Hey guys, maybe someone can help me out a little here. I've played in a lot of l5r games before (2nd & 3rd ed) and I'm trying to organize a 1st ed l5r game but I'm a little fuzzy on the initiative rules. I get most of it, I just have 1 problem with the 1st to declare last to act concept. What happens if my action comes up and is no longer valid?

ex: 2 vs 2 skirmish, characters 1&2 vs characters a&b.

initiative order 1=8, a=7, 2=6, b=5

player "b" declares full defense
player "2" declare standard attack vs "a"
player "a" declares standard attack vs "2"
player "1" declares full attack vs "a"

Player "1" successfully attacks and kills player "a". What now happens to Player "2" action? Is it lost or can he change his action? If he changes his action is there a penalty for doing so?

I think your question is more likely to get an answer in the Gaming\Older D&D/AD&D and Other Systems forum rather than here.

In answer to your question, I've only played 2nd Ed briefly a long time ago, but I believe in that version, player 2 gets to re-declare his action when his initiative tick comes round with no penalty.
