The barb connects, dealing quite a bit of damage to the Chimecho but not nearly enough. The Chimecho responds as it has the past few turns, sending yet another burst of sound at Willy. The echoes are starting to reverberate, making your platform vibrate slightly.

"And it looks like that last Echoed Voice was just too much for the little Sandshrew!" Sabrina commentates as Willy falls, even her superior training not allowing her to remain standing. Small streams of blood are running down from the poor Pokemon's ears. Seems her eardrums have done something bad. "Samara is off to a great start here!"

The Chimecho once again disappears in a flash of blue light, reappearing in the middle of the arena.

The barrage of bubbles hits the Murkrow hard, dropping the Pokemon to the ground. Somehow though, somehow it shoves itself back up. The overhead display shows it with a sliver of health left; it can't have more than three or four remaining at this point. It flies forward, a dark aura of energy gathering around the Murkrow as it nears Frondly. When it's just nearby it unleashes it, hitting Frondly with the force of a bullet.

"And that would seem to be a Critical Hit! That was one strong Dark Pulse there! Looks like Paul is down two Pokemon now!"

Samara is smirking, obviously pleased with herself.

And a lucky Dark Pulse. If she was gonna challenge them, Calva will be key, as she was Arte's only team member who could combat Psychics and their weakness counters at the same time. The problem would be dealing damage in return. Maybe she could stall out somehow.

The Murkrow looks down at the oversized Rattata with contempt.

She's cut short as the Murkrow slams a wing into the Rattata, sending it flying into a wall to bounce off with a thump.

"-and another Critical Hit," she says dryly. "Samara, how do you do it? Wait, the Rattata may not yet be down," Sabrina says, looking at it.

And she's right. Big Brown is twitching slightly. Suddenly, all at once, he rears up, twice the size he had previously been. He leaps forward at the Murkrow, long fangs biting into the bird repeatedly, spouts of blood flying from each bite. Samara hurriedly returns the Murkrow before it can be too badly hurt.

"And it looks like that Rattata has evolved! That should swing the odds in Paul's favor!"

Samara sends out her next Pokemon, a small pink orb.

"Looks like a Munna is next up! Quite an exotic Pokemon you have there Samara," Sabrina says.

This was made up for in nature by hanging the eggs on a safe web, so Romeo just needed to make sure it was untouched. Romeo pours himself a cold glass of milk and a bowl of healthy wholegrain cereal with fruit on top. Then he eats his cereal with Puck sitting on his lap, munching his own breakfast. They sit there, waiting for it to hatch, and waiting the others to wake up. If John wakes up, he calls him over to watch with them.

It details each and every hit you have ever done, something quite impressive for Team Rocket to have gathered. At first you think that's it, but flipping the page reveals three entire pages of hits. Every single one has the same marker; DECEASED. Except one. One, next to "Arman Digger," that one doesn't. That must have been a failed hit.

Soon enough a stinger; wait, stinger? Since when do Joltik have stingers? Anyways, it quickly tears itself free of the webbing, crawling out. While it mostly looks like a standard Joltik, it has a long barb sticking out from the same area that its spinnerets are.

It looks at you, a miniscule Pokemon, and chirps sadly.

The golbular Munna floats just a little too high, causing Big Brown's vicious fangs to miss by a hair. That's right. A Pokemon that is basically a glob dodged your attack.

It floats away, moaning softly, then sends a beam of hypnotic energy at the Raticate, causing it to fall asleep.

Big Brown is now asleep.

"It looks like Samara has that Raticate under control!"

Romeo holds out his hand for the little baby to crawl up, while Puck stares at it, wide eyed. In his other hand, he texts Gerald.

-Yo, baby Sparky hatched. You want to come over and meet it?-

Then he gets a text from Romeo. He reads it, looks up to Sparky and smiles.

She raises her front legs and chirps happily, as he slides the file into a drawer and heads over, knocking on the door in under a minute.

The Munna yawns loudly, floating a bit away from Big Brown to end up on a pink teleporter, sending it across the battlefield.

"And it seems Munna has used Yawn! This will be interesting."

Romeo carries the baby Joltik over, and opens the door. 'Look what I got. No eating him Sparky, he's not for eating. I'm not sure about Joltik, but some bugs eat their youg, so keep an eye on them, okay Gerald.' Romeo was serious. No matter how much Gerald loved Sparky, or how much he trusted her, he wasn't going to risk a baby pokemon. 'I'm serious, keep an eye on it.'

'You got some pokeballs? If not, I'll give you one.'

Paul grins. Barely legal is a status I often like. BB, we'll tsave you for later. Right now it's time for a new arrival. His name is Buck, and he came here to....party.

The Raticate returns, and the Scraggy emerges in L-4.

"And know we have a Scraggy on the field! These Pokemon are quite the powerhouse, capable of hitting for a lot of damage as well as being a dark type Pokemon!"

Samara returns the Munna, sending out a stout blue Pokemon across the field.

"And it looks like we'll have a punch-out here! We have both a Meditite and a Scraggy, both of which are part Fighting Type!"

[Eshkigal]

"I did some research on Sparky back when I found her in an engine. Joltik are perfectly nice to their children, and galvantulas normally have small swarms of their babies on them. However, the mother normally will eat her mate, so keep an eye on that with Hardcase."
He watches as Sparky hops over to Romeo's hand, and begins cleaning her son with her foreclaws.
"See? They're fairly matronly. Though I was going to see whose company he enjoyed more amongst the team."

Buck moves through the teleporter and into F-17, aiming to slam his bony skull into the floating Meditite.

The Scraggy is gone, and instead we have a small Smoochum posing and preening in H-5.

You release Zoophy without issue. She shudders in anticipation as she looks at the Meditite then mimes the action of a fist breaking a brick.

The Meditite, on the other hand, stays in one place, sitting in a meditative stance to try to focus its mind.

"And it looks like the Meditite is using Meditate to boost its Attack!"

One of the Meditite's eyes cracks open as you insult it, only to close its eyes again and focus.

"It seems the Challenger has insulted the Meditite in an attempt to lower its Attack. An unorthodox strategy to be sure, but it seems to have worked."

Smoochum continues to scurry about, ending up in D-10, where her eyes glow and she begins to toss her foe about with the power of mental thinking.

The Meditite barely flinches from the attack, continuing to keep on focusing.

"What is Samara doing? She isn't even having her Pokemon respond to the attacks! A high Attack won't help if you're unconscious!"

Paul shrugs and moves Zoophy to E-14, where she fires off a powerful Psyshock.

[roll1] hits physical defense.

[Arcran]

The powerful Psyshock finishes of the Meditite, causing it to drop unconscious.

Samara rolls her eyes, annoyed. Pulling out another Pokeball she sends out a strange Pokemon with a long mustache.

"And it seems Samara has elected to send out her Ace Pokemon at this time! That is not a common occurrence friends. Seems like she wants to get this battle over with!"

Either swap or the Kadabra's turn.

Staying with Zoophy.

[Arcran]

The Kadabra jogs forward. As it does so green circles of light cluster on its arm which it then releases at the Smoochum, the waves emitting eerie soundwaves as they do so.

The waves, despite being aimed around a corner, connect solidly with Zoophy. They toss the Smoochum like a ragdoll, knocking her off her feet. The attack, while not lethal, with likely leave her with a headache for at least a weak or two.

"And a powerful Signal Beam by Samara's Kadabra! That Smoochum is a tough little gal; last week that Kadabra killed a Pokemon with that attack. The odds are again in Samara's favor."

74 damage.

I cannot resist a little ace on ace. Buck, if you please...

Buck emerges, hits the teleporter and winds up in K-4.

[Arcran]

The Kadabra takes one look at the Scraggy, a hazy white film settling over its eyes. It then dashes away, heading straight for the yellow teleporter and ending up across the map.

"It seems that Miracle Eye is now in effect! Samara has negated the Scraggy's greatest strength; its Dark Type immunity to Psychic attacks!"

Buck moves out to H-4...and waits.

The Kadabra inches forward, taking cover behind a pillar.

Buck responds my doing the same and moving to H1.

The Kadabra disappears, reappearing further up the battlefield.

"And a nice use of Teleport there to gain ground on the battlefield."

Buck teleports to J-14 and uses Swagger.

Romeo places Sparky and the unnamed Joltik on the counter, and recalls his team, checking if Elly was still an Espeon or not. 'I've got a battle to fight. You mind watching John and giving him his breakfast? Cereal and fruit, no junk food, alright? Or, if you guys want, you two could come. Mind reffing a match?'

He makes sure to switch X out with Konoha, he'd need her fire-power if he hoped to stand a chance today. He needed to figure out how to get X active before he could use him.

He grabs an apple, and begins chewing on it. Tasty item. Meanwhile, the baby joltik climbs on Sparky's back, nuzzling into her fur as she makes her way up Gerald's back, eventually reaching his head and settling down. The baby chirps as he looks around, because he's so high up!
"Yeah, pretty sure I can ref for you if John wants to watch. Mind helping me with IDing the grabbed mon after? Also, do you know any neutral parties to cresselia and darkrai? The knife seems to let him broadcast into minds, and seems important for his Chosen to hold, at least if that dream was anything to go by."

John nods in affirmation, seemingly excited at the prospect of seeing a real battle.

When you speak of the knife you feel a flash of anger from it as if it was sentient.

He pulls out the knife and a screwdriver and scrapes the point of the screwdriver along the blade flat slowly and deliberately trying to mark it.
"Quiet you piece of rust, adults are talking. Tools don't think."

When it all dissapates, the Kadabra losing control of the magic.

Good luck, Paul. Artemis slips away from the fight. She had a general gist for how battles went here. Teleporters and obsticals, fight one of the stronger gym trainers. They carry Pokémon that counter Psychic's weaknesses in addition to Psychic types. She'd see how far her training got before making a final decision on whether to challenge for a badge. She decides to jog back to the hotel, grabbing a more proper breakfast. She wakes up Aquilla, who was still asleep, shockingly.

As she heads back out, she spots Romeo and Gerald heading out as well. She gives Gerald a 'Shh' sign and follows Romeo quietly for about a minute, floating just behind him as she got close. Boo. She reaches down and gives a light tap on his shoulder.

The last bit has a note of almost-friendliness to it. Paul then focuses on the subject at hand.

The Scraggy scoots to I-13 and slams a Faint Attack into the Kadabra.

Before the attack even connects the Kadabra disappears. It ends up on a the pink teleporter across the arena for a brief second before flying across the arena to the other side.

Romeo, used to angry ex-boyfriends, fathers, husbands and hitmen, as well as the Chosen of Darkrai, bolts like a bitch. If someone was sneaking up on him, chances where it wasn't good. If in doubt, run.

Well that didn't go according to plan. Artemis flies after him, quickly catching up and keeping pace. Come on, I'm not that scary. What happened to that brave hero in Anni's base?

The Kadabra shakes its head as if clearing away the Confusion from willpower alone. It creeps forward along the edge, trying to get within range of a Confusion attack.

He nods to Arte.
"So how'd you sleep? More smoke nightmares? Oh! Also, meet Sparky's kid! He was marked as staying with you, right?"
From his head, eight tiny blue eyes blink, and a tiny claw waves from on top of Sparky's head.

"Yeah, and different than normal. Most of them were just terrifying or horrid. This one was more...disturbing. Though it may have been a normal one. I don't remember anything about odd eyes. There was something about...green eyes, I think, which this one lacked." She starts to trail off when Gerald's mention of Sparky's son hits her. "It finally hatched? Great!" She pets the little spiderling. "Wait, since when was it to go to me? Or did we never decide on who got it?"

"I dunno, honestly. Kind of lost track after a while. If he goes with you, keep in mind they reach full size fairly fast. Sparky was around the same size as him when we met, and that was four months ago."
The little joltik coos slightly, and Sparky nuzzles the hand too.

Romeo slows down at Artemis's voice in his head. 'Hey, I only just got my legs back, I don't want to deal with anymore hitman any time soon.'

Romeo walks back to Arte and Gerald, panting slightly. 'Let's just say the big flame dude wasn't the first guy I've met. This one time, me and my friend Kino were knocked out, and woke up in a car crusher in Viridian junk yard. Turns out he'd been fooling with Kanto Biker Federation's sister. If it wasn't for Elly sniffing us out, and me having plenty of massage oil, we wouldn't have slipped out.' He covers John's ears. 'I could tell you the story of why I had the massage oil, but that's not appropriate while the kid's here.'

Artemis lands. Wow that felt cool. Gotta get around like that more often. "Don't know if I want to or not, and I think I have a general idea anyways.

So you and Ethan have your 'honor battle' or something. What's with guys always having to fight things out in order to finalize an end to a disagreement? Doesn't matter whether its by a Pokémon battle or just beating the s*** out of each other. I just don't get it."

Ethan's chores done in record time, he releases his Jetang, directing him towards the park for the battle with Romeo.Will be a good hooray, before we leave.

'Really? I dislike his treatment of pokemon, and I'm not going to let it slide. If it was either of you two, I'd do the same. Also, I think Ethan has got the 2nd strongest team, after Paul. If I want to one day battle my hero, Ethan is a good testing point. In all honesty, I'll likely lose this, but I want to see how far I get.'

He arrives in the park. 'Yo science boy. You ready to do this? 4 vs 4, no items? I win, you promise no violence against an innocent pack of pokemon.' He pulls out 4 of his team.

"Fair enough. I'd think 'Might makes right' was a little unusual for you, but eh, I like it kinda." She gives him a smile.

Ethan readjusts his glasses, with a smirk. Now who said anything about wagers? I just thought this was a friendly match my dear Romeo? Fine, so be it. If I lose, I won't harm any innocent pokemon. Ethan grabs his own pokeball.

A hastily erected barrier completely blocks the Fire Spin, sending around the Kadabra. In the same motion the Kadabra unleashes the barrier. For a second it seems like it will once again miss, but a strange energy seems to flow through the Kadabra, giving it a second chance at the shot. It connects, hitting Zippo hard.

"And a nice display of Samara's powers to give her Kadabra another chance at hitting the Heatmor!"

Thor appears on the parks grass, while the shifted fox on the other. I knew you'd start with the fox. Thor, Swift and close the gap! Thor swings its arms, a flurry of glowing stars colliding with the fox from a distance.

Gerald looks at a book he got from somewhere, unsure where, and a whistle he grabbed. He quickly scans through and looks up.
"In accordance with Tucker vs. the League (Psychic Gym), in which the challenger was defeated by the gym leader's proxy tossing their pokemon outside the gym via her alakazam, that is counted as a disqualified pokemon. Sorry Ethan."

After looking back, and making sure she was following orders, Fairy hits Ethan with a Thunder Wave.

He steps into the ring, fist shifting and kicking up dust and pebbles into a halo around it.

Romeo hurts as Artemis easily crushes him to the ground, but he's smiling as he does so. 'Bastards like him want to cheat? You guys keep thinking I'm too soft? No one muks with my family!'

He glares at Ethan from the ground. 'Consider our friendship over. Go rot in the void.'

"Don't pretend you're any nobler. That was a dirty trick and you know it. And don't forget that you attacked him. Breaking the rules of the fight is one thing. Attacking the other trainer is entirely different!"

Ethan gets up, shakily, fighting the paralysis. Your joking, right *ngh!* Romeo? Us? Friends? *GAH!* Your a joke Romeo. We *ngh!* were never friends. Not even *ngh!* aquintences. Your a coworker, nothing *ngh* more. I could never be 'friends' with someone with your *ngh* mental faculties. He turns around, beginning to limp towards the Center, before Mjolnir flies over and gently scoops him up.

Gerald feels...something oddly familiar. Loss. Understanding of what Ethan feels, surprisingly enough.

He turns around, glaring at Romeo, before looking to Arte.

He walks forward, hand reverting to normal as he drags the man to his feet.
"What the judged void, man?! You know that feeling, when you miss something so bad, and you don't know if you'll ever see it again? What's it called...loss? Loss. Have you ever keenly felt that? Because it doesn't take a genius to see Ethan's feeling that, and that most of his stance is fueled by that. So what the muking void did you goad him for?"

Artemis doesn't let him up, but lets Gerald rant. "Don't act like either of them was right. Neither should have acted like that. Ethan knowing loss just makes it all the worse that he nearly inflicted it on Romeo. Romeo wasn't justified in attacking Ethan, but Ethan had no right to do what he did either."

Neither side is, but that doesn't mean he should completely ignore where the other side is coming from. I...I don't know why, but I can feel it. Like an old wound, I can...sympathize, but I don't remember why. And I don't know if Romeo can. Or if he knows how blinding loss can be.

I would think you would also be familiar with the anger that comes from very nearly losing a loved one. You remember when I held onto Sparky because you were worried that our boss would kill her? You looked like you were going to burst.

When we were at Copycat's house, you know what happened when I went off alone? She killed Aquilla. Well, it was an illusion, but I didn't know at the time. As far as I knew, the one being I cared about since I can even remember was butchered right in front of me. I wanted to kill her when that happened.

Elly nearly did bite it with that attack. I don't agree with what Romeo did at all, but I can certainly empathize with it.

"Okay, yes Arte, I understand where Romeo came from too. Frankly, if that were Sparky who got hit like that, Ethan'd probably be dead right now if she died, and removing a torn off arm and leg from his anus otherwise. And probably's just conceding the point that anyone can lose a fight. However, Romeo made choices too, ones that involved alienating the guy who I am relatively sure could be talked out of most courses of action he disagreed with if he thought about it. Best thing we could likely do for that is get Audwulf back before he tries for the pack, honestly."

He tries to get up, and fails. 'Um, Arte, you gonna let me up?' He was still such a weakling he couldn't get away from her even if he tried.

"Oh, right." She gets off and helps Romeo up. "...hey, lets get that armor fitted for one of you. I have a few scratches and changes I want made to mine."

"...Did anyone grab that armor? Anyway, not yet. If we're going to do this, we need to know what our resources are. That means IDing the guys we got at the enemy complex, seeing who'll help, and some tests. Armor can wait until we know what we're planning, and what we're planning with. Like the dustox and magby, want to see if disobedience means that they're willing to work with us first."

"Okay, I'll get us a room in the Gym to figure out what we have." Artemis leads the group back to the Gym, asking for a training room for the three of them.

Meanwhile, Gerald pulls out his phone, and after quickly swiping Arte's for the numbers, sends a text to Jess.
-It's Gerald. We have a bunch of random mon we "found". Want to see if they're usable, and if so, either one of you wants some?

He hands it back to Arte afterwards.

"Okay, I'll get us a room in the Gym to figure out what we have." Artemis leads the group back to the Gym, asking for a training room for the three of them.

The receptionist doesn't seem to care all that much but she happily gets you a training room. A small elevator takes you down to it.

Once down, Gerald tosses his 5 to Romeo, and heads to the middle, ending about 5 m to the left and leaving. He quickly taps Junior with a spare greatball (let me know if I need to roll), which causes Sparky to chitter until he stops her.
"Sorry, but it's safer in there. Now, here's my thinking, Romeo's noncombat so he sends them out between Arte and me. They're hostile, we keep them busy until Romeo recalls them. Not hostile, we work on making friends."
He recalls Sparky too, never know. He also tosses Junior's ball to Arte.
"That work, guys?"

"Sounds good. If they're small enough I can just float them."

Romeo sends out Fairy and sits her on his head, she was the only one of his min team (since Luna was a bit weaker than the rest) that was at full strength. If anything happened, he could try and shock it to paralyse.

'Ready?' he asks. Once he gets confirmation, he sends one out.

The first Pokemon out is a small seed. It looks at you guys then simply squats down, tightening its defenses, likely expecting some form of abuse.

Gerald looks to the other two before shrugging and scanning the mon. He then goes over, crouches down, and experimentally scratches it's head.
"Were you Galactic? They're all dead, so, long as you don't hit us, we don't hit you. Your choices are come with us as a team member and friend, or give us an egg and we find you someone you like. Sound good?"

Gerald looks to the other two before shrugging and scanning the mon. He then goes over, crouches down, and experimentally scratches it's head.

The Seedot looks at you without emotion then leans back, slamming its head forward with a snap, connecting with your forehead.

Gerald takes the hit, head shooting back. He smiles, though. Little bastard wasn't one to give up a chance for a cheap shot, and that was good.
"Heh. I like you. You're probably like me. Romeo, if you would recall this one?"
He stands back up and backs out to safe distances.

Artemis watches the little seed smack Gerald and gets ready to pick it up, but the man remaining calm and laughing was apparently a good sign. After Romeo recalls the Seedot, she lets out one of her procured mons.

As you release the next Pokemon, a giant red beast emerges, hide crisscrossed with massive cuts that seems to be barely healed. The thing is obviously in pain. As it slowly comes out of the shock of being released, it glares down at Artemis.

As you return your Heatmor for Big Brown, Samara sends out her Chimecho once again. It sends out a wave of sound, beginning its use of Echoed Voice.

"And Samara isn't even bothering with a target, simply beginning Echoed Voice to boost its power!"

Why must it focus on her? "Muk..." I HATE UNOVAN MONS! Romeo, if this doesn't recall it, have Puck put that to sleep. Romeo, Artemis and Gerald all become intangible as Artemis activates the ball for the mon.

Romeo swaps out Puck for Fairy, and the little guy takes up his usual place in Romeo's arms, still not 100% on the whole flying deal.

The Krookodile bellows loudly, putting its head down and pursuing the fleeing Gerald. Its powerful jaws clamp down, crunching Gerald's arm painfully. You think it might have broken a bone, but your entire right side is in agony.

Gym Battle Time!
The Chimecho sends another wave of sonic energy at Big Brown. This time it is targeted, connecting with the rat. Big Brown winces in pain but is far from going down.

The Chimecho then proceeds to float across the field, disappearing into the green teleporter.

He darts out with the mech hand, trying to limit the damage to what flesh he has and get it to let go, or at least give it a bad day too.

Gerald's mind is a sea of pain as the croc lifts him off the ground and begins tossing him about. However, he sees it. He sees the way out as the croc shakes it's head down, and then up a few times. After a particularly nasty slam into the ground, he waits for the apex and releases the latches on his arm, going flying onto C8 where he hits hard and just groans a bit.
(Sorry, just felt given the situation, a little fluffier way of moving across the map was warranted.)

The surprise attack hits the Chimecho hard, almost dropping it unconscious. However, it weathers the blow, staying standing... err... floating. It floats just off the platform, using Echoed Voice once again.

The Chimecho once again rings its bell. The sounds coalesces into a point, like a great ball of sonic energy. It flies at Big Brown. It would easily be enough to KO the rat...

"And it seems like Samara has missed! That is unfortunate," Sabrina says, looking disappointed. "Looks like her luck can't hold out forever."

As you all phase the Krookodile stomps its foot angrily. While the ground cracks and bends, shattering the hard concrete, it doesn't even phase you.

Puck cannot attack this round due to being Phased.

BB scoots in before the burst can coalesce, hammering into the Chimecho with his sinewy body.

Okay, now head towards the door. It was her first time bringing others when she phased. Didn't know if she had to hold onto them to keep them safe or if they could move under their own power, so she pulls them towards the wall exit.
Exit door isn't clearly marked, move towards it in whatever way is most expedient.

The slash of air connects with the Krookodile, enraging it. It runs forward at Artemis, fangs clamping down hard on her. It shakes its head a few time, trashing Artemis about, then collapses, asleep, the Psychic still in its jaws.

As it sleeps on Puck's Charm seems to make it relax, even while asleep.

As Gerald nears the beast though, a single drop of Arte's blood falls into the mouth of the beast. Its muscles ripple, growing larger. The eye snaps open, bloodshot and wild. Its mouth unable to open, the heavy tail spins around, slamming Gerald hard and sending him into the wall with such force that he sticks in it.

As Romeo watches his allies fall, the Psychics arrive. One takes one look at it and waves his hand, a blizzard of snow billowing forth. The chill catches the Krookodile as it turns to try to move against the web. The snow and ice slowly coat the beast, ending with it being frozen solid.

Unfortunately, Arte being in its mouth leads to her taking a little of the attack.

You manage to collect the pieces from the arm. The Psychics help you get your friends to the sick bay where an Empath begins to heal them, patching up their bodies. Soon the two are healed, but the shock of the attacks has left them unconscious still.

The Chimecho opens with a powerful wave of sound, connecting with Buck before floating away.

The Chimecho finds itself confused as it tries to edge its way up the field. It fights off the Confusion, managing to act as normal. It fires off another sound wave, connecting with Buck.

The attack knocks the Scraggy to the ground.

"And it looks like- wait, is that Scraggy still conscious?" Sabrina says. You can almost hear the rush of wind as everybody looks at its empty health bar and back at the still-moving Scraggy.

The Scraggy snarls, standing only due to its powerful anger. It stomps forward, heedless of the danger, to G-7.

"Ends this!" Samara shouts, pointing at the Scraggy.

The Chimecho moves to act, bell swinging to gain momentum to launch a powerful finishing Echoed Voice.

Samara gets a worried look on her face and pushes a purple barrier towards the Chimecho, likely preventing some future calamity.

The bell continues to move, gaining more and more speed for a finishing move.

Apparently it gained to much speed, as it rotates too low and whacks the Chimecho in the face, dazing it and leaving a small bruise.

Buck's punch carries straight through the Pokemon, tearing through flesh. The Pokemon falls to the ground, spasming as it begins to bleed out. It is hastily returned by Samara.

Samara sends out a Mr. Mime in desperation. Knowing that it can't use Psychic attacks, it rushes forward to use a Physical attack.

It pulls back a hand..

And slaps Buck across the face. The Scraggy looks at it, completely unphased by the attack. The Mime slaps again, and again, again and again for a total of five slaps, each doing less than the last. Buck has a sort of bored look on his face throughout the ordeal.

"And it would seem the Mr. Mime can't get through the Scraggy's Defenses. This would appear to be game over."

You gain the Marsh Badge! This Badge allows you to grant +1 Special Defense Combat Stages to a Pokemon within 10 meters. This item may be used once a battle.

"Some cash is customary. I'd say don't blow it on hookers, but we both know you will."

Romeo hugs Arte, and gives Paul a thumbs up. 'If Paul suffered, guess that means I'm way out my depth at trying the gym challenge. Bet you anything he could have stopped the Krook in it's tracks.'

Romeo got out his phone to call some food in for everyone, but realised he had 0 funds. 'Be back in 2 secs guys. Going to see about selling this Beldum egg, and the psychic gym seems a good place. Want me to grab anything, or run any erands for you while you rest?'

"I'm good. Think I'll head back to the room, finish my reading and maybe grab a nap. See if Ethan's cooled off yet, maybe talk with him over repairs. Things like that."
He pats the woobat again, and nods to Paul.
"I'll see what I can do about arranging something awesome as a congratulations or something later, but I've had enough bleeding out this week, so I'm just taking the rest of the day off from stuff. Take care, guys."
With that, he slowly makes his way back to the hotel, growing more certain over time with it. Once he's back, he heads to his room and, sending his team out again, settles in to finishing his file.

"Don't think so.... Oh! Someone to fix up my armor would be good. It really got torn up guarding the caravan. It's in a closet in my room." The key to her room floats up. "If its not too much of a bother."

As he gets in, he puts his kit down and texts Ethan.
-Hey, got mauled by krookodile and my arm's muked. Can we talk? Meet at my room.

-I'll be there soon.- Having been carried to the Center and having himself and his pokemon treated, he heads back to the hotel.

Finding Gerald's room, he knocks.

The keys plop back into Artemis's hand. "Wait, I have almost no money... I guess it's something for tomorrow." She gives him a strong hug before he goes to sell the egg. "Nice Woobat. Those little guys are alright." She lifts part of her shirt to look at the wound and patching up done. Heh, and she said I was weak.

Gerald's been looking over the names of people he's killed when the knock comes. He gets up and opens the door.
"Hey, come in. How're you faring? Made a slight miscalculation on the tier of trainer the Galactics could take, so Arte and I are a bit muked up for now."
He gets out of the way, letting Ethan in.
"There's also some reading on the desk, though it's not exactly easy to tell if it's fiction or nonfiction."

A little Empath healing was all I needed. Is that your file? Ethan looks at it from a distance. You need to stop destroying limbs. You have only so many left.

He nods.
"It was the fake one or the real one. I think I chose well on that part, at least. Anyway, I have the parts, just wanted some help. And to talk to you about some things."

Even in his post-battle high, Paul balks a bit at the thought of a Krookodile conflict.

Right, certainly it would have been no problem, Romeo. Just glad it didn't eat my biggest fan. And if you try for the gym, I have a couple tips that might help you out, kid. Ethan gives him a cool glare, before softening slightly. Do you have the pieces? I can't fix something I don't have. He says half joking.

"Well you remember how last night Romeo challenged Ethan? Well they had their battle. Because Elly could lift Ollie out of the field, technically making him unable to battle, Ollie was counted as out of the match. Ethan didn't like that and stopped pulling punches to make sure nothing lethal happened. Nearly killed Elly with a Takedown. Romeo then had Fairy use Thunder Wave on Ethan. We pulled them apart before anything else could happen."

Ha, that's my boy, Romeo. Can't let anyone push you around. All sounds a bit familiar, eh Arte? Still, if me and Tartemis can bury the hatchet after she killed that Spearow of mine, Henry, then I imagine y'all can too. Paul heads to have his battered mon seen to by the medics at the infirmary.

He opens his toolkit, gesturing to the pieces. And shaking some of Ani's brain off of one. He really needed to wash that.
Thanks. I know that you don't want to hear it, but...well, it's about the growlithe. I know you want to kill them all, but...I don't know. Something about that idea just hurts inside, badly. Like that feeling of loss when I look at Wagner in combination with a desire to keep him safe. Like there's some trained response, where my body remembers things I can't any more. Besides which, you waste a perfectly viable set of resources for trading or selling if you just slaughter them with abandon. Also, bitches for Audwulf and Wagner. They'd enjoy that."
He looks at the sheets.
"Keep in mind I'm saying that as someone with apparently enough kills to fill three sheets in small print, so my opinion might not matter much."

Ethan gets to work repairing the arm, seemingly ignoring Gerald. After a solid 10 minutes of work, he sets down his soldering tool, and looks at Gerald. You should know me well enough to know I would not cause wanton destruction out of pure spite. I let my emotions the word hissed out between gritted teeth, a small shudder running up his spine got the better of me. My single and ultimate goal is to retrieve what is mine. What I called... what I called a friend. If it was not obvious, that is a rare commodity I do not give out easily.

"I've only known you guys for a week, and most of that has been spent bleeding out or trying to figure out how to be remotely human. I didn't know you well enough to make sure you weren't about to go off and do something that'd be detrimental. But I'm going to help you."
He puts his hand on Ethan's shoulder.
"We're going to get him back. All of us will. But we have to be clever, and we have to prepare. But trust me, the last thing I will do is leave any of you or your mon behind so long as I can still keep going. He will come back to us."

Ethan sighs. Thank you. I have a plan, I'm just missing a few elements. I can ride ontop of Mjolnir without straining him. I can stay on top of him and well outside their Ember radius, even if they jumped high, I'd be far outside their range. My issue is, Mjolnir can't handle much more than me and even if Ollie evolved, he'd be taken down quickly by faster and numerous mon.

Their main strengths are maneuverabilty, range and numbers. Numbers can work against them, espeically with moves like Bulldoze and Earthquake. But that runs the risk of hitting Audwulf fatally by accident. If we cannot disable enough of them in our first volley, preferably with the element of surprise, we'd have a tough fight against superior numbers. Unlike the Steelupi, they have bite to their attacks. Ethan has obviously put some thought to this.

"Why count on just mon? No offense meant to them, but we have the tools to make more effective means of doing this. Like drones to find their location, followed by a plane with artificial sleep powder and stun spore gas bombs, then proceeding to carpet bomb them with those and ultra balls. The nonlethal part's just because we need to find Audwulf, by the way, feel free to mix it up a bit. It would get costly, but this is just an example. Feel free to come up with one less costly and extravagant, but I'm just saying that we have tools mon don't."

Ethan gives Gerald a odd look before chuckling. While that certainly be effective, it is far beyond our means to do so at the moment. We haven't even received our reward for entry yet. I know at current we lack the resources and skills to attempt a rescue. Ethan stops, staring at the half-constructed mech arm in front of him.

Gerald, you must know. I am leaving Saffron. The Boss Lady offered me a position in the group that developed the Steelupi. Its an opportunity I can't pass up.

"What? It's not permanent, right?"
He looks nervous. There're only so many people he knew, especially now, and fewer still he'd trust with his life or that of his team. To have one leave...
"Do you have any idea when, or where?"

I leave as soon as I accept the offer. How lopng it lasts I'm not sure. And the way I've been treated, I'm honestly not worried about how long my assignment will last. Ethan goes back to work, letting the words sink in.

"Is this because of Romeo? Because Arte had to stop me from smacking him around after that whole clustermuk."
Not that she'd be able to do so this time. Why did he keep driving Gerald's friends away? Fear that they'd get hurt?

No, my decision was made before me and Romeo butted heads. The incident just reaffirmed my decision. I do appreciate your interference Gerald. I'm not sure what would have happened if either of us were allowed to continue.

Paul enjoys the free healing for his victory, and then goes back with ever intention of having debasing sex with several ladies of the night. However, his recent ordeals and the stress of the near-loss have taken their toll, and instead he is passed out on the tattered sleeper-sofa in the living room before 10 PM, his 'dax nearby, awaiting any incoming calls...

Gerald stands there in silence for a bit, thinking about how the team dynamic will change without Ethan. Then, as he considers how the steelupi fight went (or at least, what he was conscious for), a memory from the base pops up.
"...Speaking of modified pokemon, bidoofmuker had another pokemon that looked heavily modified, and angry. Didn't know the species, but it hurt like a bitch to get stabbed by it."

That's.... helpful? It is annoying that everyone and their mother stole my idea but without more knowledge, it doesn't really help unfortunately.

Artemis smiles and rests. More sleep means faster recovery, after all. Should be fine to walk back after a long nap.

Gerald keeps trying to make occasional small talk, sending Squint out and petting the mon as Ethan works.

After working on Gerald's arm for several hours, Ethan takes a break. Gerald, lets go see what our employer has waiting for us. Leading him outside towards Silph. Ethan stops by his old hostel, picking up what little belongings he still had there.

Gerald fires off a general text to the others. Might be time to grab swag.

Romeo takes the offer, and pockets the 15,000, telling them to come get him if they needed any help hatching it. Then he receives the text and swings by the infirmary to wake Arte and ask if she wanted to go or wanted him to pick hers up.
