Earlier in this week, our DM laid waste upon our meager adventuring party. a rogue Chuul walked immediately from the muck, and after a surprise round and a successful initiative check, brought our party wizard from full health to death with one fell full attack. Our party Druid and Fighter fell quickly after.

After our ranger and our cleric ran like scared kittens, it was decided to let this failure stand, and to make a new adventuring party. The setting will be Osirion, and the level will be 3. The DM is strictly pathfinder, and even fluff is hard to get approved.

So here's my thing: I want to play a barbarian, most likely either human or orc. I want to use the Falcata, and I would like to dual wield them. Does the playground have advice for this?

Don't? Or, rather, realize that it's going to hurt to do so.

Since falcatas are one-handed weapons (as opposed to light weapons), even if you take the Two-Weapon Fighting feat chain, you'll be at -4 to hit for both weapons.

Are there any light weapons you'd consider using instead of a second falcata? That would cut your penalties to -2 for both weapons.

I was hoping for a feat along the lines of Oversized Two-Weapon Fighting from 3.5, though in Pathfinder form. if I have a high enough strength, I might be able to convince (read: beg) him to let me take it.

If there's another way to get it, whether PrC or feat, I'd be willing to look into it.

You could be titan mauler you can use two two-handed weapons in one hand. greatly increasing your damage. its a really neat class I'd suggest using it if your dm allows variant classes.

now Titan Mauler sounds like a lot of fun. I'll talk with him about it to see if it can work, and even if not, the thought of using a greataxe in one hand is too funny to not try.

A Melee Character in Osirion you say?

LIVING MONOLITH (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/i-m/living-monolith)!
Full Bab and Swift Action 3/day self Enlarge Person with 6+ Minute duration!
Go Half-Orc and take the Shaman's Apprentice alternate Race Trait to get Endurance (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/core-races/half-orc)!
Then all you really need to do is take the Iron Will feat and save 1000gp for when you hit level 6!

2 levels of the class makes a solid dip!
After that your mileage may vary!

[/end Exclamation mode]!

As far as Two Weapon Fighting with a Barb... that's a little more iffy. Doable, but not as recommended as Two-Handing.
If you DO go TWF then pick up the feat Double Slice (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/double-slice-combat---final) as soon as you can, to get Full STR bonus with your Off-hand weapon.

Also, if you go TWF AND take Living Monolith beware that you will need extra DEX as Enlarge Person drops it by 2 points (if you no longer qualify for a feat, you lose the benefits of that feat), so you'd need 17 base DEX to use Two Weapon Fighting (the feat) while Large.

The living monolith seems fun, but not where I want to head with the character. Double slice, on the other hand, is a must. thank you for that. The DM is willing to make a trait for me where I can use a falcata in my off-hand without the normal -4 penalties.

I'm thinking of either starting as a human for the feat or Orc for the strength and ferocity traits.

Would your DM also let you use the 3E Lion Spirit Totem...? Or Whirling Frenzy rage variant?

This would've been so much easier to do in 3E...

But...it's PF. Consider paying lip service to Saranrae so you can take Blade of Mercy trait and combine w/ Enforcer feat, maybe?

I doubt he'll let me pull a lion-totem build, but I'm planning to spend most of my rage powers into the beast totem and elemental rage trees, so I'll eventually get pounce out of this.

The trait and feat are an interesting idea, though I don't know if I like the concept of only doing nonlethal damage.

I'm liking Sarenrae as a diety for an option, seems like it could actually be a fun fluff to take, rather than generic barbarian rager #2.

You're not required to do nonlethal 24/7. It's just an option. An option that nets you +1 damage and synergy w/ the Enforcer feat.

A campaign nonspecific way to do this is the Bludgeoner (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/bludgeoner-combat) feat.

The Merciful (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/magic-weapons#TOC-Merciful) weapon enchantment is probably the overall best option. It does an extra +1d6 nonlethal damage, switches from Lethal to Nonlethal mode as a Free action, doesn't take up a valuable Feat slot, and you can grab something else with your trait.
It does cost money though, which you may or may not have for a while.

Level 1 human can have both Blungeoner and Enforcer, but yeah, for a higher-level character, Merciful+Enforcer looks pretty sweet.
