I apologize in advance for the making of this thread, but the first half of the inquiry that I'm making isn't something that I could easily find by using this site's built in search engine. I also thank in advance anyone who aids in the answering of my inquiries.

Can anyone link me to any unique subsystems of mechanics that they created or come to mind that are (mostly) self contained for a base class? I'm speaking innovations that have no exact parallels in pre-existing mechanics for either 3.5 or Pathfinder (such as Binding was to 3.5) and not entirely new mechanics projects or subsystems (such as d20r).

Also (and I will be searching for this on my own, but any notable or creditable examples are appreciated) can anyone link me to any homebrewed base classes that come to mind that either utilize some of the unique subsystems that were show cased in 3.5/Pathfinder (such as Psionics, Binding, Incarnum, Shadowcasting, Invocations and True Naming. You may include Martial Initiating if you wish, but that is so common on this subforum that I feel I can find something if I go looking for it with little effort) or expand upon them and take them in new directions?

If you're curious to why I'm going about this, I want to try and broaden the minds of the folks I play with normally by showing them that there are plenty of options outside of the normal box of what the core base classes represent. I also tend to enjoy homebrew more than printed material and my games are such very homebrew friendly.

Once more, thank you again in advance!

Here (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?board=83.0) is a good start. And that's just what minmaxboards has to offer. There are plenty more here on GitP.

You should start in Morph Bark's Homebrew Tier Compendium (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=245701). Just search for the "Unique" tag.

Special mention goes to the Magister (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139935) (spontaneous spellcasting with retrieved spells like the ol' Spirit Shaman, but with an interesting mechanic for casting spells with a higher/lower slot for a boosted/diminished effect) and the Esper Knight (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=169532) (getting Essentia for class features and stuff, but no soulmelds). I've actually only skimmed the two so far, but they're ones I keep intending to examine further =)

Shameless self promotion

I am trying to bring a new subsystem here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=255521) mostly giving a look at both meldshapes and vestiges as inspiration. I plan on expanding it in future installments using prcs or giving the subsystem more base classes.
