Hey,
Do you have to know a spell to use it to craft an item?
I think I'm going to play an Artificer and in that case I need an arcane class before and then multiclass, right?

Artificers and Warlocks (IIRC) don't, they can use UMD instead. All other crafters do I'm pretty sure.

It's possible to collaborate with a spellcaster when creating a magic item. So while you don't need to know the spell, you'll need to pay a wizard or something to cast it for you while you are crafting.
