my party is in a Halloween themed demi plane my character left the demi plan so i need a one shot character and i thought it might be fun to play a giant pumpkin.

character level 12 the dm is rather strict so something i know will be rejected out of hand.

so no dragon mag, setting specific, web enhancements, any magic system not in one of the completes books.

edit no psionics either

.....

Let me think for a second. Okay, Druid 12. Find a plant that looks even vaguely like a pumpkin, spend all day wild shaped into it. Don't ever wild shape out, congrats, you're a Pumpkin.

Maximized Awakened (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/awaken.htm) Pumpkin, its physical stats are those of a small animated object (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/animatedObject.htm) (Con 10) with the Plant type (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/typesSubtypes.htm#plantType), its mental stats are all 18's. That means if you roll stats, the ability score adjustments will be Str +0, Dex +2, Con +0, Int +8, Wis +8, Cha +8. Its typical one racial HD gets replaced by your first class level.

I'd make it a Psion (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/classes/psion.htm), to capitalize on the high mental stats and because psionic powers never have any verbal, somatic, or material components. Get a psicrystal, your character can have a stick-figure body of vines with a carved jack-o-lantern for a head, which the psicrystal hides inside of. Use (Extended) Share Pain every day on your Psicrystal, and remember that its Hardness 5 gets subtracted from every instance of damage it would take from that. You can use Vigor and share it and other buffs with the psicrystal as well. Kineticist would be the most direct course, but any discipline would be viable due to the flexibility of the general Psion power list.

Unless there's a pumpkin-ish type creature out there somewhere, I think you may be out of luck.

The only thing I can think of is a refluffed volodni, but they're in the setting specific Unapproachabel East.

"Strict DM" and this idea are going to be mutually exclusive options. There are no published rules for playing as a pumpkin, so anything you could do will require some degree of houseruling...and your DM still has to approve it anyways, so cut out the middleman and ask him if you can play a pumpkin.

Will it be a Vampire Pumpkin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vampire_pumpkins_and_watermelons)?

You could be a golem? The Scarecrow Golem from 2nd Edition (http://www.dotd.com/mm/MM00143.htm) springs to mind. Dunno if a 3.5 one was ever made.

Fiend of Possession or Ghost could help.

An Oaken Defender (MMIV) looks a lot like a humongous pumpkin. To turn into one at level 12 you'd need to be a Master of Many Forms, and you'd need something to increase your effective Druid level for wildshape by at least 6. Unfortunately, I don't think the latter is possible without setting specific content.

Play a venerable goblin or hobgoblin with wrinkly orange skin? :smalltongue:
