Deadly's Ironically Presented Anti-Spoiler Measures

DO YOU HATE SPOILER TAGS?

Well, Deadly's here to help you get rid of them... with a vengeance! Create a new bookmark in your browser and copy the code below as the link/url of said bookmark. Name it something helpful, like "Spoilers B GONE!" or whatever. Then whenever you view a thread here on GitP you just hit the bookmark and BAM! no more spoilers.

You won't even see the boxes, just the bare innards in all their gory glory.

It also makes sure that no image is wider than 600px, to avoid stretching pages, and will attempt to "intelligently" remove repeated images except avatars. Neat, huh? Sadly that last part means stuff like pony emotes may get lost but the forum doesn't make it easy for me to single out images in quotes as I'd have liked... that's an open problem, I guess.

Tested in Firefox, Chrome and Opera. Should work in any modern browser, but you never know with these things.

Isn't Twilight at both times of day? Dusk is night exclusive and Dawn is morning exclusive. But Twilight is both.

EDIT: Which is why Twilight ships with both Luna and Celestia! :smallbiggrin:

You know, I've never actually done this. 90% of the time I won't even go back and look at my own work beyond basic typo proofreading and a pass to make sure my characters sound like distinct individuals. Once I've written it, and especially posted it somewhere, I consider it locked in stone and I'd much rather invest the extra energy fixing something in a future chapter than go back and modify it. Not sure if that's a great strength or a great weakness.

I can't say I've ever taken a real hiatus from writing since I've started, but I've only actually started writing fanfics fairly recently, and I tend to write very slowly anyway.

Okay, have a ficfic idea seed that someone can grow into a full blown story if they choose:

A new competitive game becomes popular in Ponyville, and Dash learns she is awesome at it, and goes on a streak to become undefeated. Until Pinkie Pie comes along and beats Dash in her first game. Losing some of the attention and the crown of being champ, Dash challenges Pinkie to a rematch, and loses again. Dash is confused, because Pinkie is using a joke character/deck/strategy/whatever. She becomes obsessed with Pinkie, wanting to figure why she can't beat her and take back her crown. Dash obsesses over it and challenges Pinkie again and again, being defeated each time despite even more and more practice and study. Until one day when Pinkie refuses to play her again, pointing out that Dash has made herself miserable over a GAME. "Games are supposed to be fun!" Talking Dash out of her obsession, Pinkie reveals that the joke character is actually a Lethal Joke Character, and invites Dash to play again - for fun only.

O.K. random thought that scurried through my head and out my fingers: who do you think is the fictional character that would be hardest to make into a pony? I don't mean a character that somehow doesn't mesh with some pony ethos, I mean a character where if you made them a pony, ever if you set them in a ponyfied version of their own world with appropriate modifications like making everyone earth ponies so flying is special and such, it would be hard to make it work?
These are the type of things I think about.

These are the type of things I think about.
Someone who is supposed to have dexterious fingers would be difficult to meaningfully ponify. It might be okay if we include other creatures than ponies.

Also, anyone without arms would make a rather awkward pony.

unicorn horns are spiraled, a skilled (read ridiculous) combatant could control multiple wires across it's length and 'switch fingers' by moving wires up and down. The proximity of these actions to their performer's face could make them quite striking in their own right.

Well, me putting Ponyard in nominal charge of the thread twice while I was away, which worked the first time (possibly because he didn't even know he had been put in charge)...not so much the second, though.

Boffinspark and Silent Night have continued to war on each other, I think, but aside from that it's been pretty quiet on the new front.

I think the only new pony-related information that's come out is the insinutation from some of the staff that season 3 is only thirteen episodes long (I hazard because Hasbro/the Hub would have originally commissioned 65 episodes) but they may well be a season 4 already in production. That's more extrapolation from twittered comments, though, than anything concrete, but seems reasonably likely.

Also, Ponythid committed suiciude by Lich.

Starry murdered me, tricked Boffenspark into supercharging her, got stuck under a table that was thn set on fire, took command of the equestrian military because they folded the old Lunar command structure into the guard cycles proper, tried to ruin a wedding, sent a tacky gift, caused Boffenspark to cecede from Equestrian and temporarily declare war on equestrian from the elemental plane of fire, irritated a monkey, got backed into a corner by Celestial, stood up by Midnight, found out Luna is MIA, fled the equestrian military in fear, chased by Royal Changeling Hunters, reinstated an outdated military troop, blew all of her super powers trying to save some pony who wasn't in danger, got squished by a monkey, hypnotized by a möbius truck, teleported to Bleakbane's bridge, smacked away from a shiny button no less that seven times, had coffee accidentally spilled on her thrice, asked why undead and robots had coffee in the first place, and then his under the main console from Bleakbane.

Starry Notions tolerated Starry's reign of terror, helped incapacitate me, got his horn broken off, was imprisoned in the magical sense, mysteriously woke up on Bleakbane's ship, watched the Ponithid die, cried about it, and is now hiding under a different console.

Sol is rotatin stock, practicing his karate, and wondering why moping ever needs supplies nowadays.

Thistle hung out with Jayden, ate a sandwich, and helped her mamma clean up, while learning barrel rolls an flight theory from her father.

I died almost, buried a Ponithid, an stepped back from the projection to allow the possibility to fully die without a thing of Substance to support it, in hopes that it doesn't interfere with too many nearby shadows.

And that's just us. I don't even know what Boffenspark or Silent Night are up to. Except for that vacation to Acapulcolt. Lots of saucy pictures from one of te newlyweds there. Someone talked Boffenspark into speedos, I believe.

Luna is most magical, most awesome, most bad-flank pony ever, this is Canon, because it is the One Truth! If they ever say or suggest otherwise in canon then obviously canon is Wrong, because I'm Right! I can not be wrong, because Luna can't not be most bad-flank, most magical, most awesome pony ever, it is not a possible state of any universe. The Multiverse does not allow for this possibility. It is a contradiction, a logical fallacy, because Luna IS bad-flank, the two are equal and one. Luna is the Chuck Norris of Equestria.

As for her vs. Celestia specifically, I am of the opinion that Luna is the most magically adept and well studied of the two by far. Celestia is too social, her skills lie in being out among her subjects, dealing with ponies and politics, possibly teaching. She is not a pony of war or battle, she is not used to magical confrontation, this is the real reason why she was beat so hoofedly by Chrysalis, because she was out of her element and decided to attack head on without any aid. And this is also why she's so fond of the magic of friendship, it resonates with her as a pony, and without it she's really quite weak.

Luna, in contrast, is the Twilight Sparkle of the two. She's introverted, probably studies a lot more than Celestia ever has or ever will, and she's well-rounded. Long before she became NMM she'd probably already read everything she could get her hooves on. I've also said before I think Luna has a very tactical mind, she's a born strategist and commander. This, not her magical power, is the reason she would have won the fight against Chrysalis, because Luna would not have fought Chrysalis alone.

Luna's only possible weakness is her long lack of friends, something she apparently had at some point before her corruption (if nothing else, then when she and Celestia beat Discord the first time) and she seems to be doing better already in that regard. But unlike Celestia, Luna can do well without the Elements. Not as well as she could with the Elements, but still much better than Celestia.

Now close your eyes for a moment and imagine Luna harnessing the full power of the Elements :smallamused:

Well, she walked in the compound, passed the magic examination, went into the Illusion's devision as her specialty, and eventualy ended up being one of the formost member's of the newly created Hoofington cult branch. Of course, this has more to do with the fact that she was one of the first ponies sent there, but neverless she's a rising star in that parish.

Actually, now that I reflect a little ...

S3 (In which I try to vent all my negativity in one place, all concentrated pessimism. I'm sure there'll be lots of cool stuff in the new season, so don't take this to mean I only predict doom and gloom, and maybe nothing of this will be as bad as I fear, but you never know :smallwink:)
I suppose I'm wary of Cadance and Shining Armor returning. I think this has pretty much been confirmed, and it's a major cause of concern for me, or even THE major concern. I was never very fond of either and seeing them again doesn't thrill me, to be frank.

I am also wary of the possibility of Discord showing up as anything other than a flashback. I don't know how likely this is, as far as I'm aware we only have a vague rumor based on something de Lancie said once, I think. But, you know ... we've had hints, so it's not impossible.

Trixie returning also is worth worrying a bit, because Trixie returning is a very Big Thing! I mean, on one hoof it's awesome that we get more of Trixie, I'm certainly eager for more Trixie, on the other hoof it could end up being terrible. Sure, Luna was also a huge thing and that went well, but that's no guarantee a second time will go just as well.

And then there's this possible new villain which ... I suppose we don't know a thing about him yet, but he worries me too. If he's another alicorn then I really don't think they can get away without explaining the whole alicorn thing, just shrugging it off again would be annoying. But on the other hoof I don't know if I want a canon explanation, because I have a fine explanation that I'm happy with and I don't want it ruined beyond fixing. But ... it's just not the kind of thing you can keep not explaining.

And then there's my constant worry about the seeming trend of diminishing the royal sisters. The crystal empire with Cadance and possibly some alicorn dude ... could do a lot of damage to Celestia and Luna, as characters. This is the sort of thing that changes the tone and feel of the setting, and already has to some extent.

Ever had a deathly fear removed? It's... hilarious.

I've spent the better part of this year having a fear build up inside me, worrying if someone was okay. One text message confirmed that they are. And even though they're the one who was a jerk in vanishing without contact for months and months (seriously, never do that to me. I hate wondering if internet friends are dead) I'm just laughing at myself. For being silly enough to get in a panic, for coming to terms with someone's death when they were doing fine - hell, that's not even close.

I think I'm laughing because laughter and death are so closely bound together. They're inseparable. Have you ever spoken to someone and been unsure if they were crying or laughing? It's like lurching over that vast abyss, putting your foot down and finding solid ground beneath. The fear and the absurdity of the fear.

So today I giggled at the ghostie. And just for today, just for one day, Pinkie Pie is best pony.

A violent, uncontrollable water elemental monster the size of an Ursa Major, readily capable of slaughtering any known fire elemental entity. It turned out to be so dangerous I had to designate it a Class-V threat, and in the event of a Class-V threat containment breach, my ship automatically portals the offending monster to the site of my last major combat, which in this case is Canterlot. Actually, given what else is in Kappa-13, you may want to help subdue the intruders before they release anything else.
On the plus side, the water monster should have no problem neutralizing the local fire elementals. At least they didn't release Omega-66.

Dispite Silents admitly valiant efforts of applying imported oils and perfumes straight from factories from Prance on his putred form, a corpse decked in gold is still a corpse. The end result smelled like a peeled orange left in a jar of vinagery wine for a week, and even if she was used to it, it was still caused her to cough slightly before telling the undead abomination her simple view on currant events.

A noise resembling a wet slapping sound came out of Silents general direction. Nightcore guessed it was either a laugh or a cry. Then, he simply spoke, a voice that had no trace of his supposed Stalliongrad upbringing, one that was at one time almost typical sounding with a sort of vibration in it that was probably a result of the magical nature of his voice that made it sound almost a bit like a buzzing insect. Well, that was more of a guess, but even if one was not as learned in the art of sound as Nightcore could tell that his voice box was probably as rotted as his form.

"Well, it's probably some sort of horrid elemental. Ehh, it's not that big of a deal, my little abomination has already left."

Nightcore looked at the screen and blinked. Yep, she was gone, apperently, along with her supposed mother. Huh. Then she noticed a little glimmer above the horrible water beast.

"Err, Uncle? Look at the space above the water creature. Look's like a summoning interface in the air."

The unliving aleged pony (Nightcore had seen him with purple stripes on his fur before. Her late mother always said he was odd, but always said he was always 100% pony. The again, he also had a horn and his wing's, according to her mother's diary, where typical pegusi wings when she was alive. Nightcore guessed it had to do with his method of undeath.) gave a swipe at his lips with a grey boiled-looking lump of flesh that was supposedly a tounge, and simply responded "Well, what is it?"

Nightcore was going to tell him what she saw, but stopped when she saw purple goop falling on the water beast. It screamed and tore at itself, but eventualy the purple sludge merged with the elemental to form a semi-solid serpentine creature that seemingly ate away at anything it touched. The acidic beast gave a half-cry and slithered away from the direction of the city and in the direction of the little town a half-days travel away.

"Never mind."

Luna is terrifying because her horn NEVER glows during this. She's controlling the weather by her emotions, or the weather is mirroring her. Not sure which is more terrifying.

Does she make twisters if she gets dizzy?

I meant the part where she gobbles Pipsqueek's backside, he runs, and she stamps a hoof. You don't hear RD's laugh, see a cloud get pushed around, or see a Shadowbolt fly off. So, unless the implication is fanon, then I don't see Rainbow Dash being the culprit there.

My personal fannon was that of their duo Celestia was the backline support and utility mage while Luna was the frontline battlemage. For Magical Girl fans Celestia is Yunno to Luna's Nanoha. Not so good in a one on one fight but one hell of a force multiplier.
But Yunno barely did anything, beyond handing off Raising Heart. Perhaps Reinforce would be a better example?

Nightcore looked at the rotten looking pony before her and sighed, but then gagged slightly. Dispite Silents admitly valiant efforts of applying imported oils and perfumes straight from factories from Prance on his putred form, a corpse decked in gold is still a corpse. The end result smelled like a peeled orange left in a jar of vinagery wine for a week, and even if she was used to it, it was still caused her to cough slightly before telling the undead abomination her simple view on currant events.

"What."

A noise resembling a wet slapping sound came out of Silents general direction. Nightcore guessed it was either a laugh or a cry. Then, he simply spoke, a voice that had no trace of his supposed Stalliongrad upbringing, one that was at one time almost typical sounding with a sort of vibration in it that was probably a result of the magical nature of his voice that made it sound almost a bit like a buzzing insect. Well, that was more of a guess, but even if one was not as learned in the art of sound as Nightcore could tell that his voice box was probably as rotted as his form.

"Well, it's probably some sort of horrid elemental. Ehh, it's not that big of a deal, my little abomination has already left."

Nightcore looked at the screen and blinked. Yep, she was gone, apperently, along with her supposed mother. Huh. Then she noticed a little glimmer above the horrible water beast.

"Err, Uncle? Look at the space above the water creature. Look's like a summoning interface in the air."

The unliving aleged pony (Nightcore had seen him with purple stripes on his fur before. Her late mother always said he was odd, but always said he was always 100% pony. The again, he also had a horn and his wing's, according to her mother's diary, where typical pegusi wings when she was alive. Nightcore guessed it had to do with his method of undeath.) gave a swipe at his lips with a grey boiled-looking lump of flesh that was supposedly a tounge, and simply responded "Well, what is it?"

Nightcore was going to tell him what she saw, but stopped when she saw purple goop falling on the water beast. It screamed and tore at itself, but eventualy the purple sludge merged with the elemental to form a semi-solid serpentine creature that seemingly ate away at anything it touched. The acidic beast gave a half-cry and slithered away from the direction of the city and in the direction of the little town a half-days travel away.

"Never mind."

To tell the truth, I believe I may be nearing a major breakthrough on the subject, utilizing employing high intensity Pink One energy to denature the subject's regenerative capabilities." Boffinspark's features brightened considerably as he relayed this last piece of information, his eagerness to put his scientific genius on display quickly outweighing his fear of royal retribution.

Regeln gritted his teeth and screwed his eyes shut as he forced himself to swallow his anger. Regardless of how he personally despised the criminally reckless mad scientist, Regeln was forced to admit that the professor's ability to destroy nearly anything given the resources was nearly unparalleled among Princess Celestia’s subjects. "So you're saying you can stop that thing? Well, what are you waiting for?"

Ah, yes, the thing is, you see, I haven't actually finished retrofitting the emitter array with the proper focusing reflectors to generate the intensity required to achieve the needed infusion levels."

"So what you're saying is?"

"It will be a few days before I can do anything to stop it."

Regeln did a few swift calculations in his head, trying to determine how much damage the mutated smooze would do before the professor could stop it. Finally, he let out a defeated sigh and buried his face in his hooves. Well, he thought, it's not as though this is the first time Ponyville's been destroyed.

I want to read up on one or the Rhee but can't pick, and don't want to devote my few spare minutes to the wrong one :P

Writing update, because I like keeping myself honest: My dizziness problems threw a wrench in my writing plans, as they happened right as I was about to devote a whole week to cranking out Chapter 3. Now that I'm feeling a bit better, I think I'll be able to get a version worth looking over out by later this week.

Silent Night was having a very bad day. Well, it was better than some days, like the time he was a muffen, but this was going in the books as "the day every pony in Canterlot learned that he existed, and they hated him". Sure, there was the fact he had a dragon with some shapeshifting skills on his trail and that his highest-ranking servants in Equestria were missing or currantly dead, but the fact that he pretty much made himself public was easly the worst part. While the distruction of hundreds of ponies loyal to him thanks to Boffensparks cannons weighed heavly on his mind, he had more importent things to do.

He sighed as Nightcore gave a huff and walked out, probably to find that pesudopony she loved so much. He knew that, dispite spending years knowing him, she would never get used to his...condition.
Knowing her, she would cry out her sorrows to the Fleece-raised demigod and expect the assistance that only a being with tenticals could give to forget them. Silent had a open mind when it came to such things as the pleasures of the flesh, after all the cult's naming conventions encuraged large familes with the same basic names, but he was worried that his little angel was being taken advantege of by shapeshifting god-thing. Admitly, he did find the mare in a temple dedicated to herself, dazed and confused, with little Nightcore trailing behind him, so perhapes as long as she was nice to her it would not be a issue. He blinked. Had it realy been twenty years?

He then narrowed his dry eyes as his thoughts trailed to the matters of the Prince. Yes, he did not like the way either of them looked at each other, but lightened his expression when he relised the inevitable conclusion would be a large dragonic corpse to use in his plan for a undead complex.

He raised a leathery limb in mild annoyance at the acidic smoozeish monstrosity before him, and trailed a cracked and dusty hoof over the controls for the screen, but was interupted by the feeling of his flesh boiling in there own juices and the smell of sulfur. He gave a wide, slimy grin. Ah, Charnel.

"How was your day, dear?" He asked innocently. His yellow eyes betrayed him by rolling in there dusty sockets.

"Oh, daddy, it was so scary! First it was fun, and ponies where happy and stuff, but then a pony was threating me, and then a big scary monster showed up and started yelling, but then mommy stood up to it but then a big water thing came out of nowhere! Oh, daddy!"

Silent was slightly guilty at the distress he caused for the little black filly. He took her hug, dispite knowing he would end up dripping over the floor before it was over, and rubbed the fillies hair, which both felt and looked like a red giant. He instinctivly winced as his skin slowly cracked and fizzled, and quickly felt the sensation of his skin tightening and his skin dripping off his hooves like wax. Neverless, the filly simply squeezed at his midsection. He finaly responded to the worrying filly in the same tone (and accent, and voice, for that matter: magical existance gives on some perks) he used with the little one's in the cult daycare centers.

"Don't worry, you will be alright, daddy is going to make the pony who did those bad things pay."

The more I look at the game, the more I think RiM S2E is the most appropriate mechanic. And yes, they've done alot of work in the new edition. :smallbiggrin:

Going to probably say no dragon characters though, unless someone can give me a really good reason why there is one catching a train from Canterlot :smalltongue:

Speaking of Chargen, my list of NPC's is woefully short. You guys who are GM's, how do you make and then keep track of your NPC's? Do you normally stat them out, or do you write a short bio for them?

Two things you need to do:

1) You write enough that you can get to know how they think. Some prose with them, some notes, whatever it takes to get into their head, and realize what their thought process might be for most situations.

2) Basic stats, detail is relative to importance. Your big players you'll want to have a good idea of level, wealth, abilities, etc, but for your more random mooks, shopkeepers, townsfolk, the bare minimum of their abilities can suffice. Know what they should be able to do, figure out what sort of roll modifiers they'll be dealing with, and go with it.

Important note: Figure out these modifiers ahead of time. Doing it on the fly tends to rule in the player's favor, makes it too easy for them.

Important NPCs become increasingly elaborate, with aspects of their personality discussed, revealed and explored on. This technique works decently for tabletop games (you sometimes have to think really fast if the PCs unexpectedly, say, go for a jaunt into the NPC's Astral Space) and excellently for PBPs (because you always have time to think between replies).

The chief feature of my shorthand is that it allows me to maintain 30-40 distinct NPCs without confusion or a billion hours of writing.

As far as stats go, the best approach is to understand the system. I understand the WoD well enough to eyeball how many dice a guy should be rolling based on approximately how good he's meant to be. This saves me infinity time writing statblocks.

Of course a lie can save a child. For example some guy comes o you and says "I'm going to kill child X, where is she?" and you say "she is in place Omega", but in real she is in place Alpha, and the guy goes there, you saved a child. With a lie. And when the guy says "You're nice for helping me, let's get get a drink", you made a monster trust you, also with a lie. And when you say "Let's meet at bar Four", knowing there will be a shoot-out, you killed a fool. Again with a lie.

Math doesn't assume anything, which is why it's always true. Math doesn't determine anything, and nothing determines math. And since there is no point of reference, there can't be any difference between what you think and what there is. The abstraction is already the thing itself. Which of course means math in itself is completely useless, since it doesn't tell you anything about anything. But it's a nice tool for science.

For example some guy comes o you and says "I'm going to kill child X, where is she?" and you say "she is in place Omega", but in real she is in place Alpha, and the guy goes there, you saved a child. With a lie. And when the guy says "You're nice for helping me, let's get get a drink", you made a monster trust you, also with a lie. And when you say "Let's meet at bar Four", knowing there will be a shoot-out, you killed a fool. Again with a lie.

That would seem to be the point. A lie can also unite a nation, arm a crusade, burn an empire. And has.

Ponythid was at least worth the effort of speaking to and expending the energy on shooting... "Bleakmane" does not even deserve that much of my effort. She's not even worth the effort of killing.

Actually, now that I reflect a little ...

S3 (In which I try to vent all my negativity in one place, all concentrated pessimism. I'm sure there'll be lots of cool stuff in the new season, so don't take this to mean I only predict doom and gloom, and maybe nothing of this will be as bad as I fear, but you never know :smallwink:)
I suppose I'm wary of Cadance and Shining Armor returning. I think this has pretty much been confirmed, and it's a major cause of concern for me, or even THE major concern. I was never very fond of either and seeing them again doesn't thrill me, to be frank.

I am also wary of the possibility of Discord showing up as anything other than a flashback. I don't know how likely this is, as far as I'm aware we only have a vague rumor based on something de Lancie said once, I think. But, you know ... we've had hints, so it's not impossible.

Trixie returning also is worth worrying a bit, because Trixie returning is a very Big Thing! I mean, on one hoof it's awesome that we get more of Trixie, I'm certainly eager for more Trixie, on the other hoof it could end up being terrible. Sure, Luna was also a huge thing and that went well, but that's no guarantee a second time will go just as well.

And then there's this possible new villain which ... I suppose we don't know a thing about him yet, but he worries me too. If he's another alicorn then I really don't think they can get away without explaining the whole alicorn thing, just shrugging it off again would be annoying. But on the other hoof I don't know if I want a canon explanation, because I have a fine explanation that I'm happy with and I don't want it ruined beyond fixing. But ... it's just not the kind of thing you can keep not explaining.

And then there's my constant worry about the seeming trend of diminishing the royal sisters. The crystal empire with Cadance and possibly some alicorn dude ... could do a lot of damage to Celestia and Luna, as characters. This is the sort of thing that changes the tone and feel of the setting, and already has to some extent.
Season 3
I share all of these concerns with you. All of them. Nevertheless, I remain confident that season 3 will be just as good as 1 and 2.

I kind of want it to set down radically altered backstories and histories. The story as it is so far is extremely flat, but has wonderful characters. Someponies have invented intricate fandoms to get around this, but it doesn't change the fact that most of it is fan invented.

Of course there are absolute truths and lies, with no shades. If I say a pencil is blue, and the pencil is red, and I want to deceive someone else it's a lie. There aren't any shades of that. he statement about the colour is wrong, and the intentions are to deceive. Plain and simple.

Of course, if I say a violet pencil looks nice to spare someone's feeling even if I prefer blue pencils, and justify that to myself that violet is a bit like blue, we are entering a different territory.

Well, me putting Ponyard in nominal charge of the thread twice while I was away, which worked the first time (possibly because he didn't even know he had been put in charge)...not so much the second, though.

Boffinspark and Silent Night have continued to war on each other, I think, but aside from that it's been pretty quiet on the new front.

I think the only new pony-related information that's come out is the insinutation from some of the staff that season 3 is only thirteen episodes long (I hazard because Hasbro/the Hub would have originally commissioned 65 episodes) but they may well be a season 4 already in production. That's more extrapolation from twittered comments, though, than anything concrete, but seems reasonably likely.

Also, Ponythid committed suiciude by Lich.

As a lay-pony, the best I can suggest is that you are fixated on an issue. Rainbow Dash would likely either represent some element of yourself or some change you would like to make to yourself or your enviroment, or it's more prosaic and the dreams are on the wish-fullfillment end of the scale and you are simply lonely.
Chances are it means nothing.

Speaking of Chargen, my list of NPC's is woefully short. You guys who are GM's, how do you make and then keep track of your NPC's? Do you normally stat them out, or do you write a short bio for them?

I have an Excel spreadsheet I keep of all my useful NPCs. I try to keep just the "fluff" parts-- Name, physical description, short background and occupation, genres they are good for, etc.
I might keep occasional notes about their stats, but actual stats might not be useful if say, I built one using d20 and then need to reuse it for GURPS. :smallsmile:

Hey guys, how's everypony...Wha? How did this thread get here? And why is it so big? Gah, I take a couple days off for stupid reality stuff like packing bags and working 15 hour days on corporate projects and you go and make a new pony thread right under my nose!

Good news everypony! I finally managed to get my coat back to the right color because SOMEONE changed it. But don't worry I don't hold grudges oh no. However, I do have something else *holding bottles of coat dye with a malicious grin as he walks closer to Anarion*

Sits at desk scribbling notes in black ink with magic and paying no attention to the pony with the coat dye until just before it's about to splash, then teleports out without so much as a "by your leave" taking the black ink and magic scroll with her.

But Luna is hotter than RD.

Gospel truth.

It happens everytime there's a season 3 leak, of any kind.
I'll be a nervous wreck by the time the season get's here, it's like living in a minefield.

Twilight is actually Rainbow Dash's Father, but they didn't know that because Rainbow Dash was separated from her parents at birth and raised by Cumulowolves that had always wanted a baby pegasus of their very own.

Oddly, I have only dreamed once with her, and she appeared for a short time, and I was expecting to actually have the dreams with her.

I share all of these concerns with you. All of them. Nevertheless, I remain confident that season 3 will be just as good as 1 and 2.

I am of the "they didn't botch the last set of weird stuff, they'll probably do fine with this one" mindset.

Interesting. The Lady from Nightmare Moon has better bone structure for Chrysalis than the Chrysalis one. And I appreciate the faux Egyptian aesthetic, but I don't see Celestia as quite the bare midriff type. Or Nightmare Moon, for that matter.

As long as you can separate your head canon from show canon, it'll be a good season.

Heck. The two don't even have to coincide. Fun stories come from "what if" statements all the time.

I have an Excel spreadsheet I keep of all my useful NPCs. I try to keep just the "fluff" parts-- Name, physical description, short background and occupation, genres they are good for, etc.
I might keep occasional notes about their stats, but actual stats might not be useful if say, I built one using d20 and then need to reuse it for GURPS. :smallsmile:

In their defense, Pony threads do move at relativistic speeds. It can be work to keep up with the "Current" topic. :smalltongue:

Current topic is generally a false preposition. We have several core topics, including canon, mythology, sauce-versus-Disney, Conjecture, RP, and art discussion. They interweave to make the whole thread. Sometimes, somepony comes along and weaves a new strand into the thread. Sometimes that strand sticks, others it doesn't.

But the thread as a whole has many parts, and you can just focus on the ones you find prudent. Leave the dystopian nuclear RP in its spoiler, skim the next season spoilers, and focus on the cute art and whimsical RP instead. No pony has read every word of the thread; even I, psychopath that I am, missed an eight page stretch back when. Don't sweat the topic too much. Well I mean, so long as its pony.

Sorry, but the only canon for AJ's parents is that they haven't been shown or mentioned in the show.

The difference, and my pet peeve, being that Applejack has more living, on-screen relatives than the rest of the mane six put together, whereas no pegasus (except, again, Pound) has more than one known relative.

AJ was born and raised in ponyville. its unsurprising she has family nearby. the pegusi are from cloudsdale.

Of course there are absolute truths and lies, with no shades. If I say a pencil is blue, and the pencil is red, and I want to deceive someone else it's a lie. There aren't any shades of that. he statement about the colour is wrong, and the intentions are to deceive. Plain and simple.

This example isn't as absolute as you might think. What happens if someone is red/blue colour-blind? You telling them that a red pencil is blue is not a lie for them, it's completely true.

I agree with Thanqol that everything is a lie - some lies are just more much detailed and complete than others, and it's these that we prefer to call Truth.

Nope it hasn't been mentioned at all. I'm kinda curious on what gave you that impression though.

In other news I finally got a chance to play the new edition of Warhammer 40K! And I don't like it. :smallfrown:

Anyways I got to thinking which army would each pony play as. Here's my list

Twilight: Either Elder or Space Marines (Likely Grey Knights)

Fluttershy: Tyranids (Only animilistic group)

Pinkie Pie: Orks (The red ones go fasta, blue's lucky, and the Pink can break the 4th wall!)

Rarity: Elder (Since they are the only 'pretty' race

Rainbow Dash: Dark Elder or Tau. I'm thinking Dark Elder with empthasis on fast units

Applejack: Imperial Guard

Celestia: The most broken list possible using allies :smallwink:

Luna: Chaos :smallbiggrin:
