Optimizing a Psion way into epics

In a campaign I'm in, I have to level my Psion from 21 to 40. The dm loves his games to be as over the top as possible, and it's been going on for two years. I'm basically looking for the most powerful option without losing any manifester levels. I can afford to lose four due to practiced manifester. Have at it Playground!

1. Get Persistent Power (it appears in the 3.0 psionics handbook and also here (http://www.wizards.com/d20/files/msrd/ArcanaOccupationsandFeats.rtf)), and use it with Timeless Body (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/timelessBody.htm). You are now technically immune to everything that exists in the entire game, including the abilities of deities. Completely over-the-top, but not as useful as Astral Projection.

2. Use the save-game trick (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=146470). Over-the-top in a silly way.

3. Get Metamind (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/prestigeClasses/metamind.htm) 10, take Affinity Field (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/affinityField.htm), Synchronicity (RoD, CP), Psicrystal Affinity, and either Quicken Power or Twin Power. Manifest Affinity Field centered on your psicrystal instead of yourself, replacing yourself in the power's effect with your psicrystal. Manifest a Quickened Synchronicity, share it with your psicrystal. The affinity field loops an extra instance of that back onto yourself (and anyone else in the field). You now have two standard actions. Spend one to activate Font of Power, and the other to manifest Synchronicity, sharing it with your psicrystal and gaining a second one yourself. You now have two standard actions and infinite power points. Manifest any power you want, and manifest Sychronicity again. Take infinite actions and manifest an infinite number of powers in the first round of combat until nothing is left. It helps if you use Psionic Moment of Prescience to guarantee that you win initiative. Completely over-the-top infinite actions shenanigans.

4. Epic Spellcasting/Manifesting shenanigans, I'm not even going to bother. Even more over-the-top than any of the above.

Unfortunately, nothing as broken as epic spellcasting exists for you, AFAIK.

Metamind is hilarious. For raw power, you might be best off going with Wizard 3/Cerebremancer 10. Then Legacy Champion 10. You'd get 18th level wizard casting, and 35th level manifesting. Your 39th level feat can be spent on Epic Spellcasting. Welcome to the party. Use all the Psion action economy manipulations in order to cast more and more wizard spells.


EDIT: Nevermind like half this post, Epic Manifesting does exist. But hell, you can get both. Why the hell not?

Congratulations I am now thoroughly convinced that in Epic Psions are better then Gods and have inspired a campaign for my players :smallamused:

It pretty clearly would:


Any psionic target—regardless of any protection it may possess—disintegrates in a terrific explosion. Nothing is left but floating dust.

But that ability is still a joke. 1/year, 10 round casting time, a massive lightshow to let everyone around know what you're up to, and only works within 100ft - any psion who could be taken out by an attack that limited deserves it.

However, it can take out other artifacts and gods, so long as they're psionic - so that's something, I guess.

Instead of 10 levels of metamind try using Metamorphosis to turn into an illithid and take three levels of illithid savant. Use that to grab Font of Power.

You only lose 3 manifester levels instead of 5!

[edit] I took Dreamscarred Press's society mind and gestalted it with illithid savant, and used the PrC to eat a spell-to-power erudite's StP ability, and another erudite's ability to learn powers (which doesn't include unique powers per day). I followed that up with the metamind's Font of Power.

I then took the Magic Mantle via the feats in CPsi, so I could take the Extra Spell feat for non-arcane stuff.

Infinite stamina and every spell and power in the whole game? Yes!

Also, feel free to Gate in some high-level critters, then use Fusion and Astral Seed (followed by suicide) to gain tons of epic-level monster abilities. Try pulling in a baby prismatic dragon that you've used Bestow Curse on to turn it into a great wyrm which you then Fusion with. And you can do this all with a couple of high-level (and cheap) power stones, too!

Well, I think there is a limit on the number of brains you can meaningfully munch! :smalltongue:

Take a decent prestige class, they all lose some manifesting.

Exceptions: Anarchic Initiate, Subverted Psion, and a handful of dips e.g. Elocater and Shadowmind.

EDIT: It's also possible to cheat one's way into some theurges through feats only, e.g. Anima Psion and Soul Manifester.
