View Full Version : Advice for a Paladin/Synthesist gestalt build?

So, my group is starting a new campaign with gestalt characters (3rd lvl, 3k gold), and I've decided to play a Paladin/Synthesist. I've read many comments about how great they are, I'm guessing because of some kind of multi-armed Smite fusion, but I have not seen any sample builds. So I would really appreciate any advice. Here's what I have so far.

Human Paladin/Synthesist, starting at 3rd with 3k gold to buy gear.
Starting stats (rolled)
STR 14
DEX 15
CON 15
INT 17
WIS 17
CHA 20 (18 +2 for being human)

I'm trying to decide what to focus on, and what type of eidolon evolutions to work towards. We're starting at 3rd level, but I want to plan out what would be best for the future. The way I see it, my options are to focus my evolution points on boosting Str, Dex, AC & maybe a bit left over for play, or to go for some Kali-esque multi-limbed whirling ginsu of Smite beatdown, focusing on multiple limbs, the Multiweapon Fighting feat, and a load of short swords.

For feats, I'm planning at least Power Attack & Cleave. I'm not sure about Spell Focus (Conj) & Augment Summoning, as that would only help if I used a summoning spell on my eidolon, and I'm not sure how many other critters I'd be summoning. Multiweapon Fighting is a given, if I go the multi-limb route. Then again, Craft Wondrous Item, or Craft Wand, might be handy...

Here's a rough workup of fused stats from Eidolon fusion only, not counting player leveling or items, out to level 10.

I could focus on Str, Dex & AC, with a few free points from level 8 on, or an extra pair of arms at 4th, and hold off the 2nd Dex increase until 9th lvl, which would give me four arms to use for Multiweapon Fighting.

Or is there some other idea behind the Paladin/Synthesist that I'm missing?
