Okay, here is the second thread, continue where you left off.

Links and stuff:
All, please post what you say in bold refrain from writing in colors besides black. (I don't think we have enough colors that are different for that to work.) If you haven't finished your character please try to do so now. Dice rolls will be made using the forum roller. You all know what I posted at the bottom of page 1 on the first recruitment topic.

Overhearing Keharn discuss cleaning the gem, Erinar chants a few words of power and performs several complex gestures. He points to the gem and it suddenly becomes clean right before everone's eyes.

OOC:Using prestidigitation to clean the gem.

The gem is deep blue and the center swirls like the current at the base of a waterfall.

Trained Appraise DC 15:
You think it is worth 700 GP.

If you want to appraise untrained, make a roll and I'll tell you how valuable you think it is.

Knowledge (Arcana) DC 15:
This gem is the focus for a ritual that bound a water elemental and something else together, and brought them to this plane.

Knowledge (Arcana) DC 20:
The gem will create another with the right ritual.

Knowledge (The Planes) DC 15:
The other thing summoned was a demon from the abyss. They were bound together in the water elemental's body.

GnomeGninjas

It is really valuable if you sell it you could probably buy a house for all the homeless people to live in. Elbone is completely amazed by how valuable it is.

Loki_42
2012-08-15, 07:55 PM
"I really think selling it would be a bad idea, at least at this point. I really am sure it's got to be something special."

Eric Scott

Well Erinar if you really want to take the chance of being attacked by something and take the gem back to town... I won't try to stop you... also, Elbone I definitely would like to see where you found The Flame... Caunion says handing the gem to Erinar.

Loki_42
2012-08-22, 08:21 PM
Taking the gem from Caunion, Erinar will head back to town and search for Galladai.

GnomeGninjas

Good luck not being robbed. Elbones says as Erinar walks away. Elbone leads Caunion to the clearing with the flame.

rweird
2012-08-23, 03:01 PM
Erinar: You find Galladai sitting on a stumo at the edge of the woods, writing. He doesn't notice you until you are about 10 ft. away. What ho Erinar?

Flame Seekers: You find the flame in the clearing. A humaniod made of air is in the clearing as well. They seem to be shrieking and crackling at each other. They both turn as you approach.

Loki_42
2012-08-23, 06:13 PM
"Well, me and my companions found a gem in the spot we were searching. We're not sure what it's for, but it has to be something special. Do you know anyone who could take a look at it, maybe figure out what it's for? I know it's got to have some kind of magic for it, why else would it be in just the spot we looked?"

rweird
2012-08-23, 06:54 PM
Erinar: "I new a young wizard, a fine chap, though he's back in the mountains. Maybe the archives has something on it, or there might be a passing through magician. I can't say myself, though whatever it is, it would make a good tale. Once this is all finished you should write it."

hobbitkniver
2012-08-23, 08:52 PM
Keharn follows Elbone and Caunion and stops once he see's the air and fire creatures.

"Wait, I think they've seen us. Do you know the man made of air? If he is fighting with the flame perhaps we can make an ally out of him. Either way, what exactly do we need to do to destroy the enemy? Will our regular weapons suffice or shall we need something more powerful?"

GnomeGninjas

Domas went with the Fire Seekers.

The belligerent half-orc growls in response to the airy being's attempt to shoo him away, and stands defiantly in the clearing.

Erinar:
There is mention of a gemstone in the story about the Golem that was destroyed at Ironfall Hill, in it there is a curious line about the Golems creation. "A jewel from the dark taken from its brothers, provide demonic drive to the infernal contraption, to serve as a heart for body of infernal steel." Further in the story it mentions the other gems being scattered to the winds at the machines demise and the wind taking one. Where the others came to rest is unknown.

Those that fought the Flame: "We know nothing more of the others, though this is grave news indeed, we shall go now to warn our kin." He says as they fade from view, leaving the four of you alone in the clearing, a few embers smoldering. in the center of the clearing, where the Flame had stood before it approached appears to be a fire circle.

hobbitkniver
2012-09-03, 04:31 PM
"Hmm... did the spirits tell you anything that might help us, Elbone? They said that the air and fire were allies, but said it wasn't tainted. Perhaps all four elements were originally peaceful, but something has happened to the flame and water. The air seemed to still be peaceful and we haven't encountered the earth creature yet. It's too bad we couldn't communicate with the air or it might have been able to help us. In any event, we should probably examine this ring of flame that seems to have been left behind by the deceased fire monster. Has anyone seen anything like this before?"

GnomeGninjas
2012-09-04, 06:25 PM
Elbone likes the spirits are good but 2 of them got corupted explanation. If the air one is still good we might be able to get it to help us. Does anyone have a bird that could help us find the air spirit?

"I'll ask the birds what they know." He says and issues a bird call, several birds flap up to him and he begins chirping with them. After a few minutes he stops and they fly away. "They say 'bad wind here, kills birds, lurks under bell, dark wind man come once, bad thing, keep out of his way'. They kept on saying 'bad wind' and 'under bell' after that. Does that help?"

GnomeGninjas
2012-09-08, 01:18 PM
So we should check out the bell for the bird killing wind it seems. Elbone doesn't like hearing about the bad wind killing birds because if it is the wind spirit than the wind spirit is evil.

"So, did you find anything out Erinar? We found out quite a bit actually. There's presumable four spirits and each one matches an element. We destroyed the water and also the fire so far and we also encountered the air. The air seemed to be arguing with the fire and seemed to be peaceful, but we fear that the air may have become corrupted by now because the birds fear it. Our theory is that the elements have existed for years peacefully, but are being corrupted or made evil in some way. We have made no contact with Earth so far. Oh, and this is Elbone, he's friends with the spirits and he's working with us as we seem to have similar goals."

Loki_42
2012-09-09, 09:45 AM
OOC: Should I still make those checks? Sorry I was away for a while.

When it was destroyed, all the gems were scattered, and it seems like the wind took one. I wouldn't be too sure about trusting the wind, but if you think it's peaceful, I guess we could try talking to it."

2012-09-09, 10:50 AM

You see no sign of the spirit by the time you get down in the archives, though considering the shelves are high, and it can fly, meaning that it might be avoiding you, or just moving in a way you miss it, however, you hear hushed voices talking when you near the front of the archives.

People at the archives:

Spot check DC 15:
You see a woman in a hood sneaking towards the main doors.

Spot DC 20:
You see the spirit at the other side of the archives flying towards the you high up holding a heavy book.

Listen DC 15:
You hear the rustle of wind behind you, this is strange because you are in doors.

You may make an additional spot check, DC 20, if you previously got a 20 on your spot check, there is no need to do such.

A whirlwind flies down and a book falls towards Caunion. flies towards you, scattering books and raising a dustcloud some 45 ft. away in the opposite direction of the woman.

Canuion: Make a reflex save, DC 15 or take [roll0] damage from the book hitting you.

Everyone that goes before the woman go now.

If you pursue her (30 ft. to the corner), don't look if you don't:
You see her 40 ft. away at the door, she has it in one hand and is going to open it.

If you go into the dust cloud, don't look if you don't:

Caunion: 2 books that deal [roll1] and [roll2] damage on a failed save
