he says, pausing to think. We work to create a new world; a better one. We work for advances in medicine, technology, Pokemon. Where Team Rocket hogs their discoveries we reveal them to the world. Teleporters? That was us. These Skorupi, if programmed correctly, could be beyond beneficial. What does Team Rocket do? They hog them for themselves. Why do you think Sinnoh's technology is so far ahead? he says, gesturing at himself.

Us. That's why. Team Rocket tries to stop us, keep our discoveries hidden. That's why we fight. When they are gone we can take what they know and reveal it to the world. Wouldn't that be better? he says, a frantic look in his eyes.

As for getting you in good, we have a plan. We will help you stage the escape of you and your allies. We will allow you to contact Team Rocket and warn them of our presence moments before we make our move. You'll have warned them enough for it to not be a massacre but our goals will still be accomplished. They will appreciate your help; we may even give you some files, make it look like you got something when you escaped. We can spin it as you breaking free. We have a few plans in place to try; if you want to try that route I'll give them to you. If you want we can try to find another way to get you in quick but our prior experiences with Rocket point towards this being the best way in.

As for rewards, we'll see what you can get us. Let's just say these Skorupi are just the tip of the iceberg of what we have.

So are you in? he says excitedly.

The guard leaves at your request. You catch him grin as you take a bit of the sandwich.

Your lockpick attempt isn't even close to successful; you actually end up bending the fork to the point where it may not even be usable for eating.

As you bash the chair into the link you eventually end up warping the chair before you manage to smash the link. The metal is dented and smashed although there are scratches and dings in the link.

You manage to slink out of the bed without him seeing you. You creep closer and closer behind him. As you grab his mouth he turns to intercept your arm, but it is too late. The needle plunges into his neck. A press of thumb later and he slumps to the ground, very much unconscious. The dose may have been a little overkill, but he's still breathing. You know have a very large, very unconcious guard at your feet.

"Hurry!"

Far down the hall you get the feeling of an aura of wrongness, as if the very air is wrong around it.

Ethan smirks. Come back for a chat when that ultimatly fails. Ethan laughs to himself then remembered the weight on his ankle. Could you at least remove the chain? Its rather painful.

No problem, Anni says. A key floats out of his pocket, pops into the lock, and opens it.

If you need anything ask a guard. They'll bring you anything within reason.

Paul gingerly reaches out to stroke the small creature's stringy fur with two fingers while it eats.

Come to Joey, little guy. I think all you need is a little food and you could be a very top percentage Rattata.

He examines the chain which holds him, both where it is fastened to him and where it is fastened to the ground.

The Rattata shies away at first, obviously unused to human touch.

The chain is attacked to a thick cuff on your ankle. A panel on the wall is attached by a few thick screws with no obvious holds on them. If you could somehow fashion a wrench you might be able to break it free, although you have no idea how to go about doing that.

She grabs the knife. Hopefully it was better made than the chair. She wedges the blade behind the chain's connection to the wall and wobbles it back and forth until she can get the a little bit of the thicker part of the blade behind as wall (don't want it to snap like a twig, after all). With that, Artemis tries to lever the chain off of the wall, slowly to not snap the knife.

Potions/healing items in the open, a doctors coat, the gun, the guards goggles if he had any. He does this as fast as possible. Then he checks if there was another door out. If there was, he takes that. If not, he goes out the single door before Annie gets too close. If he finds a coat, he throws it on before leaving. Any little disguise would help right now. Your work with the wall does nothing besides start to bend the knife; when that happens you end the attempt for fear of breaking the knife.

As you shove your finger down your throat, it takes a few tries, but after a bit you manage to force yourself to vomit. In the toilet lies the remains of a sandwich as well as.. purple goo?

I work for a certain corporation that has interest in Team Rocket. Now, you're not new to this game. I could give you whatever "it's for the greater good" spheal I want and it wouldn't do muk. So, here's the offer. We need informants. You're in a place where you can join Team Rocket. You take our offer, you go free and you get paid for whatever intel you manage to bring us. Understand? he says.

'Not used to ladies complaining I'm going to slow' jokes Romeo. He takes a look around the room, grabbing what he can. He uses his knowledge of hospitals to grab the best stuff. 'Can you sense where Elly is?'

WIS check for finding stuff: [roll0]

only grabbing stuff in the open or obvious.

Your quick inspection doesn't get you much; a Mineral Water, another syringe of the drug, and the man's gun. As you shrug on the coat you feel the dark aura leave down another hallway; perhaps he didn't need you right now?

Take a right. Three doors down. Door on left. Two guards by door; find a way past them.

Paul eases back, merely holding the hand out for the rodent to examine, and sending soothing images to the beast of gentle petting and feeding. He also speaks out to the room at large.

I dunno who you are or where I am, but if you're listening, feel free to not barge in and spout off about whatever stupid scheme you have for a couple minutes. Speck here is a mite skittish.

As you say this, the door opens. The Rattata dashes under the bed, terrified, but stays in the room.

Paul Ticker! Anni says, striding into the room. Please, please, take a seat. I come bearing gifts! he says, laying out a roll of cloth on the counter. He rolls it out to reveal Qwilfish Spines; the good kind too, from Hoenn.

Please, take one. You and I have business to discuss.

Much obliged. Ethan picks up the pad, inspecting it to make sure its still in good condition, before booting it up. He hoped to science he'd find what he was looking for. He flips open the USB jack from the pad and inserts it gently in the laptop, and begins transfering files. In barely a whisper, whilst typing on the pad. Hello? Rotom? Are you there? I can take one, but not both. Let's see how good my acting is.

Romeo holds the gun by the barrel and puts on a voice. He shuffles his way to the guards, looking nervous. Still, it was good to be walking again. 'Eh, um, excuse me chaps. One of your lot lost this gun. You know how we brain boxes are, we're no good with this stuff. Could one of you take this to the armoury before I accidentally shoot myself?'

Artemis shivers. Never pleasant. She scrapes her tongue with her teeth and tries to spit out the last of the taste, but it still lingered as always. She looks at the purple goo with curiosity, but she wasn't a chemist and no way was she gonna scoop it out for Ethan to study. Nothing to store it in anyways. She flushes the toilet and lies on the bed. A few tears run down. What if she never got her powers back? What was she then? Just a sorta good trainer. Not even that great. Heck, Ethan was a better one than her now even! Hate to admit it, but so was Paul. He was prepared. She wasn't. Her team was unable to handle a threat that honestly should have been easy!

She looks at the lights. "Come on you stupid lights, turn off!" She focuses on the lights.

The two look at you in disgust.

"Take it yourself egg-head," one says, earning a chortle from the other. "Unless you're gonna do some tests of those pieces of [CENSOR!] they call Pokemon, just leave us alone. We don't have time for people like you."

With the purple goo gone, you feel much better.

As you look to the light, exerting all your force, the thing shatters, light going out and showering the floor with sparks. You can't help but smirk a little. It was payback time.

You hear a click at the door; likely a heavy bolt sliding into place or something along those lines. With your powers slowly, returning, you feel a presence in the back of your mind.

Well done....

The Word Pad closes and a game opens. One of those old school fighting games, to be exact. The main character, instead of stepping into the ring, looks at you.

Are you ready to ruuuuumble? it moans in the terrible monotone voice that had earned the game such bad reviews.

"Senseless slaughter...well, I've had enough of that. I'm trying to at least get purpose now. So...who gave the kill order on the random crowd? It does actually affect my decisions."

You're better? That's great! Well if you're letting us all out, I'm the only one in my direction as far as I can tell, or at least nobody is between us. Don't know where in the facility I am exactly.

"...Look, you really need to stop making that face. I know you probably think it's intimidating, but honestly, it looks like you got your metapod to use harden while you were doing this muk, if you know what I mean. Speaking of which, let me guess, you cut their limbs off and generally mutilated them, didn't you. Or did you attach them to magnezones? I assume you don't have an electric tangrowth. Or anyone who knows how to carve bone on a living subject. Oh, or jigglypuff that put people to sleep before harvesting organs. Those guys sucked."
He nods and shakes his head, making general notes in his head.

Anni's face turns dark. Not dark in expression; it's as if some great shadow actually possess his face. A burst of purple energy flies from his hand, throwing you into the back wall. As you lay dazed, he runs over and starts slamming his fist into you. It hurts; that's for sure.

You think you're so funny, don't you? How about you come with me; I have something to show you.

He leaves the room. Two guards come in; one grabs an arm, hefting you up, the other grabs your shoulder. They hold tightly, not giving you much room to maneuver your arms as they guide you down the corridor.

56 from the ball.

Well, at least Elly is okay. Though I still need to kill Anni to stop him. But that can wait. We'll get you soon. Romeo grabs one of the potions and uses it on Elly, trying to mke her feel a little better. If Gerald went crazy when someone hurt his dog, Romeo instead went cold with fury. Just like if someone had hurt Alana, he was calm. But his calmness didn't mean he wasn't angry. It just meant he was calculating how to use his knowledge of the human body to tear Anni apart, piece by piece. No one muks with his family like this. Cresselia was right. He was a beast that needed putting down for the greater good.

potion on Elly: [roll0] hp regained.

'Now then girl, lets go see if me and you can save the others. But first, we have a gift from a friend to try out.' Romeo pulled out the chain and gulped. Even if it was Cresselia, he had no idea what it would to to Elly. But without it, they might not have the strength to escape. So he did what he had to do, and took off her Normal Booster necklace and placed the chain on her.

As you put the necklace on Elly, it is absorbed into her body. She starts to glow brighter and brighter; a white, pure light. Eventually you are forced to look away, the light burning your eyes. When you look back, Elly is changed. Instead of the black, yellow ringed creature you have come to recognize, there is now a smaller, lithe purple Pokemon. Its forked tail twirls expectantly and a small red jewel dots its forehead. A small crescent moon lies on her left hip, glowing softly.

Romeo? the new Elly says into your mind, looking over her new body. What just happened?

Elly has become an Espeon! You may completely restat her, although you'll want to keep the Umbreon sheet. She has a few new tricks, but those will be detailed at a later time.

Cheeky bastard. Ethan tries to time his attacks in a code, much like how Mjolnir had been communicated. Punches for dots, kicks for dash. Hopefully, the Rotom picked up on the pattern. Kick, punch, kick, kick, pause, punch, pause, punch, punch, punch. Yes.

He repeated the pattern, including an extra long pause after the sequence ended.

[roll0]

It takes a few tries, but eventually you manage to pull off the combo; the damn Rotom keeps interrupting them with attacks. After you pull off the combo, the fight stops for a second. The other fighter leaps forward, knocking you out. As the screen says winning, you feel a surge of electricity flow between the pad and your glasses. A second later, you feel it jump out, flying towards the wall. About fifteen seconds later, the Rotom comes back.

On your pad, Wooper Looper begins to play.

Honestly, I'm just as confused as you are. Arte, any thoughts on the matter?

Romeo looks over her new body. He runs his hand over her new legs and her tails. Yep, her entire body was different. Hmm, no matter how I look at things, you are an Espeon. How is it? Can you use your new powers well? But how to test them?

Elly, try and read the mind of the guard outside the door. While Elly does that, Romeo loots the knocked out guard, taking his gun, then sorting through the balls, trying to figure out which ball was what pokemon. He needed to find his team and Sparky first of all.

Well my family worshipped a couple of the gods. Darkrai, Kyurem and Giratina, mostly. Don't know much about Crescellia. I suppose if what you said is true, Crescellia might have blessed that charm you got, and a way it manifests is by changing Elly into a lighter form. As to her interst in you, no clue. Benevolent gods like kind people, maybe? Not sure why she'd take an interest in a Rocket recruit though. Especially a Mewish one. Artemis thinks on the matter. It doesn't take long before you have your Pokemon; your entire team found and accounted for. Sparky is a quick find too; it only takes a few minutes and you have it.

Ok, Elly "says", jewel glowing softly on her head.

You don't remember much; Darkrai was the god of darkness, nightmares, and fear, and was generally linked to eclipses while Cressalia was love, hope, and other such "nice" things. The moon was commonly her domain. The two were competing entities, often using mortals as tools in their divine struggle.

You awake some time later in a dark room. You're up against a wall; your good arm is bound to it by your wrist, your ankles, and one last restraint across your chest. They're old school; just straight up leather straps with hooks.

Mr. Slate, you're awake I see, you hear from an indescribable point in the shadows.

There were a few stories of them using mortals in divine struggles between them. It tended to not end well for one or both mortals. I'd be careful. Careful of... That would explain the massacre in Saffron being excessive. Wait, shouldn't I be keeping an eye on the guy? He'd feel you keeping a tab on him just as you noticed him. Self preservation. Self preservation might mean keeping an eye on Romeo and warning him of people who would kill him in an instant. And if he goes to pick off the meddling psychic girl before he returns to his other prey? I stand a better chance than Romeo. Romeo has mons. And so does the killer. ...

Well like I said, I'll help any way I can from here. One guard she could handle. Two would be tough, but doable on their own. The problem was the other ones that the facility was crawling with, and the low odds that any of them had much medicine on them in case of injury... Eh, worth asking. If you got out, you have to have taken a guard or two out. What all do they care on their persons?

Too far? Oh no, you're just far enough, he says, some lights coming on. They highlight around you to reveal a grisly sight.

All around the room are cages full of people. Trapped, like animals. They don't do anything; they just sit there, a dead look on their face, but they're very much alive. There has to be at least thirty of them; all in cages, all with the same dead look. You recognize one from the Team Rocket base; he had been gearing up when you left. Now he sits there with a dead look in his eyes, gently rocking back and forth.

Seem them? he says, a sick grin on his face. They thought they'd try to resist too. That one, he says, gesturing to a woman, actually had the nerve to throw a punch. So here's your last chance. Give me some reason to let you live a minute longer with you mind in tact. Please, humor me, he says, putting on a pair of black gloves.

Nightmare smoke? he says with a chuckle. Please. That stuff is barely good for giving a grown man nightmares. Trust me, this is far better. Darkrai sends his regards, he says. Before he you can respond he walks over, leans in...

And clamps his mouth on yours.

Shock gives way to horror as you start to feel something wrong. Your very being, your very essence, was being drained away. You try to cling desperately to cling to memories, however painful they may be. You try to scream, but find yourself unable to. Your childhood memories, your tortures, your pains; leaving your body, going into him. It feels like it goes on forever; finally, he lets go.

Father Darkrai, he mutters, gasping for breath. You.... You're memories... he says, trailing off for a second. Give me a minute. I just need a minute, he says, seemingly about to pass out.

You try to wrack your memory for your past. Your Pokemon? Static? Spinner? Sparky. Sparky was right. Your name. Jeremiah. Joseph? Gerard? Gerald. Gerald was right. As you try to cling to memories, you hear hooting to the left. Two ape-like Pokemon, covered in cuts and hands soaked in blood, rattle an electronic cage. Probably some sort of interrogation thing.

Eventually you've chipped a good sized hole in the wall. It's more of a large dent than a real hole, but it works. As you hit though, you eventually hit harder and harder stone, bending and warping the chair more. One last hit breaks the metal, leaving you with a jagged edged seat.

As you stop, you hear a gunshot.

You're the Rotom ATM.

As you travel through the wires back to the strange scene, you arrive just in time to see the man clamp on to the other guy again. The good guy starts flailing against his restraints instantly. You have a great view from here. You don't see much; there's some lights you could mess with, various computers, and what looks like an electronic gate. Inside are two Pokemon, although they have leashes on. There also are a handful of electronic torture tools; a drill, tiny saw, and tazer stand out.

The restraints on the other man are old school; not possessable, unfortunately.

The Rattata answers in the positive. It dashes off and a few seconds later there are six more of the little critters, all tearing at the meat. Most seem even weaker than the one you met, although one is much larger with its fur just starting to brown, likely meaning evolution.

While the rats are still in the wall, another gunshot sounds. You can hear guards running down the hall.

Paul reaches out through Speck to have him communicate with the others after they have had their fill.

I have friends who sound like they may need my help. Can you tell the others to try to weaken the bonds that hold me? Especially the big one there. If we can find and free the others, they have more food for your family.

Did a CHA check for you. Damn Nat 20...

Speck relays your message. A few seconds later, the group of Rattata get to work. The large one bites down on your leg chain once, twice, three times, snapping the chain like it was nothing. It looks up at you, a slight grin in its eyes.

They thought they could intimidate me! Beat me down, strip away my friends, my team. They thought that could stop Paul Ticker. And they might have been right. But they didn't count on the return of Johto's most dangerous trainer...Rattata Joey!

He looks at his hairy horde of helpers.

Speck, you and yours have already done a lot, and if you want to wait until this is over that is fine. I will come back with the food I promised. But I am going to go hurt the badmen that have hounded and attacked you and your family. And if all of you come with me, especially Big Bad Brown over there, then we ought to be able to swarm over them.

Int to open the gate. [roll0]

It takes a try or two, but you manage to get the cage to pop open. As you do so, the apes run past your, hooting and hollering. They make a beeline for Anni. He sees them coming and hobbles quickly to the table. He grabs something, injecting it into his arm. The waves of electricity go away just in time for the apes to tackle him.

Gerald shakes his head, trying to clear it. Pain in his hand...why didn't that bother him as much? You manage to crawl a few meters, then begin to feel better. You think you could probably at least stand now. It probably was a good thing you didn't get up; two apes, apparently coming out of nowhere, leap at Anni, tackling him. They seem familiar, but you can't remember from where.

Artemis sprints down the hall, weaving to her left when she spots the side hallway. (4m into side hallway)

As you race down the hallway, a guard takes a shot at you, clipping your shoulder. You manage to duck into the room, slamming the door shut. You barley have time to brace it before it is almost slammed open by the opposing guards. There's no internal lock, although a quick look around shows that this appears to be a supply closet. There are cleaning agents, supplies, and the basics like brooms and mops.

A man continues to slam into the door. From under the door you can hear a siren sound and see a red light flash.

Romeo gathers up all his gear, and as much of his team mates pokemon as he can. He then starts to pull on Arte's armour and Ethan's gauntlet. He'd apologize about borrowing them later. Also need to apologize about Sparky too.

You manage to quickly find everybody's main Pokemon; Willy and Buck for Paul, Mjolnir and Ollie for Ethan, Sparky for Gerald, and Aquilla and Dilumvium for Artemis. Thirty seconds more of looking gets you your entire team.

Elly looks at you quizzically.

I don't think you want me to open the door, she says.

They're in another cell block. Go left. Look for a yellow door.

Paul laughs, a deep, slightly manic chortle that sends his belly shaking.

They thought they could intimidate me! Beat me down, strip away my friends, my team. They thought that could stop Paul Ticker. And they might have been right. But they didn't count on the return of Johto's most dangerous trainer...Rattata Joey!

The Rattata seem unsure. A quick chattering goes between the Pokemon, finally ending with the big one growling at the others.

We fight, Speck thinks simply.

The other 7 nod in unison.

Either I can give you the stats and let you command directly or just handle them for you. Your choice.

Buck, I'll need to rely on you and Sparky now to protect us. You've always been one of the stronger members of the team, and I probably can't command Mjolnir or Willy to well. I believe in you. You're Paul Ticker's new ace.' Romeo nodded at Buck, then moves to the door, and pressed his ear against it. If all was quiet, he'd head for the direction Cresselia told him.

'I'm sorry to be such a burden on you my lady Cresselia. I promise you I am trying my hardest. Could you guide my companions too? Or, if not, can you at least contact Arte next time she reads my mind? I understand if you can't.'

Artemis clasps at her shoulder, but it seems like it was just a small flesh wound, nothing serious. She holds against the door, frantically looking around. What to do, what to do... Sprinklers, that would be good. With an alarm already blaring they shouldn't hear. What to use... couldn't rely on a random detergent to catch fire, and she didn't want to poison herself with the fumes. Just need a quick burst of it...ah-ha! An aerosol bottle flies over to her. Next, disable movement when they come in. Need more than that just water for that... Ah, there we go! A bottle of liquid soap is pulled over to her. She uncaps it and pours it around the room, adding another if it isn't enough until the whole room except for the small area behind the door is slick (still need friction to hold the door back, after all). She uncaps the aerosol can and puts two fingers on the two sides of the nozzle and runs an arc of electricity between them. She then sprays the spray at the smoke detector.

You manage to get to your feet and race out the door, which is unlocked. As you enter the hallway, a wave of sound hits you. Some kind of red light is flashing and a high pitched burst of sound goes on and off. You don't know the purpose, but it's there.

Just then, a man rounds the corner, bumping you. You swing your leg low, taking his legs out. As he falls, you stomp on his wrist, forcing him to drop his gun. You flip it up to yourself, take aim....

BLAM

The body slumps to the ground. You are more than Gerald. You are The Assassin; a man with a past you can't remember, but your training remains. Even with one arm, you're a better fighter than most of these fools.

Another two guards round there corner, guns at the ready.

"Prisoner escaping!"

Level 15 Normal Gun.

I'll also allow you to have a free attack a round. Have fun!

Well that was fun. Lets see if any of Egghead's other friends need their butt's saved. The Rotom sneaks away from Kissy-Face Man, staying invisible, and going back into the camera system. Looking for anyone needing technical support.

As you leave, you see an ape fly across the room, a purplish glow around its chest.

Soon enough you find cameras. The kisser is in the hallway; you arrive just in time to see him blow somebody's brains out. You can't find the ugly girl, but her lover is making a run for it. Paul is still in his cell, slamming into a door.

You see Anni send the other ape flying, getting up, seemingly unhurt. You see a large guard blow a large Rock Pokemon's brains out, his companions firing on the others. You see a squad close in on Romeo.

Romeo lets Buck out. 'Elly, carry as many of those balls with you as you can. Same plan. We see a bad guy, we chuck an unknown ball at them and run. I cannot speak with them. Even now, simply with you, it is a strain due to HIS presence, the voice says.

As you exit the room, Buck leads. You make it around the corner safely; seems that Rhyhorn is doing its job well. Elly has about five Pokeballs circling around her. You round another corner; no guards. You see the yellow door!

Then three guards round the corner. They see you, shout, and raise their guns. One fires, but Buck leaps in front of you, taking the shot.

Behind you, you hear the blast of a shotgun. The Rhyhorn cries out, and its roaring stops.

8 damage Buck.

She uncaps the aerosol can and puts two fingers on the two sides of the nozzle and runs an arc of electricity between them. She then sprays the spray at the smoke detector.

The aerosol ignites, sending a jet of fire at the detector. A few seconds later, a sprinkler starts to drench the room, putting a thick coat of water on the ground that mixes with the soap to create a sudsy mess. You can barely keep your feet on it.

Your footing unsafe, the door is busted open as you lose your grip. You fall to the ground. Two guards enter the room, guns pointed at you, the sprinkler quickly coating them.

"Gotcha," one says, taking aim at your head.

Probably just let you control them. I'm not supposed to have that info as a Mystic anyhow; they only listen to my suggestions, they don't take my orders as if they were mine. Although of course the real reason is I'm lazy and I don't have the time.

Despite your efforts, the steel door does not yield. In fact, you just end up hurting your shoulder.

Speck, on the other hand, has a better plan. Chattering at two other rats, he squeezes under the door. You hear a scream from outside, a few gunshots, and then the rats return. Speck squeezes under, a ring of keys clenched in his bloody jaws.

Freed from his prison, Paul emerges into the hallway, following the Rattata horde or, if they don't have a direction, just stomping around until he comes to an enemy, a teammate, or something of worth to steal.

As you rush down the hall, you only meet a few scattered guards that your small pack easily tears through. As you round the corner you hear a shotgun blast just in time to see a Rhyhorn's brains splatter across the walls. The gun is wielded by a brute of a man; over six feet, and at least your weight although it appears to be comprised of muscle, not fat. He chuckles, then turns when he hears a guard scream, Big Brown in the process of removing the man's throat.

He quickly pumps his shotgun to fire at you. He aims, fires....

And instead of the wetness of blood and excruciating pain you expected, you instead hear a curse. Speck is clinging on his hand, biting hard. The man curses, shaking his hand, throwing the Rattata heavily into the wall. He pumps his gun, takes aim....

BOOM

The blast tears into the wall. You can see Speck almost torn apart by the blast. He pumps his gun again, then turns to you.....
