Falconer Ranger (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/ranger/archetypes/paizo---ranger-archetypes/falconer) with a Roc Companion (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/animal-companions#TOC-Roc) rather than a "Falcon" (Bird Companion (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/animal-companions#bird-eagle-hawk-owl))
Bad Idea? Too Powerful?

It kind of goes against the idea of a "Falconer". Training a Bird as big, or larger, than yourself to land on your arm is just asking for trouble...
Plus the Archetype specifically calls out you must take a "Bird Companion" (yeah, yeah, Rocs are a 'type of' bird but you know what I mean).
Maybe if you took a level of Druid to make it less illegitimate...

Falconer sucks. Just be a normal ranger and get a Roc. It says right in the Roc's entry rangers can get them as companions.

And most DMs would probably just let the ranger pick any companion choice anyway. You know, like Sorcerors, Oracles, and Clerics, those masters of the outdoors, can.

EDIT: To answer your question, the only thing in your OP that's a bad idea is being a Falconer.

Maybe a refluff then, to be Roc Riders or something, taking a clue or two from the Horse Lord.

I'm just working on an old build (The Companion, Mount and Familiar one, I think you had shared a bit on it actually) and to make it the most effective I need druid, but I want Ranger for the full Bab but I also want a full companion. a new suggestion was to use the 3.5 Wild Cohort feat (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/re/20031118a) but that's a bit far of Pathfinder and I dislike cheating.

I'm just trying to get a Full-Level Roc is all.
Boon Companion is going to make up for 4 levels of Cavalier to help me get a Full-Level mount.

For refluffing I'd do a combination of Falconer (Bird at level 1), and Sable Company Marine (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/ranger/archetypes/paizo---ranger-archetypes/sable-company-marine) ("special" mount by trading in a Favored Terrain)

I thought Horse Lord because it doesn't get full progression until level 12, but avoids the awkward "Half-Hit Point" stage.

Maybe like a combination.
Get it at Level 1 with the Sable Marine bonuses (the +2 to ride, and the +2 vs. Fear) with the half hit points (I guess its relevant),
improves at 4th,
get the roam, distract and swooping charge tricks,
must pick the mounted fighting style.
strong bond at 12 full level (plus boon companion)
and spiritual bond at level 17.

Just wait until you have the whole party on its back, and then your mount gets Paralyzed.
Roc falls, everybody dies.

Oh....so close...

But what we were REALLY looking for was:
