PTA: Dusk Island (IC)

It's been 3 days since the S.S Caroline has left Vermillion City, it's last stop before Dusk Island. The time seems to have flown by, what with the multitude of distractions and entertainment on board the luxury cruiser. The sun is high and far ahead of you as the island comes into view. A black speck on the horizon that steadily grows before you.

Less than an hour later and the S.S. Caroline is in the shadow of the great hollowed out volcano of Dusk Island. From here you can see clearly why the city is named Dusk Island. At the inside base of a volcano there is very little sunlight, and so if it weren't for the thousands and thousands of lights, you wouldn't be able to see the city at all. But you can, and so you see the boardwalk that stretches from the massive dock towards what looks like a marketplace at the head of the inlet. To the right you see dozens of hotels packed tightly together, and across the inlet, where the boardwalk continues, you see more of the same. Looking past the marketplace, deeper into the city you see the downtown core, all tall buildings and small cafes.

But rising higher than all of them is the true city center: the Dusk Island Mall. A tall, square building that is flooded with lights. From the top a giant screen seems to be playing something, but you're too far to see it clearly.

A bell tolls somewhere and passengers start flowing out of the ship and onto the docks. As each of you turn to go with them a sailor stops you and asks, "Can you help me? The captain needs someone to make a delivery, but most of the crew have already left. He said he'll pay you."

Day 1, 3:00 PM

"Sure thing. What do you need where?"

It had been a roller coaster month for Dave it started at his birthday where his father announced that he would not be learning the family business like he expected, but that instead they were going to ship him off, and that he was going to live on his own as a pokemon trainer, or what ever he wanted to be, and when he was ready he could come back, and his father would teach him all of his secrets. dave didn't know what to think on one hand he was hoping since he was 10 that his parents would stop keeping him at home to care for mom's herb farm and let him explore the world, but the disappointment of not learning from his father was now too over whelming to be happy but he faked a smile any ways the rest of the month passed like a dream with him passing between the fun and excitement of being on him own and the sadness and uncertainty of feeling like his father rejected him. He knew it wasn't like that but he could not think of why his father decided to send him out on his own and it was eating him on the inside. he was pondering these things when the sailor tapped him on the shoulder.
"huh?... oh!... yeah as long as its on the level I'm up for making a few extra poke."

Blake nods at the man and says, "Happy to help... what's being delivered, and to where?"

"Sure, what do you need help with?" she says with a smile.

Chuck salutes, and says, "I am happy to oblige, captain. It is part of my duty to help citizens in need."

Collin, Dave, Blake, Chuck, and Mika
Each of you follow the sailor that approached you and you soon find yourselves outside the captain's quarters with the others. Before you can all introduce yourselves or scan each other's pokemon, the Captain enters the hallway. He whispers to one of the sailors, "Is this all you could find? Guess they'll do." He then turns to the small group of you and says with a smile, "Hey, thanks for coming. A few of my crew have taken sick and most others have disappeared into Game Lane, the Casino District. So I need some help delivering packages to the local Courier's Office. Yeah, it seems like they'd have someone to send here to collect them, but apparently not." He takes a better look at the five of you and then decides to drop the smile. "Look, here's the deal: You bring these packages, unopened, to the Courier's Office in the downtown area and I'll authorize payment of ^100 to each of you from my own account. And, to make sure you get there, here's a Dusk Island Map Card." He looks to one of the sailors and jerks his head. The sailor goes into the quarters and returns with 5 packages, each wrapped in brown paper. Each package weighs about 5 lbs and is about the size of a loaf of bread. You're each handed one, as well as a small cartridge that fits in your P-Gear. "If there are no questions, then a deal's a deal."

You follow the crowds out onto the docks. Most people tend to flock to any of the dozens of hotels, but there seems to be a group heading towards the marketplace. Where do you want to go from here?

Chuck replies, "Sure thing, captain. I will make sure it is delivered safe."

dave then pauses for a moment before leaving
"it would probably be bad to set a bunch of pokemon loose in the hallway so if any one wants to swap scans I'll be waiting down by the dock for a little bit before dropping this off"
he then leaves scanning anything he can find along the way

"Not a problem," Blake says as he slots the card into his P-Gear. "We'll make sure these get to the office." With that, he turns and follows Dave out, following the other trainer's lead and seeing what he can scan along the way.

Collin nods "It'll be done, cap'n. Unless there's something else, let's head out now."

"Don't know about you, but I'd prefer to get paid as soon as possible. I'll hang around by the docks after the job to scan anyone's pokemon they wish as well as get my own scanned in turn."

"have you seen the map its on the other side of town! I don't know about you but hiking back and forth for a few scans sounds more time consuming this will only take a sec. and its best if we travel as a group if your really worried"responds dave

when he gets off the ship dave releases his phanpy nosey and waits by the stairs for the others still scanning any mon he finds out in the open

"The walk will be good for you, but fine. If you don't like that, I'll loiter around outside the courier's office if you want to scan. Either way, I'm getting doing the job I'll be paid for BEFORE I loiter off on my own time."

"good point, come along nosey" says dave turning to follow

the little phanpy toots(trumpets?) with joy as it follows its master and the impatient human into the city

"my names dave by the way, dave smither" shouts dave as he tries to catch up "whats yours?"

"Name's Collin Brady. Sorry if I got off on the wrong foot with you. I was just raised to do my job first, play later. Mamma would have smacked me if I'd done anything else. Hope I can make this up to you soon."

Following along with the others, Blake listens to the discussion between the other two trainers before shrugging. "Well, I can't say it doesn't make sense to head there first, though I figured it would make sense to go as a group, and scan along the way." Blake tucks the package under his arm briefly before releasing Celeste, who quickly falls into line behind him. "Anyway, I'm Blake Denos. And this is Celeste," he says, motioning towards the Eevee. Scanning the Phanpy even as he continues moving, he says, "So, where're you guys from, if you don't mind my asking?"

"nice to meet you I'm Dave and I'm from kanto" says dave to blake then turning back to collin "how does spliting the cost for a camp site sound?" gesturing towards his purple tent bag strapped to his pack

Mika heads towards the Courier's Office with the group scanning the Phanpy and Eevee, Keahi happily follows her.

"Sounds fine with me. I was planning on sleeping under the stars no matter where I ended up. Sleeping under a roof has caused us to lose our connection to the Great Earth.

I hope you pardon me if I don't release Sybaris yet. She's a little temperamental and there would be no way I could contain her enthusiasm with all these new sights while we walk. I'll introduce you after we drop off the items and I can introduce her to the city more gradually."

dave acknowledges mika's presence with a friendly wave and scans her cyndaquil

as they reach the end of the port dave pulls up his map and asks everyone "so do we want to go through this 'board walk market' or around the south side?"

"Unless someone has a merchant phobia, I suggest we take the direct route. Just try not to be too distracted by the merchandise."

Delivery Group:
Apparently the Captain has a rule about having pokemon roam the ship while docked because there is nothing aboard the S.S. Caroline to scan. The five of you leave the ship and chat while you walk towards the Courier's office. You follow the docks northward towards the boardwalk Marketplace and closer to the city center. From the great height of the ship's deck the distance didn't seem to be too far, but while walking you come to respect the size of the city.

The Marketplace seems to be a place to trap tourists before they spend all their money elsewhere. The Map Card each of you were given is being sold for ^75 everywhere, and sometimes higher. But there is an economic logic to this madness, as there seems to be a lot foot traffic coming in from multiple angles. A glance at the map shows that you can follow the Market Place through the downtown core and reach the city center, or you could take the south easterly road and pass by the Day Care center and one of the Greenhouse Zones.

Still technically paused at 3:00 PM. I will try to manage the timelines as well as I can, but if it becomes exploited, I will become vindictive.

Collin will vote for walking straight through downtown. "I think we'll want to take a nice thorough tour of the city after the job."

dave looks closely at the orange block where the courier office is located I hope there is a path through "I don't have a merchant phobia my folks raised me to be thriftier than that" he recalls nosey so they don't get separated and starts making his way through the crowd

Blake glances around at the merchandise on sale here, before shrugging. "Sounds like a good idea... Definitely seems like there's quite a bit to see here." Quickly scanning the Cyndaquil, he addresses Dave, saying, "Kanto, huh? Never been there... I'm from Sinnoh, myself." Looking at the other two members of their group, he asks, "How about you guys?"

"I was born in Unova, but my conclave traveled a lot. Spent most of my time in Hoenn. I found Sybaris as an egg in the desert there when we were conducting meditations under voluntary deprivation. I was in Johto most recently on my quest to get in touch with the Great. Sorta wandered onto the boat because it felt... right."

Mika smiles and waves back at Dave "through the market sounds good to me as well"

"Interesting," Blake comments. "You're pretty well traveled, then... that's nice. Ever been here before?"

"Nope. I've been to a lot of places, sure, but there's a LOT more places to be seen."

Delivery Team:
You five decide to travel through the midday crowds of the market and along the riverside boardwalk. To your right you can see dozens of tall buildings and a myriad of walkways at ground level. But all around you are stands selling homemade jewelry a snack foods. A large man even offers massages, for pokemon only. To the left, you see a river devoid of life or obstruction. The water moves slowly towards the bay in almost complete darkness.

Ahead of you it's like someone cut the city in half. The open sky spans the entire river and far ahead you can see the Dusk Island Mall, much closer than before. At it's top, with screens angled slightly down, you can see a pokemon battle play out on repeat. There are captions and a running commentary from some unseen announcer. It's a fierce fight between what's labelled as an Arbok and a Seviper, but in the end the Arbok wins with a move labelled as Crunch. The quick bite is brutal and more commentary follows. They also announce that there'll be another match tomorrow in the Arena.

After another 20 minutes of walking and talking, you find yourselves in an open park beneath the Dusk Island Mall. People are everywhere, and a few pokemon seem to be roaming about as well. There's a small kid walking a pack of Rattata around the perimeter of the park; a full grown adult in a business suit with a Pichu sitting on his head as he reads a book; and a battle. The battle is pretty low level and so there's next to no one else watching them, but a Charmander and a Diglett were just tearing into each other.

Blake scans the Pokemon as he looks around, replying, "Yeah, with all the people that come through, there's quite a bit to see, it seems."

as they enter the commercial area dave starts keeping an eye out for help wanted signs especially around pokeball shops

Try as they might, no one else can see the Pidgey up above the lights. In fact, now that Dave looks for it again, it seems to have continued it's flight.

OOC: Important question, following road south or trying to cut through the district on the other side of the park?

Glancing at his map, Blake says, "Probably best if we stick to the road... that way we don't risk getting lost."

Chuck follows behind the group, lost in his thoughts, guiding Ponyta by its reins. The numerous beeps from the Pokedex activity wake him up. He decides to scan some too. "I am sorry." he says "I haven't properly introduced myself yet. My name is Chuck. I am a ranger from Unova region. This is Firemane."

Blake nods at Chuck, scanning the Ponyta as he goes, and looking out both for other Pokemon to scan and for the courier's office - don't want to miss it, after all.

Mika smiles and at Chuck and scans the Ponyta. She looks around the market taking note of any shops she might be interested in later.

The five of you look damn impressive surrounded by pokemon, flaming and otherwise. From the road you can't actually see any shops that would sell anything. In fact, most of the buildings seem to be condos, offices, and diners. Except for the Courier's Office, which is a round building surrounded by bike racks that sits between two skyscrapers. The five of you enter the front door and before you is an older, plump woman absently petting an Aipom. She says, "Welcome to the Dusk Island Courier's Office. How can I help you?"

"We're here on behalf of the captain of the ship that just docked to deliver a package." Donavon says, proffering the item in question.

[MintyNinja]

"Oh, you mean the S.S. Caroline? Wonderful! I'll take those packages," she says as she gestures to a drop box to your right. Once everyone has dropped off their packages she adds, "And here's ^100, the standard rate Captain Neil pays." Each of you are handed a small card with a black strip on one side and a smiling Meowth on the other. These cards are often used instead of cash because they can be reloaded and used like cash at most places. "Would you kids be able to do me a favor? We're a little short-staffed at the moment and we have some deliveries that need to be done today. We'll pay you ^150 each." Before you answer the Aipom has 6 packages stacked on the counter. Each of them has a serial number, but you can tell the only difference between numbers is the last digit. From 1-6, which number will you pick?

OOC: These numbers have pre-planned destinations and corresponding circumstances. First come first serve.

Chuck reaches for one, "I will take this one." Reaching for the one numbered six. "Where should I deliver this to, ma'am?"

[planswalker]

"Tell me where number 5 needs to go and I'll take it there." He scans the Aipom.

"By the way, before we leave, let's get together and scan each others pokemon. This is probably a good time to introduce you all to sybaris." Collin offers as he releases his trapinch.

Chuck:
The old lady checks a clipboard and says, "Number 6 is going to a Mechanic's shop in the Northern Industrial Zone. You can find it on the northeastern corner of the zone, by the greenhouses."

Collin:
Still looking at the clipboard she says to you, "That one has to go to the local gym. You can cut through the mall and head directly north. It'll be hard to miss."

[Leahn Novash]

"Sure thing, ma'am. I will be on my way, then." Chuck prepares to leave, then turns around and says, "Pleased to make your acquaintances. May we see each other around." Then he parts to his destination.

Blake scans the Aipom once he's relieved of his package, and scans Sybaris once the Trapinch is released. Scanning the six packages there, Blake says, "Hmm... well, I'll take number 3, then. Where's it needed?"

Waving at Chuck as the man heads out, he nods, saying, "Likewise."

Collin:
Still looking at the clipboard she says to you, "That one has to go to the local gym. You can cut through the mall and head directly north. It'll be hard to miss."

"Thank you ma'am. I will go immediately."

True to his word, Collin takes his package and departs at once, waving to his comrades as he goes. "If you want to split the cost of a campground with me, meet me back here in two hours."

Blake:
The old lady smiles at you and says, "Oh, that ones going to my old hangout, the Casino District. A special order for Goldstorm Casino, directly in the center of Game Lane. You could go through the Boardwalk Market and follow the road right there without having to backtrack.

Everyone:
When you leave the Courier's Office it is 4:10 PM.

OOC:
I'll be updating everyone's separate paths simultaneously now that we're on the same timeline. This means I'll have to wait for the other 2 to choose, but if they take too long I'll get you guys going.

Blake nods, saying, "Yeah, sounds like it shouldn't be too hard to find. Alright then... Celeste, let's go. It was nice meeting you guys!" He waves to the others in the group before taking the package and heading out and down around the loop, making his way towards the central path and keeping an eye out for any Pokemon to scan.

Blake will head along the loop to the west, making his way around(and through the boardwalk market) until he reaches the casino district.

She looks to you next and says, "The daycare. Just a quick 15 minute walk for someone as young as you. You should have no problem finding it."

Collin will take the direct route through the mall as she suggested, looking around to absorb the sights and sounds of this new city.

Dave tucks the package in his bag and takes the obvious route to the day care still scanning every-mon like a newbie trainer

Chuck:
Your route is fairly boring but the quiet feels peaceful after such a long trip. A few people stop and stare at Firemane while you walk, but no one approaches you. The streetlights do a great job keeping the darkened city lit, to the point that you could forget you're outside.

As you walk, however, you notice a scurrying sound in an alley. A moment of curiosity from Firemane and the alley is lit with her glow. Inside you see half a dozen small spiders fleeing the light. You're just able to scan one before they disappear into a grate of some sort. Slightly disturbed by the Spinarak, you continue along your way.

You reach the specified shop not too long after. A sign in the window says that they close at 5:00 PM, but according to your P-Gear it's 4:55 PM. You enter and man looks up from his desk to you and then to a clock on the wall. "Look mister, don't know if I can help you in 5 minutes, but-" He stops as he sees the delivery and a smile breaks across his face. "I'll be damned, c'mon in, kid." He offers you ^150 in cash for the package and before you go he adds, "Hey, you wanna battle? We can have a little wager if you want, not like I got anything here that needs to be done."

Collin:
Quick to get the job done and over with you briskly walk through the park, Sybaris close to your heels. You pass by several gardens and statues and even a small pond. A glance at the pond reveals a trio of Ducklett bathing themselves. They're easy enough to scan and after that you continue towards the towering mall ahead of you.

Now much closer than before, you can see that the river actually flows under it, through a myriad of supports and arches. The building reaches at least 50 storeys high and it seems to hum with electric power. The amount of lights decorating it make it almost painful to look at directly, even in this faux-midday light. Pressing through the doors you're greeted with a smile and breeze of recycled air. There's a pleasant, orange flavored smell to it. A large sign indicates that this is the Directory and Returns floor. You can see walls of elevators and stairwells leading up to the other floors. A particular set of red elevators seemed to be direct to the Pokecenter and back. All in all, it looked busy.

You exit out to the north park and see much of the same as the south version. All gardens, benches, and fountains. A battle between a Rattata and a Pichu is occuring off in the distance, but neither trainer seems particularily concerned.

You continue northward and eventually you find the Gym nestled between a large Arena and the local Trainer's Academy. Most of the streetlights here are dimmer, giving the Gym a shadowy appearance. Once inside a trainer speaks to you, "Hi, would you like to challenge the Dusk Island Gym, or-" she stops when she sees the package you're carrying and adds, "Oh! Perfect." She pays you ^150 in cash and takes the package. "Hey, it's been dead in here, wanna battle? You beat me and you can join the Gym."

5:05 PM

Blake & Dave:
You both leave the Courier's Office together, your Pokemon following briskly. Dave heading for the Daycare and Blake taking the circuitous route to the Casino District. Along the way you pass a hospital. Not a pokecenter, but an actual hospital for people. This is the cornerstone of the Residential District and you can see houses everywhere to the south of you.

You both continue walking, time slipping by. Twenty minutes in, you pass by the Daycare. A large house made of logs that is fenced off from the surrounding greenhouses. A little girl sits outside playing with a small puppy-like pokemon. You're dex feature tells you it's a Lillipup as Dave and Nosey split off from Blake and Celeste.

Dave:
You enter the house and are greeted by a smiling old man. "Welcome to the daycare, would you like to-" He stops as he sees the package and then types something into a computer and prints off a similar cash card to the one you were paid earlier. "There's ^150 for yeah. You have a nice day now." As you leave the little girl pipes up, "Hey mister, wanna battle? I got some money from doing chores."

4:30 PM

You leave Dave and Nosey behind and you contine you walking along the road northward. Soon you arive at the Boardwalk Market again and it's much the same as it was an hour and a half ago. People still offer strange services and items for pokemon. You could swear you see someone selling an amputated claw that speeds up your pokemon. Some people will buy anything.

Another half an hour and you find yourself in front of a gaudy casino, the Goldstorm. A neon yellow sign depicts a cloud raining drops made of coins. Inside a clerk welcomes you, "Hi there, do you have ID? The age limit-" He stops as you hand him the package and he smiles. "Nevermind. ^150, right?" He hands you the cash and before you go he adds, "You know, we've got an open slot if you wanted to battle. Give the gamers some excitement. Whaddaya say?"

Collin:

Something in the way that this fellow talks to him combined with what he's seen of this island as a whole just... clicks with him. Collin feels as if the Spirit of Earth is telling him that he is home at last. Perhaps this offer is the sign that he should begin to put down roots. "That sounds wonderful. How about a ^300 wager? I have to warn you: I only recently found my first pokemon, and she and I have had no time to seriously train. I don't guarantee will provide a good fight."

With that, Collin brings out Sybaris. The trapinch looks ever so slightly annoyed at Collin for being cooped up so long.

"Apologies, Lady Sybaris, but the captain had a rule pokemon roaming his deck, and the city as a whole would have been overwhelming. I've done nothing but almost continual running around, and I know you don't like that in strange cities. Remember Cinnabar Island?"

Turning back to the trainer, "Anyways, let's start this. Name's Collin, by the way, Collin Brady."

Sybaris looks at her rival as it emerges, eager to face this challenge and prevail. In her mind, there is no "if".

"I am sorry, sire, but I don't do wagers. It wouldn't do well to the Ranger's reputation if we went around battling for money. But my Ponyta here could use the exercise, yes." Chuck says.

Collin:
"That sounds perfect," she says as she leads you deeper into the building. You enter an open room with multiple circles on the ground. "The names Sarah. And don't worry, I'll make it an even match." Sybaris takes up her position at one end and the Gym trainer releases a purple cat at the other. Before Sybaris can even move, her opponent has raced halfway across the circle with a vicious growl in its throat.

You and Nosey backtrack to the Dusk Island Mall in search of a Pokecenter. The building reaches at least 50 storeys high and it seems to hum with electric power. The amount of lights decorating it make it almost painful to look at directly, even in this faux-midday light. Pressing through the doors you're greeted with a smile and breeze of recycled air. There's a pleasant, orange flavored smell to it. A large sign indicates that this is the Directory and Returns floor. You can see walls of elevators and stairwells leading up to the other floors. A particular set of red elevators seemed to be direct to the Pokecenter and back.

You take one of these elevators and soon find yourself in a red and white decorated place. There is an open spot at the counter and the Chansey hands you a tray with indentations meant for pokeballs. Once Nosey is taken away, you are told it'll be 15 minutes.

Blake hands over the package, and looks at Celeste, saying, "You up for it?" The Eevee yips approvingly, and Blake nods, turning back to the man. "Looks like you've got yourself a battle... a wager of 300 will do, I think. I'm assuming one Pokemon only, no trainer interference, no items that the Pokemon isn't carrying already?" he asks as he allows the man to lead him into the arena.

Celeste fights through twitching muscles and rams into the green pokemon. It flies out of the ring and nearly knocks it's own trainer over. In a single round Celeste won her match. "Nice going kid, here's the money as promised," the clerk says as the man named Wade runs off. "You know, if you want to cure it of Paralysis, you should head to the Pokecenter in the Mall." As you leave you notice a small group of people exchanging money they apparently bet on your match.

Celeste gains 120 XP. You have another ^300 in cash. Your dex identifies the Electrike you just fought.

It's 5:25 PM. You have no obligations and are free to enjoy your time.

Blake smiles, and pulls out Celeste's Pokeball. "Great job, Celeste... let's get you healed up, then." Recalling the paralyzed Pokemon, Blake then collects his winnings and makes his way to the mall, and the Pokemon Center within, keeping his eyes open for any new Pokemon to scan, and looking for any places where he might be able to pick up a decent first-aid kit.

From the windows of the Pokecenter Floor you can see dozens of small cafe's and diners surrounding the parks and interspersed among the condos and office buildings. Also you see a few people have sandwiches with the same logo and a polite question here and there tells you there's a food court 6 floors up.

Deciding to grab something while they're taking care of Celeste, Blake heads up to the food court and picks up a sandwich, bringing it back down to the Center.

This room had about half a dozen trainers in it, each of them training their pokemon. You scan them all and get Vullaby, Murkrow, Houndour, and Sandile added to your Dex. Sarah presents you with two pokeballs, "Either a Houndour bred by our in-house breeder, or a Sandile that was very recently caught." She indicates each with a gesture. "We don't normally present a choice, but some people really like a specific type, and I'm guessing yours is ground."

It's now 5:10 PM. Because you're a Gym Member, you are allowed to spend the night here, free.

You're very lucky you didn't kill the cat. It wouldn't have been good. If you had killed the Purrloin they'd have given you the weakest thing they could have. But you have now impressed them enough to let you join the Shadow Gym. The Houndour is stronger, but the Sandile is on your wishlist.

In the 15 minutes Dave has to wait for Nosey he finds the following information:
-North of the City, through the Guided Tunnels is a campground that charges ^150 a night.
-Further north is a Gondola station that brings tourists out over the island and up to the snowy peak and ski cabin.
-Apricorns can be found in the Mall for ^150 each or in the Boardwalk Market for ^100 each.
-Bitter Pokefood is sold in vending machines for ^5 a bite. (Feeding your pokemon isn't needed, this is strictly a RP thing)

Once Nosey is out Dave has just enough time to buy the food and walk back to the Courier's Office.

It is now 6:00 PM and you're starting to feel hungry.

Dave buys a bite of pokefood and feeds it to nosey who happily chews it "here is your reward girl good job" they then head back to the office. when he gets there he pulls out a jerky stick granola bar and an apple and has dinner as phanpy munches on some grass.

Soon Celeste is released back to you, looking as healthy as ever. The lights out the window seem to be getting dimmer, it looks like Dusk Island has it's own version of evening. You have nothing but time on your hands. What would you like to do?

Dave:
OOC: Plans still has an hour in-game to get back to the Courier's office, but his character doesn't really need to sleep outside anymore. It's possible some other players will take you up on the offer, but it's up to you whether or not you want to wait for them.

Taking Celeste's Pokeball back from the Center attendants, Blake takes a moment to scan the Chansey before deciding to head out along North Park Street, to see about finding a hotel for the night.

Heading north leads you right into a densely packed area filled with Hotels and tourists. But no matter how hard you try, the lowest rate you can find is ^750 a night. It comes with Dinner (but you already ate) and Breakfast (when you wake up). Asking around may net you a different result (CHA check. DC 16)

dave decides to wait till 6:30 whether or not anyone shows up he heads into the office and asks "are there any packages heading in the direction of the guided tunnels? I'm headed in that way for the night"

Sighing to himself, Blake decides to get a room in one of the less expensive hotels there. After dropping his things off, he slips his key in his pocket and decides to head into the park, to see if he can find a battle. As he leaves the hotel, he releases Celeste, and focuses on the Pokemon, trying to link himself with the Eevee.

Failing to reassert the connection you've shared with Celeste so many times in the past, you keep walking through the park. Soon a familiar figure emerges from the crowds as Dave and Nosey exit the Mall.

Dave:
You see nothing new in the South Park and continue along your way through the mall. Just as you exit via the north entrance, you recognize one of the others from that delivery. Blake and Celeste, the aspiring doctor and his Eevee.

Both:
You both meet in front of one of the gardens, Nosey and Celeste now quite comfortable with each other. As you talk and exchange news Nosey seems overly interested in the bushes of the garden. An excited squeal and two beings burst from the bushes, both looking agitated. One is a dark purple, floating pokemon and the other a bright red scorpion that looks very dangerous.

OOC: No attacks yet, but no surprise round either.

After accepting the sandile, Collin will trek across town to join up with the others. It seems that the Spirit of Earth has shown him a different lodging than the one he had thought to pursue. Perhaps this was for the best. Still, he said he would meet up with them at 6:00 and he will do his level best to make that appointment if at all possible.

first off, what's the xp from the fight? I get a 20% boost to xp for being an ace trainer but just give me the raw numbers, I have a specal formula on my sheet to calculate the 20% automatically.

Park Fight:
Dave's slingshot 'plinks' off the red scorpion's armor, hardly bothering it at all. What's much more effective is Blake's pokeball as it slams into the floating purple pokemon and absorbs it as it hits the ground. A held breath marks a moment of the ball shaking back and forth, but a 'click' signifies a catch. Unperturbed by the loss of it's ally, the scorpion bolts ahead and strikes at the closest creature: Nosey. The bite sinks in deeply, stunning the poor pokemon and doing 22 damage after defenses. Celeste follows her orders and charges in for a tackle and hits solidly.

Collin sends out both his trapinch and his sandile to get acquainted with one another. Sybaris instantly tries to dominate the lonely sandile.

"Now Syb, play nice. You don't want to be rude. Anyways, it looks like the group has already moved on. Perhaps I can catch up to them."

He will hurry to the guided entrance checkpoint hoping to catch up to the rest, recalling his 'mons to make sure they don't get lost in the bustle of the city.

Just as the battle wraps up, Collin arrives. The three of you are standing in the North Park and it is 7:10 PM still.

"Hey fellas. How did your errands go?"

Glancing up at the new voice, Blake smiles. "Well enough... had a quick battle at the casino after dropping off the package. Celeste acquitted herself quite well. Dave and I actually just ran into each other here, and then into a couple of wild Pokemon, so we've added to our rosters a bit. Let me introduce you to Varen." Blake releases the ghost, smiling. "How about you... you were delivering to the gym, right? I'm guessing that went well?"

"easy enough nosey here knocked a lillipup across a street in a trainer battle, we just caught rampaging wilds one of which was shiny, and I found a camp site if your still interested. also I realized we never exchanged numbers" gives Blake and Collin his p-gear number "I can't believe we didn't think of that earlier" dave stoops down to get a closer look at nosey's bite "don't worry girl we'll get that looked at right away" dave recalls nosey "i'd show off biter but i'm afraid he will still have a bit of fight left in him Skorupi can be like that"

"Very well. After the delivery, one of the recruiters I guess challenged me to a match. I managed to impress them in the fight and they've made me a member of the gym. They also gave me Ganga here upon joining the gym."

He pulls out his sandile. She hides behind his leg and looks shyly at the strangers.

"I apologize for missing the rendezvous at the delivery center. I got caught up in the crowds. I know that I talked about splitting the cost of a campsite for lodging, but the Earth Spirit sent me a sign when I joined the gym. I feel that I am meant to be there. They offer me free lodging. Now, I'm a man of my word, so if you would like, I'll pay a fair share of the site for tonight, but I will be sleeping at the gym. Still, I would count you my friends if you would have me. Perhaps we should exchange information so we can contact each other on the c-gear if we find any good opportunities?"

"Sybaris sustained only one minor injury in the fight and I planned on letting her sleep it off. She gets in such a huff if she gets help from strangers when she doesn't need it."

Chuckling, Blake replies, "Given that they charge ^750 a night, I doubt it. Though meeting for breakfast might not be a good idea. Maybe you can show us around the gym, Collin." Thinking for a moment, he says, "Actually... if you're up for it, Collin, we could have a quick battle while Dave runs to the Center."

Chuckling, Blake nods, keeping his wounded Eevee cradled in his arms as he walks. "Yeah. Though Varen was pretty poorly matched regardless..."

Collin and Blake:
You two make your way to the Pokecenter and the Chansey indicates that it will be 20 minutes for your 4 pokemon to be healthy again. While you're waiting Dave comes and collects his pokemon and continues along his way with a wave. Is there anything you want to do while you wait?

"Yeah, both of mine had a massive advantage against him offensively. Still, that's a very nice 'mon you have there. I suspect a lot of other trainers would have trouble even hurting it at our level of experience. However, the local gym is focused on dark types, so I'd caution against using him there."

While he waits, Collin will scan the chansey, eat one of his rations he has with him and will off one to Blake. He's content to pass the time eating and chatting.

Nodding, Blake says, "I'll keep that in mind. But really, I'm more interested in one specific move it has. Normally, it transfers some of its own injuries to an opponent. But I don't think there's any reason it couldn't work in reverse, taking on another's pain to ease the suffering of others. Even if Varen wouldn't do it himself, I can borrow his power and use the ability once he learns to do so."

As Collin offers the rations, Blake shakes his head, saying, "Thanks, but I ate earlier. Oh, if we're going to meet for breakfast, we could meet at my hotel."

"Sounds fine to me. Afterwords, let's head to the gym so you can meet the people there. From what I've met, they're great folks."

Nodding, Blake replies, "Sounds like a plan. If it's a Dark-type gym, maybe they'll be able to give me a bit of advice for working with Celeste... I plan on evolving her into an Umbreon when I have the chance." Blake types out a quick message to Dave on his P-Gear, mentioning that they can meet at the hotel for breakfast at 8 AM, and providing the location.

"I have to say, I am somewhat jealous that you've already captured another 'mon. Ganga is awesome and I dearly love her addition to my team, but there's a thrill of catching it yourself that just isn't there when you are given the 'mon."

Blake smiles, and answers, "Really, it was a lucky throw. Hadn't even hit him at all, just chucked the ball at him and got him."

"I wouldn't discount it, though. It's a calculated risk to throw a ball before it's even injured."

Collin and Blake:
A bell rings at the counter and Chansey waves to the two of you. Apparently your Pokemon are healed. A glance at your P-gear and you confirm that it's now 7:35 PM. Where too from here, guys?

"Yeah, it is a risk... still a lucky throw, though." Blake replies.

Retrieving his Pokemon, Blake nods at Collin. "Well... I'm heading back to the hotel. I'll see you in the morning?"

"See you then. I'm gonna go shopping. I doubled my money today. If I don't find something worth saving up for, I'll be burning a hole in my pocket."

True to his word, Collin heads to the mall and shops around, keeping an eye out for any interesting ground-type TM's or any sort of pokemon for sale.

Splitting off from Collin, Blake makes his way back to the casino, deciding to try his luck at the slots there and see if he can't recoup some of what he lost today.

Over the course of the next hour you watch the meteoric rise of a Joltik as it fights it's way through a Machop, Pawniard, Mankey, and even a Beedrill. You start walking home at 10:00 PM and you notice that the lights have dimmed even more, now with a faintly blue tinge to them. You walk the emptying streets with Celeste following along. Occasionally she stops to stare at the stars so high above. You reach your hotel by 10:30 PM and go straight to your room. You pass out almost immediately, exhausted by the day of walking.

And you'll wake up when everyone else has finished their days.

Collin:
You buy the man's Magikarp and he looks surprised as hell when you do. On a hunch you turn around and notice a kid just hanging around, looking at items on shelves. Nothing too suspicious. After you pay the man collects the kid and they both disappear.

Congrats, you now own a Level 10, Docile Natured (+hp -def), Female Magikarp with the Torrent Ability.

It's now 7:50 PM.

As his harem of female 'mons grows by yet another, Collin will dub her "Isonade". He knows that someday soon, ALL will tremble in fear at her power!

Satisfied that he's burned enough of his money for the night, he goes back to the gym and sleeps for the night.

It's a half hour walk to the Gym and once you get there you are let in. Someone leads you to a hallway of small rooms with sliding doors. It reminds you of your quarters on the S.S. Caroline: small, but enough space to rest and relax. There's a large communal bathroom at either end of the hall for each sex. All in all, not a bad setup. You don't see any other trainers before you go to bed at 8:30 PM.

And you'll wake up when everyone else has finished their days.

The old lady looks at your outfit with a smirk and says, "To the mall, dear. Maybe buy yourself something while you're there."

You and Keahi leave last and end up walking alone. You retrace your steps to the park and from there continue towads the Dusk Island Mall. Along the way you notice a single Ducklett swimming in a pond lazily. Ahead of you the mall towers 50 storeys into the sky. It's lit up so bright that you can't seem to look directly at it from so close.

Inside the mall you're greeted with a smile and breeze of recycled air. There's a pleasant, orange flavored smell to it. A large sign indicates that this is the Directory and Returns floor. You can see walls of elevators and stairwells leading up to the other floors. A particular set of red elevators seemed to be direct to the Pokecenter and back.

Finding a nearby assistant, you deliver your letter. She turns to you and says, "Oh, thank you. I believe ^150 was the price, right? Here you go, don't spend it all in one place." She hands you the cash and dismisses you with a polite wave. As you turn to leave a passing security guard says, "Hi, I just got off shift and I saw your Cyndaquil. Wanna battle? Could make some spending money."

"I guess this little girl needs some patching. I will just go to the Pokecenter for some treatment." Chuck gives Firemane a berry. "Have a treat, my friend." Then he walks to the Pokecenter.

It's quite a walk but eventually you and Firemane reach the North Park. Ahead of you the mall towers 50 storeys into the sky. It's lit up so bright that you can't seem to look directly at it from so close.

But seeing that Firemane isn't to be kept in a pokeball the Chansey scowls at you and presses a button on the counter. A panel opens up and she beckons the Ponyta in through a door. She points you at a sign that signifies it'll be a 15 minute wait.

It's now 6:30 PM and you're feeling hungry. What will you do now?

Chuck feels hungry, but he decides that the hunger can wait 15 minutes until Firemane is all patched up.

Soon enough Firemane is lead through the door again and you can tell she's feeling better.

It's 6:45 PM. You're still hungry. You have no obligations to be anywhere.

Chuck decides to walk around the city, and see if he can find any cheap place to sleep.

You and Firemane walk west, through the Boardwalk Market and the crowds inherently there and reach Beach Street. To your left is a pristine beach lit up with lights and a few determined people sitting on towels. On your right is a series of hotels, each offering the same price for one person: ^750 a night. This includes dinner and breakfast, which reminds you that you're starving.

It's now 7:25 PM you are very hungry.

Dave:
The guard accepts your money and leads you through a well lit tunnel and down a pathway leading north. Soon you take a turn to the right and a large lot of land has been sectioned off for campers and tents of all kinds. He leads you to an empty lot and bids you goodnight from there. After the guard leaves, while you're setting up your tent, you hear a rustling in the bushes. After a minute a small brown and green-spotted mushroom comes out of hiding.

The mushroom doesn't seem to trust you and makes no move towards the food. While you wait for it to act, your pokedex function beeps and informs you you're looking at a Shroomish. Along with it's listed information, it explains that it doesn't eat plants and instead absorbs sunlight.

It's 8:50 PM right now. (Miscalculation earlier means you reached the guard station at 8:30 instead of 8:00.)

You will wake up around 5:00 AM. Until then, we'll have to wait for the others to finish up their days.

Chuck decides that it is better to meet his needs. He goes to the first hotel he sees with a room available, and turns in for the night.

You pay up and are lead to a decent room on the second floor. The hotel staff is a little skittish around Firemane, but no one approaches you about it. A meal is brought up after you order and it finally satisfies that hunger. By the time you turn in for the night, it's 8:00 PM and Firemane is curled up on the floor, her flames dim.

Mika decides to take the guard's advice and heads to the Gym. Keahi walked beside her seeming very proud of himself. Mika smiles patting him on the head.

Mika:
You and Keahi go through the mall and north through the park. As you follow the guard's directions you eventually find the Gym nestled between a large Arena and the local Trainer's Academy. Most of the streetlights here are dimmer, giving the Gym a shadowy appearance. Once inside you see two trainers talking behind a desk. The girl looks up at you and asks "Are you here to challenge the gym? Or were you looking to join up?"

"I'd like to join." Mika replies having had an interest in dark pokemon since she was young, since it's the one type of pokemon her mother doesn't breed.

"Well look at our luck," she says to her friend. She turns back to you and says, "Well I can't battle you, some guy knocked the hell out of my Purrloin, but Fred here can initiate you." The other trainer nods in acknowledgment and leads you into another room. "One on One battle, no items that aren't already held, no trainer interference." After he states the rules he releases a small grey dog at the other end of the ring.

Keahi's attack strikes true through smoke and the grey dog collapses under the pain. Your Pokedex beeps with information on the Poochyena you just beat as Fred recalls him. "Close fight. Not many would keep their pokemon fighting after taking that much damage." He leads you into another room that had around five trainers busy training their pokemon. You are able to scan Vullaby, Murkrow, Houndour and Sandile before Fred offers you a pokeball. "All gym trainers need one Dark type pokemon to properly represent the gym. Our in house breeder is on a dog kick lately so we have a bit of a surplus here. This Houndour should complement your Cyndaquil quite well. Our breeder bolstered it's defensive capabilities a bit and made up for it's Modest nature."

Mika:
You add a Purrloin to your growing Pokedex. It takes you a while to get to the Mall because of unexpectedly heavy foot traffic. Eventually you fight through the crowds and reach the Pokecenter at 6:35 PM. The Chansey indicates that you'll have to wait 20 minutes to get all of the pokemon healed up. Coincidentally, you realize how hungry you are and that although Fred you can sleep at the Gym for free, he said nothing of meals.

Mika sits patiently in the poke Center waiting for the pokemon to be healed. She scans the Chansey then picks up a magazine to read.

After a while the Chansey gets your attention and hands you back the four pokeballs.

It's 6:55 PM and you are hungry. You need to return the others' pokemon soon.

Mika heads back to the Gym to drop off the other 2 pokemon before heading to the hotel district to find something to eat. After eating, she decides to take her Cyndaquil and Hondour out for a walk, giving them a chance to get to know one another. She goes back to the gym and claims an empty room for her own and goes to sleep at 9:00 PM.

Your room in the gym reminds you of your room aboard the S.S. Caroline: small, but enough space to rest and relax. There's a large communal bathroom at either end of the hall for each sex. All in all, it's comfortable. You don't see any other trainers or pokemon before you go to bed at 9:00 PM.

daves alarm goes off at 5:00 AM after turning it off he pokes his head out side before sunrise just like back home he thinks to himself.

after getting dressed he steps out of his tent and releases his pokemon "Rise and shine every body we have a big day ahead of us!"he says as the three materialize "so introductions nosey, biter this is peach. peach this is nosey and biter. You three stretch and take care of your business while I pack up, and don't wander too far off." biter looks disinterested at the new mon and scuttles off to investigate a bush. nosey on the other hand picks up the little shroom, sets it on her back, and proceeds to playfully run around the plot as if giving peach a ride.

when dave is finished packing up the tent he notices biter looks very satisfied "what ever you ate I just hope it didn't belong to some one" he jokes to the bug "alright everyone lets head into town" dave swings his bag over the shoulder and starts hiking to the city with his pokemon in tow.

OOC: will there be time to hit the mall or the market before breakfast at the hotel?

Blake wakes up at 7:00 AM to the alarm on his P-Gear, and stretches briefly, yawning. Taking a moment to check the time, he nods to himself, showering and getting ready for the day before heading down to the lobby at 7:50 to meet Dave and Collin.

Dave:
As you trek back towards the city with your pokemon following you you start to realize how quiet the morning really is. You enter the tunnel just as the sky begins it's predawn lightening. A new guard lets you through the checkpoint with a wave and you find yourself in the shadowed city once again. The street lights that seem omnipresent are glowing at less than full capacity, in respect to the slumber of others. A glance at your P-Gear and a quick study of the map and you believe you can get to the Mall and do your shopping and get back to the Hotel in time for breakfast.

Blake:
In the lobby you see the entrance to a small diner, which apparently opened at 7. You sit and wait patiently for your friends to show up.

dave still keeping an eye out for new mon to scan swings by the mall and picks up 2 basic balls before heading for the hotel

if/when he sees collin or blake he points at peach and says "look what I found wandering around camp last night"

Dave:
You reach Blake's hotel a little later than you expected, but still early. It's 7:55 PM when you walk in.

Blake:
A few minutes of waiting and then Dave marches in with his pokemon following him closely.

Both:
You're able to chat freely.

Blake nods to Dave as the other trainer walks into the lobby, and blinks upon seeing the Pokemon behind him. "Nice... I see you've expanded your roster again since last night." Quickly scanning the Pokemon, he says, "Shroomish, huh? Very nice... very nice. It'll be useful against ground types, not to mention it's got some useful moves for taking down a target without really hurting them." Blake glances towards the door, noting, "Collin should be here shortly..."

"so what are your plans for today? I was planning on hitting the courier office maybe wager on a battle. If I'm lucky I should have enough to buy a pokeball repair kit in a few days to generate a more stable income"

[BluesEclipse]

Shrugging, Blake answers, "Actually, I was going to see if Collin wouldn't mind showing us around that gym. See what's going on there. Beyond that, I know they have battles at the Goldstorm, I may stop by there for a bit. I did manage to turn a profit on the slots last night, so maybe I'll get lucky again." Thinking for a moment, he says, "Maybe I'll check in with that hospital we saw, see if there's anything I might be able to help out with. I'm studying medicine, after all, so they may have some stuff I can help out with - and I may learn something in the process. Still, we'll see what happens once Collin gets here - he may have some other plans."

Being used to getting up at dawn, Collin rouses at sunrise.

He'll head over to the hotel where he's scheduled to meet up for breakfast. Since he's quite early, he takes the long way there which includes a quick jog through the park. He releases Sybaris and Ganga to join him on his walk. Sybaris tries to pretend she's still Collin's only pokemon while Ganga is content just to be walking with the rest of the pack. Seeing as how she'd be a fish out of water in this, Collin does not bring Isonade out.

Collin:
Before you leave the gym, one of the trainers stops you and asks, "Are you gonna be at the arena today? Joan's been challenged and there's a high wager. It promises to be interesting. Just drop by the Arena around 9:00 AM." During your early morning jog you come across hardly a living soul, just a few graveyard shifts heading home. You reach Blake's hotel by 8:00 AM exactly.

The Breakfast Club:
Once Collin arrives you all take a table inside the diner. Your waiter is polite, if not a little sleepy, and you're able to enjoy company while you eat.

Blake, this meal gets charged to the hotel. No need to buy anything. Dave and Collin, you would need to buy something (^50) or eat a ration, which the waiter doesn't mind this early.

Collin plans to take advantage of this opportunity to eat something besides trail rations and orders a spinach and mushroom cheese omlette with a blueberry muffin on the side. He asks for a glass of milk and an orange to accompany this breakfast.

"Before I left the gym, I heard that someone will be challenging the leader at 9. Think it'll be worth checking out? I figure it could give us some idea what sort of strategies the gym leader uses and will likely include quite a few new pokemon for us to scan."

[BluesEclipse]

"Is that so?" Blake muses, curious. "It should be quite the event... I'm all for checking it out. Afterwards, maybe you'd be willing to show us this gym?"

[planswalker]

"Sure thing. They seem to have a very good breeding program there for dark-types. The folks there that I've met have also been real friendly. "

[Leahn Novash]

Chuck gets out of bed at 6:30 AM. He proceeds to eat breakfast on the hotel, feed Firemane, and then tells the Pokemon, "Let's get you some exercise and fresh air. We need your legs to be strong so you can run like the wind. Let's find an open area and run a little." He asks the hotel clerk where he could find a suitable area for such exercise nearby.

Chuck:
The clerk looks at the two of you and smiles broadly, "Of course. You could take a run along the beach, just be mindful of others. This is the one time a day we get real sunlight so it's pretty busy down there." He thinks for a second more before adding, "And if you're lucky, you could go to the Arena and run laps. You'll just have to pack it in before the event today. At 9:00 AM there's to be a battle. I've got money of Joan!"

It's about 6:50 AM. You're getting used to the city and thus can tell that it would take you only 45 minutes to reach the Arena or 15 minutes to reach the Beach.

dave orders bacon and eggs(-^50). As he eats he slips one of the bacon strips to biter who scarfs it.

"seeing the battle sounds good between that and the gym tour I might be able to hit 25 mon seen in my dex today. so what does being a gym member entail any way? I'd assume they would want something from you in exchange for a place to sleep"

[planswalker]

"Well, one of them challenged me to a duel and when I won, they offered me membership for free. Came with a new dark-type pokemon and a free place to stay. Not the fanciest place by far, but it sleeps."

[BluesEclipse]

"That would be where you picked up your Sandile, then," Blake remarks over his waffles. "It seems like it would be quite a challenge for me... Neither Varen nor Celeste are really ideal for facing Dark-types... still, could be worth trying out after this match you mentioned. Did you learn anything about the challenger, by chance?"

"well biter here knows some dark moves so maybe I should try to apply it would be one less bill to worry about"

"That would be where you picked up your Sandile, then," Blake remarks over his waffles. "It seems like it would be quite a challenge for me... "Yeah, you'll want to pick up someone who can take a hit or two before challenging. I found that the guy I faced hit pretty hard. His 'mon didn't know any dark moves, though. Probably not something you can count on. I suspect most of them do.

Didn't hear anything about the challenger other than that he's a he and he'll be challenging the gym leader."

Mika wakes up at 5:00 and gets ready for the day, lets out her new pokemon and names it Solara. She heads to the market to find some breakfast with Keahi and Solara at her side. She enjoys the crisp morning air on her way.

Mika:
As you leave the gym a new trainer at the front desk tells you, "Don't forget, there's a battle in the Arena today at 9:00 AM. Joan's been challenged, and apparently it's a big wager. You should check it out." You don't notice any pokemon this early, but once you reach the Market you're amazed to find such a large crowd. You're just in time to witness the beautiful sunrise as Dusk Island City gets its minuscule sunlight for the day.

It's 6:50 AM and you've just had breakfast.

Chuck:
It's about 6:50 AM. You're getting used to the city and thus can tell that it would take you only 45 minutes to reach the Arena or 15 minutes to reach the Beach.

"Let's go to the beach. Running in the sand will be good for you." Turning to the clerk, he thanks him.

"Yep." Once they are done with breakfast, Collin will lead the three of them back to the gym to see the fight.

Chuck:
You take a quick walk to the beach and find yourself an unused stretch of sand. Firemane begins running back and forth as fast as she can, over and over again. While you watch her you notice that the beach has become more and more crowded, to the point where your track of open sand is the only open area left. However, soon people start leaving. You can see that a lot of them are traveling in groups, and most of those groups are loudly discussing the fight at the Arena. Firemane trots back to you, done with her exercises.

It's 7:15 AM. If you were to go to the Arena it'd be no problem to walk with the crowds and make it on time.

Collin, Blake, Dave:
Once everyone has finished their breakfast and paid up, Collin leads you back to the Gym. Once he enters he finds the same trainer as before behind the front desk. Once someone asks about the fight he laughs and responds, "Guys, that's at the Arena, the giant stadium next door. We wouldn't be able to hold that much of an audience."

It's 8:45 AM. You guys are still going to the Arena, right? And Planswalker, your dialogue color is DimGray, stop stealing Chuck's voice.:smalltongue:

dave just chuckles to himself and recalls his pokemon cause the crowd is beginning to get a little thick. "lets go see the fight I doubt they are taking applications when they would rather be else where" dave holds the door open for the others

I've got ANOTHER pta character in a different game that speaks in blue. I've more than once gotten them mixed up and had to edit in the correct name.


taking an enforced 1 week hiatus from posting in this one didn't help me keep up with which character spoke in which color. Maybe if that hiatus had only been the 1 or 2 days I had been promised...

"Well, let's get a going."

He heads over to the Arena with his new friends.

As you approach the entrance of the Arena, you glance upwards and notice a strange looking creature hanging off the side of the building. You instinctively scan the Zubat but it flies off before you are able to tell anyone else about it.

Dave:
You step in what looks to be bat droppings. But you do notice that some people who obviously have pokeballs are not letting their pokemon out. It makes more sense when you think about it: What if someone's pokemon affected the match? Like a ground type in the stands absorbing an electric attack meant for the opponents.

The Three Amigos:
The three of you all enter by the same entrance and just as you're looking for seats, someone waves Collin over. As you get closer, Collin recognizes Sarah from the gym. "Hey, Collin! We've got front row seats. Gym trainers get little perks like this whenever Joan fights." She gestures to the other dozen people in the two rows. "So, who're your friends?"

Like I said in the OOC, I'm waiting for the other players to indicate whether or not they want to go to the Arena before I continue. Feel free to chat with the Gym trainers and maybe learn a little more about the organization you joined/want to join.

It's 7:15 AM. If you were to go to the Arena it'd be no problem to walk with the crowds and make it on time.

"I might as well follow the crowd. Maybe we will have fun. Let's check this Arena out." Chuck folows along with the crowd.

You lead Firemane through the streets with the sway of the crowds and reach the Arena. Before you're allowed in you're asked firmly to sign an agreement that should Firemane interfere in the match, you'd be held responsible. It's a formality, really, and they let you in after that. While looking for a seat you see a few of the guys from the Courier's Office and notice they have some extra seats. You lead Firemane down to their section and join them.
