Hey there folks,
Having trouble figuring out what to take up the other side of my gestalt idea.
On one side I have Ranger 6/Rogue 7/Shadowdancer 7.

I was thinking either something that boosts my ability in combat (no ToB though) or a caster of some sort to give me some major buffs.

Premise for how this character acts in combat is pretty simple; Hide in/step out of any shadow and stab the enemy in the back multiple times then shadow stepping away again.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Books other than no TOB? No one does what you want better than Telflammar Shadowlord, but I don't know if you have access to it or not.

You could do Daring Outlaw on one side and Swift Hunter on the other. Suel Arcanamach is good for buffing yourself. Or Knight of the Weave.

Books are limited, but I can look most things up.

Beguiler 20 would be a fun and easier choice for the other side. You could choose PrCs for it to enter before level 14, or you could take it pure all the way to level 20. Beguiler 20 gains the ability to ignore spell resistance completely whenever the beguiler is in a position to ignore the creature's dexterity bonus to AC. That's pretty damn awesome.

(Focused Specialist?) Illusionist into Shadowcraft Mage. Requires being a gnome, but regular and forest gnomes are great illusionists, and whisper gnomes are great roguish types, so not too painful. Spam a ton of actually-real shadow figments and get a big ol' wad of shadowy concealment as a class feature.

Sinks into your feats a lot and flaws would defintely help, but great for a shadows-based character. I had a gestalt (homebrew, based off Swordsage) Ninja // Cloistered Cleric / Shadowcraft Mage that was very enjoyable. Worshipped that campaign's God of Shadows. (I suggest you go w/ illusionist b/c you said your book are limited; to do it w/ cleric you need PHB2's spontaneous domain spells variant, and the Shadow and Illusion or Gnome domains).
