Hey guys!


Just looking for assistance building an optimized Droid Commander type build.
I think I might be trying to cram too much into one build, but heres what I am trying to do.

I'm looking to play a Battle Droid with 2 or 3 identical in appearance droids that follow me around and going for Droid Commander. I'm also looking to be a Tech Specialist as well, looking at Saboteur.

I am having a hard time optimizing this so it is not useless in combat as well, and I think Followers could help get there but they for the most part seem useless.

Any assistance with this would be awesome!

I love this kind of character, I've both played it and had my players play it in games.

The best way seems to be to use the followers system in Clone Wars Campaign Guide, as you pointed out. The best way to make this good is with the appropriate talents; it's probably best to take no more than two followers, and then take the Squad Action talent from Soldier, the Automated Strike

Another way to do it is take the Wealth talent from Noble to begin with, then spend the cash on buying droids, using Overclocked Troops to help them move with you or whatever. I think the Followers idea is better, it really is a system that seems designed to do what you wanna do. Don't worry about the fact that is seems bad overall; take the Fire At Will talent; two attacks at -5, so what, but that is still two attacks, same as Double Attack, which is far from a bad feat.

What I'd probably do with this build is pick and choose from all the follower-based talents; pick one each of the Noble, Soldier, and Scout talents that gives you a follower, and pick up Squad Actions from soldier, Close Combat Assault from scout, and Punishing Protection from noble (sort of like the Stand Tall feat). Then pick up some other Inspire Confidence style abilities from Noble (Born Leader, ideally), and head into Droid Commander and pick up the handy Reinforced Commands and Droid Defense talents.

It's easier to provide advice when you have a shell of a build to work with 8D
Out of the things you've said you're interested in, the least cohesive is Saboteur... What particularly do you like from it? I mean, you can totally fit all of this into your build, but you did say you wanted an optimised build, which generally requires picking one thing and sticking to it.

Looks like you have a good idea of what I am trying to do for the most part.
Here what I have had so far

Class Talent or Feat Base Feats
1 Scout Reconnaissance Team Leader Tech Specialist
2 Soldier Commanding Officer

4 Soldier Commanding Officer
5 Soldier FEAT
6 Soldier Demolitionist FEAT
7 Soldier or Independent Droid?



The idea I had behind Saboteur is that my "Team" would be a more than just a Gun Boat. Be a little more Sneaky and Tactful. kinda like a Demolitions team or something.

I have been considering Officer and Military Engineer as well as Droid Commander and Saboteur if that helps.

I know I am spreading myself out a little too much, so I am trying to trim as much "fat" as I can. I'm willing to drop Saboteur as I think I can accomplish most of what I am looking for with just Tech Specialist.

The main reason I am looking at an optimized build is because our group tends to over do it a bit to the point where our GM escalates the power of our opponents to challenge us.
