[3.5] Arachnaphobia.

Hello all,

As a very potentially amusing thing I'm intending to play a Hairy Spider (Monsters of Faerun, given a LA+0 in the 3.5 update). Now, several problems abound.

The vermin intelligence (INT - ) - that can be easily solved by giving it standard INT.

The vermin type. I see problems here.

What I'm asking is, can anyone suggest to me some simple adaptations that can be made that would allow a Hairy Spider to be played? Class I'm thinking of Psion, Wizard, or Swordsage.

Change type to animal.

Apply the effects of the Awaken Animal spell, with fudging to explain how you got that 18 int or whatever.

As a note, this character should have at least 1 LA or 1 RHD, DM's choice, based on racials.

I'm pretty sure you could play a celestial or fiendish version of that thing, which automatically gains a playable intelligence and jumps your type straight to magical beast.
But yes, you will need some tricks to gain a decent intelligence.
