It's Elan! With a banjo! Cool I guess, but what carries it is the siggy which as AWESOME.

Taken on the basis of an avatar it's worth a six. Maybe a seven if I'm feeling generous. WITH the sig, an easy 9.5.

2014-03-31, 06:43 PM
The strokes on the edge of the rays of light are the only things that really bug me. The face lines are odd, but that is what Hatter does.

2014-04-01, 06:13 AM
Hum, something bugs me about the position of the feet and the way the legs are racording to the hips. (yeah I know square lower body is a thing with oots males but IMo that only work as long as the legs are a pure black line, not so well as soon as you give even a smidgeon of volume to said legs wich you are doind here by giving it an outline)
The raindopss seem pretty huge but that's understandable, hard to make them easy to see otherwise.
Nice job on doing face is looking front upward while staying close to regular OOts (who isn't very good for anything than three quarter)

S'okay. feels nice.

2014-04-01, 01:44 PM
absolutely terrible. such a rip-off, and it scarred my eyes

(This is an April Fool's joke, in case it's not obvious.)

Colour schemes are a little unsubtle. This avvie has always bothered me personally. Besides I haven't forgotten that time you enthralled me in the hugs thread.

Design 7 (the legs as has been pointed out are a little off)

Colour 3 (I think that's fair)

Overall maybe 4 or 5.

2014-04-07, 09:59 AM
The cheekbone bit is a bit weird and for some reason I find the sunglasses strange, but I like it. 7.4/10.

2014-04-15, 04:06 AM
It's generally decent, but it has some issues. The guy is clearly looking up, but it kind of looks like he just has a huge chin. The way the legs come off of the body looks a bit awkward - I'd kind of expect the legs to connect at the edge of the torso. Also, the rain is okay, but could be better/more prominent. It's a fine line between making it more obvious and obscuring the main avatar though.

A solid 7.

2014-04-15, 01:31 PM
It's a human Banjo! Or perhaps Elan cosplaying as Banjo?
10/10 perfect and adorable!

2014-04-15, 04:34 PM
Is this made in MS paint ?

If you drew this yourself, points for effort but I'm sorry it's just plainly not very well drawn.
Shaky lines, odd proportions (hand too small, not quite sure what she's doing with it (putting it under her chin to think, I guess ?, breast are weirdly sagging on the side, heads seem slightly too small)) , weird angle of the head.

Try again, you'll get better at it

2014-04-20, 02:14 AM
Okay, might as well give an honest review.

Really clean and polished, with just enough detail to be visually interesting while not cluttered.

The feet/talons/whatever look kinda off, but that's really the only detriment I can think of.

2014-04-20, 08:59 AM
Happy birthday!

I like it, it's just very simple. Which is not bad. But it does keep me from ranking it a bit higher than I would otherwise.

2014-04-30, 06:39 PM
wet, i like it

Imaginative but has art dissonance - the goblin staff is cartoony while the head is shaded. Because of this I only rate it a seven.

2014-05-01, 09:34 AM
It's a pony, and it's a pretty good one, and reflects you humanoid avatar well. The colour palette is a bit drab, but that's my only complaint.

2014-05-01, 10:47 AM

Well done....

2014-05-15, 06:57 AM
Simple, but well drawn. The coloured hands and feet throw me a bit off.

Love it. Flawless victory (then again I'm biased in favour of magic users). :) The green smoke makes me wonder just what (she?) is casting.

2014-05-27, 06:45 PM

It is Custard and his daughter Ambrosia, what is so eep about that?

Pretty, but the color use (white, gray, black, brown) does not have enough varying for my taste, though those 4 colors are used well. 9/10

2014-06-02, 02:31 AM
Hmm. Not bad. I do like the slihttly smaller head than usual OOTs, this is one of the few avatar . it gives an impression of broadness to the shoulder and to the general body,an impression of power, that's good.
However there's something weird about the posture, the torso seems to be slightly tilting back. This is weird.

@V It's a Feng huang (chineese phoenix) you philistine , ....with admitedly just a taaad of western phoenix thrown in, as for the rainbowliciousness it's perfectly assumed.

2014-06-02, 06:03 AM
Make me think of a tropical phoenix. There is alot going on color wise though I prefer a bit simplistic color scheme.

I think you're using your sword and psionics to compensate for something. :P

Points off for the phallic metaphor with the sword, because I find that less than tasteful. Five.

The detail in the sunglasses are cool. Actually, I also like the effect with the light. The eyes, too, are cool - and the jawbone and hairline. In general, attention was paid to detail and it paid off. Pretty neat!

Four stars. Would recommend to friends.

\/ Yup! Reanimation week.
Yes, I noticed that, too. The hands are crazy weird, but I haven't decided how they can be fixed. Other small details are off, too. Pretty much the whole thing is, as well; I just took this avatar as a chance to experiment with new things on Paint.

2014-06-03, 10:50 AM
I'm assuming this avatar was for Reanimated Week, in which case it's a very neat take on the subject.

Have to admit, though, it looks... a bit off in some parts. The hands, specifically. They don't look quite right for some reason.

Still, it's fairly solid and fitting, so 7.5/10

2014-06-04, 08:33 PM
Looks nice, and entertaining. However, it is hard to see the face, and it seems like it should be a little easier to see.

2014-07-08, 11:02 PM
Nice avatar. I like the shading details, and the white stuff floating in the back look kinda cool, like you're charging up some crazy attack. 9/10

2014-08-14, 06:52 AM
Ah, the classic Megahedron.
Looks cool, with a nostalgia bonus I give it 8/10.

A... walking... upside down... carrot??? Top points for imaginativeness, but can't rate the art quality high.

2014-08-14, 04:31 PM
Dirtytabs does quality ponytars. But I still just don't dig the style. 7.8/10

2014-08-15, 05:36 PM
Hmmm... I really enjoy the balance between the colours, and the pose & setting is brilliant, but I'm just not too fond of the "meaty" OotS style. A solid 7/10.

2014-08-15, 08:30 PM
You found the perfect balance of OOTS and hand drawing. It is simply gorgeous. 10/10 all the way.

And I'm really really sorry I didn't do it. :smallfrown:

Very jetty. But not a decent shade of red - eyewatering.

2014-08-20, 01:27 AM
Well, I certainly like it. Dirtytabs does amazing work.

2014-08-24, 04:13 PM
Very nice. I've seen smuchmuch's artwork before and have been very impressed by it, and this does not deviate from that standard. 10/10

@V: On the avatar thread, I said he was a Rogue/Chaos Mage.

2014-08-24, 04:47 PM
Interesting, and well drawn. I wonder what character class that would be?

EDIT: Forgot rating. 9/10

2014-08-25, 01:22 PM
I do like me some Dilbert. Too bad none of my friends want to marathon it with me.

2014-08-25, 01:37 PM
This isn't that bad, but it could use some work. I'd suggest making the head larger, making all the lines the same width and overall thicker, longer arms and a dynamic pose. But not too bad at all.

2014-08-25, 10:36 PM
Seems to be a pretty average-looking pony. Not bad art, but not especially exciting either. 7/10.

2014-08-26, 01:05 PM
Not into ponytars, and it's kind of dim... Is it... Under the sea? 5/10, as it at least seems neatly made.

Septimus Faber
2014-08-28, 09:07 AM
Aww, that avatar is kind of sweet. And I really like the color-pencil style it has. I'd give it a 9.5/10, purely because I'm reluctant to give things 10/10 unless they're so good they have serious potential to cause an awesomepocalypse. I have not yet seen anything that qualifies, but there's a first time for everything...

2014-08-29, 06:10 PM
Oooh, another linklele avatar, huh? As you already know, he's pretty good at what he does. The avatar itself looks like somebody found a way to roll a 1 while preparing spells. Nice.

Actually, just to set this straight, it's a depiction of my current character in the aftermath of the Great Invisible Magic Shop Cafe Table Incident, which has become something of a legend in our gaming group. But that's another story.

Avatar-wise? Dice-cane. Trench coat. Awesome art. 9.7/10.

2014-08-31, 09:00 AM
I actually had the same image in my head as Dudeons. The avatar is nice and humorous. The criticism I have is that the lines vary a lot in size, making the avatar look a little cluttered. I'm also a sucker for shading, and this lacks the aspect. But, I'd say it's a solid 7/10 which isn't bad at all.

2014-09-27, 08:49 PM
It looks very well drawn, sort of like a kid's drawing in the OOTS-verse of someone for Valentine's day. The squiggle floor is a nice touch. 8/10.

2014-09-27, 09:25 PM

Matches up with the style of the referenced seal pretty dang well.

2014-09-29, 06:49 AM
Steampunk, vaguely Soviet, and the hat ties in at least 1/3 of the name. The green is gorgeous and overall style would make Rich proud. I'd like to see that (stage) right wing in its entirety but I know from experience the 120 pixel limit is a harsh mistress. 9/10.

@TPBM: go easy on me, this is only my second OOTS-atar, whose glowing ranseur has been chopped due to aforementioned pixel limit.

Edit: I was going for shell-shocked so actually o_0 works. Thanks! I'll work on re-uploading the original image when I get home.

2014-09-29, 08:10 AM
I like the choice of colours a lot, and there's a lot of nice detail that doesn't clutter the avatar at all. The eyes however are a bit too "o_0" for my taste, and it would be nice to see the complete image in for example your extended signature. A good 8/10.

2014-09-29, 02:15 PM
I don't like the design a lot, but the choce of colours and the art style are both good.

No transparent background? If I'm feeling generous eight; otherwise seven.

2014-09-29, 07:57 PM
An avatar of good quality, even if that is just my opinion. 9/10

2014-09-30, 04:10 AM
I always snicker at this one. Brilliant. 10/10.

2014-10-02, 06:07 PM
Is it bad that I want to cuddle your avatar to little tiny pieces?

Points off since I'm not quite sure what the limbs are doing, but still a solid 8/10.

2014-10-16, 11:51 PM
That's very nice. I'll suggest changing the skin color to something that resembles the forum background less. And making the clothes a little lighter so that I can see all the details. Overall a solid 8/10

Okay, so I pulled my older basic avatar out and I'm not entirely happy with it. I don't know if I can fix it or if I should just make a new one... for now I come to thee, thread! Rate my Avatar!

2014-10-24, 05:41 PM
Quite evocative, actually - it gets to me for some reason, although I couldn't say why. 9/10.

2014-10-25, 12:21 AM
Very nice! If I HAVE to pick on something, the arm is a little hard to see over the white shirt. But still very nice. 9/10

2014-10-25, 04:37 AM
Well hello there handsome. Objectivelly deserves a zillion point out of ten.

(On the technical side, it's classic old shool OOTS style. The legs line width seems a little thin maybe ad the feet wings are a little hard to see. No glaring flaws or amazing details either.

Not bad but not your best compared to some of your later avatar. The character is the same as usual but this first avatar is probably the blandest one due to the neutral "stand still with his hand on fire" pose. i like his design ith the winged shoes, tho.

2014-10-25, 03:05 PM
Well, it's the same avatar as the one above, so clearly it deserves the same rating. :smalltongue:

(In all seriousness, I'm actually gonna say 8/10 primarily because of the not-generic pose.)

2014-10-27, 01:57 PM
Possibly my favourite avatar that you have had. The wings sort of irk me, but I'll only get the score down to 9/10 as I kinda like how it's become your signature look. It's growing on me!

Targ Collective
2014-10-30, 07:03 PM
I find the flowers messy and the limbs very poorly defined, so marks off for that.

For intrinsic beauty, there's no question, it deserves a solid ten for that, but overall I only rate it as 7 out of ten.

2014-10-30, 08:33 PM
The pupil looks positioned strangely, and the light going by the eye doesn't really help much either. Pretty nice design though, and good arts.:smalltongue: 8/10

2014-10-31, 12:00 AM
Cons: The arms are too thin, the outfit looks a bit rigid, the shoes are very basic.

Pros: The hat is pretty good, and the wings are even better.

Overall, 7/10.

2014-10-31, 04:52 PM
I see my request for both wings has not gone unnoticed.

Overall a very solid avatar. Pose is dynamic, ice wings are beautiful. Expression looks a bit off, not sure how to explain better than that The shade of green on the hat could be darkened a bit, and the chest area looks like it's having scaling issues. 7.5/10.

2014-10-31, 09:57 PM
Too be honest, I'm not sure what your avatar is supposed to be. But, for what I can tell about it, it looks pretty cool.

2014-11-01, 12:17 AM
The bricks are uneven and the pose is a little unnatural. He's leaning on the wall with a foot up, right? Needs to be a little more... inclined. So it feels like he's leaning.

2014-11-08, 09:42 AM

Not that the two are mutually exclusive.

2014-11-20, 11:12 AM
Seems pretty run-of-the-mill to me. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing special about it. 6.5/10

2014-11-20, 12:05 PM
It's the Sheikah emblem. I like it, but it's not exactly hard to come by or recreate. Personally, I'd like it more without the white background. Still, I'm not sure I'd give it more than 5 out of 10.

@v: Those aren't glasses, he's using dark magic and it's suppose to be armor. XD But fair enough :smalltongue:

2014-11-20, 07:15 PM
The style's a bit Johnny Bravo-ish for a ponytar, the position of the glasses make it look like they've broken at the bridge and are falling off, and I'm not sure what's going on with the shirt/vest. Good use of color, I like the dark glowing horn and overall unique pony theme. I'ma go with 5/10.

2014-11-20, 07:43 PM
Love the detail on the clothes and the body in genral. seems setailled enough wihout too much. Pose is okay and does give the impression they are doing something. Head seems a little weird but I think it's on purpose.Face is expressive.
Don't have that much to say beyond that. )

2014-11-20, 08:14 PM
Absolutely terrifying. 9/10.

(Only issue I can think of is that the eyes blend in a bit too much.)

2014-11-20, 08:18 PM
I like it, especially how the wings replace the arms and look all...magically energy-ish. Only thing that distracts me is the green Luigi cap to her otherwise blue outfit. 8/10

Septimus Faber
2014-12-02, 04:18 PM
Ooh, very nice use of gradients and shading, but the OotS-iness of the actual figure somehow looks a little out of place against the background. 8/10.

Mauve Shirt
2014-12-02, 05:41 PM
The book is very nice, as is the flame, but the lines of the person are too thin for me to make out his expression, and the hair just kind of looks like a lifeless blob. 6/10

2014-12-02, 05:46 PM
Squeals. So cute. So perfect. So genius. 10/10

2014-12-02, 06:55 PM
Beautiful use of color and shading, I like the watercolor effect. Now go see EmeraldRose about some coffee, that's an order!

2014-12-05, 04:44 AM
It's familiar, yet different, a different take on the OOTS style 8.9/10

2014-12-05, 10:44 AM
Glassy eyes, a very plain position, and an out-of-place pony aren't my cup of tea.

2014-12-05, 11:32 AM
I have no idea what exactly it is (until I googled it), but I like it! It looks pretty good and I saw an image of it so, yes. 9/10

2014-12-22, 02:55 PM
This always makes me hear a nice flutey flute sound. The colours combine well. 8/10

2014-12-24, 03:16 AM
Very cute! I really like the texture. 10/10 from me.

2014-12-24, 04:45 AM
Not that great quality of resizing the pic, and while I recognize the important step of that pairing as of recently, I don't watch the show and thus have little to no investment in it.

@V: Futilely attempting to pick it up, of course.

2014-12-26, 02:45 PM
A nice avatar in the OOTS style; nothing I can find wrong with it. However, if you have no arms, what are you trying to do with that bag?

2014-12-26, 11:37 PM
I like the idea, but the execution is a little off. I'd make the character lean a little more so that it's clear he's leaning on the wall, and make the lines ever so slightly thicker.

2014-12-30, 02:11 AM

But seriously, it is quite charming.

Aric Kale
2015-01-02, 08:36 PM
Anime is nice in general. More specifically, your avatar is done quite well, with well-formed lines and a clear character. 10/10

EDIT: I realize that it's probably a copy/paste from something else, but I like it nonetheless...

2015-01-02, 09:05 PM
9/10 its quite good, but the arm holding things is a bit drowned out by the stuff around it.

2015-01-03, 05:03 PM
It's in OotS style, and I like it. I'm not sure why the lower half of their face is differently colored, but that probably is for a reason, but I like how they smile at the flower. 8/10

2015-01-17, 02:13 AM
I really like the scenery and how the satyr's body and legs fade into each other. makes my attempt look paltry. 10/10

Targ Collective
2015-01-18, 12:32 PM
Well, you've lost the phallic sword. Thank God for that. But I still won't rate it more than 4/10 - the body's armour isn't pleasant to look at and there's little colour variation.

2015-02-03, 10:49 PM
The simple colors complement each other.

"Coat compared to the position of the feet looks like it's dragging on the floor, like a child utting an adult sie coat (unless that's on purpose)"

It is on purpose :D

"Arms appear too stiff (particulary the right (character's right) and of inconsistant length (the left arm is longer than the right), general position fels a little stiff in the upper aera.
Not much to say in general, if it's a first avatar then it's a decent effort, but anyway it needs to be reworked, improved.)"

And how could I solve those problems?

2015-02-07, 08:26 AM
The avatar appears slightly pixelated, in the hair region. (though that could be my monitor playing tricks on me)
Coat compared to the position of the feet looks like it's dragging on the floor, like a child utting an adult sie coat (unless that's on purpose)

2015-02-08, 08:49 PM
Nice! The coloring is a tad strange... But nice. 7/10.

2015-02-09, 06:12 AM
I like it - it's simple, but cleanly designed and nice to look at. Diggin' the rain effects.

2015-02-10, 08:08 AM
I don't know why, but it makes me want to go "awww~" and pet her. Maybe because she looks like she just cast a spell and it didn't work (to me, anyway). Either way, it looks nice and clean and there's the "awww~"-factor, too. If I look at the image alone, outside of the forum, it appears to have some white border around the figure, which looks...odd (and may be because it's a gif...or it's just my computer) but since it's not noticeable here, I'll ignore it. 9/10

2015-02-13, 10:49 AM
That's pretty awesome. :smalleek:

The shading and shadows gives it so much depth. I like the bright colours too, clean and nice-looking without getting garish. If I really, really had to find an issue, to me it looks like the satyr is leaning back, but the positioning of the far leg doesn't quite fit that movement.

V Fair points, I'll have a play with the head shape and avatar colours and try to improve. Thanks!

2015-02-13, 12:30 PM
There is a disrespancy between the round no neck OOTs head and the littl OOTs fingers and the well proportioned detailled body that jsut doesn't quite work, it almost feels like you took one part of the avatar from one picture and stuck the head from another on it.
(It aso show in the angle as the body is turned 3/4 but the head is clearly looking face up the viewer. With no neck this look a little weird)

Note that it's mostly a personal feeling (a criticism is alway to some extent a subjective thing and even more so when there are no hard fixed standarts as is the case on this thread), but I believe it's important to keep a certain, for lack of a better termf, constancy in a picture. Not doing so doesn't look good to me, others may not be bothered by it.

But I honnestly think it would look a lot better if the head was, a least, made to be more of an oval shape than a perfect circle

The avatar also feels cluttered in some places, that might be fixed by chaging some of the colors I think (for example the handle of the bow could be a (lighter shade of brown/darker shade of green ?) to make it contrast better with the pants.

The fingers on the bow handle should be a little closer to each other I feel but that's a detail.

2015-02-13, 03:27 PM
Always rather fond of your avatars! However, the white background kind of breaks the full aesthetic potential your avatar could have. Maybe a different coloured background, at least partially (gradient, a pale blue/green square with thick white borders, and so on). I'd say it's a solid 7/10.

Peebles: my OotS-personification is a halfling, so that's why. Probably just looks a tad weird as the leg turned out too long but eh, I was freehanding. And I used my watercolour pens... they're superb and totally not worthy to be used on simple doodles.

@Targ: I see no rules stating a three-post rule.

2015-02-16, 08:17 AM
It's like a watercolour, I love it! The one foot that is visible is a bit weird though - looks like a flipper.

I've played around with my avatar a bit based on the advice I got above, is this any improvement?

Targ Collective
2015-02-16, 07:23 PM
It's a huge improvement, but you broke the three post rule. :p

Ordinarily I'd rate it a solid 9, but there's three posts. Tch.

So... A six I guess.

2015-02-18, 01:17 PM
Pony avatar? Well, I do like MLP, but those colors wash each other out so much, I have to take some points off for that... 7/10

It's a huge improvement, but you broke the three post rule. :p

Doesn't exist anymore.

2015-02-19, 04:31 PM
Doesn't exist anymore.

Wait. Does it officially not exist? Wat.

But I think this is one of my favourites of yours. 8/10.

2015-02-20, 07:31 AM
He looks so happy standing in the rain. Why, I'm expecting him to burst into song and dance at any moment. I could relate to that urge. It looks nice and clean, although I find his eyes and mouth look a little too high on his face...or is he looking up? It doesn't really look like it to me, but it may explain it. Otherwise, yes, I like it. The raindrops are huge but the more rain the better o/ 8/10

2015-04-03, 03:37 PM
Looks great, also with the background. But somehow slightly blurry.

2015-04-04, 01:27 AM
The face is a little wonky, but everything else is pretty fantastic.

Nice little scene, includes a bit of weather (wx), but the wings confuse me a little.

Adorable nostalgia. 8/10

Stylish and artistic. I like it. 9/10

I just played that game. It was pretty fun, but I had to return it.

Anyway, I like the Avatar. I'd give it a 8/10.

Simple, faceless stick figure. Reminds me of xkcd. 7.5/10

Not a bad OOTS style avvie. If I have a complaint, it's that some of the yellow is too bright to be clearly seen.

I'd give it... maybe 7, 7.5 out of ten?

Pretty spectacular! It'd say it really gives a feeling of what your persona here is like. 10/10.

The linework's a little wonky 6/10

A classic of the style, though the arms always seemed just a bit high to me. 9/10

I always liked this one, Crimmy's paint stuff is fantastic. The fire aura effect is excellent, and the figure is dynamically posed and well proportioned.

Yoshi looks a little odd, but honestly, the awesome concept of this piece and the fact that overall the art is phenomenal makes up for it. 9.25/10

Ooh, a serp-atar! I remember duking it out for her vote in Iron Avatarist competitions... dang, that was a while ago. :smalleek:

The crown is very nice, I'm not quite sure what's up with the thing on her chest though. It all kinda flows together, but it still looks good. Overall a very solid example of OotS Style, pre-noodle update. 9/10

The pony is cute, and looks fairly accurate to the show. Not sure what that thing she's laying on is, though.

7/10 Faithful to the original OotS Style and visually interesting. Cape and cloth don't follow the direction of the wind the hair would suggest, and the cloth looks somewhat stiff though.

6/10. It's pink does give it some credit, but the overall adorableness is too much to score it any higher.

9.5/10. This is coming from somebody who doesn't know much art, so all art is amazing to me, but I like it. I like the pose going on, and I am a personal fan of the monochrome greys and the brighter red and yellow together. However, and this might just be me, but the eyes look a little high on the head, which is sort of bugging me. That's not too big of a deal though.

@V: Thanks! As I say in my signature, all credit goes to the awesome Linklele.
