(IC): A Changing World II [3.5]

OOC: Welcome to the new thread. In this first post I've quoted the last few post of the previous as a reference. And in the secon one we will continue.


Having reach a decision you go to have a look to those ruin and perhaps take shelter in them. As you come closer you see that it will be hard to use a shelter, no roof actually remain, probably fallen and burried under the sand. When you reach the middle of the ruin they do not look particularly impressive. It altar is made of solid stone and covered with symbol. (OOC: know (religion) check to identify). The stone coffer for his part his closed. And the statue is ugly looking upon closer examination, it may represent some sort of monster (OOC: knoweldge check to identify, you don't know which one of course).

OOC: Titian does no perceive anything with detect hostile intent;


Evlen ponders over the structures for a little while, trying to figure out what it was for.

After a little while, however, an idea pops in his head.

"If none of us know what it is for, why don't I melt it and see if there is anything underneath?" Evlen says with a wide grin.

Titian nods at Evlen's suggestion "Let's just keep a wide range for safety measures. If we are standing atop a large building, we must avoid getting sucked in" He's obnoxious about the statues, but his tentacles poke it.


Neither Michael nor Evlen are able to identify the monster statue. When Titian poke it nothing happen. The only thing left to examine is to the stone coffer, and perhaps digging if you are really curious.


Titian checks the stone coffer (search for traps [roll0] then open it)


titian carrefully look for trap but does not find any. The coffer however resist being open he is well and trully locked.


Evlen, seeing that Titan is unable to open it, decides to melt it. Conjuring up his familiar powers over lava, he simply raises his arm and wills the heat to melt away the stone coffer.


Doubt I'll need to use this again the same day, but just for me to keep track, how many square feet is the coffer?


"So....... How do you guys want to handle this? I could try melting it, but I'd probably burn the contents inside of it....."


Titian takes up his backup executioner's mace and prepares to swing "I can try bashing it open. i'd rather trash it and risk breaking something inside than just leave it"

(OOC: if no one has any better option, I'll bash it with full power attack)


"Unless someone here happens to be a locksmith, that may be the best option."

The instant Titian strike the stone coffer there is suddendly a flash of darkness that cover your whole filed of vision when it fade you see that around you the temple as been restored to it's full glory. It's dark end creppy inside, light only by a few candle and a big bonefire just behind the altar. You find yourself unable to move but you see a figure enter the templen it approche the altar and ignore you, you cannot dicser it's trait because it is wearing dark cloak. You notice that a naked man is tied to the altar, an elf in fact, he is weakly struggling with his bond but the multiple wound that cover him show that he won't have the strenght to get out.
When the dark figure reach the altar it take out an ornated knife and brandished it above the elf. It then began chanting in a strangely guttural voice that you do not understand. But somehow the meaning of the words still resonate into your minds. "Oh Dark One I give the blood and the heart of this proud warrior and servant of your most hated rival, the foolish Helres."
With those word heplunge the blade into the chest of the elf, and then with his other hand grab the still beating hearth of the elf.
"With this gift, your humble servitor only ask for a protector for your home."
He then throw the hearth in the bonefire, it suddendly began glowing a dark purple and out of it come a faceless humanoid made of purple stone, blood seem to be leaking from a symbol on it's visage. It stand to attention as if waiting order.
The dark figure then cast some sort of spell and normal stone began to cover the new monster finally taking the shape of the statue under the sand. With that final image the vision end and you found yourself, in the desert once again surrounded by the ruined temple. But one thing has changed the statue has dissaperead and in it's place stand the faceless monster, though now it's a creature of flesh, red blood flesh.

OOC: Evlen and Michael can both act. Note: The altar is 5 feet high, the stone on either side are 2.5 feet high.

Evlen is surprised by the vision, and even more surprised by the appearance of the creature. He is, however, quick to react.

"Eat this!"

He yells as he sends a wave of lava at the creature, with a molten rock seemingly in the center. The area around it seems to crack under the assault.

His element attacks too, causing 2 eruptions near the foe and sending shockwaves at him.



Evlen: Using Earthbreaker formula: DC 17 fort save or it is immobilized for one round. All terrain within 10ft of it becomes difficult terrain.

Michael manages to quickly react to the creatures appearance, and moves to the left around it to flank, firing off a bolt of fire at the thing.

Evlen use his magic to create some sort of magma blast but t splash harmlessly on the monster and dissapear. The attack from his elemental has the same result.
Michael move to the side and also throw a ray of fire but with no more effect.

Before either Titian or Yui can react the monster jump on the altar and spit some blood at Titian. He then also point his arms at Evlen and a ray of darkness strike him.

OOC:
Titian must make a Will save (DC unknow) or something happen.
Ray against Evlen:

Please do not act before Titian as roll his Will save, in any case it's priority to His and Yui actions. Only then Evlen and Michael will be able to act.

Note: On the map it's may seem a little weird to see the monster partially floating but in fact he his on the altar; it's just the perspective.

Titian has a strange glow on his eyes, and almost loses balance as if on a vertigo. When he turns to himself all he sees are statues of agressive monsters
"WHAT THE HELL?? PEOPLE, WERE ARE YOU?!". He feels an otherworldy impulse to attack no matter what....

He bahses his wepon agaisnt the closest monsters he sees, taht were actually Yui, Evlen, and his elemental

Yui wanders into the ruins absentmindly, focusing more on his conversation in the spirits lands with Trevor about if he was also a shaman of the spirit of sand or not. When Titian bashed at the coffer Yui dropped back into the normal realm with a shouted "No!" but it was to late.

As the world cycled and the magic exploded around Yui he cowered back, covering his eyes and was whipped in the back by one of Titian's flailing tentacles. "Come on whipper snapper! Keep it together!" Yui yells at the turtle man before commanding the spirits to attack the strange guardian, forgetting all about the strange spit.

Evlen, seeing Titian swinging at allies like that, immediately turns invisible before jumping away and flying as fast as possible, using a small burst of energy from his belt. He's sure that the best way to stop Titian is to beat the beast before them. And that's the one thing he's sure he can do; for he was the Prince of Fire, noone could withstand his blasting! Although this creature seems to be able to negate magical effects, he still had his ways.....

He quickly points to the beast and yells out "Full assault Rex!" The elemental quick complies with the task, but not before protecting itself from any backlash from Titian.


Evlen flies to 10ft above O11, provoking no AOO from Titian due to his invisibility.

Swift action: He recovers his Earthbreaker formula as a swf action.

The Elemental takes a swift action to activate it's 1-rnd mage armor, +4 AC.

Charging the beast on the alter, provoking AoO from Titian and the beast.

Michael charges Titian, attempting to tackle him to the ground and pin him down. "Get the beasts, I'll see if I can hold him til he snaps out of it! he yells to the others.


I really hope you don't have a good grapple check man.

As soon as he is hit by the blood Titian began attacking his allies.
Yui move away and cast a spell at the monster, it create a jaw of force like usual but it fail against the magical resistance of the monster. The jaw simply hang in the air waiting for order.
Evlen turn invisible and fly away. His elemental briefly glow before charging the monster. (AOO from Titian). Sadly he barelly miss.
Michael then run at Titian and try to grapple him down.

Meanwhile the monster try to strike the elemental.

(This is an enchentment, compulsion, mind affecting effect. Of course you can only be confused once if you are hit again while already confused you do not need to make the save again and it does not change the duration.)

Yui is confused, as Michael pounces on his friend, trying to bear him to the ground. "What is going on..." Yui says, slipping into the spirits realm for a moment.

Trevor floats around agitated, "hey man that thing is wicked... stay away from it"

Yui looks up, "Well duh! I mean, some ancient magic has it stuck here..."

Tevor flips on his back cracking a spirit shell open, "get some distraction out there man. Don't just stand around like some old fool."

Yui sputters for a moment, as the large dark mass flails into the elemental, multi colored spirals shooting around its arms, "Come on now you stupid spirits! I'm in charge here!"

The otter slips over once more, "chill man, chill..."

Yui glares for one more moment before...

"... I think I have an idea!" Yui says as he scoots back, clapping his heads together in front of him and making strange noises in his throat.

The spirits continue to try and latch onto the creature, swirling around the strange creature.

Titian struggles against one of the monsters that attack him, wondering were all his allies went

Titian manages to avoid the crushing grip of the statue and retaliates with several attacks "Where are guys?! Michael, was that your voice!?"

Michael loses his hold on Titian, but manages to avoid his blows. "Titian, calm down! Your under a spell or something, and attacking us!" drawing his sai from his belt, Michael attempts to catch Titian's mace and take it from him.

Evlen was angry. Never before had he seen a companion turned against him, but here this creature had. Not only that, but it had even affected his elemental! That was unacceptable! He, out of pure anger, flies forth, slowing down behind the creature. He then proceeds to unleash a barrage of giant stones at the creature, attempting to pummel it with the stones.

The elemental, under the affects of whatever the creature was doing, somehow appears frightened for a moment before burrowing underground.


The elemental burrows under the ground 40ft.

Evlen uses a swift action from his belt to gain another standard action.

Flies to H13.

1st Std action: Gains sneak attack/Sudden strike dice, +2 to hit due to invisibility. Using the Staggering Slam formula, DC 20 fort save or lose move action.

Yui move away from Titian and began casting a spell.
Titian manage to avoid Michael hold and attack him, missing thankfully.
Michael switch tactic and try to disarm him this fail too.
Evlen elemental's flee underground and his attacked by the monster when doing so.

Evlen himself his enraged at seeing all this he fly behind it and at strike at full power twice in a row, returning to visibility at the same times.
He hit with both dealing a lot of damage, but less than expect (DR).

The monster once again create some sort of dark ray aimed at Evlen.

Across the battle field the world seems to part and a flood of spirits swirl around in front of the monster, each grabbing the next until a white wispy horse appears. It rears back and snaps into reality, pearly white, before it starts to attack the monster.

Yui sputters as two of his team members wrestle on the ground. "Stop it you two, oh I've got the thing for this..." Yui says as he starts to root through his belt pouches, slapping on and another before pulling out a carved bone covered in silvery script. "Ah ha!" he yells before grabbing the bone and snapping part of it across his knee. A thin wail seems to escape before a white mist shoots out scouring around Titian.

Evlen isn't done. No, not nearly. This beast shall fall. Evlen swears upon his title as the Prince of Flames, this beast will die foe the confusion he has spread.

Evlen continues his flight around the beast, hoping to keep it occupied from Yui and Michael while he continues his assault against the beast. But should the foe try to spit it's maddening blood at someone again, he was prepared.

Surprisingly, the elemental reappears in front of the beast, and unleashes a strong punch against the said foe. But a quick look by anyone at the elemental shows it's still under the effects of the maddness.


Evlen flies to L17, keeping his current altitude.

Yui's Unicorn score a light hit on the creature, but his spell don't seem to have affected Titian in any way.
Evlen attack and that of his elemental also damage the monster a little but it's still standing even if visibly wound. (DR)

Michael's sai snakes out again, set on wrenching titian's weapon from his grip.

Michael fail again to disarm Titian and he retaliate scoring a powerful blow on Michael.

Gerty (an amlagation of spirits of the desert directed by the spirit of old woodsman) felt the beasts fist slam into her flank and for a moment she was in the glade, frockling into the mist of her favorite waterfall. With a shake of her mane Gerty was free from the confusion. Narrowing her eyes Gerty saw the problem and made a stab at the creature before running off towards the strange tentacled thing. It's mind was corrupted and Gerty could help.

Yui waved his fist at the Unicorn as it galloped away from the monster. "You. Get back in there. Show some respect!" Yui pulled at his hair in exasperation. I'll have to destroy it myself the old man thinks as he crooks his hands in the air, once again trying to harm the monster. Small cracks between the spirit realm and the mortal plane form around the monster, trying to draw away its essense.

"Dammit, why did I have to choose friends who can actually fight!?" Michael says with exasperation as he bobs away from Titian. He had managed to dodge most of the last barrage, though one had caught him in the side. It didn't feel lethal, but that didn't mean the next one wouldn't be. Snaking out his sai, he tries once more to rip Titian's mace from his hand. Should that fail, he drops the sai and snakes his arm out, wrapping Titian's legs and sweeping him.

"What's wrong with this monster? why won't it fight straight?!" Titian exasperates as the evil monster tries to take him out of the fight using mixed martial arts. when the unicorn comes, he dodges but changes his focus, since the creature was actually trying to hurt him with sharp devilish horns

OOC: Quick mid round update Yui's spell as no effect on the monster (SR), The unicorn miss before moving near Titian but her aura does not change is comportment. Michael try to disarm and then grappel Titian but fail twice. Titian attack the Unicorn, doing lot of damage to it.

Aoo from monster on Unicorn and Titian can also make one with his tentacle.

Evlen continues his assault against the beast, knowing the others are busy trying to keep Titian under control. It was unfortunate that it happened this way, but it was up to Evlen to deal with the beast, and that's exactly what he was about to do. Evlen continues his assault, using up another burst from his belt to move before throwing another 2 rocks at the beast. Unfortunately, they're not as strong as what he had used before, but he'd need a chance to recover before he could use those again.

His elemental on the other hand just stands around by the beast, making some weird noises. It seems as though he was trying to say something, but it was uncomprehensible.

Once Titian Killed the Unicorn it dissapeared into the ether.
Evlen move closer and once again create rock to throw at the creature but they either miss or bounce on its hard skin.

The monster choose to ignore the babbling elemental and jump down next to Evlen to attack him.

Titian bashes a terrible demonic, horn-impaling devilish and fiendish construct... he he sees a unicorn on the ground...

He looks arround again and sees michael with a bad wound on his head and the others fighing the mosnter. He takes a second to realize what the hell had just happened but then recalls every detail and gets pretty pissed off

(to michael)"Ops! sorry buddy!"

Then he vanishes from sight and moves to attack the terrible construct. while thinking on a good way to apologize to michael later.

"Oh thank the gods." Michael says as Titian finally snaps out of it. Taking off at a run, he circles around the opposite way of Titian, coming to the opposite side of the monster and launching his attack.

Evlen is caught off guard by the sudden rush of the monster, and is hit squarely in the chest with the attack. Evlens instincts kick in at this moment, causing him to generate a quick burst of energy around him before flying away, out of range of the beast. Of course, he happens to stumble during his retreat, opening himself up to another blow from the beast.

At this point, Evlen's bleeding heavily from the battles they've fought. He takes a second to catch his breath, and then, raising his hand, conjures another rock and tosses it at the beast.

His elemental continues to stand around, making weird noises while doing nothing.

Yui is confused, the spirits seem to be unable to affect the creature. "Dang it!" he shouts at the sky as he wracks his mind for options. And its there, Yui had been relying on the spirits, but there were not his only trick.

He scambers forward putting his back up against a pillar and when the Prince of Fire climbs higher Yui leans around the column and spits into the air, briefly pulling his mask out of the way. The air snaps with an audible crunch when the temperature goes from desert heat to artic chill for an instant.

Titian finally regain his mind and immediatly charge the monster, but sadly miss.
Michael follow suite and hit once.
Evlen hit for some good damage too.
And finally Yui send a blast of freezing cold air that finally drop the monster. It fall to the ground dead.
You all rejoice after this particularly bizarre encounter. Evlen recall his elemental in his gem to avoid his confused action.

Titian is clearly frustated! not only he hampered in the fight but the monster completetly avoided personal revenge by the tortle. He's still more ashemed to have fallen to his mind tricks than angry about it. he looks at Michael headwound and keeps saying that he is sorry about it and that such things should not happen again.

"Hum, er... well, I didn't do that on porpose. I mean, I did, but... not at you, at the thing, and... er..."

He's clearly embaressed and such situation is comic, since Titian is so poor at comunication and handling with excuses and the feelings of other living things. it would be priceless to make fun out of him at the moment.

Trying to change topics as quickly as possible, he goes on to check the damm coffer.

Yui glances back around the column and sees the monsters frozen stiff body, quickly thawing in the sun. He whooops loudly and capers out from the behind the pillar pointing at the cooling body making ridiculous faces and sticking his tongue out.

"Did you see it Titian! Whoo knocked it right off its feet ah ha! Power of the Dragon I tell ya. Oh were you to busy trying to beat up Michael to see that? Well let me tell you all about it!" Yui says as he dances around the body.

Michael rubs his head as Titian apologizes to him over and over again. "It's fine, it's fine! My head's all air and fire anyway, so I doubt you hurt to much. Well, I doubt you hurt too much permanently. I know I'll have a massive headache tomorrow."

[bindin garoth]

"Power of the dragon huh? Or could it be from me throwing all those rocks at it beforehand?" Evlen says with a grin.

Suddenly, Evlen feels a chill down his spine. He takes a quick look around to see if anything is there, but doesn't see anything, so he just writes it off for now.

Titian opened the now broken stone chest and this time nothing happened.
Inside he find an old book written in a language none of you know, an amulet that look like some sort of holy symbol, some sort of star, a small scroll and finally an heavy pick made of dark steel and decorated with the same star symbol as the amulet.
When Yui look at them he can tell that everything except the book is magical in some way. (OOC: I presume you use detect magic)

Yui walks over to Michael and pokes him with a wand in his earthen arm. "Evlen does your culture teach you to respect your elders or is it all rock chucking and things on fire?" Yui pokes Michael again with the wand, perhaps harder than needed and laughs grinning at Evlen.

"Do you need any healing Titian? Can I get close yet? Oh look shiny things!" Yui critically examines the items. "I don't know what they do but at least Titian didn't dent any of them..."

At that Yui packs the items away. "Well, should we sleep here or move on?" Yui says

"Mostly to set things on fire. It solves everything, you know?" He says, with a grin that shows he's not really kidding.

Unfortunately, Evlen has another chill down his spine, this time accompanied by black dots in his vision. By the time he realizes it's happening, however, it's gone. 'What in the 9 is happening to me?' He thinks to himself. However, he again, just writes it off, the only outward sign of anything happening to him is a brief shiver from the chill.

Seeing the hour and after this difficult battle you decid that this ruined temple is a good enough place to spent the night. You use another mini-hut that expend as soon as it touch the ground. You spent a little time relaxing and discussing the day event before going to sleep, for those that sleep anyway. During the night all those that sleep are the victim of strange and frightening dream, vision of various creature being sacrificed in numerous different way but always violently and painfully. This does not make for a pleasant night and you wake up in foul mood but strangely not tired.
You then continue on you way following the orb, not even two hous later you spot some sort of building in the distance, as you come closer you can see that it's some sort of big dome made of stone, the orb is clearly pointing at it. On the side you see a solid wooden door. Have you finnaly reached Lingchan house ?

OOC: No penalty even after this strange night.

Yui has some extreme dreams, even more so because of his connections with the spirit realms. He sees bodies forn apart and souls channeled into pure nefarious energy. All day during the walk he complains about the heat he can't feel and the stinging sands. He mutters negative things about the domes owner as soon as it peaks over the horizon.

"... And I bet he is too stupid to just have a door."

Titian is normaly in foul mood and very miserable. He wakes up raging on the inside, and angry at any, all and none reason. Much like a human female.

Titian barely says a word after getting up, only giving cold and agressive glances at you, clearly irritated and angry. You've alredy learned that the best to do in this occasion is leave him be and find something he can kill as soon as possible.

For the third time in his life, Michael watches his body morph into something new in the middle of the night. His body becomes metal, joints worked by gears and pistons, his lungs a bellows, and his eyes red crystals. By the time everyone awakens, he is completely changed, though still on guard duty.

"This is quickly ceasing to be amusing." he comments in a monotone as the other wake up. First the elements, then ooze, and now metal. Just once I want real skin."

Evlen wakes up with a pounding headache. With no clue where it's coming from, he ignores it the best that he can and continues on with the rest of the group, hoping it'll go away as they travel. Unfortunately for him, it only continues to get worse.

The t=sight of the house relieves him, for he was already in a bad enough mood due to the heat. It was clear that he just wanted to get inside. "Well, what are you guys waiting for!? Let's go!"He says to the group, running up to the door. As soon as everyone else gets there, he'll go ahead and open the door.

OoC: Didn't think about it until just now. He has 16 HP....

Yui stares at Michael in the morning, "I just want skin as well. How come you get to change and I don't..." Whdn Evlen shows the large bruises across his side Yui pokes him with his wand a few timesaggesively. "Let's."

You all approch the stone dome and reach the door on the side of it. Nothing is written on it that would indicate who may live there but you see a bell on the side that you can ring.

Michael steps up and rings the bell, then steps back where he was.

Yui closes his eyes and shifts his dragon anima, and everyone's senses becomw more acute, throbbing with collected power. The effect is not unfamiliar but the power is. "How nice he has a bell..."

Evlen simply waits by as they ring the doorbell. "If this isn't the guy I'm frying whoever comes out of that door!" He mutters. He's not in a good mood to say the least. At least his wounds were feeling a lot better, thanks to Yui. Now, if there was only something he could do about his headache.....

A few minutes after ringing the bell you can hear some noise behind the door and finally a judas open in the middle of it. By this openning you can see a small lizard-like head looking at you curiously, Finally it speak up in a bored tone of voice, "Yes ? What can I do for you ? Are you lost ?"

Titian focuses on his senses and the surrouding leaving the talk to the others. Not that he is worried about the lizzard attacking them...

"Is this Lingchan's house? We have a message for him." Michael asks the lizardman.

[bindin garoth]

Evlen isn't too concerned either. But he's tired of the splitting headache he's had all day! Hopefully they'll have a chance to at least sit down in there, maybe take a quick rest.

The lizard quickly respond to Michael question, "Yes it is but the master is busy come back later."
With that abrupt statement he close the juda leaving you outside under the scorching sun.

[Duncfoo]

Yui looks over at Michael for a moment before bursting out laughing. "Well, it seems we've found the illustrious Lingchan." Yui reaches over Michael's shoulder and pulls the bell again mumbling, "Now that is just rude... I'm going to give him a peice of my mind."

[ForzaFiori]

Michael puts his foot next to the door, ready to slide it in the doorway so that it can't close this time.

"You know, I could just melt an opening on the side here....." Evlen says, with a grin on his face. It was clear that's exactly what he wanted to do.

OOC: Note to Forzafiori, a judas a small wooden window set inside a door, that allow people to see who's knowking at their door.

You can hear noise again behind the door and the judas opened again, this time revealing a black devil-like head with small horns, but the voice is the same. "I said that master Lingchan is busy, you can come back later." As he prepare to close the judas you can vaguelly hear another voice from inside, it's too weak to understand clearly but the creature stop it's movement. Finally it turn back to you, "The master said that you can enter." He grumble a little as he said it. He close the judas for good this time but shortly after that the door open, revealling some sort of gremlin with wings and white skin. The inside itself look warm an inviting, nothing really point to it being the house of a wizard apart perhaps the bibliotheque in the corner.
A small dark-haired man gesture for you to come inside, he's wearing cream colored loose clothes that look confortable considering the temperature. Once you are inside he look at each of you in turn before speaking up."Welcome in my home, I am Lingchan the Master Transmuter." He seem very proud of his title and it show. "I rarelly have visitor, and unanounced one even more rarelly. What bring you to come all the way in the desert to see me."
Meanwhile the gremlin walk away, ignoring you, grumbling to himself. It suddendly morph into a sand colored cat before seetling on a cushion against the wall apparently to sleep.

[ForzaFiori]

Michael bows deeply to Lingchan. "Thank you for allowing us to come in, Master Lingchan. As you have no doubt noticed, our bodies are not what they should normally be. Similar changes have occured across the world. We are assisting the town of Clertep in finding a way to reverse these changes. To do that, we needed two things. First, a large bag of golden sand, which we have been told exists near your home, and second, your cooperation. As the worlds foremost transmuter, your knowledge would be irreplaceable in fixing the change. The Church of Boccob also mentioned something about a book you've been looking for that they'd be willing to give you in exchange for the help."

[bindin garoth]

Evlen mumbles as they are let in. He was counting on melting down an opening for them. It probably wouldn't of ended well, but still, it would of brightened up his day a little. The pyromaniac takes a seat near Michael as he talks to the transmuter. There wasn't much to add to the discussion, so he simply waits, abit impatiently.

Lingchan gesture for you to take a seat while he listen to Michael explanation. "Yes I am aware of the change I live in isolation but I do have some contact outside of the desert, and I was affected too even if it's not obvious."
He pause to cast a quick spell before continuing. "I guess that they are trying to create a spell to reverse the Change, golden sand is only ever used for new spell. And of course it would belong to the school of transmutation hence calling for me."
While he talk a pitcher of fresh water and some cup come floating on the table.
"I admit that being the first to cast a new spell is an interesting prospect, still I'm not sure I want to reverse the change I quite like the Change myself."
More object come floating toward the table, cups of fruit this time.
"As for a book, well I'm a wizard and a scholar, of course I like book and I'm always searching for rare one but what book could be paiement enough for me to go all the way to Clertep and to cast a spell that will probably be very spiritually draining."
He look pointidely at Michael, waiting for a response.

[Duncfoo]

Yui introduces himself and sits down when offered a seat and listens to the monk and magician talk. He pours a cup of water to be polite and doesn't toch it. "Lingchan, we aren't trying to reverse the change for everyone." Yui lets his mask down as he speaks, showing his strange spidery face. "I was a handsome man once and now look at me?" Yui picks up the cup of water and tries to sip, spilling water from the cup as his strange mouth tries to lap up the water. "I'm hideous. My best friend stop living and has been moping around. Villages are destroyed, amorphous blobs roam the roads suddenly aware and malicious. The change hasn't been easy on everyone."

Yui puts the cup down. "We've consulted an Oracle; who by the way had set up shop on a mountain where everything wanted to kill you, and without something beyond our understanding stepping in we are stuck with what ever random Change we are assigned... But we also learned that reversal may be possible on a limited basis. Michael here and I are willing to be part of this experiment. Now, why you want more books I don't know. You have a lot of them. Do you really like books? Seems to me if you help the Temple of Boccob on this they'll make sure you get in a few books and get some books to expand you collection. They said it was really rare. Let me see what it was called..."

Yui stops to think for a moment, "Yes, I think you would get put into a book for helping start the research for something that has affected the entire world. Even the spirts are agitated about this. I know. They won't shut up."


I love that Yui is the most diplomatic / least intelligent of us...

Lingchan listen carefully to Yui explanation and nod when he show his face. "Yes, I suppose that is true, the change couldn't have been a good thing for everyone. As for my like of book, well it's at the same time one of my passion and part of my work. I need the knowledge contain in books to pursue my researches. Without books I wouldn't be what I am now."
He seem a little irritated that someone would question is passion.
When Yui mention the Oracle he is visibly more interested. "You've managed to reach the Wind Oracle temple ? I must admit that I'm impressed, not everyone can manage it."

[ForzaFiori]

"Master Lingchan, what can we do to get you to help us? The church of Boccob is willing to offer the book "Obscure Principal of Body Modification" by Gerard Drak, but if that isn't enough just tell us what we must do to have you come with us. We can't take no for an answer, not with the livelyhoods of so many people at stake."

[zagan]

When Lingchan hear the name of the book you can all perceive it's shock before he compose himself, "They managed to find it you said ! Well that change things this book is as far as I know unique, or was, knowing Boccob church they've probably made a few copy now. Still if they are willing to give me the original."
He pause before continuing, "Very well I will come with you to..."
Before he can finish he is interrupt by a very soft voice coming from the other side of the room. "Why didn't you tell me that you were expecting guest dear ?"
You all turn to look at the possessor of that voice and you see a stunningly beautiful woman coming down the stairs. She's tall, with long dark hairs, golden skin and a perfectly proportioned figure, barely hidden by her body-hugging white dress.
Lingchan turn to look at her, "I'm as surprise by their visit as you are dear."
He turn to you and say, "May I present to you my wife Sabri ?"

[bindin garoth]

It's nice to meet you. Name's Evlen." He says to the woman. He stares for just a moment, and then realized he is, and turns his head away.

" Excuse me for asking, but were you affected by the change? I don't see anything different about you....." Evlen asks her.

[zagan]

Lingchan nod at Evlen question, "We were both changed, in Sabri case visually it mostly enhance her already impressive beauty to truly supernatural level. As for me it's way more obvious but I'm a transmutter so it's trivial for me to hide the change, not because I've become hideous but because I like to keep thing secret."
He let you ponder on that while Sabri come closer, she observe all of you closely.
"What a strange bunch of people you are."
She move next to Michael, "A man made of gear, apparently an unarmed warrior at that." She then close on Titian, "Do you naturally ressemble a turtle or was the change really drastic for you ? With tentacle even, very curious." Elven is next."Your wings are magnificent, I love the color, remind me of fire."
And finally she close on Yui, "I can see that you suffer from your change, I hope you'll find a way to heal or to accept it.
She goes to turn back when suddendly she look into Yui's eyes apparently surprised."But, you are ?" She fixed Yui for a minute before finally nodding to herself. "Yes, now I understand you are an adept of the way, thaugh by a silver if I'm not mistaken. And a spirit speaker too. I wonder who taugh you."
She turn back and sit by her husbands side.

[bindin garoth]

"Thank you, it appears I was lucky with this change." Evlen says with a grin. The truth was, he believed it had been a blessing for him, a sign that he was to be the greatest pyromaniac fire wielder around. But of course, he was sure they'd all think he was crazy. Well maybe he is, but he doesn't care about that anyway.

[Beschoren]

Titian nods at the mage's wife, somewhat intimidated by her presence "Rare species. Only the tentacles came from the change.". He's a bit unconfortable with all this talking...

And why Lingchan just let them in? no wards and guards? Is he that powerfull he could wipe out any group of desert travelers, or he's that naive that belives all people knoking in are nice?

[ForzaFiori]

"The gears are not the only change. On the day of the change, I became elemental, a mix of the 4 true elements. Some time later, I became like jelly, and now this. I can even change from one to another, though it tires me. For all I know, I may continue to change, picking up more and more. If only I could change back to normal..." Michael explains, before turning back to Lingchan. "So can we count on you to return and help Clertep find a way to reverse the change? We can give you time to prepare for the travels, of course - we still need to get the golden sand before returning."

[Duncfoo]

Yui narrows his eyes at the beautiful thing. "I suffer. And what do you know of speaking and adeptitude?" Yui has trouble trusting the gorgeous woman. Those two things always meant trouble.

"Good idea Michael. Now that we have found You we can go get this sand and get to more comfortable climate."

[zagan]

Lingchane apparently choose to ignore is wife strange action and respond to Michael and Yui. "Yes, I will go to Clertep and cast the spell. Today you will stay here if you go search the golden sand now you would't reach until evening and would need to come back during the night."
"Please tell me more of your travel in particular your encounter with the wind oracle and your journey through the desert."

OOC: I think we can speed thing up until the next morning when you go search for the golden sand. If you have any important question to ask Lingchan or is wife you can do it now.

[Duncfoo]

Yui stares at the lady a little longer before saying to Lingchan, "Well, when the change first hit we all found ourselves in Clertep, for a variety of reasons. Things were chaos. The church of Boccob was having problems making sense and barely holding the city together. The Cleric's were unable to figure why such a sudden change could happen and decided to consult a different power. Knowledge seems to not like to be in one place..."

Yui pauses to slurp some water for a moment, "We volunteered our... abilities... and headed for the mountain said to house the Oracle. On the way everything tried to kills us. I mean, have you left your dome? It's a nice dome. Can't say I will feel comfortable in my cave again." Yui puts his mask back up before continuing.

"Still listening? We get to this village at the bottom of the mountain and hire a guide. He is said 'I'll take you the safe route' which I was excited about. Apparently the safe route was covered in things that tried to kill us. Two headed monsters and flying monsters and rocks and we had to climb. Which was fine for me because I can cling to things now. So we get to the temple and the guardians make us go through a bunch of trials and tests before we get to the Oracle, who was really nice and answered some questions for us. Of course, her answers were cryptic. Oracles seem to do that." Yui says with an air of wisdom.

[zagan]

You spend the rest of the day retelling your various adventure to Lingchan and Sabri. They tell you some of their own adventure. All in all a day of relaxation after your long trek through the desert.
Early the next morning you are ready to go, Lingchan explain the way to the golden sand in detail mostly giving you a list of terrain feature so you don't get lost. For his part he will begin preparing to go to Clertep once you're back.
Your journey through the desert isn't easy but finally early in the afternoon you spot a small dune of sand that is litterally glowing.

[ForzaFiori]

"That looks important. I think we've found the sand. Michael says to no one in particular. "Who's got that special bag?"

[bindin garoth]

"I don't." Evlen says, holding his hands up. "If I had it, I could of accidently burnt it up!:

[Beschoren]

Titian spends the night with one eye opened. despite the nicities of the mage, the tortle is suspicious by nature - specially since the wizzard simply let them in, just like that.

At any rate, he takes attention to all instructions. Once they reach that strange dune, He grabs the sack and prepares himself to go get the sand. If he feels the ground is tricky (like with quicksands or something) he will aks michael to do it.

Yui snores through the night, a strange hissing & whistling snore. The dome was much more pleasant than sleeping on the sand or even the tiny little huts. The old elf is refreshed and cantankerous in the morning.

When the team approaches the glowing dune Yui extends his dragon senses, trying to stay alert.

Titian being a little paranoid use a little energy to prepare himself in case of combat before approching the golden sand. He is proven right when he feel a very hostile presence in front of him.
He stop moving and draw his weapon but nothing happen yet.

Michael sets up his usual buffs (Inertial Armor, 7 PP) as well as a few extra (Defensive Precognition, 7 PP - +3 AC, and Offensive Precognition, 7 PP - + 3 attack) and prepares for battle, moving up to ~30' behind and to the left of Titian.

Evlen is wordless as he steps away from the group, not wanting to burn them as he powers up and readies for the coming battle.

First, he allows the elemental out of it's gem, and with a single command word, causes flames to dance around the elemental. He then causes similar flames to start dancing around himself, and proceeds to turn invisible. His flames also turn invisible.


Release the elemental from it's gem.

Use Embrace of the Flame on the elemental. 3 rounds: 1d6 fire damage to those adjacent, +2d6 fire damage on attacks.

Use Critical Mass. +1 crit threat range, +1 per round that goes by.

Invisible.

Yui flips back and forth between the spirit realm and the real trying to find the threat. "Let's just keep moving towards the sand slowly."

When Titian uther his warning all the other began preparring themselves. Michael moving in better position while using his power, Evlen call his elemental and become invisible and finally Yui use his power of detection.
When he scan ahead of Titian he detect a spirit hidding before them but none of you can see it.

[Duncfoo]

Yui points his finger, arm bent and body forward, "Spirit show youself

... Yui drops into the spirit realm for a moment to really look. Against the evolving metallic raindbow shimmer of Michael; against the dark collapaing nova of Titian; against the towering inferno of Evlen stood a new shape.

Yui looks up at Trevor, "Hey buddy. Get the boys. We may have a problem."

Trevor flips his tail, showing rare annoyance, man... Chill out... What if it just wants to hang...

Yui pauses a moment, "I actually haven't even, thought about that... Uh... More spirits to hang out with I guess?" Yui finishes with a shrug, rippling a lack of concern. Travis flipped through the aether.

Yui then pointed his finger across the colorless sand, "Show yourself...


before we do something that's gonna hurt!"

"Titan, are you sure you're not seeing things? I see nothing!" Evlen says, looking around for anything. Still, he keeps his flames going in case something should happened.

Then he hears Yui shout out. "Oh." Is all he says when he realizes there must be something there.

Still wary of attack by this unknow creature Titian continue to advance toward the golden sand and suddendly a tornado of mulitcolored sand erupt from the ground and surround him. Yui recognize it as the menacing spirit in question and use the spell he prepared barrely avoiding hitting Titian in the process. The sand tornado is illuminate by this fire but it's hard to tell if it's damaged by it.
Titian for it's part suddendly feel much weaker and is attacked the fast moving sand.


OOC: Titian Take [roll0] points of damage, Fort save DC 17 or nauseated for 1 round, if you want to manifest a power (or similar) you need to make a concentration check DC 20+power level or lose the spell.
He also take 2 penalty:
-2 att, save, skill (mind affecting but no save)
-2 att, check, save, weapon damage rolls (mind affecting and fear but no save either)
They stack if applicable. (-4 totall on attack rolls for example.)

You can all act now, Titian can act twice, once in the "surprise round" (one standard action) and once normally. Because of his power.

Yui points his finger and starts to keen out a single high note, his eyes rolling to show their whites...

Yui floats up a few feet in the spirit realm, as the static of motes and currents rushes to cover Titian's pulsing form.

Yui says in a voice that grows cold towards the end, "Just protecting some sand huh? Just hanging out in the middle of all this sand and you think 'hey, look gold sand!'. You have chose the wrong sand to become attached to pal." and Yui's shadow becomes unnaturally long, projecting way past his body in the sunless lands, growing like a pair or spreading wings to envlope the offending spirit. "Behold your doom spirit!" Yui cries, his form spreading its infinite insecticidal legs as his shadow thrashes the spirit...


Small flecks of foam appear at the corners of Yui's mouth, but he doesn't move or lower his finger for a moment.

Titian holds his ground as the sandwhirl clashes with him. thanks to the vigor power he's not worried at all, and happy that the presence snatched the bait at him instead of Yui or Evlen.

Still, he has to make his part:

Evlen points towards the raging whirlwind, and yells out "Burn it, Rex!" Quick to obey his master, the elemental rushs forth, covering itself in a shimmering magic before ramming into the said spirit.

Evlen, on the other hand, remains where he is. The flames dancing around him start to burn even brighter, before completely going out. But this only remains for a second, as lava starts to rush out of the ground right beside him and at the spirit.

Michael runs across the sand towards Titian, his training allowing him to prevent his metal body from sinking in. "Titian, let me see the bag!" he hollers as he heads towards the Tortle. Assuming Titian hands it out, Michael grabs it and continues running, heading around Titian to the golden sand "Distract him for a minute while I fill the bag!"

Titian hands the bag to Michael and then focus his attention on physically bahsiong the spirit, hoping it wil work.

The bag is on my belt. it takes a move action to pick it up, and I'm assuming it's a free action to give it to michael (meanwhile holds the wepon in only 1 hand)

swift action: manifest hustle to gain a move action
once he picks the bag, Titian attacks the enemy with a full round. if there is anything illegal on this just disconsider any number of attacks.

-4 on attack as penality, -2 on damage, power attack 3, +2 attack and damage for foe-on-ground, fuels deepcrystal for 2 pp for a single attack: [roll0]

Yui immediatly at using his power over spirit to damage this strange sand spirit, it seem pretty effective but it's hard to tell.
Evlen elemental attack next, but weakened by the bizarre creature aura it miss. (OOC: the elemental take the same penalty as Titian)
Evlen himself then hurl a lance of fire at the sand, it seem really hurt by it. (OOC: Immobilized but swarm can't be knocked prone)
Michael run by Titian and grab the bag to get the golden sand, he too his weakened by the sand when he pass by it but as soon as he leave it's vicinity he regain his strenght.
Titian is briefly sickened by all the sand surrounding him but he manage to regain his sense and attack viciously, to no apparent effect.

OOC: Normally Titian woul have need to make a Concentration check to manifest Hustle but the result is the same so this time we can ignore it. Still remember for next time.
Titian need to save against nausea again still DC 17 and take [roll0] point of damage.

Titian helplessly try to strike at the swarm, dealing no damage at all. thankfully, the swarm is not terribly damaging and he can just hold it for quia te a while. no use if it can't eb harmed at all, however...

"People, you got this?!"

Yui continues to point at the swarm making a strange keening sound...

Yui's shadow continues to batter at the swarm of bright multi colored lights, trying to tear them from the nimbus of Titian.

"Foolish spirit! Run. Flee! You do not need to waste yourself in vain." Yui yells across the spirit realm, his infinite legs whirling and spining shadows into blades and bludgeons.


... and Yui shudders once and an aura of frost wraps around Titian.

Michael fills the bag with sand, before pulling cooling the air around him and pulling what little water is in the air out to freeze, wrapping himself in ice


I figure filling the bag would be a move action, if not, skip the rest and just move back towards the others, avoiding the energy draining sand.

Evlen, seeing Titian is getting burned by his elemental, quickly orders it to move away from him, but to remain near the swarm. The elemental quickly complies, but instead of attacking again, a dark aura briefly surrounds it and lashes out at the sand.

As the elemental does this, the familiar shiver runs down Evlen's spine agian. His vision goes black for a second. And then, everything is back to normal. He ignores it for now, knowing the enemy must be defeated! Mustering up his strength. He forms a rather large orb of lava above him and chucks it at the spirit.

Titian continue trying to attack the sand to no apparent effect.
Yui use his power over the spirit realm once again.
Michael use the stone pot he grabed from Titian and fill it with the golden sand. (OOC: The church have given you a pot not a bag for the golden sand so Il rulled that it's a full round action to open it, fill it with sand and then seal it again)
Evlen and his elemental continue their assault apparently dealing some damage.

Sudendly the sand change shape coalescing into an humanoid figure, a mummy change like Michael, as soon as you see it you a struck with a paralysing fear. (OOC: Make a Will save DC 19 or be paralyzed for one round)
Immediatly after that it change back into the cloud of sand.

Yui sees the horrible shape collect for a moment and can not deal with it, "Ahhhh!" he screams before his mind blanks out for a moment, his insect brain taking over for a moment. Yui reals, stumbling for a moment as his two selfs meet for the first time...

Evlen is suddenly stunned by the appearance. It feels as if he can't move at all! Like there's some sort of spiritual band holding him in place! Furthermore, he can't even summon up his flames!

"Curse the nine hells!" He yells out in anger. Dark wisps of energy start to surround him, but nothing else happens.

His elemental appears to be in a similar state, and is unable to move.

The sand cloud surrounding Titian suddendly move and engulf Evlen, moving past Michael.

OOC: Evlen and Michael take the same penalty as Titian (see previous post) and [roll0] points of damage. Like Titian if he want to use a spell (or similar) he need to make a concentration check DC 20+spell level.

Edit: Evlen must also save against nausea DC 17 (Fort save) duration 1 round.

When the spirit cloud swarms closer Yui scuttles away, keeping his finger pointed at the cloud and contnuing to keen out a single note.

Evlen feels the spirit run into him, and feels as if a sledgehammer had just hit his gut. Wait what is a sledgehammer? Evlen wonders where the though came from, but now's not the time to thing about it!

As the winds slowly seem to tear him apart, Evlen summons up from within him a burst of strength, and attempts to fly away as best as possible.

His elemental continues to assault the spirit, unable to do anything but this. Again, dark energies flair up around it and lash out at the spirit.


Evlen has a single move action. Flies 20ft up in the air, flies to P11.

As soon as Evlen moves, Michael begins pulling power from within, causing the raw energy to take physical form, coalescing into a solid, opaque hemisphere around the monster.


Wall of Ectoplasm: lets me put a 8' radius hemisphere of ectoplasm on the ground. I'm centering it monster, so it fits. it is 2 inches thick, 20 hp/10' section, and 5 hardness. DC 19 strength check to break through. no spells, powers, or breath weapons can pass through in either direction. Blocks etherial as well as material creatures. Opaque, so no sight based abilities work either.

Evlen manage to flee despite the nauseating feeling create by the sand and his elemental once again attack.
Yui follow up with an additional burst of spiritual energy and this time the sand seem to really be affected by it, it fall to the ground taking briefly the shape of the mummy before bursting into dust leaving behind only ash and a small leather bag.
Michael halt his action, there was no need now.

OOC: End of the encounter, you all gain 900xp. Sorry Forza I want to post as soon as Yui act but I had a few computer probleme and couldn't, maybe next time.
Loot: The leather bag and what's inside + the golden sand.

Michael gingerly walks up to the leather bag and picks it up, bringing it over to the others. Standing a few feet away (just in case) he opens the bag and looks through it.

OOC: It's all good. I just added the PP back to my sheet, and lodge the idea in my head for another time.

"Glad that's over.... So, what's in the bag?" Evlen asks Michael, not even giving him time to open up the bag first! It's clear that he was hoping to find something good here.....

Inside the bag Michael find a small wooden box decorated with strange glyphe and symbol. When he open it he can see a few item snuggly protect by velvet are three crystals, a knife and a calice. Beside the box and it's content the bag only contain a pendant that look like a red eyes inside a golden losange.

Yui drops his finger and stops making the keening sound as the sand dissipates

Yui tears one last time with is Anima, the shadow wings and legs buzzing with the sound of a million cicadas in the summer. The shadow limbs are lodged deeply into the spirit creature in an instant it goes from a dark golden buzz of dead scarab beetles to a white afterimage before fading to nothing...

Trevor floats down, a few spirits trailing behind. Was there no stopping it? Did you really have to...?

Yui nods as his spirit form shrinks to fit the moment. [COLOR="Olive"]"Yes Trevor. Some of them are truly mad from the change. Curse this turbulence..."



... and Yui drops his finger before slumping some. "What a mess. Even the desert creatures nature is warped." Yui exclaims, "Well at least we've got this sand. I for one look forward to getting rid of this... Change..."

Yui sweeps his gaze over the items, checking them for magic, wondering what this sand creature would need them for.


Detect Magic

Titian looks arround the sands, as if expecting some other kind of guardian for the golden sand. "This wasn't terribly difficult, you know. The whole forgotten coffer thing went far worse."

He takes off some sand from between his cloaths and ears

"How were we suposed to contact the church again?"

Yui can see that the item in the box are magical and the pendant is too.

"I think the wizard should have a way to contact the church, or to just take us straight there. That is what they're trained to do, after all."

Titian kicks the sand were the mummy-swrm disapeared in sign of disrespect. "Meh. let's move then"

[bindin garoth]

"Stupid Mummy." Evlen didn't like undead. No sir, he definitely did not. And now that they took the only thing of value from the mummy, he decides its time to burn it. Perhaps with a bit too much intensity.

He raises his right arm, and quickly forms a globe of lava, ramming it into the mummy! Flames and ash are all that remain of the mummy....

Yui stands next to Michael as the mopey members of the party vent their frustration at the sand mummy. "Hello Puberty." Yui says jokingly to Michael before continuing, "Well, the church did give us something to communicate with them concerning our success." Yui digs around in his pack and pulls out a blank scroll. "Ah, here we are. Write on this one and it appears in the mirror on back in Clertep." Yui quickly scrawls a message onto the scroll.


Hey! How are you? The desert is hot but we've got the sand. And Lingchan. He has a dome. It's a nice dome too!


"Make sure we have at least 5 lbs of that stuff. Heck, maybe we should bring back extra? Then we won't have to come out here again..."

Titian replyes to Yui "hum, i think we can only carry it in that special bag. how much had fit on it, Michael?"

"Unfortunately I really don't have anything else to carry it with...." Evlen says.

Michael makes sure that the jar of sand is filled to the brim, and then tries to guess the weight.


not sure what skill would be required for this, if any.

Estimating the weight of the sand isn't really easy but you presume that if the church ask you for five pound and give you a container for it, that container must be of the right size.
As you began your trek back toward Lingchan dome, the scroll that Yui is holding briefly glow. When he look at it a new text is written on it.
"Excellent news, just write on the scroll when you are ready to get back and we will send someone to come teleport you and Lingchan. Take care to be away from any anti-divination or anti-teleportation ward before doing so however."

[Beschoren]

Titian nods "All right then, let's get this over with. we get the mage and teleport the hell out of here. don't forget to mention he might want to bring his wife"

[Duncfoo]

yui is surprised at how quickly the message returns. "Seems the have someone on the watch over there. We'll let Lingchan know we are all set to go when we get back to his dome..." The old elf starts to amble behind the group, thankful for the spells that protect him from this desert heat.

"Ready to go." Evlen says. He's eager to get back, he's glad that's over with. But the question remains, now where will they be sent to?

You continue on your way back toward Lingchan dome. You reach it just after the sun as set and knock on the door. Thsi time it's Lingchan himself that open it.
"Ah you're back, I was begining to wonder. Come, come." He motionned for you to come inside. Nothing seem to have change since this morning. You spot Sabri working on something at the table near the bilbiotheque, she wave at you but continue working. Not far from her you see some sort of big ant standing upright placing things in a bag, probably the shapeshifting creature that serve Lingchan.
Once you are inside Lingchan speak again, "So did you find the golden sand ?"

[ForzaFiori]

"Yes, we did. Had a run in with some sort of sandstorm, mummy, tornado looking thing, but we handled it. Now we got one big ole jug of golden sand."

[zagan]

Lingchan seem surprised by Michael response, "You encountered the sand mummy ? In this period ? It should have been dormant !"
He mutter under his breath, "What could have cause this ? The Change is the most likely culprit, or was it something else."
He turn to back to you, "I presume you destroy it ?"

[bindin garoth]

"The thing was a pain, but we were able to destroy it." Evlen answers.

"Are you about ready to go back?" It was clear that Evlen was edger to get back.

[Beschoren]

"Was there something special about this mummy? the boys took it down with little difficulty. as for destroying it... well, it kind of look defeated. from sand form it took and the mummy form and then vanished on the wind and sands piece by piece"

[Duncfoo]

Uidon smiles at Lingchan and again accepts his hospitality, "The sand mummy thing was definately affected by the change. In the spirit realm it... reeked... confusion. The Prince of Fire scattered and melted it's remains, but we truly know little of the desert."
Yui nods at Lingchan about the sand, "Yep, got it in a jug here. The temple has someone who will teleport here and back to Clertep when we contact them. Does this dome have uhh magical looking and teleporting blocking installed?" Yui says, trying to appear like he knows what he is talking about.


I think our group truly know's little knowledge period! :p Go team hit face!

Lingchan respond first to Titian, "Yes it had a few unusual power, notably the ability to become a sand cloud. I want to study it at some point but it's not really important."
He then turn toward Yui, "Yes my house is posses various magical protection, why ?"

"The church is sending someone to teleport us back to Clertep. We'll have to have them meet us a short distance away from your house to ensure the spell doesn't screw up, according to them."

[zagan]

"Ah yes of course, a scrying attempt followed by a teleportation spell. We will need to go outside. It's getting late but that way we can rest before getting to work tomorow. Wait here while I go get my things"
He depart toward the stairs. While you wait for him Sabri apparently finished with her works and come toward you, you can't help but marvel once again at her beauty. "It was nice having guest even briefly and it will be good for my husband to get out of the house for once, so you have my thanks. I wish you well and hope you manage to find a solution for your various probleme." She then specifically adresse Yui and hand him a sealed ornated scroll, "Take this and give him to your mentor if you see him again, tell him it's from a potential ally. But do not open it."
As she finish saying that, Lingchan came back, the only difference you can see is that he is wearing a belt with multiple pounch. His shapeshifting servant change into a rat and climb on his shoulder. "Let's go, I don't much like teleporting so I want it over as soon as possible. "
He turn toward his wife, "Dear I will really miss you are you sure that you don't want to come ?"
"You know how I dislike big city, I'll be fine here. Good by my love."
They share a long kiss and you all try to ignore them. Finally they separate.
"I will really miss you dear good by."
He turn back to ward you and motionne for you to go outside.
Once you are around a hundred feet from his house he speak up. "We are far away enough, just one last thing."
He turn toward his house and began casting a spell, at the end of it you can see that his dome house as dissappeared. "Now you can call for the person to teleport us to Clertep."

OOC: Sorry for the very long post but I want to give a little more life to my Npc. In resume you are now outside the now invisible dome house and Lingchan is waiting.
Yui also received a sealed scroll for his mentor from Lingchan wife's.

Yui again enjoys the hospitaliy of Lingchan, taking a cup of tea or snack if offered and engaging the wizard around his studies. "How long have you been studying umm... Transmuching things? Why live in the desert for this?"

When Sabri pulls him aside to offer the scroll Yui is at first incredulous. "Lady, I'm not sure how you know about me but, Aluy'ynslon doesn't just open random scrolls. I am his messenger and herald, but I can't approach his mightiness with what may just be dribble poetry about his magnificent scales. Or it could be worse, a curse, a trap. Grant me the boon of knowing what I deliver so that his greatness doesn't find me wanting."

Evlen can't help but think how great a dragon could be. Yes they were powerful, but they, just like anyone else, could burn. Even those fire-breathing ones who thought that they were masters of the flames just because they could breath fire! How little did they know!

And what did she know of dragons anyways? Was she also a dragon worshiper of sorts.

Ah, he decides now's not the time to get lost in his thoughts. They were returning afterall. But he is curious about something.

"How did you become an expert at transmutation anyways?" Evlen asks the old man.

[zagan]

OOC: Okay so we go back in time a little to allow for Yui to roleplay a little.

Sabri does not look happy about being questionned like that, "You have no business knowing more about this missive for your master, still if it can calm your fear you are welcome to scan it with wathever magic you wish. In addition the seal on the scroll is well know by dragon, your master will understand it's meaning."
Yui can indeed see an unique seal on the scroll, it look like a multicolored dragon scales with a strange rune on it.

OOC: If Yui want to insist I need to ask for a diplomacy check. Yui can also try to identify the seal with a knowledge check.

While is wife talk with Yui, Lingchan respond to Michael question, "A lot of things contribute to my interest and eventual mastery of transmutation. Mostly a natural passion from when I was young plus lot of effort spent studying it, there's no real secret."

[Duncfoo]

Yui nods at Sabri. "I will deliver this missive then, but before I deliver it I will scan it for any poisons or magics. That is agreed." Yui pauses before continuing, "I am wary, as you seem to know more than I've discussed. That makes me concerned about who or what you are. I mean no insult, but the... world... has been different since the change."

"Ah ok. Well then are you ready to go?" Evlen asks, before noticing Yui giving the woman a hard time about the letter.

"Just relax Yui! They're good people." He yells out to Yui, smacking him playfully on the back of the head. He was in good spirits, ready to head back. And enjoy a nice hot bath...

Yui turns on the young prince when he smacks him in the back of the head, "Young man did anyone teach you to respect your elders!" Yui says before walking off in a huff, heading towards Lingchan and the rest of the group.

Titian is grumpy, but ready to go

".... And did anyone tell you that you need to relax? It's not like I hurt you or anything...." Evlen replies rather quickly. He has a rather wide grin on his face.

OOC: Yui can't recognize the seal on the scroll. We can now go back outside.

After Lingchan as cast the spell on his house, for whatewer reason, Yui write on the scroll informing the one on the other side that they were ready to be teleported. The response isn't long in coming, "Headpriest Ternis will come get you in a few minute."
While you wait you suddednly feel yourself being observed, Lingchan for is part simply point up, "The scrying sensor is here, don't resist it's effect, I don't want to want to wait more than necessery."
And indeed if you squint you can spot a translucent eyes floating in the air.
A few second later it dissapared and the old elf that teleport you to the entrance of the desert is here. "Good evening to you all, Master Lingchan it's a pleasure to met you. I am Silvar Ternis Headpriest of the church of Farlangh from Clertep." Lingchan nod.
"A pleasure to met you too, I'm a ready to go."
"Very well then, everyone take my hand."
You all do so and an instant later you are in central place of Clertep, you can see that here the sun as already set.
"And here we are, it's getting and I still have lots of things to do, so I will take my leave, you are expected at the church if Boccob. Good evening to you all."
With that and a nod toward you he left.
Your group followed by Lingchan advance toward the church of Boccob, at the entrance you fin Yvan waiting for you.
"Welcome back, once again you succed on your mission without trouble. Master Lingchan welcome to Clertep, we are very gratefull that you are willing to help us. I am Yvan cleric of Boccob and leader of the research team."
Lingchan immeditaly respond, "Yes, good evening to you too. I was intrigued by the idea of being the first to cast such unique spell and the promise reward was more than interesting."
"Yes of course, but it's late and we will discuss thing more in detail tomorow. We have prepared a confortable guest room for you, if you would follow my assistant he will show you."
"Very well." Lingchan turn toward you, "I will probably see you tomorow, good evening."
With that he depart following Yvan assistant.
When he's gone Yvan turn back to you, "I repeat myself but you did a very good job, you'll tell me all the detail of your journey tomorow but do you any important information to share right now ?"

OOC: Again sorry for such a long post, what do you prefer ? More detail or brief description ? The later is easier for me but I fear that it may reduce your immersion in the game.

As they get back, Evlen can't help but feel something stirring up in him, just like he felt when they had first finished that monster in the desert, whatever it had been. However, as always, he refuses to think of it as anything serious, although it's easy to tell that he was distracted.

"Nothing more than the usual sir. Fought a few monsters, accomplished the goal. And of course, got loot." He says the last part with a :smallbiggrin: on his face.

Yui nods at the head priest when he teleports in. "Nice to see you again Headpriest." Yui waits patiently for the teleport and shivers once the teleport finishes. "Such an amazing way to travel." Yui again waits for Yvan to great once more, "No more important information, besides the change seems to have... driven things a little crazy. Sand monster attack out of season... We did run into a ruins where we were attacked by a monster that spread confusion through us. It's our fault that one, we tried to open an ancient chest. Oh and we have your sand... Next time maybe send people with a larger trunk?" Yui thinks.

"We've a few pieces of magic to sort through as well, but nothing of import. Lingchan seemed eager to come after we mentioned the book to him."

Michael nods as the others explain the journey. "I also have a new transformation, that turns me into metal and gears. I can show it to your priests at a less busy time, however."

I also prefer the longer posts, though if you don't have the time or they become a hassle, it's not like I'd drop the game without them. I can't really say much though. My posts are usually about 2-3 lines.

Yvan is very pleased with you succes, "Excellent, you'll have to give me more detail tomorow."
He adresse Michael in particular, "Yet another change for you ? Most curious your case seem to be really unique, it's fascinating." He visibly restrain himself from asking more question. "For now I will just take the golden sand and any magic item you want to have identified. I'll assigned my assistant to identify them for you during the night. Ah and could you give me back any hut you didn't used ? The spell will run out in a few day and we wouldn't want to have them spontaneously expend in your backpack."
You give him everything he ask for.
"Thank you, we have reserved rooms for you at the celestial cow so you can go straight there. I'll be waiting for you tomorow morning for your report, good night."
With one last friendly nod he enter the church. With nothing else to do you go to the inn to sleep or at least to rest.
The next day you find yourself in Yvan's office. "Good day to you. Before you tell me about your travel I want to give you back the item we identified."
You can see them on the desk each with a scrap of parchment on it.
"The pick is interesting but I was particularly intrigued by the symbol and the book where did you find them ?"
He seem a little worried when saying that.

Titian just barely greets and nods at the priests, and seems disconfortable at all times. You're already used to this trice-dammed behaviour but sometimes it still worries or scares bypassers, merchants and the priests. His ever-moving missbehaving tentacles make it all even more unverving, specially the way Titian looks at his own tentacles.

It is as if he was spending most of the time trying to control or talk to them or something.

He looks at the loot slightly disgusted and says "Meh, you guys can keep it."

Michael looks over the items, and hefts the pick for a few practice swings, before putting it back down. "I think I'll stick to my sai. Feel free to grab what you want, I'm sure we can find buyers for the rest. he says to the others. Turning to the priest, he answers his question. I believe we picked up both those items in the ruins Yui mentioned."

"Thank you for the help!" Evlen wasn't sure what to make of the loot they had found. The implements of binding would be helpful, sure. But a book about building golems! Priceless!

If only they actually knew the basics about golems, they might actually be able to build one.....

"We encountered what appeared to be a run down alter. Long story short, we encountered a golem of sorts, defeated him, and got this stuff!" Evlen says to the man.

Yui nods along, "I think the pick might be useful, but thank you for identifying it all. Evlen really described it though... just... a few towers in the ground..." Yui goes on to best explain the encounter, from Titian bashing the chest to the summoned spirits being basked by Titian. "Unfortunately none of us really knew what to make of it..."

"A ruined temple you say ? Yes it fit with what's written in the book." Yvan seem deep in though for a moment before refocussing on you. "In the name of the church I'm willing to offer you a nine hundred golds for the symbol and the book. The symbol itself is not evil but in the wrong hand it could boost the power of a fair number of dangerous spells, as for the book the ritual for the creation of this golem require the sacrifice of sentient being we wouldn't want for it to fall into wrong hands. What do you think ?"

"Sounds good to me!" Evlen is already counting inside what all he can buy with the money....... Until he realizes he's forgetting he has to split it.

That dampened his excitement slightly!

"Meh, whatever" Titian says, readly dismissing those itens that do not increase true power directly. but then he realizes something and turns back to Yvan "If I recall correctly we did not went into the desert to bring the lunatic for free, did we?"

When Titian says lunatic, all 4 tentacles smothly but quickly turn at Yui

Yui nods along, "That all seems good. We don't really have any use for sacrifices and blood rituals..." Yui pauses, "And Titian is right, we do need to be paid, service rendered and all that. How long will the experiments with the golden sand take to set up?"

Yvan seem satisfied that you are willing to part with those item, "As for your pay, I have it right there, as promised two thousand gold for each of you. With the nin hundred gold from the item that mean a total of 2225 golds each."
He get up from his desk and open a safe in the wall behind him, inside a retrieve some coins that he put on his desk before each of you. "I used mostly platinium piece, easier to carry I hope you understand. In addition to that seeing that most of you are agent of Clertep now, it was decide that sleeping in an inn wouldn't be practical. As a consequence we will lend you a house that belong to the church, it's normally used for visiting dignitary. I hope you will find it confortable, I'll have someone show it to you once we've finished here."
Once you have digested this news and retrived your money he respond to Yui question. "Lingchan is already studying the spell, he think he will be ready for the casting in three days. We're currently looking for a willing test subject."

OOC: You now "own" a house in Clertep, it will serve as your base of operation for the time being.

Evlen grins at the bag of money as it's handed to him..... Only to realize he is still short! Disappointment is written all over his face, until he hears about the house. 'That'll be useful' he thinks to himself. Of course, he hopes none of the others would trash the place.......

Well, we'll just have to wait and see what happens for that. for now, Evlen is happy.

"Thank you for the house, Yvan." Michael says, accepting his payment. "It will be nice to not have strangers on the other side of the wall for once."

Yui perks up a bit at the house. "You mean, real beds every night?" Yui seems very pleased with this idea. "Hopefully you have a room that will fit a set of angry tentacles," Yui says, glaring back at Titian's mocking appendages. "And I am willing to offer my self for a test... I'll just need to talk to my leige and make sure he is ok with it. I understand there has to be... risks... Until then, do you have any other need of us?"

Yui will stow the coins in his pack and accept a guide to the house. After that, well, he needs to figure out what to do with this letter...

"I'm glad you like it, I'm sure it will be usefull." after saying that he adresse Yui, "Sadly I do not think you can be a good candidate for a first test subject, you are too powerful for that. Still once we finished the test I'll be glad to cast the spell on you myself."
After that he change the subject, "I have another news, the two elven women which we sent to the wind oracle have come back and their information are interesting. First only being from our plane were affected by the Change, baing from outside of it were unnafected unless they were present during the Change. And secondly the Change posses a mental component, it make you more accepting to the Change, it make you consider all the advantage you can use it for. It's not a strong compulsion, after all plenty of people hate their own transformation, but it's there and it explain why things calm down so quickly after the panic in the beginning."

Surely this compulsion wasn't the reason he liked his wings so much, was it? It can be! He had always thought he had been blessed with gaining this specific change......... But he was being manipulated by whoever did this? Oh,, he won't have this, not at all!

"Hmmm...... That's interesting. So do we know anything else about who did this, other than what the wind oracle told us?" He may sound calm, but it's written all over his face. He's mad :smallmad:

"Nothing more, no" He pause wondering why Evlen suddendly changed mood but choose to continue.
"I don't have any other mission for you at the moment but I'm sure that I will find a use for your talent very soon. In the meantime my assitant will show you to your house and if you want will also show the most important building in town, you may need it later. Lingchan as already begun studying the spell and said that he will be ready to cast it in three of four day, your welcome to see the casting if you want."

"Seeing the house would be nice. It'll be good to rest my feet a while."

Titian aprrecites having a house to stay, if even for a little while. He has been so many days on the move he has not praticed the traditional forms, some special meditations, and breathing pratices. He's likely gonna take some 3 days to "catch up" his training, and after that he's likely to invite michael to some live action pratice. With uidon arround for emergencies. And evlen arround to create distractions.

He just takes up the gold and but the little bag on his belt. hopefully he wouldt' lose it on the way*

*Titian loses those 2k going home since he's over-equiped

Michael spends the next couple days in a similar manner to Titian. He makes up for lost time in his meditation and training, occasionally sparring with the Tortle. He also spends a good deal of time in the local church of Boccob and in the town square, paying his tithe and giving alms. Within a few days, his conscious and pockets are both lighter.*

*Michael donates 5,000 GP in various forms, mostly to large organizations.

Yui nods at Yvan, "Thank you. It seems these Outer Gods have more power then I am comfortable with. I for one will continue to resent this. Please show both the home and building then. I guess I'll take a few day break, it's needed."

Having said everything that ned to be said, Yvan bid you a good and ask his assistant to show you to your house. It's not far from the center of town, it's a two story house, not really big but enough for the four of you. You visit it quickly, it got four bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen and a big living room. The assistant, named Jill also explain that the house was a under the effect of spell that maintain an invisible servant that obey the order of the occupant. He said that he can follow any simple order like clean the ground or wash dish, sadly it wasn't good enough for cooking.
Once done he give a tour of the town to those that are interested. It take nearly half the day but it's very interesting. There's a lot of temple in town; mostly in the center but a few are scattered aroudn town. The temple to Obad-Hai for example is in the park. Fharlanghn posses three small temple, in three part of the town but only one is in use a time, the first one represent departure, the second travel and the last arrival. Supposedly their's a temple to Olidammara somewhere but only its cleric are able to find it.
As you have guessed the town is mostly populated by human but there is a strong dwarven community and one halfling quarter. Since the Change a fair number of sentient animals have come to make Clertep their home, they live mostly near the town wall.
Besides the multiple temple Jill show you the most important building in town, the library adjacent ot the temple of Boccob, the court inside the tempe to St cutberth, the small wizard academy, the council building where all headpriest met up and finally the guardhouse.
At the end of the tour Jill wish you a good day and go back to the temple.

The next day Titian realise that he lost his bag of coin and curse the world for it1. For his part Michael choose to donate a part of his money to some good cause, a part to the temple of Tulene and Talene which manage the orphanage, a part for the temple of Xuoken and the rest to various charity group. (OOC Forza: Tell me if it's not appropriate and I'll change it)

After a few day of resting the day of the casting of the spell come and you all go to the temple of Boccob.

(OOC: I will begin sending the mp for your sidequest soon, unless otherwise noted the sidequest take place during downtime and don't interfer with your normal adventuring activity.)

The city for Yui was fascinating. Most of his life had been spent living in remote locations, difficult locals or areas where the spirit and material realms were more thin. But the change had greatly disturbed even where those seeps were. When Jill leads the tour Yui joins and asks many small questions, trying to learn this new place. "Where are the markets? The jails?" The animals near the wall strangely make Yui sad. "Ah, the change surely upsets somethings."

Yui claims a room that allows no morning sun, claiming that the spirits do not favor the mornings. He is excited even though the room he picks is neither large or fancy. "Ha, the cave was nicer," he complains absentmindedly. Yui will that same day purchase a new mirror, decorated with ornate dragons. He also comes home with a box of hair creams and grooming supplies, a small tapestry and three fine suits. Yui stows his new items and goes to commune on the roof. Shortly after he comes back down. "My liege summons me tonight. Do not worry, it is a simple meeting. I will be back before the Boccobites finish their tests..."

Finally after three day you all return to the temple of Boccob to see the first casting of the spell that could remove the Change from someone. When you get there you find Jill who great you and guide you inside, toward the back of the temple and then below it by way of a long staircase. You eventually reach a big room illuminate by torchlight. Inside you find Yvan and a number of other cleric, Lingchan who nod toward you and another man. Yvan come toward you, "Good day to you, I'm happy to see you here. Let me explain how it will happen."
He point toward the centre of the room where Lingchan is carrefully drawing a circle on the ground with the golden sand.
"The golden sand will be used to create a magic circle against the target of the spell and also as an additional ingredient during the casting itself."
He gestured toward the unknow man in room, looking at him closely you can see that he look like a skeletton made of black bones with transparent skin stretch over them.
"This is Jonathan Quell, he will be the subject of the spell. His story is quite tragic, the day of the change he woke up like that. When she's see him like that his wife had a heart attack, she nearly died and now she's deadly afraid of him. She understand intelectually that it's her husband but each time she see him she panickened. This mean that he can't live with her or with it's children. Since the change he nearly kill himself three times. The spell is is only hope to regain a normal life."
He fell silent for a minute after saying that.
"Anyway we are nearly ready to begin, please stay at the back of the room, the casting will take some time so be patient."
You all do so, Jonatan take place in the center of the circle, Lingchan next to him with golden sand covering his hands and a vial of red liquid in one. He began gesturing and chanting in a complex language. It last for ten minutes at the end of this period he splash the vial on the man and place his hand on his chest. There's was a flash of light that blind you for a second, when you can look again you see that the circle of golden sand as dissaperead, but mostly you see that Jonathan as turn back into a normal human being. He look at his hands in wonder and began crying, suddendly he hugged Lingchan who seem perplexed by this reaction. Everyone in the room is smilling and complimenting themselves.
Yvan approch you, "It worked, it really worked ! What do you think ?"

Evlen's truly impressed by their work. They had figured out a cure so fast! Guess this guy isn't one of the top Transmutationist in the world for nothing!

But...... Were there any side effects for such a thing? Surely it couldn't be this easy to undo what a god did.... Could it?

"I can't help but wonder, are there any side effects to this? It just seems like you guys came up with a solution so fast....."

[Duncfoo]

Yui will bow slightly to Jill as she leads him in. Yui looks around anxiously as Yvan explains the experiment feeling guilty that his reason for seeking to undo the change was so selfish. "Hopefully this man's suffering will end." Yui murmurs, mostly hoping to see a successful transformation.

Yui watches the ritual with awe, using his spirit vision to see the forces slowly grow and coalesce around the man. The energy tugs and whirls in a wild vortex of colorless wind, tugging at what makes the man himself, pulling at the soul directly. Yui winces at the flash, half expecting to see the man's soul and body torn to shreds.

"He survives!" Yui yells and hops up and down, hands on Michaels shoulder before answering Evlen. "Of course there is a side effect, he gets to go back to his old life and be happy and productive."

Michael is amazed as the man changes, and stays quiet in contemplation at first, before speaking. "With the need for golden sand, and whatever that red liquid was, combined with the fact that a master such as Lingchan is needed for casting... If magic works as much like psionics as I have been led to believe, such precise devices and strong casters would prevent the possibility of most sinister side effects. It's the difference between a random man washing and bandaging a wound in his house, and an physician doing the same in his facilities."

Yvan listen to your discussion before saying, "Michael is right we've taken a lot of precaution for this first test so thing should be alright, but Evlen is right too. Normally mortal magic, even powerful mortal magic, shouldn't have been able to counter an effect such as the Change."
He grinned at that, "But we cheated. You see the Change can affect a creature in fifteen different way, fourteen change them in one way or another and the last make them remain normal. So instead of trying to reverse the Change we simply shift the Change so that the target is affected by the Change in the one way that leave it as normal. This is much easier, not really easy but doable."
He let you a moment to understand what he mean before continuing, "Anyway now that this is done we can focus our ressource in other direction, we will also began looking for those people that really need to have the Change reversed. As for you we have a new mission for you, you'll need to go to the council building tomorow at nine. This time the whole council will explain the situation to you."
Just before you left he adress Yui, "If you want I can cast the spell on you tomorow just after your meeting with the council."

"I am curious though, if you are just changing how the person is affected, does that mean the spell could be undone?" Evlen says. Perhaps this spell wasn't a permanate fix after all....

Yvan seem surprise by Evlen question, "In theory yes, but in only two ways, either ending the Change globably, for everyone, in that case the subject would stay normal anyway. Or by creating a spell that modify the Change in such a way as to give it back it's previous Change, possible but even more difficult than what we just did."

Yui nods at first to Yvan, a thoughtful look on his face. When Evlen asks his question Yui perks up, "Yes. I do want this ritual but now I can see others might need it a bit more... And Evlen's question raises more questions for me as well. Can I read more about the change in the library? I did not even know there would be 15 varieties. Let those who really need this ritual have it for a few more days. We can meet you tomorrow for the meeting I'm sure."

"From the looks of things, if you keep travelling with me you'll eventually see them all. I seem to be... collecting them."

Yvan seem surprised by that, "If you're sure ? But keep in mind that this spell his hard to cast so few people can do so in addition for those that can cast it still has a fairly high spiritual cost. If I can cast tomorow on someone else I may not be able to cast it again before next month. And finally I'am willing to cast it for free for you because of the service you performed for us but not many would do that."
He pause before continuing, "Still it's your choice, my offer is open for tomorow anyway. If you want to know more about the various Change our library is open to you."

"Well, might as well see what's been learned about the change." Evlen says at the mention of the library. Yes, he'd much rather prefer to be fighting or lighting fires, but information was important, after all.

He just hoped such a chance would come later.

[Duncfoo]

Yui looks at Michael and shivers and puts up both his thin old arms and waves, "Oh nonono Michael not interested yeah Yvan let's so it now. I hope Evlen's idea doesn't hold true. I will undergo this ritual and we'll be done with this "Change"."

Yui at that point will retire to the Library to attempt to figure out "books" until the evening.

Yvan nod, "Very well, I'll see you tomorow then. Good day to you."
After that Yui and Evlen briefly visit the library to search about the change and then join the other at home.

The next day in the morning you all find yourself at the entrance of the council building. Yvan ius waiting for you there, "Good morning my friend, come on the council is finisshing discussing a budget proposal and then it's your turn."
He guide you inside, after a short corridor you arrive in a big room. Against the far wall is situated a big semi-circular table where the coucil sit. At the entrance you see multiple row of chairs, but nobody else is hear. He motionne for you to sit at the back of the row of chairs. He adress you with a murmur, "While they are talking I will present you each councilor it may be useful later."

OOC: Long and detailed description, skip if you are not interested in the background.

He point to the table, "The council count fifteen member each representing a different god. They are sit in alphabetical order, one member is chosen as the president of the council and direct the discussion. It change each year on a rotational basis."
He point at the left most position, "The chief of my order, headpriest of Boccob, Jures Nass. A very powerful spellcaster, knowing an untold number of different spells." The man in question seem very serious, a notable detail his eyes are glowing blue.
Yvan then point to the next one, ""The chief priestess of Bralm, the godess of community, she is named Tell-Miri Volo. She's reputed for her healing power. You can see that she's an old woman wearing a yellow and black robe that remind you of a bee, if she is changed you can't tell how.
"Next is the headpriest of Cyndor, God of Time, Porin Astra, the youngest man to ever sit on the council, a prodigy with time-related magic." And indeed he look very young compared to the other not even thirty year old, he is also the tallest.
"You already know Silvar Ternis, headpriest of Fharlanghn." You recognize him easily from when he transported you back and forth to the desert.
"After that we have the headpriest of Geshtai, Godess of the river, called Bak Yst a very spiritual man, he can commune with the spirit a lot like you Yui." The man in question as multicolored skin.
"Then we have the priestess of Heironeous, Valoris Mosti, she's a warrior of great renom and a leader of even greater skills." The woman in question look very old indeed, but still strong and covered in a very fine grey fur.
"We also have the headpriest of Kord, Hulo Jiat, he's a half-orc, rumored is that in addition to being a very godd priest he is also a berseker." The man in question is bulging with muscle under his light armor and a big sword his strap to his back. His pink hairs clash a little with his appareance but few would dare laugh.
"Following him is Clauda Sil, the headpriestess of Lirr, godess of art, she's an amazing singer, able to create magical song."
The woman in question is good looking and wear a very expensive looking dress but her skin covered in small scales detracted a little from it.
"The headpriest of Obad-Hai, Frigi Lax an half-elf and the current president of the council. You'll note that an elven woman is sitting behind him. She's his wife a priestess of Ehlonna, she's not a member but she advise her husband, and serve as an unoficial representative of the elven community living in the south." Frigi-Lax is a serious man wearing a green tunic, and is wife wear is very good looking despite the chiting plate that cover part of her body.
"The old man sitting to their right is the headpriest of Olidammara, we don't know his name he only use an alias The silence." The man in question look very old and wear completly black clothes, that cover him nearly completely.
"In contrast next to him is the headpriestess of Pelor, Nusi Well. She's normally a kind woman but since the Change she had a very hard time accepting that some people have became undead being. It has cause a few problem for the council." The woman in question is severe looking, her body composed of golden slime go surprisingly well with her white robe.
"Another woman Illko Gratus, headpriestess of St Cutbert. She's not a very good spellcaster but she make it up with impressive martial prowess." The woman look strict but still beautiful and only enhance by a light green skin and vine for hair.
"You'll note that next to her are two more women, twin sister and both share the title of headpriest for the godesses Tulene and Talene, they are Luxia and Larel Trinn. It is said that they chosen at birth to be the avatar of the godesses on our plane. As you can see the Change wasn't very kind with them." And it's true one has red skin and big muscle that look weird on her and the other is apparently made of stone. Still both woman retain an indeniable beauty.
"After that we have the headpriest of Urbanus, god of city, Zero Brest. He is reputed for his talent in crafting magical item." The man in question was changed like Yui.
"And at last we reach, Noro, no last name, the headpriest of Zuoken god of mental power. Despite his appareance he is the oldest member of the council, some say he is immortal." The man in question look ordinary enough, if he was changed you can't tell how.

OOC: We now return to the plot.

After his long explanation Yvan stay silent and only a few minute later the council finish his discusion and call for you. You all advance before the table. The priest of Obad-Hai speak first. "Welcome before the council, it's a pleasure to see you after all you have done for our city. We have all read the report that detail your encounter with the wind oracle. We are quite concern with this warning of a possible civil war. We would like for you to investigate a number of things that may be relate to that. Would you be willing to do so ?"

Yui wears one of his new outfits to the meetings, a dashing blue vest with silver trim over his freshly shined chainmail shirt. His cloak has been trimmed in silver along the edges and falls to behind his kness above his new but stout looking boots. His breeches are a tan leather color and as usual his face is obscured with a scarf. Even his bald spot is well polished.

As Yvan goes over the list of names Yui repeats them out loud, doing his best to try and remember them, although his memory has never been a strong suit. Yui perks up when Yvan mentions Bak Yst, "Can I meet this other spirit caller? I've never known another," Yu replies, when Yvan finishes her introductions. "Now, as to civil wars... Well somewhere there is always a troublemaker waiting to spark up. This just seems like the right opportunity. Clertep is lucky, just you crazy magicians in charge... Imagine if you were like that Pelor-ite Nusi Well you mentioned. 'Ohhh no the king is dead, well, dead-ish!'" Yui makes some theatrical hand motions, "Who is to trust them? It's a change anyways... But yeah. I'll help. Not sure how well I could put down a riot without killig half of them though."

Michael tries hard to memorize Noro's face. Immortal people tend to be important. "I've never been a PI before, but I'm certainly willing to try. What do you need us to look into?"

Titian gives much less care to the council that he should. The only great warriors are 2 womens and a brute. there seems to be no true martial artist among them, but it's ok. The tortle is not so dumb he would disrespect the council but is somewhat uninpressed.

Titian is obviously intrested in knowing the reward and more details of the service, but the issue is sure to come up, so he won't have to bother asking such things himself. He stays quiet and attentive, making a little effort to keep the tentacles put.

When Yui speak up there is a sudden silence in the room and then a feminine voice speak up, "You dare insult me and all those that believe in my lord Pelor ? You don't even seem to know any detail about the situation. In addition to that you dare to critic me in front of my peer during your introduction before this council ? Do not think that the service you've performed for the town will grant you any sort of protection."
The voice in question of course come from Nusi Well, she is standing up and looking coldly toward Yui.
Frigi speak up "Nusi, please calm down. I'm sure this man mean no insult with his word and speak only because of his ignorance."
Nusi composed herself a little after that. "Very well I would be willing to forget it this once if he appologized immediatly."
She look pointidly toward Yui.

Evlen stays silent during the introductions. Only his eyes go wide as Yui talks. Did he not realize what he was doing? Surely he would bring down her wrath upon them all........ Well, at least he has wings.

Evlen was ready for an attack from the head priest with her anger, luckily it ended only with a demand for an appology.... For now. He knew this was going to come around and bite them. Just a matter of time.

Yui holds up his hands, "Ma-am, pardon the words of an old elf who's hearing might not be the best and speaks to those only he can see most of the time."

Yui pauses for a moment before continuing, "Is Pelor-ite the wrong term? I always thought that was the right one. Is it peloran? Pelor-er doesn't sound right..." Yui trails off mumbling some before starting back serious, "Oh! and what is this, is the king actually now change into a... uhhh..." Yui turns to Yvan, "What do we call the half dead changed?"


Why oh why is Yui the most face of us?

Nusi pleased upon hearing the first part of Yui appology and look ready to sit down. But then of course he opened his mouth again. Despite the gelatinous material that constitue her body you could clearly see that the headpriestess of Pelor was incesed. "What sort of fool are you ? Can't you even understand when you insult someone ? I'm asking to appologize for...." She pause and took a deep breath, "No I won't bother, you obsiouvly aren't smart enough to understand."
She turn toward the president, "I am asking for a what on the part of the council to remove the title of agent of Clertep from this man and also to forbid him from talking in front of the council. He is obviously not educated enough to do so."
Frigi hesitate a little but finally nod, he adress the others. "Those that agree with this proposition lift you hands."
Nearly all member lift their hands, Juress, Tell-Miri, Bak, The Silent-one and Noro don't do so.
"Thank you, those that disagree with this proposition lift you hands."
Of those left everyone except Juress lift their hand.
"Very well, with ten vote in favor, four against and one abstention the motion passed."
He then adressed Yui, "Mister Yui you are hereby stripped from your title of agent of Clertep and forbiden from speaking up in front of this assembly. Please hand over your badge."
He did not wait for a response and speak to Nusi, "Are you satisfied with that ? And can we go back to the object of this reunion."
She nod and said, "Yes but I will add a few things. While I will not question the strength of arms of this group, they've reached the Wind oracle temple and came back after all, I need to question their competence as an investigation unit. After all they allowed this man to speak in their name. Think about that please. And secondly from this point on this Yui is persona non grata in any area controled by Pelor in town and any priest of Pelor will refuse to help him even if ask for help." At this point she sit town, apparently satisfied.

Aaaaaaaand it bit them. Hard. Evlen just puts his hand to his head. Yes, it was amusing to watch the old hermit do this, but perhaps this wasn't the best time..... Although he doesn't like her insult of his friend. He manages to hold his tongue while she finishes though. He pats Yui on the back when she says this, knowing he had ment no harm.

He does, however, shoots a quick glare at Nusi when she questions their abilities. So just one instance shows everything about the group, eh? Evlen can't stand it when people are so quick to judge. It was just his friend speaking his thoughts out loud, even if they were a bit...... Inappropriate, he had ment no harm in it.

"Nusi, he had ment no harm in his words. Yui just has a habit of vocalizing his thoughts without realizing he's doing so. And I would ask that you refrain from making persumptions about our abilities at this time, especially considering that you have just met us and know very little about us." Evlen says with another glare.

Titian's tentacles tap Yui on the back, as the tortle smiles and nods at the herimit, as he step forward. it becamos obvious Titian suports Yui and aprroved his manners of speaking while not giving due attention to Nisa's little drama over her oversized ego that obviously dosen't fit on the room

before the group runs out of official agents, titian speaks to the priest of obad-hai "Of course we are willing to help, president of the council. What do you want us to do and what is the reward?"

if needed, Titian will remind the council they also found and brought lichigan and the golden sand. He might also remind them of that little adventure they had battaling an evil mage just before the change. And how they found and destroyed the crazied earth elemental from the mines af that mining town close to the oracle. and if there was any area on the city, they would easely be the champions - obvious at least some of the concilman already know about titian's victory.

"I too would ask the councilwoman not to make absurd assumptions. Titian is trained in stealth, as am I. Yui holds a deep connection with the spirit realm. The denizens of which are often able and willing to help. His lack of social grace, though unfortunate, stems from his long time as a hermit, a spiritual endeavor I thought a high priestess would appreciate, rather than mock. Evlen, through his gift in pyromancy, is one of the best distractions in the multiverse. Our band hasn't survived this long because we choose poor companions. Though, if you really would like to see our skills, you need to simply to give us a task you feel would test us." Michael adds.

Nusi choose to not respond to Evlen and Michael pronouncement. Finally it's Frifi that speak up, "Yes, we need to go to the heart of the matter. Since you've come back from yout trip to the oracle we've been gathering information around town trying to find anything that could cause a civil war. I will let my colleague Illko give you the result of our search."
The woman in question nod and speak up, "We have found two group that could be susceptible to provok or worsen this futur conflict. The first one is a group of people called the cult of the Change. A new sect that instead of believing in a god believe in the Change itself, the event. They believe that the Change is a good thing, encourage people to accept the Change, that it's a great opportunity for everyone. They have begun research in how to make the most of the Change, to make them more pronounced, on how to best use it in day to day life, etc..."
She pause before continuing, "In itself they're nothing wrong with that and so far with have no evidence or even suspicions of darker intention. The probleme come with the existence of the second group."
She look at a scroll in front of her and continue, "This second group is smaller and as no real name. It's a sort of club composed of men and women who weren't changed. Among them is a fair number of very influencial people, merchant, landlord, a few wizard, etc... They met once or twice a week mostly to complain to each other how the change ruined their lives, how things where better before. We think that at least half of them are jealous that they didn't gain anything personnaly from the Change."
She smile a little at that.
"Independantly either group don't pose any problem but both have some substantial influence in the population. And their philosophy is completely opposed. We think that if any serious incident should happen both camp would accuse the other. It would be the start of this civil war."
"What are your though so far ?"

[bindin garoth]

"My pyromancy abilities may not be of much use here, but I do have a special ability very favorable for spying on groups. It wouldn't be hard to find out if either of them are planning everything." Evlen says through gritted teeth. So now Nusi is dismissing them? Oooooh, Evlen's angry now, he's just holding it back for the moment, knowing it'd be very easy to worsen their situation.

"Are there any particular notable individuals in either group we should be concerned about? Or any other relevant info?"

[Beschoren]

Titian realizes that such groups seem completely harmless. The council must be terrified about that possible war to investigate such people. "Are both groups "based" here in Clertep? I supose they are not very secretive."

[zagan]

Illko respond easily to Evlen and Titian question. "For the cult we know that they have a headpriest a man named Leman Coll and for the club no official leader but the one that generally orgasine the meeting is called Trevus Hen. Both group are based in Clertep be we know that the cult as sent a few emissarie in other town to spread their belief."
She point at the parchment before her, "We've compiled all our infromation in those scroll and give them to you at the end of this reunion. Like you have already deduce we want you to investigate both group and find out more information about them and most importantly if they have any nefarious plan."

[ForzaFiori]

"Is there someone unchanged that we could use as an assistant? Someone you would trust with the mission, of course. It would help to be able to have someone infiltrate the group, and we are all... well, rather drastically changed."

[zagan]

Illko seem taken by surprise by the idea, "Hum, I'm not sure we'll need to look into our rank."
She put aside her parchment and take another in hand.
The Silence speak up, his voice is weirdly distorted, "Don't worry Illko, I have someone in my clergy that should be able to do it. But we'll need a little time to organize is entry into the club. Probably pretending to come from out of town, they're not that many unchanged people in town, something like five or six percent. It would be suspicious if an unknow unchanged man suddendly appear in town."
He focus on your party, "I'll organize thing on my end and informe you once everything is ready. In the meantime you can begin your investigation with more indirect mean."
Illko speak up again, "Now for your remuneration, we are willing to give each of you a hundred gold pieces per day, and we expect a first report in a week time. Of course you do not have an infinite amount of time to complete it, the faster the better. If you can prove conclusively that either group is planning or not planning anything each of you will get a thousand gold bonus each."
She pause for an instant, "Is everything clear ?"

Michael nods, waiting to see if any of the others have further comments.

Titian is quite deceptioned with the reward, but the nods on agreement nontheless. if blood flows, loot is surely to supress such mediocre thankfullness

Evlen only nods his head in agreement. In truth, he also thinks like Titian. But they aren't in a position to negotiate..... for now. Once they have information, they should be in a much better bagaining position. And besides, how hard could it be? Especially with his talents!

And hey, if worse comes to worse, couldn't he just burn down their bases?

Frigi speak up, "Good I think we've finished here. The council thank you for your time and wish you good luck on your mission. You are dismissed."
Yvan advance to take the scrolls from Ilko and then motionned for you to get out.
Once outisde the council building Yvan look at you all, silently as if unsure of what to say. "I hum, I really don't. How could ...?"
Her pause again and finnaly sign, "Come with me to temple I'll began the preparation for Yui spells and I'll explain to you, a lot of things that you obviously need to know."
He seem really depressed for some reason.

Yui looks stunned at Nusi as she takes his comment as an insult, ignores his apology and quickly moves to anger when the Pelorite asks for his title and badge, "Clertep can keep it's badge and title Nusi Wells of the god Pelor, the light bringer, the healer of the sick. I speak about the change. This vile Change!" Yui tosses his badge into the chamber, his bald spot showing bright with anger, his grey hair seeming to stand on edge.

"And I may not be the brightest bulb in this room but at least I don't cut my nose to spite my face. I didn't ask to help you," The guards move in and grab Yui's arms at this point, trying at first to move the old man out of the room gently, "And I'll go get my reward for service. I came here looking for answers and I've found one for sure," The guards push the old man out of the thick door, which quickly closes behind him. A confused guard stands near the door and This says to him in a raised voice, "NUSI WELLS IS A GIANT STICK IN THE MUD!", before hobbling off down the corridor.

Yui mutters and tries to calm down as he waits for the ritual of changing and to hear from his companions about the rest of this conclave. He paces about until the doors open again...

Michael sighs as he sees Yui when they leave the chamber. "Well, Yui, you nearly screwed the pooch there. They're allowing us to keep the job, however, which may be a way to keep you from going to jail, and maybe even keep Pelor from smiting you."

[Duncfoo]

Yui stops pacing when Michael strides out and chastices him. Embarssement radiates from the old elf "Nusi Wells is a stick in the mud..." He pauses for a moment, "AND Pelor would neither smite me nor deny me succor. His creed is to fill the world with good deeds... and smite undead. Mostly those two things." Yui pauses thinking for a moment, "This doesn't make sense. Something is up with this. Mark my words youngster, that goo-woman is not right."

[ForzaFiori]

"That's true Yui, and I doubted that would have been the last time we encountered her. Now, I know for a certainty it won't. No matter how she acts though, she IS still a head-priestess, and a member of the city council. Would you speak to a friend of your master's in the same way you spoke to her?"

[Beschoren]

Titian taps Yui at his back "Way to go budy. That's why I'm friend with you but not with the city. And you should take a look at this scroll with all the info we got, which is not much."

his tentacles hand the scroll and then try to friendly hug Yui

"That woman is on the brink of madness. I'm sure she will find a way to pester us again. But don't worry, I got your back and will blast jails apart if needed.

Besides, anything sees more important than stalking people complaning about the change"

"Hey hey now, Titian, don't get too excited. Blasting and burning jails is my job. I'll leave the guards to you though." He says with a rather wide grin.

"And Yui, don't worry about what happened. We all have your back here, and should she try anything....... Well, let's just say that wouldn't be pleasant for her. We are going to protect you from he, no doubt about that." He says as he pats Yui on the back.

Yvan guide you to the temple and in the room from the day before where the spell was cast. He speak up "Okay, hum Yui I know enough of your background that I don't hold against you the fact that you don't know how to talk in an official setting, but you are smart enough to know it too. So why did you feel the need to speak up ? To be the first to speak up even ?"
He pause to take a deep breath and continue, "Also I don't much like the fact that you used the information that I've given you on the councilor. It was just to give you a better idea of their personality, particularly so you don't offend them."
He pause again apparently trying to gather it's though. "Okay nevermind it's too late now and we can't do anything about it. I will play the devil advocate and try to defend Nusi, I don't agree with her but that way you'll at least be able to better undersdand things. First you need to know she's the grand-daugther of the previous hedpriest of Pelor and she's an orphan. Her parents, both servant of Pelor, where killed by vampires when she was young. She grow up inside the temple of Pelor, litterally hearing about the evil of undeath since she was something like five year old. Second you need to know why undead are so relived, particularly by Pelor but by most other good deities too. The fact is that the negative energy that animated them is a destructive and corruptive force. Even mindless undead damage the world around them simply by existing, an inteligent undead, changed against their will, that try to do good would still succumb to the temptation after a time. There is litterally no documented case of an undead being not eventually turning to evil ! If a good undead exist somewhere it's so rare that nobody have ever heard about it."
Once again he pause to let digest what he said, "Now we come to the event that cause problem for the council that I mentionned. Shortly after the Change Nusi present a notion before the council that any being Changed into an undead be placed under quarantined either until it was determined that they didn't present a danger or until a something could be done to protect those around them in case something should go wrong. The council was debatting on this issue when rumor about that leaked to the populace. Sudendly we had lot of peoplse protesting in front of the council building, demanding the refusal of this notion saying that it was unfair and completly against all the principe of liberty of Clertep. Of course the notion never passed. As a consequence of that Nusi lost of a lot of influence with the rest of the council the other wanting to avoid being tainted by association."
He look at you all trying to determine your mood, "Now I think you can see why she really didn't like being remind of that incident and also reminding the other of that."
While you thing about that he add in a thougfull voice to Yui, "And where did you get the idea that Clertep has a king ?"

Yui nods to Michael, "I'd get eaten. But dragons seem both more intelligent and wise than that woman. And I'm glad you guys have my back." Yui nods his thanks to his homocidal friends. No jail was safe with them around.

Yui looks at Yvan blankly, "Don't give people tools and not expect them to use them. And I wasn't speaking to her, I was speaking to you. The room seemed big enough that our conversation was private... Course I don't know much about buildings." Yui stops to think about Nusi Wells and shrugs, "I don't see why her parents matter. She is the head priest and representing her faith on the council. Her actions don't seem like ones Pelor would agree with... I know about the undead and Pelor's creed." Yui slows down, "but... I can see how that would be her concern. My master himself suffers from the... Undeath changing. And how that could cause riots and problems. This lesson seems to be both Nusi and I need to take care of how they approach the council. How would they accomplish finding the undead anyways? Has there been a census or anything like that of who changed?"

Yui laughs at that last statement, "I didn't think Clertep had a king, you just explained the council to me. I was using "the king" as a pretend example of how the CHANGE could be dangerous somewhere, then that crazy goo-lady got her skirt all ruffled taking in personally." Yui suddenly gets sad, shoulders slumping. "I've never been comfortable with women... Lets get this ritual over with."

"Very well we will begin, Yui please remove most of your clothes and place yourself in the center of the room."
While Yui does so he goes to a table on the side and pick a vial of blood before joining Yui in the circle. Once Yui his ready he began chanting the spell.
You all watch in anticipation.
Time seem crawl by but finally Yvan reach the last syllabe of the spell, he throw the blood on Yui and push his hand on Yui's torso. There is a flash of ligh and then....

Yui finally stops grouching when the group reaches the door to the antechamber. He seems to get nervous mumbling, "I hope this is safe..."

Yui nervously walks into the room and strips off his cloak, coat, shirt, breeches and boots. He stands there shifting from foot to foot while an attendant has him wash himself with what looks like silvery liquid. Yui is old, his skin wrinkled and bunched with strange chitinous protrusions. Stiff hairs sprout from his elbows, knees and his palms. Still, he stands straight with wiry muscles.

Yui blinks into the spirit realm for a moment...

Trevor floated on his back across the chamber with a lazy flap of his tail. I see you are here... Going to go through with it hmmm?

Yui nods, staring at the constantly shifting blocks structure of Lingchan. Yes indeed. This change Trevor, it does not suit me.

Trevor flaps around, what if it goes wrong? Magic is not
Certain...

Yui waves his hand through Trevor and scowls before he sighs and closes even his other sense, taking a moment to concentrate. His first glimpse of spirit he can still imagine. He pictures himself, the true spirit, his first exercise. Slowly his own spirit manifests. Scales and hairs cover his cold blue aura. His forms has wings and many legs swirl around from every angle. His jaw both potrudes and slavers with freezing webs, Green orbs floating above his head tangle with a crest... Yui shudders and blinks out

Yui strides to the circle. As Lingchan moves his hands through the air time seems to slow and slow, the golden sands sparkle still, but the twinkle seems to take years. He feels the stop of time and it's as if for a moment a comfortable hand lifts from his shoulder. The feeling is so disconcerting yui breaks into a dead cold sweat, and time moves. One pace at a time Yui moves down a dark hallway with a cold stranger staring at his back. Yui's spirit crawls under the gaze of the stranger, guilt washing across his mind in wave after wave, before it suddenly snaps off leaving Yui feeling so terribly alone...

Lingchan lowers his arms and the sand turns black. Yui stands there covered in sweat and shivering, "Guys am I ok, am I fine?!"

Once the flash of light dissipate you can see that in place of the Yui you knew is a an old elf with a regal air about him, simply looking around a little confused. At his feet you can also a new creature, some sort of translucent badger looking frantically around him.
Yvan seem really confused, "I thing that something has gone wrong. How are you feeling Yui ?"

"Well, you look better. Still different, but at least you don't have that weird spider-face thing going on."

[bindin garoth]

"Hey Yui, what that weird animal at your feet? Oh yeah, any you definitely look a lot better." He says the last part with a grin. Truly, he was glad that his friend became a lot better looking. He's sure Yui was too.

But then he turns to Yvan. "Went wrong? I mean, yeah there's a weird animal at his feet, and he has this odd aura round him, but what else could of happened? I thought the spell was completed and working fine?"

[Beschoren]

"You're looking good buddy" Titian says, loking at the little creature at his feet. it does not seems dangerous, but the tortle has his hands near his wepon just in case. "The bug thing is on the past now"

[Duncfoo]

"Wait, wrong. AM I HIDEOUS??" Yui shouts and holds his arms out and seeing the strange exoskeletons replaced by smooth tanned skin that seems to almost sparkle. Looking up when Michael speaks he visibly relaxes only to stiffen up again when he notices the strange creature at his feet, freezing as he peeks into the spirit world...


Yui ducks, looking around madly above his head. The spirit world is not like it once once, the shades of blue that hung mist like seem more dead, grey and with no light.

No guide waited for Yui in the spirit realm. "TREVOR" he pronounced into the void, more an idea than any set of words.

No otter swam into view. Yui tracked down seeing the shape at his feet in the spirit realm, a small moment of horror causing black ripples to emanate from him. It looked like an absolutely normal otter. There was no aura or emanations, no greater view. He yelled into the void in wordless guilt...


... Yui fell to his knees trying to scoop up the strange translucent critter, that was starting to make noises that could only mean pain. The sound is faint and barely carries. "Oh no no Trevor I am so sorry..." Yui's hands passed through the strange creature a few times before finding purchase and Yui half stumbles up with a strange miserable look on his face. "It's... It's my spirit guide... This is a spirit! How can he be here!!"

"Can you still talk to him? Perhaps his new form is more of a bridge, so he may interact in the physical as well as spiritual realms." Michael points out.

[Duncfoo]

Yui pauses and puts his head close to strange bundle in his arms. It makes strange pitiful chittering noises, "Oh he can talk. Right now he is saying pretty much, 'OW IT HURTS' over and over..." Yui looks at Yvan. "What happened."

[zagan]

Yvan is clearly confused, "I don't know but the spell used way more ambiant energy than it should have. And this creature appeared as part of the spell."
He seem to think about it some more, "No Lingchan cast it without trouble yesterday, I know that others have used it since with no problem."
He nod to himself and cast a little spell take make his eyes glow.
"It's as I though, Yui is not back to being a normal elf he is still changed but not in the same way as before. And this spirit being is part of him, they have a powerfull link. Like being two part of the same soul. But what could have interfered ?"

[bindin garoth]

"Is it possible that the spell being a success up to this point was an, admittely huge, conidence? Unlikely yes, but that's the only thing I can think of." Evlen lets out a sigh. The Change could be annoying at times.....

"Well, whatever the case, glad to have you looking normal Yui! How's it feel?"

[zagan]

Yvan shook is head at Evlen question, "No I seriously doubt it. I think something interfered with the spell. I will research the issue. In the meantime you are free to go. You have a mission to complete after all."

OOC: Unless you have have more question for you Yvan I think we can move on. Duncfoo I need to know your selection of spell-like abilities and you need to roll for your wild luck ability.

[Duncfoo]

Yui stops and pauses, supporting the spirit otter with one hand and touching his face for a moment, "It... It seems to have worked somehow. Evlen I feel great actually. Bouyant almost... I feel energized actually. My connection to the spirits is still there and stronger in some way." Yui smiles and struggles to contain it. "Something has changed again but I don't know what... Yvan I will await your research. What can I do to support? And yes, we do have a mission moving forward. I guess we can start there as we try and figure out what went wrong." Yui moves and begins to put his clothes back on, always trying to keep touching Trevor who he seems to coo and shush at. The animal spirit makes unhappy ethreal noises as it struggles to cope with a new reality.

Stats are updated on my sheet. I am still leveling up Trevor. Trying to decide what might be good feats for him. Can I use Incarnum feats or is that too cheesy? How about Animal Devotion and another domain?

His skills are updated. I have 6 unspent skill points to assign. Could he also take knowledge Planes? (i think it's on the fae list)

"I'm going to scout out the city for them." Evlen says, invoking the all-too-familiar power from beyond, and summoning his normal red-and-white dove companion. It immediately takes of, and begins to circle around the city from above, looking for anything suspicious.

Once outside the temple, Evlen send his birds to spie on the cult. Following the direction in the scroll he easily find the warehouse that was transformed into a makeshift temple. On the front of it he can see a big multicolored pentagramme, the symbol of the cult. At this hour nobody his outside, well nobody there specifically for the cult. The bird perch himself next to a window. Inside he can see a numbers of bench and an altar with the same symbol. Nobody appear to be inside right now.

Titian is somewhat bored with this mission, not really convinced that 2 groups like those could create big problems. "I could just knock in and see what it takes to join the club, you know. I might actually do it just for the hell of it."

[ForzaFiori]

Michael stops to consider Titian's idea. "Let's do it." he says, stepping forward and knocking on the door.

[Duncfoo]

For Yui it's a troubling day. The mages of the temple of Boccob shrug their shoulders and invite him for study at a later time, focusing on the ritual itself. Trevor sits, or occasionally floats through, his arms making haunting pitiful sounds.

When the group exits the temple Yui knows that work or business might be the best distraction. The head ache was going to stay. He trudges along behind Evlen trying not to let the elation he felt about his own predicament, as Tevor wimpered in this strange new environment.

As they stood a few blocks away pondering their next steps. "I agree with Titian... We can just go ask them some questions. Who knows, they might not be as dangerous as the temple things... But do we want Mr. Angry Tentacles to do all the talking? Lord knows I shouldn't say anything right now... You're it Michael." Trevor made a less petulant sound for a moment and Yui looks down. "Trevor says he can peak through the wall for us." Yui lets the little otter down and it perches up on it's hind legs near his feet. The otter scampers for a moment, slowly, before waddling towards the wall of the building.

Yui tries to stand off to the side of Michael, not wanting to intimidate who answers the door too quickly.



I need to select my spells for the day as well. Current idea:

3rd: Ice Lance, Spirit Jaws
4th: Flame Strike, Dispel Magic

"I'm going to stay behind and keep an eye out with my bird. It'd probably be best if not all of us are associated with any one group; it could make the others hostile to us. And my bird sees noone inside." Evlen says.

"No one inside? In that case, should we come back later, or just try to pick the lock? Can anyone here pick a lock?"

Just as Michael said that Evlen's bird spot someone inside, apparently from a backroom. It's a human man, obviously changed with thick blue skin and antenna on his head. He wear a tin white robe with a big multicolored pentagramme on it. He is transporting candle and going toward the altar probably to change them.

Titian dissmisses Michael idea of breaking in the bulding. instead he just knoks the door again and then talk to the locals "I've heard there's a group of people helping other with the the change. do you know how can I find them?"

[zagan]

When Titien knock on the door, evlen's bird and Trevor can see that the man turn around. He look at the door apparently surprised and put his candle on the ground before coming. A few second later he opened the door, he look at you all curiously he also listen to Titian question. "You are in the right place this is the temple of the change, dedicated to help all those that were changed. I'm am brother Hicham, what can I do for you ?"

Titian tries to be as lovely as he can "Greetings brother Hicham. I'm Titian and I'm somewhat disturbed about all this change thing" (the tortle shows the tips of all this 4 tentacles, waving at the man) "If there is any enlightment about this change that could come by sharing experiences and exchanging ideas, I'd love to come closer to your group"

Michael bows. "I am Michael. I was curious to hear what you are preaching here. I find myself changed more so than others - I have multiple forms now, none of them my own, and was curious if you had heard of anyone else who has this ability."

[Duncfoo]

Yui stands back as Trevor slowly pushes himself through the wall. He is afraid to join the conversation with his recent outburst causing such problems.

[zagan]

The man seem intrigued by Michael claim of multiple change but respond first to Titian. "If you have any urgent question, I'll be more than happy to help you now and if you want to see more of our way I suggest that you come to our prayer tomorow morning. I'm sure it will be enlighting, after prayer we also hold reunion for people to talk about their change, how it affected their lives, compare experience. Would you like to come ?"

[bindin garoth]

Evlen cuts in at this point. "We would love to sir! Is there anything we should know or bring with us?" He's hoping his enthusiasm will help keep the priest non-suspicious of them.

[Beschoren]

Titian noods in agreement, with something on his face that could be interpreted as a smile. "Tomorrow morning, of course. I will be here with an open mind."

Yui nods along as well. Seems they were setting a schedule now. As the team walks away Yui queries, "Well, should we go check on the other side today? I might be a good lead for that... I had my change removed."

Michael nods as well. "Let's do that. Some of us may want to stay behind though - Titian and I probably don't wanna show up trying to join two rival groups at the same time. They might be keeping an eye on new members, just in case. Plus the fact that with our... well, rather obvious changes, he gestures towards his body and Titian's tenticles, "we'd probably be run off with pitchforks and torches."

[bindin garoth]

"My change is obvious as well, unfortunately. Although I can always spy and serve as a one-way communication between Yui and us. Sorry Yui, it looks like you're the only one who's suitable for this."

[Duncfoo]

Yui sighs as the group walks back towards their house, "I'm not sure you want me in front of these... UnChangers. De Changers? What ever. I really messed up that meeting. But I'll go. It gives us some credibility maybe having Nusi Wells dislike me." Trevor trots along side Yui making strange echoing animal sounds before Yui bends down and picks him up, his arms slipping through the ethral form. The Spirit otter crawls partially through Yui into his back pack.

"Say, Titian, maybe you should stake out the other guys tonight. I'm sure you can hide somewhere and just see what goes on with these guys."

[zagan]

Brother Hicham smiled, "I'll be seeing you tomorow then, it was a pleasure meeting you. I wish you a good day."
With that he closed the door and return to his work, Evlen's bird and trevor can both see him tending to the altar.
Outside you discuss your plan for how to proceed, looking in the document provide by the council you can see that the "normal" group met in the private room of an Inn, once or twice a week. The inn in question is on the other side of the town.

Titian looks confused to the troubled, no longer web-drooling Yui. one of his tentacles rub his forehead, as if thinking hard "Stake them? No, I don't think they are vampires at all. they should be changed, that all. I don't want to give any reason for them to be suspicious, so I'm not even planing on stalking them. if one of them turns into a pile of ash at sunlight exposure I'l let you know"

He takes a look at the document "As for the other group, lets go there and take a look. even if only one of us do the talking, the others should be within range. You know, to do the killing thing"

(I vote for simpling hanging arround such in. no one can censure us for taking a beer at one table while Yui talks to the bartender about hatefull midnight meetings)
