Help Finding SciFi Short Story

I am trying to find a short story I read many years ago.

IIRC aliens land on modern day earth and first introduce some kind of amazingly delicious food for sale.

Then they bring in a kind of magic phone booth that you can pay to enter and magically zap away all the extra weight you gained eating the alien food.

In a very short period of time the entire human race has given up doing anything but spending all their resources on these two things and are thereby enslaved.

Ah, I remember reading this in eighth grade—one of my favorites. It's called "Lose Now, Pay Later" by Carol Farley.
