Non-Draconic Mailman Feats?

The title is fairly explanatory. What feats would the Playground reccomend for a Mailman (http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/19868534/The_Mailman:_A_Direct_Damage_Sorcerer) sorcerer build when the character in question doesn't have access to Practical Metamagic?

Should I just substitue it for some of the other feats that the orginal guide suggests, like Arcane Thesis and Improved Initative?

There is also the metamagic school focus feats which are ok at low levels. IIRC, easy metamagic is available to most casters at higher levels.

Since Dragon is not allowed everywhere, Rapid Metamagic (CM 46) allows you to use metamagic without casting time increase all day long.

But my favorite choice is:
Combat casting, Dodge, Endurance, Mobility, Extend spell, Persistent spell
Dip into Spelldancer (MoF 37)
Persist Arcane spellsurge (DM 64)

Oddly, Rapid Metamagic is not as useful as you'd think. Arcane spellsurge is exactly why its not as useful as you'd think.
