All,

In all of the books and lore out there, is there a race or a cult, or a sect, or an organization, or a class that is anti-Shades/anti-Shar? Basically anything to do with the demise of Shadowplane folk?

I want to create a war based on any type of arch enemy that may exist.

Any ideas and why?

Uh. . . the Chosen of Mystra are pretty anti-Shar on general principles. Then you get to incorporate in some of the famous Faerunian NPCs (Elminster, the Simbul etc.)

Would I find the Chosen of Mystra/Mystra information in Races of Faerun?

Umm. . . I don't think so. I actually don't have any of the Faerun rules books, I've just been stalking GITP long enough to get the general impression

Initiate of Mystra is a feat in Players Guide to Faerun. It allows you to cast in an AMF. Seeing as she's the goddess of magic, her clerics are fundamentally anti-Shar.

I could see a divine swat team composed of faerunian wizards & mystran clerics with maybe some paladins for tanking going after a cadre of Shar worshipers who are trying to unravel the weave, kill mystra, send the world into the eternal embrace of darkness etc etc.

Karsites. From Lost Empires of Ferun, I believe, but might also have been Tome of Magic. They are all about fighting the Shades.

Edit: No, wrong. Turns out I was mixing up a race and a prestige class into something completely different.

I'm not sure I'd call it a RACE war. . . if it's anti-Shar, a crusade. The benefit of working against and evil deity, means that it's automatically a just war. Woo hoo.

Technically aren't races within the same species? So even a genocidal campaign against Shades wouldn't be a race war.

are likely to become involved.

If I were DMing, I'd set it in early 1380s, before Shar hits on the plan of using Cyric to murder Mystra. This dodges the spellplague nonsense. Plus, Shar could've been reacting to this "insult" when she starts plotting Deicide.

Talk about a heck of a campaign, work against the Church of Shar as they attempt to overcome Myth Drannor. I'd play in that.
